We come here periodically for celebrations and always look forward to returning. The atmosphere is romantic and consistent with fine dining. The service is always top notch, just as it was with Justin last night. I tried the bavette steak, which was juicy and full of flavor and I topped it with some garlic butter shrimp, which were also tasty. The tiburon salad was great, so were the side veggies and potatoes. My wife tried the elk, which was also delicious and didn't come off gamey as some venison does. After several visits to sister restaurant Tiburon, we finally made it over to Hoof and Vine! And I thoroughly enjoyed myself there. We went to Hoof and Vine for a birthday recently. We tried the macaroni appetizer with crab and bacon. It's delicious! I also enjoyed the bread and herb butter and Tiburon salad, and my bavette steak with the Wellington add-on was good, too. The real star of the menu was dessert! The peanut butter and chocolate ganache was delicious; the shortbread caramel tart was better. It tasted like a very fancy Twix! Service was a little slow, which was perhaps surprising for a Wednesday in mid-October. But one server brought small toys for our toddler to play with, and another gave her a free strawberry sorbet. Hoof and Vine has a little more urban and less rustic feel than Tiburon, so the atmosphere felt a little less special to me. But overall, it's a great spot for a nice dinner. It was more upscale than I anticipated. $170 for two...but definitely delicious and a good experience. First, the table bread is amazing, we asked for a second basket. Drinks were good, Moscow mule for me, moscato for my date. She had the salmon with mashed potato's and a house salad, I had the New York strip with cheesy potato's and Caesar salad. They crush pistachios instead of using croutons and honestly, that's genius. I'm not a fan of croutons, they cut the roof of my mouth, so crushed pistachios instead, I loved! I came to Hoof & Vine for the first time over the weekend. It was a great dining experience. Even though it's in a busy plaza I got a spot right in front. If I wasn't so lucky there are plenty of spots in the parking garage by the Cinemark theater. The staff was super friendly and on top of service. The ambiance was a little darker, lively, but still intimate. The table bread and (roasted red pepper?) butter were yummy. I love a good butter. I ordered a zero proof Paloma, which was refreshing. To start we had the crab cakes. Hot, fresh, nicely cooked. I wish they were served with a lemon wedge, but the sauce was tasty. The Tiburon salad was so flavorful and hearty. We ordered the mushroom appetizer and it was NASTY. Tasted of mushrooms straight from the container you purchase them in. The bread you are given was EXCELLENT! Both me and my husbands favorite. The portions were a good size and the steak was really tender and good. The sides (We each got a different potato) were ok, mediocre, but not a huge fan of either. My 75 year old wife and I have eaten at this restaurant at least a half dozen times, and it is a favorite for at least two of our children. I made a reservation for two for the day after Valentine's Day, and I complied with the rules that were shown on the reservation website. When we arrived, I was told that they had canceled our reservation because I hadn't left a credit card number. Number 1: The reservation site showed that a credit card was only necessary if the reservation was for a group of five or more. Moreover, I had called the evening before and had confirmed the reservation. No one had suggested to me, or required, a credit card, or I would have gladly provided it. So, I asked the hostess to please get the manager, and he quickly appeared, announcing that he was the manager and the owner. I explained that our reservation had been cancelled and he was curt, rude, and embarrassing to me in front of a number of people who were waiting to be seated. He told me that when I had called to confirm our reservation, I had been told that I had to go to the website and provide a CC number to hold the reservation. ABSOLUTELY UNTRUE, AS I WOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY DONE SO. This manager/owner has no idea how to treat a loyal customer, and because he was loud enough to make his accusatory excuses, I felt humiliated and angry. 2. He also told me that the restaurant had texted me and tried to call me, and when reviewing my calls with him, he said of the only entry on my call list, "That is us." I remember that the phone had rung during my afternoon walk with my dog. I had answered within two rings, but the call had dropped. (I had assumed, since there was no caller identification, that it was just another SPAM call, like the dozens of others I receive each day. 3. I then looked at my texts, and sure enough, there was a text asking me to go to the reservation site and provide a credit card. BUT, LIKE THE CALL, IT TOO DID NOT HAVE ANY IDENTIFIER THAT WOULD HAVE SET IT APART FROM THE MANY BLIND SPAM TEXTS I GET DAILY. I really do love the food at Hoof and Vine, but that is the shabbiest, rudest treatment I have ever had at any restaurant--and by the supposed owner, to boot! My wife and I would love to eat there, but the restaurant 1. canceled a confirmed reservation 2. failed to provide a properly identified number in an attempted call to my cell 3. sent