The two of us ordered a black sesame latte, shared an affogato, and tried a Konawaena pour over (Kiwae honey, roasted macadamia, and milk chocolate) pourover. The affogato was amazing. Rather than offering to remake or replace it, I was told I would need to pay the difference to order a different coffee--even though I had already paid a premium for the 100% Kona option. I understand that not every drink will turn out perfectly. What bothered me much more was how the situation was handled. A specialty coffee shop charging a premium for its coffee should be willing to stand behind the drink it serves and make a reasonable effort to correct something a customer is unhappy with. The combination of the poorly made drink and dismissive service made this a particularly disappointing visit.
