Decent Korean food for Wichita. Dolce Bimbap was served super hot with a crispy rice bottom. This was the best dish, portion was a little small Also ordered the tofu soup, seafood pancake , beef and squid bulgogi and these dishes were pretty decent as well. Food: 3/5 The traditional Korean food was good. It was salted slightly under seasoned and they were skimpy with the soy sauce, bringing a little cup to the table. Seriously just give me a little bottle like everywhere else. The Kimchi stew was good. My husband liked his pork bulgogi and I really enjoyed the beef rolls. I wish they had a slightly larger menu but it seems they prefer quality of quantity'. As far as Korean places heard in Wichita, this is a solid bet. Also, there was not salt or pepper on the table? The place is small yet clean. We ordered Chicken Mandu for appetizer and Chris and I both had the Bulgogi with extra meat for the entree and bean sprouts for extra ban chan. The mandu were tiny and the shell was crispy which we liked but it lacked flavor. The bulgogi was saucy and overly sweet. It looked like minced meat, not the usual thinly sliced beef and it had slices of cabbage. The color was light, not the usual dark due to all the spices in the marinade. We ate there a couple of nights ago while we were in Wichita and I'm wanting to drive all the way back from Louisiana just for honey citron tea! It was So good! The food was delicious as well. 2 of the people with us had never had Korean food and they were pleasantly surprised. My husband has been to Korea multiple times and he loved his food as well. I really enjoy this experience, the biggest drawback was the only Banchan (side dishes) offered were Kimchi and fried tofu. These two side dishes complimented what ordered well but I would've liked to have a bigger variety of Banchan (side dishes). This restaurant is excellent and authentic. I was stationed overseas in Korea for a year and I love Korean food. This place is absolutely worth visiting. My family visited Kimchi this weekend for the first time. I wanted to try Korean food and had heard good things about this establishment. We went at 5 p.m. on a Saturday. Two other couples also arrived at this time. The owners young 3-5 year old excitedly yelled to the kitchen, "More people are here!" It was adorable. The restaurant is small, but I would say that is a benefit, and it is very clean. I had accessed the menu online prior to arriving so I knew what I was going to order-I was nervous I would get it wrong, but even if not, the server was super nice and willing to explain anything we were confused about. I believe this is a family run restaurant and you can feel the homeliness of it. We ordered 2 of the kimbop (bap), ramen with chicken, spicy squid, and the dolsot bibimbap. Everything was amazing! This is one of the few Korean restaurants I've been to in Wichita and I really enjoyed it. Their menu wasn't that extensive, but they had all the popular Korean food options like bibimbap, bulgogi, kimbap, soups, etc. Food: -Kimchi soup ($11.99): I'd give this dish a 3/5. The portion was large and the soup was filling, but it lacked flavor. The soup was quite sour and tangy, which is expected since it's made from fermented kimchi, but I wasn't a fan of how sour it was. I've had better and more flavorful kimchi soups at other restaurants. I'd recommend getting their soft tofu soup instead. My boyfriend usually gets the soft tofu, but he wanted to try the kimchi soup this time. He also preferred the soft tofu over the kimchi, but still enjoyed the kimchi soup nonetheless. "It's all Wichita's got," is what he'd say LOL. -Soft tofu soup ($9.99): I'd give this dish a 4.5/5. Soft tofu soup is one of my favorite Korean foods. I love the texture of the soft tofu and the spicy delicious soup. Kimchi gives you an option between beef and seafood, and I chose the seafood soup. The soup was warm, comforting, and overall really good. However, like the kimchi soup, it lacked some flavor compared to other soft tofu places I've eaten at like BCD or Kaju in California. It was still delicious and hit the spot anyway. The price is also much more reasonable than CA prices as well, so I can't really complain. Both soups came with a bowl of rice and banchan (side dishes). The banchan consisted of kimchi and a soy sauce crispy tofu dish. Both were really enjoyable and the rice was cooked perfectly. Overall: I would definitely come back for the tofu soup when I'm back in Wichita. I would love to try out their other dishes as well. The restaurant was very homey and cute, and the service was good as well. Parking is also super easy since the restaurant is in a plaza with plenty of parking spots. The first time I went with 5 other women, there was a bit of language difficulty. The waitress couldn't really answer questions except it the entree was hot and spicy. Every no r enjoyed their meal and received the meal they ordered. The second time I went, no other customers in the restaurant. I ordered an entree with a fried egg of the top of it. When the brought the my order the egg was raw, skinny looking egg white, and nothing in the yoke was cooked . I asked if they could cook the egg a little more. I don't know if she understood but she acted perturbed me that I did not want to eat a raw egg. She begrudgingly took my order back. My eating companion was 2/3 's fine with their lunch. She's finally brought my order out, I couldn't hardly recognize the egg. It was cooked so much, that the white was rubbery , the yoke had no liquid to it. More like a hard boiled egg. We had one appetizer snd teo entrees. The Bill was almost fifty dollars. Beware the fountain drinks are relative pricey and there are no refills. Don this wasn't a cheap meal, and I was embarrassed introducing my companion there. They need to step up their game . Another hidden gem, for sure! In case you didn't know, my wife and I are among the diner, drive-in, and dive type of food snob. We do our best to find the most obscure and out-of-the-way place, or the less talked-about touristy place to eat. We love asking the locals where they like to go, and try that, occasionally. Today was no exception. We were really in the mood for Korean. One of my wife's friends suggested Kimchi. After finding 2929 Rock Road, #150, we entered to find a very, very small dining room. 7 tables in the whole place. The largest was a five top. We ordered our usual: Dumplings (mandu) for a starter, my wife gets Jop Chae (glass noodles and beef) and I get Bul go gi (seasoned beef). The food, served with a small portion of Kimchi and candied tofu, was very tasty. A little bit too sweet, but great nonetheless. Now... The reason for three stars... There was a ten minute wait between my food getting to the table, and my wife's. There seemed to be