Where do I begin. I got to the restaurant a little early and noticed that this gentleman who had just parked as well had a big smile on his face and was humming a tune as he walked towards the entrance in his nice black slacks and shirt. I walked in at 3:16 pm and was at the hostess desk for maybe 7 seconds when the same gentleman came up, greeted me and seated me. He was by the bar and we got talking about the weather, Texas, NY and life. Still early so he pulled up a chair next to my table and we continued our fun dialogue. Turns out this down to earth and very sweet guy is the owner Emilio Kimble. His wife Maria, also a sweetheart and he have brought this same natural love, care and service to their beautiful restaurant. The restaurant is big with indoor and outdoor seating, a gorgeous bar and tv's galore. My friends Barb and Luci arrived and they got their " usual" Tito's and soda plus a Cab. My Diet Coke was refilled constantly by the our very attentive waitress Emily. The food was stupendous. It had to be as Emilio's and Maria's love was contagious- Luci loved her Diamondback burger( photo). Barbara got really quiet ( a rarity)as she chomped on her tremendous pulled pork burger(;photo) and I got a special tuna salad on wheat with grilled peppers and onions and fresh avocado( photo snapped before I inhaled it). It was a beautiful sandwich. The fries were hot, crispy and tasty. It was a great meal. Big portions too. The regulars poured in and the laughter and fun continued as we moved to the bigger room for the Thursday night trivia. I love that they have a Jazz night, fish fry and shrimp Friday specials, a Billy Joel tribute night, a $16 Easter Buffet in 10 days( sadly I will be in Europe) and so many fun events on the calendar. ( photos). The restaurant is immaculate and bright. There is lots of parking up front. They cater and they deliver. They open daily at 9 am except for Mondays( closed). I am here for a racquetball tournament about 3 miles north and will absolutely bring the guys for the undisputed best meal of their trip. Meh. The staff is really nice. The food is OK. What you should know is that it's in a gated area. So if you try to go into one entrance, you're not gonna be able to get through. I didn't know that. I called the number to speak to somebody to open the gate and the guy told me I had to go around. I tried to explain the guy I didn't know how to go around because I'm not from this area. He then stated "well if you didn't cut me off, I was about to tell you". That was enough for me to tell him don't worry about it. I'll figure it out. I pull up to the other gate and it's him that standing there. He asked me where I'm going and I tell him then, he rest his elbow on my car, tries to look me in the eyes and says "it was really rude of you to hang up on me like that" I explained to him "I didn't like the tone of your voice that's why you got hung up on". He then says "well, what's the address of the place you're going to" like he doesn't know where I'm going You don't need this kind of trouble just to try to go somewhere to get a bite to eat. Let the retirement home people have this place because you're not missing anything. read more

Kimbles restaurant is the restaurant that serves our resort community, Sun Village. This restaurant is so poorly run that we are terminating their contract a year early. The food is mediocre and the service is hit or miss. The residents here don't even consider Kimbles when going out to dine, even though it is within walking distance of our homes. read more

It's nice that Sun Villages opens their gates so nonresidents can enjoy such a pleasant venue where one can sit on a misted patio overlooking a swimming pool complete with a waterfall and water geysers! Inside there is a small bar and there is also a separate room where they have scheduled entertainment. Our server was pleasant but the service was slow and we had to wait quite a while for 2 beers (glad they had some draft offerings rather than just bottles) despite the fact that the bar was just a few steps away. It was nice to see the chef making the rounds and chatting with the customers. The Friday Fish Fry was very tasty and a fair price even though they don't offer AYCE. The slaw had an atypically tasty citrus dressing and if you want a little more, the chef said just ask and you won't be charged. I asked and was glad I did since it was delicious. The 3 cod pieces are battered on site and weren't greasy. The fries were average but good and because the tartar sauce tasted so fresh and good, I used it on them rather than the ketchup. Some problems upon checking out because of some glitches with the Toast dining app, so hope those can be worked out and staff trained to deal with it better. I'm looking forward to trying some other dishes that they showed in sequence on a screen as they looked very tempting. read more

Called in to ask why they are advertising buy one get one free. Employees hung up on me and I was completely cordial. I called back 5 times to speak to manager and after being hung up on several times the owner finally answered and said I had an attitude for asking why his number is on this site and suggesting they might want to look into it. He was very rude. I suggest you don't participate in the service industry if you can't field phone call. I never leave reviews but this guy was ridiculous. This was me trying to give this place a second chance. I went there with my parents and the place was empty except for one couple. We stood there for 5 minutes seeing no one. I asked the couple eating and they said they didn't know where anyone was and they were waiting for coffee for 15 minutes seated. Again no other customers. I had to walk into the kitchen and the kid there asked what I needed. I said I would like to eat with my family. Their hostess was outside washing windows. She saw us but I had no idea she worked in the restaurant. I like to support local business so I thought I would try again. Never again. Stay away from this place. read more

My coworker and I ordered lunch from here through DD. It it was overall disappointing. 1. Wrong item received : got orange chicken instead of the kungpao chicken. Store phone number doesn't work to call to notify 2. The sushi rolls we ordered were fried but they were all soggy. If they could come up with a different packaging system to keep the sogginess to the minimum, it would be nice. 3. No way to contact the store : the number for the business doesn't work. I actually wanted to call them to separate the sushi packaging as I wasn't able to make a comment on DD app. When called, I heard a beep sound and there wasn't an option to leave a VM. read more

