We have been ordering kimos for years. My husbands phone broke earlier so I called to see if they would be able to call my number instead when our order was delivered. I was spoken to like a child and persistently told I need to update the number next time because it's going to confuse the driver and that they are backed up and that I should have updated it....I don't really know why it was made to be such a big deal, I wasn't rude and wanted to communicate with them so the driver wasn't confused. We Love their food and have been ordering with them for years, but why am I getting spoken to like I'm a child. UPDATE: Hi Mike! Please, where in my review did I call your staff children, I said they spoke to me like I was a child ? When I called I said my husbands first name instead of last name which we quickly realized. I wasn't rude to her, I didn't know making a mistake would cause you to be so upset. Things happens , mistakes are made I tried fixing it and was met with immediate frustration from your staff. You guys have a rep for never taking responsibility for your bad attitude towards customers. This was such a simple issue, and I have the right to voice my experiences. I didn't leave out any details. If I was nasty I'd understand your response, but attacking every customer that has something to say just isn't professional. I am also not a person that believes the customer is always right , but when did it become to standard to respond with such disregard. I'm being generous with a 2 star rating. I got a chicken shawarma bowl. None of the flavors work well together. The rice and chicken were extremely dry. There was no taste at all. No flavors. The pickles in the bowl tasted rancid. I got a Moroccan mint lemonade. I think it's made with iced tea because this did not taste like lemonade. It had an odd taste. I don't think I'd come back. Solid 3.5 rounded up. Tried this place for the first time today after the beach. Got a lamb gyro pita w/fries. It totally was not what I was expecting, it was actual chunks of lamb meat instead of the typical gyro meat you see on a spinning skewer. The pita bread had a very nice flavor, the meat was good, but a few pieces were tough. Fries were fine, a touch of salt would have kicked them up a bit. I think I went in with the expectation of of being a Greek place, but leans a bit more toward the other Mediterranean countries. read more

I got the Thick Chick and surprisingly really liked it. I must admit I thought I ordered a pita wrap but wasn't mad about receiving a chicken sandwich While I often crave chicken sandwiches, they don't always make me feel the best. This one, however, both tasted great and didn't feel super unhealthy. The chicken was quite crispy on the outside while still being juicy, and had great flavor. My only food-related complaint is it felt small. In terms of service, you order from the front and they bring the food out to you. There's a couple of tables inside but a much larger outdoor eating area in the back. The place was not much to look at and was cramped inside. However, it does have a nice outside area that was relaxing. I ordered the falafel mahshea which is falafel stuffed with eggplant and harissa for myself. For my son I ordered the pita with steak shawarma, baba ghanoush, stuffed grape leaves, beet salad, white sauce and Tahini The food was 5/5 and was very tasty. I have never had falafel stuffed with harissa and eggplant. The crust was crunchy and the filling was soft and delicious. My son ate his pita sandwich. I tried some of it and loved it. You order the food at the counter and the food is brought to you. The only negative is was the service. One of the workers was complaining about closing the door when leaving the outside area. I had chairs, an umbrella, bag and my son in tote. The time spent complaining he could have closed the door since he was a foot away from it. I would visit again for the wonderful food! read more

Incredibly rude service. And the meats were spoiled. I began eating my food only to notice a really pungent smell & taste. I tried to tell the owners that the food tasted like it went bad, however he was extremely rude and tried to tell me that I was incorrect. The owner refused to give me a refund and his employer began insulting me. They raised their voices and became very rowdy. I left the food at the counter and walked away and his employer told me that I should "get food from a deli next time". Overall, incredibly rude & unprofessional. 1/10 would not recommend. Save yourself the trouble, & the money. Will be reporting the quality of the meats to the department of Food & Safety. Update: The meat choppers has replied (check the screenshot) & I think my point here has been proven; extremely unprofessional! & just so we're clear, we didn't return the food because of the price; $40 is nothing. I returned it because the meats were spoiled. Good luck arguing that to the department of food & safety. Also, how delusional are you guys? There's a ton of 1 star reviews stating the exact same thing that I'm complaining of. Imagine chipotle but Mediterranean with tons of different options for wraps, bowls and entrees. We ordered a bowl and a wrap each with the option of making the wrap a deluxe with fries. The food is available for eat-in and take out. We chose to eat in and were served the food. On a cold day, the indoor seating was nice but quiet. The two working up front were friendly and helpful with any questions we had. For a smaller place, bathrooms tend to be overlooked but the bathroom at Kimo was so nice and clean, an absolute plus. read more

