As a birthday treat, I got a 90 minute massage and eyebrow wax here. The staff was incredibly friendly, and there were two adorable shop pups. The massage was wonderful and relaxing, and the eyebrow was was very efficient and I loved the results. The salon is beautiful and I wanted to love the place but I was highly mistaken about the kind of person that Kayleigh is. She's sweet at first glance but overall I would say she could work on her customer service a lot. During appointments she loves to say what she thinks would be best in her mind and doesn't really ask you as the client if you like the idea she came up with. For example, when asked for a shorter shoulder length cut, she said she thought it'd look better shorter and said "yeah we're gonna do that" she kinda just makes decisions based off what she thinks is best for you but that's not what everyone wants. some folks aren't great at speaking up or don't know what they want in the moment so for her to not just give a client everything they ask for and to try to convince them to do something different is so insanely unprofessional. Not to mention I left with unevenly bleached highlight. some look gray, some look platinum, and some look straight up yellow. I have literal yellow highlights on some of the hair on the bottom of my head. Highly disappointed as I thought I might for once be able to find a stylist who just does what I need and ask. I thought I'd found that in Kayleigh. But I was sorely mistaken. disappointed and feel like almost $300 was absolutely completely wasted. Neither the cut or color is what I asked for. read more

Today I went in for a mud wrap treatment with aesthetician, Sauna. She starts out by exfoliating your whole body with these special gloves, which feels wonderful! Then she smooths silky, warm, mud all over and let you rest for a while. Next, she gently removes all the clay with warm wet towels. Their website has a 15% off coupon for new clients. I got a Groupon for a spa package for 1 with massage, facial, body wrap and wine for here around Christmas time. It took me several months before I could reach the place. I tried to book online but they didn't have the massage service for my Groupon as a booking option. I made a call and was told by a woman that they'd get back to me. I never received a call back. After 3 weeks, I called the store again and got a busy-tone twice. Then, my Groupon expired. I ended up booking a random service online and writing in the notes that I had a Groupon for a different service. I got a call back from the owner, Robert Joseph, who apologized and honored my Groupon. He was very sweet and accommodating. My massage was wonderful. It lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes, a whopping 1 hour and 20 minutes longer than I expected it to last. The salon space is beautiful and has been recently renovated. I've been to two other massage places in Syracuse and this one was by far the most relaxing-looking and nicely decorated. The space has a nautical/beach theme, which is perfect for a spa, and is very warm and inviting. The front of the store is a lounge/living room area, the right is the hair salon, the middle is the hair shampooing station and cashier, and the back is where the two massage rooms are. Each room is private and warm with their own small fireplaces. You fill out a survey prior to starting your massage and it asks detailed questions about skin products you use and your past experiences with spas. I get itchy/red when I drink wine so I opted for some hot tea instead. If you opt for wine, you have a the option to choose red or white. I was given a weighted cooling eye mask that smelled of lavender. The aromatherapy was nice.The massage started out with a lower leg/foot massage. After that massage, a warm gel is applied with a paintbrush that instantly cools. After it cools, my legs/feet were wrapped. I loved the feeling of the hot gel but didn't love the tingling/cold sensation of the gel. I felt cold throughout the remainder of the massage because the gel was tingling/cooling. I think it'd be a perfect treatment for the hot summers. The same process was applied to my arms and then back. The facial was very thorough. I got my zit zapped by an electric device (it did not hurt) and a face mask. The lower half of my face got a charcoal face mask while the top/T-zone area got a anti-inflammatory cooling mask. After the mask, there was a gel applied to my face that smelled like citrus. Robert made sure to ask me questions about my skin type and medications I might be on and suggested a chemical peel. He's had 11 years experience in this service. A worker called in sick today so Robert had to do a little bit of running in and out of the room to handle business. It interrupted the session but gave me time to relax and half-sleep a little. My favorite part of the massage were the hot towels that were used to remove the body wrap. Robert has a strong hand in massaging, which is perfect for those who have tight knots/tension in their body. During the whole session, there was relaxing music playing. The room was dimly lit and there was a fireplace inside the room that gave the room warmth and a nicer ambience. The salon is located in a neighborhood in a former house/art studio. Since the place has an art history, they sell exhibit art that is for sale inside. Some of the art was created by the owner's sister. There are several parking spots left of the house. I did not see a private lot. You get a discount if it's your birthday month and they offer specials for wedding anniversaries. I'd highly recommend coming here as a way to treat yourself or as a gift to someone special. Their prices for haircuts are very fair ($15 men, $20 women). read more