We were visiting our mother in Sun Village. Her wish was to have her 86th birthday lunch at Kimbles, and the experience was beyond expectations! I ordered the BLT and everything was excellent. The bread was fresh and thick and perfectly toasted. The bacon was quality and was perfectly crisped. The lettuce and tomatoes were as fresh as can be. The server was so good and treated our mom like a queen. She received a complimentary glass of wine and dessert with ice cream and candle. Then, the server brought a mini desert for each of us at the table! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Check this place out. You won't be disappointed! read more

We had been a regular at Thursday night trivia at Kimbles Kitchen, prior to that we attended Tuesday night trivia. My whole team are residents of Sun Village. We have supported this restaurant ordering food and drinks weekly. All of a sudden, we have been placed on a standby list because he is allowing new teams to come in and his rules have been changed to allow these teams to do so. This is unfair to the long term teams. Doesn't seem right! Bye, Kimball's Kitchen, so much for treating your customers/Sun Village residents right. read more

Omg... this place is horrible. The service, the food everything. It took forever to get our drink and then when it came out the champagne was flat and tasted nasty. I couldn't drink it. The server never came back. Someone brought the food out and it was tiny portions for the price and very plain. The breakfast plate had like 10 tiny French fries on it. No garnishes. They sent out sausage when we ordered bacon. It was almost comical. Still no server or nobody insight. Finally a young man came over to bring the check and he was nice and I felt bad for him cuz he was trying. They overcharged us for the mimosas so they had to fix it which took longer. They advertise $8 fireball shots like that is a deal. Lol!!! This place needs help in so many areas! I was hoping for a new place for breakfast but nope... this is not it sadly! read more

Not impressed at all. Their prices are too high for what you get, service was not acceptable at all. They say that they have sushi, however, twice we have been there and it was not available. We took our out of town guests to dinner there one night and one of them ordered fish tacos and all he got was two tiny tacos, no sides at all on the plate. My husband ordered shrimp scampi and there were tiny shrimp only about six of them and a tiny piece of bread sitting in it, which was soggy. When we asked for a side of mayo for my hamburger, the waitress said oh, I don't think we have that. What???? We will not ever go back. Disappointed to say the least. read more

Kimbles opened recently in the space vacated by Chef Peter's Bistro that moved a few blocks west. Nice atmosphere, but patio seating is the best--shaded and overlooking the pool/spa of the community, with a mist system and patio heaters available. We had breakfast--delicious--and the staff is very friendly. The server even brought a bowl of water for our well-behaved Collie who was welcome on the patio. read more

The food was good although many had cold food in our group. To wait almost 2 hours for the food is wrong and then have the chef make sarcastic comments and have the waitress make excuses for management and take the blame is wrong. I do not recommend. This is the second chance we gave them and not going for the third strike. read more

Well i got no complaints, i've went a couple of times now and the everything is real nice. The staff is alright sometimes they take a bit but the food was great I got a whole lot of food for right about 15 bucks and apart from that the environment is fenomenal. The food here is outstanding. The Diamonback burger is out of this world and the fries with cowboy queso are my favorite. That being said everything I have tried on their menu is delicious.....have tried several of the sushi rolls and they do it right. Customer service is fantastic and the location is great for pick up or use a delivery app and get it dropped at your doorstep. I would highly recommend AK Sushi and Grill for lunch or dinner. We had a group at Kimbles and had set it up months in advance they were not prepared and after an hour and a half some of our group had to leave and never got lunch - after an hour and a half I cancelled the one thing I ordered which was only a cup of soup - We had a similar (not quite as bad last month) it hurt my group moral with such a bad experience due to terrible service, some of the food was cold and the cook who was helping to deliver food had a terrible attitude and a filthy shirt - you dont send people into the restaurant looking that way and then there was a lady walking around with sunglasses on offering water had no idea who she was - very strange - we had already served our own water refills - we had a similar experience with our business networking group earlier in the same week - We won't be bringing our groups back however they really did not seem to care interesting because they lost 600 sales from my group this year at an average of $20 per ticket that is a $12,000 loss to the restaurant too bad managment doesn't understand the cost of a customer. I live in Sun Village and was very hopeful that Kimbles would at least meet or hopefully exceed Peters.......sadly this is not the case. Mediocre is the word here. I want to love it, I want to like it.....but it is just ok. Just. I understand lots of folks have suggested improvements and changes that would tailor this great location to our community. All to no avail. I would add that a survey of all residents of the Village might lead to a successful establishment. Listen to the patrons, listen to the sometimes harsh criticism, and learn. Be open to suggestions. Daily dinner specials comes to mind. A smaller and targeted menu derived from a community survey might help. Enlist your patrons, your neighbors. They truly want Kimbles to succeed. Also a handout paper menu might also help. Something folks can take with them. Minimal investment, with potential return. Wishing Kimbles all the best! The food was amazing! We had the fried gyoza, boneless chicken wings, and edamame for starters they are the bomb!! Then we ordered diamondback 4 cheeseburger and AK rice burger they are so delicious!! The sushi rolls are really tasty and fresh.
