Came to visit because I heard the ice cream was really good. When we walked in the staff was welcoming and friendly. Went straight to the back where the ice cream is and they had a great selection of flavors and special limited editions too. The staff members helped all of us and gave us several samples of their different flavors. It was hard to choose which one to get cause I liked several but went with the Georgia peach because it's not one we can find a lot. It was really good with several chunks of real peaches. We also got a caramel apple and they were able to cut it for us. The apple had lots of pieces of tart parts. Too tart for me but the caramel was good. Absolutely love Kilwins. We bought some of their fancy Carmel corn and unfortunately it was past its prime. Do you know what they did? They sent us gift cards to replace our entire order, and we did just that the following year. Their popcorn and Carmel Apples are delicious. Popped in to try their chocolates and there were so many varieties to choose from! We ended up buying a box of Turtles (so fresh!), a slice of Peanut Butter fudge (decadent!), a couple of peanut butter buckeyes (delicious), and, my personal favorite this trip: the peppermint cremes! I truly think these were the best peppermint candies I've ever had. They weren't too sweet, had just the right ratio of chocolate and peppermint, and were just the right size. The service was excellent, always have had a great experience at Kilwins but at this location the workers weren't wearing gloves and also handled money after handing over ice cream (cross contamination). My sister and I both got really sick after having ice cream here. read more

First time to check Kilwins out. I was stationed beside the store watching the VB Holiday Parade and drew in by delicious Heritage chocolate samples they were passing out. The store had a lot of product and they do make some items in house up front where you can see at the storefront window on Atlantic Ave. They also have ice-cream. The store was well organized and clean. I decided to sample the chocolate fudge which was great, which I should have got. I decided on a dark chocolate pecan. It was good size and looked appealing I thought. I also got a hot chocolate. Checkout was a bit cumbersome, but always friendly. The chocolate pecan was dry and hard. I reported this to a shrug. The hot chocolate was killer rich and yummy! I'm sure there are other items that would have been more to my liking. The selections in the case looked very good. I will try them again if in the area, but no hurry. 3.5, rounding down. read more

Visit enticed by lone Yelp review and 1 employee pushing fudge samples on sidewalk outside. Both staff members inside ignored my wife and I upon entry, even after 5+ minutes of waiting to be served; no other customers, no wonder. While waiting (forever), we noticed it was hotter than Hades inside. Retro alternative tunes were cool; we thought we were finally getting served when 1 of the 2 staff members walked to the back (visibly chewing/eating something) just to skip to the next song. A third employee surfaced and provided friendly, thorough service, including ice cream samples. Bought 1 small scoop of cappuccino chip in a dish for $5.06. It was average but definitely overpriced for the small portion. We passed 2-3 ice cream shops that would have been equal in quality and price but larger portions and air conditioned. When did Kilwins come to Virginia Beach?!? I've been to the one in Williamsburg before and have always enjoyed looking at their high-end chocolate treats. Now, there is a spot in VAB - right at the oceanfront - off Atlantic Ave and 25th street tucked into a tidy shop. Same old familiar smell greets you upon entry - amazing chocolate-y goodness. They have ice cream by the scoop in the back as well as displays up front where you can see candies being made. A large fudge display with around a dozen flavors and a large set of glass display cases with all sorts of decadent treats like homemade peanut butter cups (huge), chocolate twinkies, chocolate-dipped pretzels, salted caramel chocolate dipped Oreos and marshmallows, truffles, etc. We chose a few items from the display for later and while waiting to pay a man came in who said he didn't like the Twinkie item and he wanted his money back. He wasn't awful, but he wasn't being kind, started telling them about how they needed to remove the trademark for Twinkie from their display.... Insert eye roll.... The manager handled it like a real pro. Refunded him and offered to provide him with anything else he'd like free of charge so that he had a pleasant experience and enjoyed his visit. This turned things around and the guy didn't have much else to say except thanks and his daughter loved her items he'd bought her. Well done. It was crowded but we were helped pretty quickly and service was friendly. Will come back again! Our dark chocolate coconut clusters were amazing!!!!! read more

One of the few open ice cream places open before noon! The ice cream flavors are very unique and fresh. Additionally, the ice cream is especially cold! The strawberry and peach flavors had real chunks of fruit- delicious. Very hard choice, I sampled both, but it was the best strawberry ice cream I've ever had!
