I mean...flash forward the day before my wedding, I tried my dress on, and at the 11th hour and my dress was too big...I was so upset because I didn't know what to do...from my last fitting, my dress fit perfect, I had lost another 7 pounds....and there I stood looking in the mirror and my bust area was now too big, on the sides and the arms had such a big gap. I had an appointment for an alteration for a special occasion and was stood up without apology, returned call, or text: very unprofessional and irresponsible. I called in advance and confirmed with Sophy my appointment; however the day of my appointment a sign was on the door that they closed early. I called the shop and Sophy's cell phone and left messages reminding of the appointment and stating that I had no back up plan to get the alteration and risked missing the event I needed the alterations for. I received no returned phone call, no acknowledgment, and Ofcourse no apology. I had been coming to Kimly alterations for at least 2 years before this happened. I was running out of time, probably had less than a month to get two wedding dresses altered on top of my sister's bridesmaid dress that had to the fixed in a week. She did an amazing job; I did want my wedding dress fitting slightly loose than perfect for my body, and she fixed it again very nicely. And what was even more amazing was the price. The alteration place that I originally got my dress quoted twice the price for my main dress. Let me tell you, it was a hard alteration because nothing fits me. I probably wear 00, and dress I got was size 2, so there was a lot to be altered. She still did an amazing job for a very good price. Beware! She started off very nice and then came the fitting. I also really felt like I was over charged for the alterations I needed . It was my wedding dress and she acted like she was offended that I pointed out the things that where wrong when I came in to try it on and then was going to charge me more to fix her mistakes. The part that pissed me off was she left the extra fabric on the shoulders, like flapped over that should have been removed. It was lazy. I brought her an expensive sport coat to have its sleeves shortened and taken in on 1/29/16. She promised me that I could pick it up in 2 weeks on 2/13/16. When I came there on that day, she said she was not done yet and I would have to come back later. I thought she might have forgotten about my jacket and would rush to get it done for me to pick up later. I suspect my suit would look crappy. And it turned out I was correct. It looked like a piece of junk due to her rush. One sleeve was substantially longer than the other. It seemed as if she didnt shorten it at all. I was pissed but tried to stay calm and asked her to have it redone. She said that she would have it done by next Tuesday 2/16/16. I came back and the sleeves were still crappy. One sleeve at the cuff was not tucked in properly. The buttons on the sleeves were not spaced correctly. I asked her to have it re-made and she didnt seem happy. What the heck. You took my money and delivered a piece of junk and expected me to accept it?!? She had the sleeve re-made unhappily but not the buttons. I just wanted to get it over with so I just left. I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS PLACE AGAIN FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I have just found a reliable alteration shop called Luis Alteration in Old Town, Alexandria VA.