a text that also had no identification and which I had not seen 4. violated it's own printed reservation rules which required a CC number only for groups of five or more. I have texted the restaurant twice, asking for an email for the owner/manager so that we can communicate, but the restaurant has ignored the texts. I don't know where else these cheap Utah Folks eat but .. a steak at Texas road house is no where close to this quality and they charge $30.. She was extremely friendly and explained items on the menu. We order a few drinks, starters and our entree at the same time. Spacing between everything was great. Gave my wife and I time to enjoy our anniversary is the absence of our children. Everything was executed perfectly IMO. We noticed that multiple people helped our table beside our server. The team work was something I haven't really seen but it worked amazingly. When the bill came there was a discrepancy. We brought it to the servers attention that our crab cakes had not been charged to the bill. We ordered it and wanted to make sure we paid for our items. She explained it was not an oversight that it was comped due to us waiting a few minutes at the beginning of our arrival. This one has been on my list of places to try for awhile, and after continuing to hear people rave about it, I finally made it a point to get over there. My wife and I enjoyed a date night and are already looking forward to returning. This is owned by the same folks that run the Wild Rose, a fine dining restaurant in South Jordan that I've visited a few times. The vibe is fairly similar-strip mall location, minimal décor and quiet ambience. The service is impeccable. We interacted with 2-3 staff members and each one was professional and friendly, without being overbearing at all. Our drinks were always topped off and we were checked on the appropriate amount of times. They were able to answer a few questions about the menu as well as make recommendations. Now, on to the food. Everything we ate was outstanding. We started with the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. The shrimp were large and flavorful and the cocktail sauce was also very good, although there wasn't much of it. That's probably ok since it has such a strong flavor, you really didn't need much-we are just used to having enough to dunk the shrimp in. After the shrimp, we enjoyed a green salad. I ordered mine without cheese and it was perfect. The house dressing had a light and tangy flavor to it-a perfect pairing with the greens. We also put away a loaf and a half of bread. But the bread wasn't even the star of that show, the butter, which I usually shy away from, was tremendous. Each bite was a dance of flavor in my mouth. For our entrees, we ordered steaks, as you do in a steakhouse. They were cooked just as we each requested and were presented beautifully. By the time we got to the main course, I was nearly satisfied, but I didn't want to put it right into a box. I had a few bites and kept going until it was halfway gone. I couldn't stop myself, it was so good. Finally, I realized that I was full and that this wonderful meal could continue in the form of leftovers, so I had the rest boxed up. After spending much time looking for a nice restaurant I decided on Hoof and Vine. It was Monday evening so a reservation was not necessary and upon arriving the hostess was lovely. Seafood is one of my favorites so I was excited to try the crab cakes and as a veggie lover the grilled artichoke sounded fabulous. Unfortunately, despite the best effort of the pleasant server, the crab cakes arrived and were cold and the grilled artichoke was more like a charred artichoke. Both appetizers were lacking flavor other than the fishy taste of the crab cakes. Due to the disappointing appetizers and the cost of an actual dinner I chose to leave without having an entree. This is a really solid restaurant. It's deceptively "strip mall" looking from the outside, but the inside is nicely lit and impeccably clean and well apportioned. They definitely love empty wine bottles for decorum which is fun. There's a couple different areas of the restaurant for seating, some open space with tables and a more secluded area tucked near the kitchen entrance with booths, that's where my girlfriend and I were seated. The only reason this is a four star review is actually the proximity to the kitchen. There is no door and there's some noise that floats through the dining area, small gripe but some swinging doors would make sense there. Started with cocktails and the Mac and cheese appetizer. Cocktails were good, mac & cheese was sensational, the bacon and crab combined for a savory bite and it was seasoned perfectly with a nice ratio of breadcrumbs on top. Wine by the glass selection was okay, bottle menu wasn't too extensive. Got a couple glasses with our entrees and the pours were generous! I love that the meal comes with a salad, palate cleanser and sides. She had the Tiburon house salad and I had the Caesar. A good course but nothing standout. Entrees, the lady had the NY Strip rare with the mashed potatoes. I had the ribeye medium rare also with mashed potatoes, but added a Wellington on the side. This has been to date one of the best steaks I've had in the valley, both our cuts were cooked absolutely perfectly. Sides were tasty and well seasoned. Nice touch with the