a wait so that the two tables of Korean Nationals, that ordered their food AFTER we did could be served first. Don't get me wrong, I'm not pulling any race card on this, but, for as long as we had to wait so that they could be served first? It was pretty obvious as to who got preferred treatment. Cute little place. I would definitely come again. The pricing is extremely reasonable. Instead of the seafood soondubu I asked if I could get a beef soondubu and they were able to do that for me. It started off a bit too spicy for me but it went well with the rice. They served 3 side dishes. I don't think they do refills of the side dishes but I also didn't ask for any. What won me over was their coffee and scone at the end. I was really confused since it was so unexpected at a Korean restaurant and I don't even like coffee. Based on the reviews, other diners had a better meal than I did. I ordered bibimbap (Korean rice bowl) with beef and thought it was quite bland though there was a bottle of a sauce on the table that helped add some flavor. The food was supposed to be temperature hot, but my food was lukewarm at best. I also thought the dish was quite expensive for the quantity I received. The beef in the dish amounted to a small bit of finely ground beef - perhaps 2 tablespoons. There were also small quantities of carrots and several other finely chopped vegetables and all was served over rice. The dish comes with a fried egg on top and that was fine. The best part of the meal was a tiny dish with a little bit of two things - some kimchi - spicy and good and another bit of something else that I couldn't identify though it was tasty. Service was fine - I was the only customer in the restaurant - I've been here before and there never seem to be many customers there. If I stopped by again, I would definitely choose a different dish - perhaps bulgogi. I make bulgogi myself so that is the reason I tried something else. read more

This is my favorite Korean place in town! I have come here many times and I am vegetarian, so I order the soft tofu soup with extra tofu. I was hesitant to try out Kimchi since Korean restaurants are a hit or miss for me and while the number of Korean restaurants in town is slowly growing, I have not been able to find one that I would frequently visit. As usual, I took my sister along to try out Kimchi with me and I guess we are fans since we have revisited several times after. Some dishes we have tried include bibimbap, sundubu jjigae, tteokbooki, bulgogi, and gimbap. My favorite would have to be the dolsot bibimbap which is rice, protein of choice, vegetables, an over easy egg, and gochujang (sweet chili pepper paste) served in a hot stone bowl that is still cooking when delivered to the customer and the gimbap which is basically a seaweed rice roll with various meats and vegetables in it. I also really enjoy the variety of banchan (side dishes) that were served along with our food. My sister favors the bulgogi, she says it is marinated nicely and cooked perfectly to be enjoyed with rice. The selection of dishes here is a lot smaller than most Korean restaurants that I have encounter, but I think the quality of the food makes up for it. I do not go here as much as I used to when I was interested in trying new items from the menu, but I usually order a roll or two of the gimbap to-go nowadays. The décor here is really homey and cozy, it gives the comforts of eating at home while enjoying a restaurant setting at the same time. Both of the owners, husband and wife, are really nice and sweet. When a restaurant puts their hours on the glass door, I trust their words and make sure I arrive between those hours. It was a nice day and I got there around 11:05am. The door was left ajar, with a chair used as a door stopper. I stood in front of the establishment with a hesitant look on my face. Two guys got out of their car and approached me. They asked if anyone was inside. I shrugged my shoulders and told them to go in first. The two gentlemen walked in and I followed them. There was no one. "Hello? Is anyone there?" one of the guys asked. The lights were off but we could near noises from the back. Approximately fifteen seconds later, a lady walked out of the kitchen and greeted us. She thought we were together but I quickly told her I was waiting for a friend. She seated the guys and then took me to my table. Service was kind of slow that day, but since it's a new establishment I'll let it slide. I understand it's a family business, but they should hire a server who is more fluent in English (I'm assuming they will). We had to repeat some stuff multiple times for our host/server/cashier to understand. She was extremely nice and polite though. She reminded me of an older cousin or a very young auntie. My friend and I enjoyed our food. There wasn't anything particularly special but everything satisfied my craving for Korean cuisine. I ordered the squid tempura and it was so delicious! My friend got the squid bulgogi and I got the beef bulgogi. We liked both dishes. My only concern would have to be the rice. Korean food is usually pricey but most of the places I've been to usually give us unlimited rice and they're usually in a separate metal bowl rather than on a plate. The amount of meat to rice was remarkably unbalanced. Not only that, this was also the first Korean place I've gone to that didn't serve kimchi as a side dish. How ironic considering the name of the restaurant. As I've mentioned, they're still new so I'll give them some time to make adjustments. I'll come back again in the near future. My first experience with kimchi to be honest wasn't all too spectacular. Food had little taste and there was no free refill on pop. You had to by another can for $1 more. Which kinda sucked cos i had 3 cans without realizing it. I suppose i should have expected that since they were given in cans. Anyways, the first time i ever went was about a week after they opened so i understand they're still new so i tried again today. They have improved tremendously! The tofu seafood soup i had last time (i believe the correct term soondubo but I'm not 100%) it was full of flavor and it was beyond my expectations. Probably the best ones i've had in wichita. I also had kimbap which had an interesting twist. I've only ever had kimbap with beef or tofu but you can get kimbap with tuna which was delicious. Definitely my favorite korean place in wichita. This place is little known about because you can't see it from the street. It's in the shopping center of the huge Bank of America. I really like the flavors of the authentic Korean dishes here. My favorite are the japchae and the Korean ribs. The servings are decent sized. This place is a little higher on pricing, but that is understandable because the food quality is good.
