Second try here was superb. Seafood bisque was just as good. Stuffed mushrooms were good. Salmon with crab stuffing and stuffed shrimp were excellent - cooked to perfection with right amount of seasoning and butter. Lava cake topped off the excellent meal!

Another trip to Jeanette to visit The Nest went well last night. We were drawn in by the advertisement in the Trib noting the specials of a Seafood Platter, John Dory And Hogfish. I was not familiar with the two fishes and a quick Google search explained both to me. The Hogfish was from Florida and had a mild flavor similar to Grouper, which I love, so I ordered that grilled. It did not live up to my expectations however. It was okay, not great. Perhaps another preparation method would have been a better choice? My husband went for the seafood Platter which was huge and did not disappoint! My son, although he loves seafood, loves steak more and The Nest has consistently provided him with a tender perfectly cooked steak. My cocktail was an Ocean Bleu Martini and the dinners come with 2 sides, such as salad and twice baked potatoes. Our server was very attentive and couldn't have been nicer. The decor is largely unchanged from the 90's but who cares when you're eating delicious seafood? It looked like the facade had an update since we were there. This is where you go when you want delicious seafood! I'd stick to the well known favorites of Crab Cakes, Lobster tails and Scallop or Shrimp dishes.

My lady and I are enjoying our meal at the Nest. Lobster tail biggest I've seen!

Our new Favorite seafood restaurant. Went there this Tuesday - location Jeanette PA. Our first time. everyone working there were super friendly, The interior was nicely laid out and classy we got seated in a small area by the window with the six tables, it was nice and cozy. We ordered oysters on the half shell, one reason we went there my date and I both love oysters, they did not disappoint fantastic. they have a nice wine list and. Specialty drinks. I had my lady.order a large lobster tail (because we were going to share) I had lobster and crab meat over rice.We were really enjoying ourselves was the best we had in a while.

I love The Nest! We do all of our event celebrations here, birthdays and anniversaries and stuff. Cozy, old-timey feel. Classic seafood/steak offerings. Always reliable. A diamond in the Jeannette rough.

The bar. Note the lack of tap handles!

If you've read some of my other posts, you'll know that one the first things I look for is the beer selection. The Nest falls short in that regard, but that's clearly not a priority for them. That's not to say though that they're too classy for any booze...they have a nice selection of bourbons and wines. They provide a recommended wine pairing for your meal too, which helps a knuckle-dragging beer drinker like me. The Nest is a seafood joint primarily, but they do include some turf with their surf. I love good seafood, and The Nest's quality is some of the best I've had in the Pittsburgh area. I had a lobster/crab sauté that was really good...far above what you'll get at a Red Lobster-ish chain. I do have to warn you sushi lovers out there that it's not on the menu. They stay in their swim lane and offer an excellent seafood meal. The vibe is a mix or classy and casual. For guys I'm thinking khakis and dress shirts (no ties) although I was in jeans and a golf shirt and they didn't turn me away. I sat at the bar for dinner, so my "waitress" was also the bartender. She was fabulous. Attentive and friendly, but not in an obnoxious over-the-top way. Knew the menu well and made good recommendations. She was the kind of server I wish I could pick up and carry to the next place. The Nest is on the expensive side, but you have to expect to pay a premium for high-quality seafood this far inland. When you're west of the Appalachians, have craving for GOOD seafood, and are willing to pay a reasonable bill, the Nest is worth making a trip.

My family has been raving about this restaurant for the past 30 years. My boyfriend and I finally came here to celebrate our anniversary and it was the best seafood we've ever had! Our server Kelly was amazing for our whole experience and was kind and attentive. We will most definitely be visiting again! The environment is cozy and warm.