trio of steak sauces which were all a delicious variety add. Finished with a rich, dark French press coffee and the peach bourbon bread pudding with the cinnamon cream and it was again, incredible! A very well put together classic steakhouse meal. We were invited by a close friend to have a nice fine dining experience at this restaurant. To say it was a fantastic experience is an understatement, it will be a dinner that myself and family will remember for the rest of their lives. The wait staff was on point and paid very close attention to everything, including our beverage levels. The menu is smaller, but it makes sense and having that smaller menu means they can take a little more time perfecting the menu. I was with a large group and we had the fried brussels sprouts appetizers as well as the homemade potato chips with Parmesan garlic and truffle oil. On a whim, we got the artichokes as well and were not disappointed in the least (research how to eat an artichoke properly before ordering) and all of the salads that you could choose from were unique and wonderful in their own ways. As far as the mains go, everything was wonderful from the 6 ounce fillet to their 16 ounce porterhouse. The big, big big winner, though was the elk, I have never had meat taste that fantastic before. I promise you nobody is paying me to leave this review. We truly had a wonderful time. The ladies I were with The would probably say their favorite part was dessert. Came here for dinner for a steak dinner I won from my friend. Walking in, the dimly lit interior makes it look fancier than it is. The placemats were super cheap feeling and super slippery. Naturally, everyone got a steak at the steakhouse. All four of us got the ribeye, 3 medium rare and 1 rare with the mushroom and Brussel sprouts to share. I will admit for someone that doesn't eat Brussel sprouts, it was surprisingly good. The mushrooms were ok at best, not much of a taste. The sorbet pallet cleanser was an interesting choice. The most disappointing part was definitely the steak. While it was a good idea to try to charcoal the steak, the temperature control was atrocious. Of the 3 medium rares, mine was medium, and the other two were medium rare and rare. I would say one of them was even more rare than the rare. Furthermore the steak didn't have much flavoring, forcing you to dunk it in one of their 3 sauces. Last part was the service. Wow... this must have been the slowest it took for my food to come. First time enjoying H&V. Absolutely coming back. For starters we enjoyed the Truffle Potato chips, tasty little bite, as well as the crab cakes. These were by far the best crab cakes I have ever had. My goodness, they were tender, buttery on the inside, with a perfect crispness in the outside, and I quite literally could bathed in the sauce. After having them for the first time the night before and loving them these were a step down. The shrimp were good except one had lots of shell stuck to it, after 2 bites I just tossed it. Filet was cooked well and same issues with the veggies. Seems they put them on the plate early while waiting for the steaks to cook so when they come out they are just warm. Salad was best part of the meal. Tiburon salad was excellent! Fresh greens with nuts. As a fan of their sister restaurant, Tiburon, I dined at Hoof & Vine nearly as soon as they opened a few years back. I recall finding it neither outstanding nor terrible, but unexciting enough that I harbored no desire to return. During the pandemic, in an effort to support small and local businesses, I have actually been eating out more; so on a Wednesday night, when H&F was serving up their burger special, I placed a take-out order. I called shortly before 6pm, and it was ready within about 25 minutes. We pulled into a parking space, they shouted for our name, and quickly brought the food out. Easy peasy! Back home, everything was still warm and well packaged. I had the salmon, which includes a side of funeral potatoes, perfectly tender-crisp vegetables, and a salad. The salmon was a touch fishy and overcooked, but still delicious. The Hoof & Vine house salad is good, and I quite enjoyed their rich bleu cheese dressing, but it pales in comparison to Tiburon's exemplary fontina and apple bedecked creation. Currently, you have your option of either with take-out orders, but this may change once business is back to usual, so take advantage and eat all the Tiburon salad you can now! The ($20) burger special changes weekly, and though we cried to have missed one featuring mozzarella sticks (!!!) about a month ago, found ourselves pleased with what we received: a well-seasoned and juicy patty topped with swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and arugula, on a Stoneground bun. I very rarely enjoy a bun with my burger, but this excellent brioche was a happy exception! As a side, it included flavorful and crisp seasoned fries along with excellent lightly pickled vegetables. If looking to give H&F a try without spending $30-$40+ an entrée, this is a great option. Note: you can sub the beef with a Beyond patty. Lastly, the still-warm slices of baguette and slightly sweet roasted peppery butter are worth a visit on their own merit. I had forgotten how incredibly delicious that is. Get some! I was truly surprised by how much I enjoyed everything. I found myself wishing we had