Ok, so this needs to be updated but i can't go above 5 stars. This new location is beyond amazing!…read more I originally came here after moving back from Chicago and then moving to Los Angeles (Beverly Hills). I fly home to Syracuse to see Ashley. I'm not kidding. I schedule my vacations around it. The thing is.. over those 8 years my life took some massive downs (some ups) - Ashley became one of the most true and honest people in my life. My cancer treatment started and I decided to cut my hair short - and she did that cut for me (free). My mom died and she reached out and said "come relax and get your hair done - you'll need it before the services" That's someone who truly cares (again didn't charge was just being a good person). She has become a trusted friend, and honestly my hair has never looked better. I cheated on her recently my (ex) doesn't understand how hair works and how it's a part of you (no fault he is almost bald). Ashley did my hair yesterday and we went for a pride theme! OMG. It's insane! This is magazine ready and I'm no supermodel! Marisa's is a creative space where all are included! I've met Marisa maybe 2x and she's a delight!

Before I found her on a whim during my sophmore year of college, I typically got my eyebrows waxed at various nail salons. Unfortunately, I have very sensitive skin and those experiences rarely ended well. Karin's room is cozy and eclectic, which mirrors her personality. During the appointment, she usually has good music playing in the background. She is meticulous and takes her time, which leads to great results. I wouldn't see anyone else for waxing services!

I apologized again and again and told her it was a technical error, and she keeps repeating her frustration at me, while she's laying into me, she uses severe heat and pulls at my roots. She also criticized my hair itself. While I understand that she may have been frustrated, this did not warrant such unnecessary behavior, was a very unpleasant experience.

I am beyond disappointed with this place. I work seven days a week, so when I book an appointment,…read moreit's a big deal for me to fit it into my schedule. This salon clearly does not care about that. First off, no one ever answers the phone. There is no way to get a hold of the owner, and communication is non-existent. My stylist, Lucky, already canceled on me in December for a funeral, which I understood. But then in January, I rescheduled for a Wednesday, and a day later, I saw my appointment was changed in the system without anyone even telling me. When I finally got a hold of her, she said she was "on a movie set." I had specifically picked "Any Staff" when I booked so that I wouldn't have to deal with one person's schedule, so why was I being told I couldn't be seen? If you're busy on a movie set, you shouldn't be taking bookings from the public. When she finally "fitted me in" at 7 PM, the whole thing was half-assed and rushed. I didn't even get to pick my own glaze color; she just did whatever. I told her I was happy to finally get my split ends under control, and she just dismissed me and said, "everyone has split ends." I go to a salon for the experience and to feel seen, but I felt like I was just a nuisance she was trying to hurry up and finish. To make it even worse, my partner's appointment was also canceled last minute because the other stylist didn't have a babysitter. It's just constant excuses here. Then, when it was finally time to go, Lucky didn't even seem to know how to collect the payment. It was so disorganized and awkward. I still gave a 15% tip because I'm a responsible person and I value labor, but honestly, I feel like I was bamboozled. I could have stayed home and done the glaze and the cut myself for way less money and zero headache. I'm done with professional salons if this is how they treat people. I won't be back.

No problem, I waited for her to finish, about 10 minutes past my appointment time. But then she moved on to another client getting a pedicure. Everything from the massage chair to the display of 1,000 nail colors and finishes is top shelf. I've had 2 gel manicures before this which were very nice though the polish started to chip off on this last one after one week, previous experience at other salons has consistently been no chips for 2+ weeks. 20% off pricing is a big plus. My pedicure was not a positive experience. It was a cold day in January, and my feet were ice cold, but instead of warming my feet up and softening my nails in the foot bath, the technician immediately started to cut my toe nails...which really hurt! I told her I wanted to warm my feet up and started to put them in the bath, she pulled them back out! I also have ingrown toenails, so the painful trimming made me yell "Ow!" Loudly! The nail tech then tried to be somewhat gentle- the final result was that my toenails hardly got trimmed. She did give me a very nice foot and leg massage. However, I do not plan to return.

Sorry Yelp engineering team-- I think that 5 stars might not be enough for Hairanoia…read more I was lucky enough to be able to schedule an appointment last minute, presumably due to a cancellation. Note that many of the stylists, especially the owner Michael, tend to book out for months. The online booking system was super simple to navigate, and gave me text updates. My appointment was in the evening, which in itself is a major plus. About an hour before my scheduled time, Michael called me and told me he could accommodate me 45 minutes earlier, which was a major plus. The shop was popping when I arrived-- phones ringing, customers popping in, even though it was the evening. The decor is really charming. Lots of interesting artwork and knick-knacks to catch the eye. When Michael asked, "what are we doing today?" I told him the color I wanted and he took the reins from there, which I appreciated, because I'm not the kind of person who goes to salons very often. Later in the appointment, he also asked if he could do a certain cut he thought would look good, and I said "go for it." I'm not the kind of client that has a specific vision in mind so I'm grateful when stylists use their expertise (but ask you.) Also, Michael explained that the dye he chose was less damaging and would be better suited for my hair, and he also recommended a few other products I should use. Some salons color your hair before they cut it, but I had a lot coming off, so Michael did a quick trim first. He cut it so quickly, I didn't even notice that my hair was suddenly 3-4 inches shorter until I glanced behind me and saw the floor littered with my split ends. Seriously, think this man might be some kind of ninja. When it came time to process the color, Michael asked me if I wanted to sit outside. This was the most unexpected delight of the evening. It turns out, they set up a little outdoor area with gravel, chairs, shade umbrellas, and even a fountain to work with COVID restrictions last year, and decided to bring it back this year. This was such a lovely surprise, and made for an unparalleled hair appointment experience. I don't get outside as much as I'd like to, so I appreciated getting a minute to sit in the sun. Granted, the neighbors were playing loud music so it was not perhaps quite as serene as expected, but I didn't mind so much. Throughout the visit Michael was very nice, as was the rest of the staff. My hair came out nice and the price was very reasonable. In fact, it was like reverse sticker shock-- I was actually surprised at how inexpensive it was. As someone with long hair, I tend to get charged more for these services-- I think because most stylists tend to do color first. Both the inside and outside areas of the salon were beautiful. Definitely recommend this one-- especially in the warm months when you can catch a little sunshine while your hair sets!

I…read morewas so looking forward to going to a renowned stylist and expected the best haircut of my life. It was a mullet, uneven and most of my friends asked what happened to my hair?!?! I know this is supposition, but while being shampooed I think he took my neutral stance on the presidential election (it was the day before election day) as disagreeing with his absolute hatred for Donald Trump. I really was neutral and said so. So....I left wondering if he was too tilted to do his finest work (at best) or deliberately did a botched job (at worst). Needless to say, never ever ever never again. P.S. I used to go there and had a great stylist who left. When asked why, Michael said their political views were very different. Sheesh.... P.S.S. I also know this was two years ago. :)