It sells a variety of dry and sweet wines (e.g., red, white, rose, sparkling, and cider), cocktails, mocktails, and beers. Some vineyards are on the grounds as are many barrels and bottles of wines. The restaurant has both indoor seating and seasonal outdoor seating in lakeside cabanas and winter igloos. It is open for brunch/lunch and dinner. It is a nice setting for daily dining as well as special events such as weddings, bridal and baby showers, and private parties. Furthermore, the website lists activities such as bingo, painting and candle-making classes, live music with dancing, and more. For my husband and me, I made a reservation for lunch in an igloo. Our igloo was large enough to fit eight people and cost $50 plus foods and drinks. A larger "party dome" fits up to 14 people and has a fee of $75. The temperatures outside were very cold, but our igloo was kept warm by an electric fireplace and a zippered door. Throughout our meal, our waitress provided timely and friendly service. The Bistro menu listed shareables (e.g., pretzel sticks and charcuterie board), several smash burgers, several flatbreads, mains (e.g., fish and chips, cajun chicken pasta, and quinoa bowl), several salads, several handhelds (e.g., turkey melt, veggie wrap, and Italian panini), many sides, and a couple of desserts. Prices were moderate. (The menus for Sunday Brunch and a group Gathering differ.) The waitress first brought our Sweet Wine-Cookie Flight (4.5 stars), which consisted of the following pairs: Diamond Reo with Brown Sugar Pop Tart, Sweet Finley with Chocolate Salted Caramel, Riesling with Cookies and Cream, and Rose Cider with Strawberry Crunch. The wine glasses came in a wooden box, which was slightly too small, so I needed several minutes of time to carefully pull each wine glass out of the box. I, however, did enjoy the sweet flavors of the wines and cookies. Next our waitress brought out our shareable and two mains. The Hummus Plate (4.5 stars) consisted of fresh and tasty hummus, feta, olives, top seedz crackers, tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red peppers, carrots, celery, and tzatziki. My main course was Crab Cakes (4 stars) with a substituted side of salad. Two crab cakes were a decent size of 4 ounces each, but I would have preferred more crab meat. I liked the garlic aioli. My husband's main course was the Cali Burger (4 stars) with a side of fries. In a brioche bun, a beef patty was topped with fontina cheese, applewood-smoked bacon (which he would prefer be crispier), avocado, avocado ranch, lettuce, and pickles (which he commented were nicely crunchy and sweet-sour) (no tomato at his request). The total price for the flight, shareable, two mains, and a soda was $98 plus sales tax and tip (plus the earlier $50 fee for the igloo).

We went on Valentine's Day, and the evening started our wonderful, with cocktails at the bar and the lovely touch of the owner's grandson gifting a red rose to the ladies. But then the food came. It was a set menu priced $99 per person. All was going well, until one of our entrees arrived, and they sent out raw chicken. Not slightly questionable - clearly still raw. I wouldn't expect that at Denny's never mind a fine dining establishment. The server was apologetic and took the other plate back into the kitchen to keep it warm so that we could eat together. When the food came back out, my husband's crab cakes had gone dry. On my plate, they had simply removed the raw chicken - not finished cooking it or replacing it, but removed it so that there were only two small pieces of chicken, and a huge pile of gnocchi and a huge mess on the plate where they had not taken the time to clean it up. Which was obviously disappointing. When the bill came, my husband questioned whether something should have been taken off the check based on our experience. The owner came over and eventually took $100 off the bill, which was absolutely fine. But then she concluded with "are you satisfied now, because I would like your table back to give to someone else". I don't recall an owner ever being so rude to a couple who have just spent $400 in a restaurant. Customers spending that kind of money should never feel rushed or spoken to like that (we still had half a bottle of wine, which we might have finished there had our experience been different). All she did was encourage us to write this review and ensure that we will never go back.

We were warmly greeted by Todd and Gina, the owners, who couldn't have been friendlier. Todd told us all about their wines, including the awards they've won, especially in California, and generously offered us the chance to try any of the wines at no cost. We started with the Gruner Veltliner, a bright, citrusy, and crisp wine. It was extremely dry compared to other Gruners we've had, which are usually more fruit-forward, but it was still quite enjoyable. Next, we tried the Riesling, which was also very good. My wife moved over to the semi-sweet side and tried the Traminette, which I eventually sampled after trying all the dry wines. We both really liked it. I then tried the Cabernet Franc, which was a medium-bodied wine with notes of raspberry, blueberry, and a light mocha oakiness--delicious! The Chambourcin was also quite good, without the typical bite or tartness. Lastly, the Flagship Red, a classic Bordeaux-style dry red, had a pleasant hint of pepper and was definitely a standout. Todd shared that they exclusively offer wines from Stony Run Vineyards in Breinigsville, PA, which has a wide selection. They're also planning to offer Old Fashioneds soon, as their winery includes a distillery, and they'll be featuring a "drink of the week" as well. What really sets this place apart, though, is Todd and Gina themselves. They're genuinely kind people who are dedicated to the community, and it was heartwarming to learn that they both served in the US Military--Todd in the Navy and Gina in the Air Force. We're already looking forward to our next visit when we're in the area again. Don't forget to thank them for their service when you stop by!