waited for their Thursday dinner special, which is incredibly generous as it features a whole spread of food for four, plus dessert, at $100. Which leads me to the main negative: they are in the sphere of fine dining, and the price can feel high. I was satisfied and not unhappy to have paid what we did, though $35 salmon should be a bit more skillfully prepared. I don't think the interior and ambiance of the restaurant quite matches up with this, either, which may have contributed to my former disinterested feelings. Lastly, much like the Tiburon, while most of the food is very good to excellent, inventive and creative it is not. Options consist of the standard chicken/steak/fish. Still, I was pleasantly surprised, and certainly will not wait so long to have a meal here again. Update: We returned exactly a week later, again on a Wednesday for the burger special. They killed it once more in the bun department, this time with a pretzel variety and mustard cream cheese smear(!!!). I had the crab cakes as an entree, and would highly recommend them. The sauce and pepper-based relish is delectable, crab cakes moist with little filler, and the whole thing came together beautifully with their sides (in fact, as I was carrying my plate of food at home, I tripped and fell, but landed on my elbow with the plate in the air, sacrificing a good deal of skin with a fantastic scrape, but saving my meal, and I don't regret it one bit!). My husband and I snagged an ultra-rare date night and decided to make it memorable. We've visited the Tiburon Fine Dining (by Chef Ken Rose) restaurant twice and have been very pleased. Hoof and Vine is another restaurant by Ken Rose so we wanted to experience this one as well. The Hoof and Vine is sensual, classy, romantic, and utterly delectable. We started with the fried brussels sprouts and were delighted. They were wonderfully simple and perfect. They were beautifully roasted with a tender crunch and the sauce was flavorful and rich. I love brussels sprouts, but even a person who despises them will change their religion after these little wonders. The complimentary bread is pleasant, but it really serves as the medium for the incredible butter. Like the compound butter at the Tiburon, it is a savory and unexpected mix of herbs, like garlic and rosemary, and roasted red pepper with a balsamic splash, giving the little dome a beautiful orange-red color and fresh, explosive flavor. We both then enjoyed the salad courses -mine, the Caesar, and my husband's, the Balsamic dressed, walnuts, and apple salad. Both were a joy, even unnecessarily so. They were not overdressed or burdened with patches of yummy mixed with bland leaves and fruit/veggies, but consistent, coherent, and perfectly fresh. We ordered a 12 oz New York Strip and a special - a wagyu surf-and-turf. The wagyu was a dream. Full of flavor, utterly melt-in-your-mouth - it is a way to truly spoil yourself, and Hoof and Vine did it right. Perfect cook, wonderful seasoning, it was fabulous. My strip steak with also top-tier. Excellent cook, amazing and rich flavor, and tender. The New York Strip beef is North American Piedmontese which, to avoid too much technical jargon, has a particular inactive gene that causes the animal to have more muscle and less fat than other beef cows, making this a healthier choice of beef. Compliments to the sensibilities of Chef Ken Rose. Because we were feeling particularly indulgent, we then added the Fried Bread Pudding. The dessert was positively heavenly. Again, super simple with peaches, Challa bread, bourbon, and brown sugar whipped cream, but done with a deftness that made it simply amazing. It was warm, spiced, crispy, and temporarily obliterated the word "bland" from my vocabulary. I have a feeling that you will also enjoy this. To add to the experience, the service was very professional and friendly, but careful not to disrupt the romance and intimacy of the environment, which was candle-lit, warm, and soft. The food came quickly but with enough time to prove that it was indeed a fresh dish. The server was informative and had a depth of knowledge of the menu and the overall brand. The Hoof and Vine easily scores a 5/5 and has become my favorite restaurant for a date or anniversary (or a date-to-future-anniversary) night. This isn't a strong 4-star and for the prices they charge, it should be. I don't mind spending stupid money on a really nice meal. This certainly fell into the stupid money category, but didn't quite make it to a "really" nice meal. No surprise that I went with steak. Even less of a surprise, my wife stuck with Salmon. The steak was a good cut but nothing special when it comes to flavor. They did have a dipping sauce assortment which I typically would not bother with, but it needed the help. The funeral potatoes, yes that is a Utah thing, were very good. My wife enjoyed her salmon, but much like my steak, it was just average. The restaurant had a nice vibe to it, and I am sure it would be a good date night location but I would not go out of my way to eat here again. If I am dropping over $100 on a dinner for two, I need my socks knocked off. At least one of them. I left with my feet fully insulated. Now this one could be on me. I see some solid 5 stars in their reviews but I have become a steak snob and if I am going to pay Ruth Chris prices, I expect Ruth Chris quality.