I had 90 minutes of amazing pampering at this salon. Robert's deep tissue massage, body wrap and facial were absolute heaven. I had a gift certificate that I had bought myself 2 years ago and due to a lot of tragedies, loss of mother and husband,I forgot my certificate. When I found it I called Robert Joseph's Salon and was told that the gift certificates never expired. Woohoo, I scheduled for the following week and had Robert Baynes, the owner, give the full package treatment that I loved and I highly, highly recommend. I have had facials from Lakissa and she was great! I also have had massages from the owner twice. I went to schedule a Groupon for a total package and was told by the owner they "discourage" use of groupon. I was so disappointed with how rude and unprofessional he was I cancelled my $110 Groupon and will never return! Please note I have used a Groupon once for a massage and another for a facial but why offer groupon if you are going to discourage them. When I asked this, I was told to get clients in but you will not get any more referrals from me because I have referred too many people & they love Groupon as much as I do! read more

I had a hair emergency on Monday. My hair was fried, brassy and turning into a mullet. I was going to do my usual routine and head to Walgreen's for another highlight kit when instead I decided to hit up Google and see if there was anyone in the Syracuse area that would get me in on a Monday. That is when I found Dylinn at Robert Joseph Salon. She actually called me to see what my needs were (who does that??). She got me in on Monday evening. Dylinn had a vision and knew that instead of more bleach, she rocked out amazing low lights and toned my highlights. I also got a super conditioner for my fried hair! Once my beautiful dimensional color was done, Dylinn knew just the reshaping I needed to cure my attempt to grow my hair out but was instead turning into a mullet. Dylinn is creative, clever and a great listener who cared about my needs and ideas and exceeded my expectations. Sorry Walgreen's and Ms. Clairol! I made a s appointment with Lindsay for a cut and highlight. She talks me into the Bialoge instead saying it would be less maintenance for me. When she first introduced herself I suspected she was either high or drunk. I tried to keep a positive attitude and see how the cut and color came out. First off, her chair is so low in station that you could not see yourself and I'm tall...she probably doesn't want you to see her falling asleep Yes, Lindsay was tipsy/drunk and falling asleep while doing my hair! This was after she repeated told me how people come from far and wide to get their hair done by her...smh...very doubtful! After my hair came out bright red not carmel like we discussed I asked to speak to the owner, Bobby, and eat him know she had been drinking. He responded that "Yes, she did have a few glasses of wine". Really Bobby?? You condone having your intoxicated coworker work with scissors and chemicals? My hair came out crappy and I thank God I left before I let her cut my long hair. My husband gifted me a spa day package and I couldn't be more happy. Robert was a great host and started the day off with a glass of wine then we began the treatments. He really took great care and the experience was very relaxing. I never felt like anything was rushed as I have in other spas. He did a facial catered to my skin type, body wrap, and massage. Asked for my money to be returned as I could not make the reschedule date that they, not I, set up. I could tell that the owner was not happy about returning my money; he was going to however, until he received a call from my sister letting him know how unsatisfactory this was. When I called him back he was belligerent and rude, stated he does not and will not return my money, that he "doesn't have to because of his policy", which I never read, nor was it ever discussed initially when I made the appointment for my boyfriend. The owner never mentioned that my boyfriends appointment was a promotional item. Never stated that promotional items are non refundable. When I told him I did not sign nor did I see a contract, nor did he say that the package I bought for my boyfriend was a promotional thing, he stated it was because we were "rude" that he is not refunding my money. After contacting the BB, and the Attorney Generals office, he now claims that my boyfriend and I can come for a spa treatment and he sent them a copy of his policy, again which was never discussed with me on the phone. Apparently, I am not going to get my money back. Oh, but he will let my boyfriend and I still use the "promotional" massage packages originally ordered. I went for the Ultimate Spa Package Special. I can not tell you how wonderful this was, no mini services like some places offer, this was a 2 hour package consisting of a Facial, Detox Body Wrap, Tired Leg and Foot Massage Treatment. The salon/spa is quaint and tastefully decorated. Soothing music and pleasant aromatherapy starts off your session. The owner Robert puts you to ease with a smile on his face and it is evident that your relaxation is his main priority. The facial was wonderful and will make your skin glow, the foot and leg treatment was amazing. I am on my feet all day long and several hours later my feet are still feeling great. The body detox worked the knots out of my tense muscles, and the products that he uses makes your skin silky and soft. This very professional young man takes pride in his work and mark my words will go places. We had a nice talk after the session and he tells me that he is expanding. My advice, book your appointments before he gets even busier, these services are something I guarantee you that you do not want to miss. His prices are very reasonable . I am already planning my next visit. So glad that I found this place. I only wished I did not live 70 miles away or I would probably be there every week! read more
