I was told by the Holiday Inn receptionist that the food here was really good so I ordered. I order wings and pork fried rice with no vegetables. The menu shows 6 wing however I got 3 wings cut up and that was supposed to be 6 pieces. SMH. Are you serious? The rice was oily on top of the food not being hot. When I called to confirm I was supposed to get 6 wings the young lady said oh we only give halves. Shouldn't it say that. I told her that is definitely misleading. Kim Moon is our second favorite here in Indiana county. The option to order online is a wonderful tool. The staff is usually very quiet, but the food is good. My husband is sushi fan, so we tried theirs. It was pretty good, the presentation of it was the best, very neat. They also deliver, which is a huge plus for those of us who wish to not use door dash. My boyfriend and I stopped here for dinner on a Friday night. There was a car show on Philadelphia St. that night, but surprisingly enough, the restaurant was empty. Once we got inside, we were immediately seated and given menus. The inside is ok. Nothing overly fancy, but that doesn't go without saying the place couldn't have used a fresh coat of paint. On the table when we sat down was corn chip like snacks (their actual name escapes me at this moment) with sweet and sour sauce. I've had them before, and I do enjoy them. The one thing that bothered me was every table had a bowl. (The restaurant was empty, remember.) I couldn't help but wonder how long they had been sitting on the table, but they were good nonetheless. My boyfriend and I each ordered the general tso's dinner special, which all things considered was a heck of a deal. For $8 we got soup and our entree. I ordered egg drop soup, and my boyfriend ordered wanton soup. (Miso soup was also an option.) The egg drop was good, it wasn't spectacular or anything. We also ordered some fried dumplings... again they were good. Nothing new or different. They were very, very hot, however. We had the choice of ordering either white rice, fried rice, or lo mein noodles with our entree... I ordered fried rice, while my boyfriend ordered white rice. No complaints here. We were extremely hungry for some Chinese food so I gave Kim Moon a shot. Got the lunch special of General Tso chicken, Peking chicken and vegetable Lo Mein. Both chicken dishes were completely inedible. The fried rice was not fried but just coated in a yellow seasoning. It tasted like shitty rice-a-roni. The Peking chicken was coated in breading, soggy, and soaked in a tasteless sauce. We ate two bites and threw it away. I thought the general tso's chicken would be a safe bet but I was mistaken. It was super sweet like a cross between orange chicken and soy sauce. I was starving and tried to eat a bit. After about five pieces of chicken my stomach told me no more and I threw it in the trash. The lo mein was decent and the egg rolls were edible also. I have had better Chinese food out of a grocery store. The people here are nice, but the food is absolutely terrible. First of all, it will give you horrible heart burn. Second of all, it doesn't even look like American Chinese food. The "fried rice" is orange for some reason? The the kung pao chicken definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Kim Moon has the best Chinese food in town! They have great lunch specials and even a few dinner ones worth checking out. Whether it be beef, chicken, pork, or shrimp, you can't go wrong. They have all the usual dishes we've come to expect at a Chinese restaurant, plus a few new twists such as the "Amazing Chicken." There are also vegetarian dishes. On the downside, all the servers speak very broken English. I suggest pointing to what you want on the menu as you order to avoid confusion. If you must make a special request such as "not spicy" or "extra brocolli," be sure to have the server repeat it back to you. Take extra care to speak slowly and clearly when calling in an order. They do not serve alcohol, but are quick to offer you hot tea as you are seated. If you order soda, it comes in a warm can with a glass of ice. Obviously no free refills here. On the upside, they usually carry both Coke and Pepsi products. In addition to Chinese food Kim Moon also serves sushi and other limited Japanese cuisine. My five star rating only applies to the Chinese food. I have tried the sushi there once and was not impressed. It wasn't bad, but I've had better. The Chinese part of the menu is so good and offers so many options that I figured why bother with the other. Be aware that Kim Moon is located almost directly across the street from another downtown Chinese restaurant, "China King." One of my favorite places to eat in Indiana--PERIOD. Rene and Jackie (the owners) are very hard workers, and have come to be friends. Jackie, the Porto Rican delivery guy brings a smile to my face every time he comes to my door. The Mongolian Beef is EXCELLENT, as is the sushi (try to spicy tuna hand roll for a real treat). The lunch special is $4.75 and you get main dish, soup or an egg roll, and white rice. It can't be beat! When you go there, look on the wall across from the cashier. My friends and I used to go to Kim Moon in the 90's when we were students at IUP and the food was excellent. An old friend and I connected about 4 years ago and went here for old time's sake and it was still as delicious as ever. So this past weekend when my same friend plus my boyfriend went, hoping for another great meal, we were sadly disappointed. We were given no fried noodles to start, although other tables were, our "ice water" was warm, no ice and tasted like it came out of a garden hose. The food was bland and tasteless, including my soup and the cashew chicken (which was always my standby) was completely different than it had always been, with gristly fried chicken bits. My boyfriend ordered sushi which tasted subpar (although presented in a nice decorative boat). He always is picky about the wasabi sauce, and in this case he said it tasted like dirt. Obviously there must be new owners or some sort of change because this place is nowhere near the quality it maintained for 20+ years. Very sad. I will not be returning again. read more

This is a simple store front place that provides a heck of a value. Their dinner combo is eight (8) dollars and comes with choice of rice, soup, egg roll, and an entree from a select list. I got the shrimp and chicken combo, a spicy tuna roll and hot tea. My total bill came to just shy of 14.00. The dinner combo is a excellent value. The shrimp and chicken combo was tasty. The wonton soup had a bit of a kick I think they used angry green onions, however, a pole sent surprise for me. The egg roll was a touch over done on the outside, but the The spicy tuna roll was meh but most likely as good as you'll get in Indiana PA. Service was good with just about the right amount of attentiveness, maybe a smidgeon too much. This is a solid 3 star, id give it another 1/2 star because of the value it provides. We were super hungry so we ordered steamed dumplings for an appetizer and sushi rolls. My daughters food came out first, my husband I and had to wait. If she hadn't waited to eat she would have been finished by the time out food came out. The dumplings came out after the sushi and where watery, the eel was fishy and the tuna frozen in the center and the seaweed wrap wasn't quit right. The food was pretty sketchy. This place is nasty I ordered for the first time and didn't know that they put onions and pepper in their sweet and sour chicken and I called they said they would remake everything because I am allergic to onions. Well we had marked are take out boxes with a little purple dot just to make sure they didn't just pick it out, they returned an hour later with the same takeout containers. We could have picked the onions out ourself, the whole point is the I was allergic and needed remade. It was cold and soggy when it returned. Called to ask if menu was online. They said "maybe try Kimmoon.com or something LIKE that" I figured, gee, if you can't communicate in English ? how are you going to READ warnings on products. Further they did not know where their menu was online. The won-tons were pasty, seriously undercooked. I had to fry them at home - and I do say my addition of some black sesame seeds on top really gave them a boost in presentation. The Won-Ton's were 2 out of 10. The General Tso's chicken came in a plastic bowl, which was nice, because I can re-use that even though it melted in the Microwave YET said Microwave safe (1 minute low power). The General Tso's did not have much sauce, I am thinking it's closer to Orange Chicken. It was 6 out of 10. The Egg Drop Soup had good color and looked better than China King's across the street. I give them a 7 out of 10 on the Egg Drop Soup. The Egg Rolls were too thick of a wrapper, however I'll still give the vegetable Egg rolls a 5 out of 10. The service was sketchy at best. I am always concerned when people have their children working finances at the front desk. I remember a time when Kim Moon had better food, but that was when it said Vietnamese cuisine, however now it says Chinese and Japanese Cuisine. I asked the woman there, who was smiling to such a degree ? I felt manipulated. I said "Didn't this change ownership a few years back" "No, we original, we original owner"... Funny she didn't resemble the original owner. When I called the # I found online for the restaurant ? There was no 'Hello Kim Moon' just hello. I said Is this Kim Moon ? She goes "This is huband cell phone, but I help you" Me ? I won't order from there again. All the signs I saw with inability to communicate ? youth running finances ? That the person in front of me had to come back because they forgot a major dinner in his order ? I will not be visiting this establishment again. I suggest youtube videos from chefs on how to make General Tso's and I recommend the double dipped batter approach. Ways Kim Moon could earn me back ? Improve those English and communication skills. Cook the Won-Ton's ! Let us only HOPE the pork inside was properly prepared. And don't just smile and manipulate people with unauthentic politeness - Japan suffers terribly from being over polite to the point it's an insult. You could say "My house is on fire" and you'd STILL get "hi hi - happy day- nice to meet you - hi hi - you so nice". I can't comment on the quality of the food like the other reviews, because after an hour of waiting during my lunch break, it never came! The service was horrible - we waited five minutes at the door to get seated, then just seated ourselves. It took another 5 minutes to be acknowledged and given menus, followed by another 10 minutes to get drinks (ice tea without ice, btw). Once we ordered, the waitress didn't seem to understand English enough to know the difference between an egg roll and egg drop soup, so we got one of each. I asked about our entree after 50 minutes in the restaurant, and told it was coming soon. The people next to us came in shortly afterwards, and asked the same. Their food came after an hour - they took one bite and left in disgust. We waited another couple of minutes then just walked out. Off my list for the future! read more

None-the-less, I filled my cart up with my order only to find out that they don't even have a secure checkout (e.g. NO SSL CERTIFICATE!) This is of course after asking on a different page for ALL of your personal information. So, I abandoned my online order as I certainly wasn't going to input my credit card into an insecure web page. So, I call them to place my order. The lady who answered the phone was extremely rude, short and never even told me how long my order would take to be delivered, when I tried to ask, she just hung up. 45 minutes later, my home phone rings from an out-of-state cell phone. I didn't answer as it looked just like the plethora of robo-calls that I get constantly. The same number calls back a minute later. So this time I answer and say, "Hello". The lady simple says, "I'm at your door. Open it," quite rudely and hangs up! No one had rung my doorbell or knocked. I go to the door and there is no one there. I look out the window to my driveway and no one is there either. So, I call the long distance cell phone and no one answers! I go back to my front door an look out to see a mini-van pulling up to the stop sign in front of my house. I notice the driver is an oriental lady and I think it might be my delivery, so I open the door. The lady happens to glance over and notice me. She parks her mini-van in the middle of the street at the stop sign to bring my delivery. Admittedly, she was very nice in person, unlike the phone! Then we pull everything out to eat. The food is barely luke warm at best. The food was mediocre at best, but the fried rice was absolutely horrible. Very, bland and the WORST I've ever had. The pre-packaged hot mustard was also the worst I've ever had. I think it was out of date and totally ruined my egg roll. To add insult to injury, the next day, they started emailing me wondering why I hadn't ordered. EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! Although the email (From a emailing service), state that it was in compliance with the CAN SPAM act, it WASN'T! After 5 days of this email SPAM, I finally emailed them telling them to take me off of their SPAM list that I never signed up for and told them what my experience was. No reply, no apology, no nothing, but at least they did finally remove me from the SPAM list. So there is that. read more

Ordered sushi to go from here tonight. It should've been a red flag when they told me that 4 different sushi rolls would be ready in 5-10 minutes. Nevertheless I was in the mood for it so I picked up my food and noticed the sushi was warm. That grossed me out especially because there's raw fish in it. The California roll was absolutely terrible and that's typically my favorite type. It was also unusually thick and big which was odd to me. The salmon roll was disgusting as well. Spider roll was okay...4 out of 10 and the Alaskan roll was the best...7 out of 10. Overall, it was a gross experience and I would not go back for sushi.