Great little place for fresh Middle Eastern food. Very nice owner and workers, order up front and they bring to your table. We had rice bowls one with steak and one with lamb, my only complaint was the steak being very tough, if it was sliced thinner it would have been better. Very small space with outdoor seating, it was a bit chilly, but we'll be back. read more

We spent the day at Rockaway Beach and stopped by Kimo's for lunch. The restaurant was small, but they had cute outdoor seating in the back! We ordered a Pita and Bowl at the register and they brought the food out to us in the back. The wait for the food was a little long. Bowl: The Marinated Grilled Chicken was salty and a little dry. However, we really enjoyed the Baba Ganosh and Hummus. We did wish the bowl came with more toppings. Note: We both got awful stomach aches an hour or two after eating the food. At that point, Kimo's was the only thing we ate so we're not sure if the meal is what caused it. read more

Kimo's is a 5 Star Gem & a Top spot for Falafel. Walking to my car in a public parking about a block away I decided on lunch before driving home from visiting a friend by the beach. After a short walk I stumbled upon this place about a block away beside an icecream shop that I frequent. I'm passing I noticed that Kimo's usually has a line and now I know why. Walking in the owner politely greeted me and I walked in and found the "Gyro of MY Dreams". No really. A Fat Boy. A Chicken Gyro with Homemade fries that came with 2 different options. I HAD to have it! I ordered it with lettuce and tomatoes and Oh My my my.... After placing my order I decided to walk around and checked out the back yard space which was beautiful. It had a plant wall and a mural of the dessert with camels. There was plenty of space to sit family style and it was clean. Coming back inside they have super fresh EVERYTHING. Dessert, toppings, foods that I have yet to experience and name, Baklava. Then I was awarded with the cinematic view of my gyro being constructed and got to chatting with the owner. Come to find out his two young daughters work with him (one at the register, and one manning the grill) a Family Business- how dope. He boasted the BEST #1 Falafel and after going home and taking down that gyro- I just can't see him being wrong. You ever bite into something and then pause... The sauce was homemade- I repeat The Sauce Was Homemade. I can't even explain they melange of flavors - It was literally AMAZING. There was a sauce on the chicken and then the white sauce chefs kiss! I have to just back to find out what was in it. I was like where has this place been all my life?!! I grew up in FarRockaway so to see and taste this authentic Mediterranean food makes my heart full. Love this place. Their falafel mahshea is a contender for best in the city. Perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, stuffed with either feta and olives or harissa and eggplant. I've tried both versions, one on its own and one in a sandwich with beets, pickled turnip, feta and garlic sauce. Have tried the chicken shawarma platter as well, love all the different toppings and sauce choices they offer with each dish. Great flavored lemonades, especially the ginger peach, Moroccan mint is good as well. They have a nice backyard that is open air but covered. We ate there in the rain and stayed perfectly dry. If you're in the Rockaway Beach area and craving Mediterranean/Greek food you MUST try Kimo's. They offer classic Mediterranean dishes. My go to is a bowl (which you customize) with Moroccan rice and whatever other toppings I feel that day. I'm not going to tell you what you should get, but there hasn't been anything I disliked. We came here on a Sunday for lunch shortly after it opened at 12pm. It was a hot day during summer. We ordered and paid at the counter, then went to sit in their courtyard at the back. They have a nice set up, with both bench tables for groups, and individual deck chairs with sand, that makes you feel like you're in a tropical setting. The wait for our food was a bit long, considering we were in a fast casual place, and we were the only ones there. When it came, the food was excellent. I got the bowl, with a lentil base and falafel protein. The falafel was excellent, crisp on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. It's one of the best that I've had in New York. My husband's chicken shawarma pita was similarly delicious. It was covered in a thick tahini sauce, with crumbles of feta that paired well with the chicken. We've eaten here twice now after visits to Rockaway Beach. Would recommend for take out or a casual sit in meal. read more

Kimos is a hidden gem a few minutes away from the beach! Simply stated, Kimo's serves the best Mediterranean food I've ever eaten. Though I don't live in the area, I'm excited to head back to Rockaway Beach mainly for another chance to eat here :) I recommend ordering a bowl and trying their falafel! Went for a bike ride to visit my friend pet shop next door and never noticed this great little places tucked away on the block next to the ice cream shop. I love middle eastern foods bc of the flavors. They do make their falafels with favs beans instead of chickpeas. The Fattoush Salad so good and you can tell he uses high end ingredient bc you can see their is Bibb lettuce red leaf baby spinach etc. the pickled onions are to die for and the zataar bread with the falafel platter is delicous. This is newish (for us) Greek restaurant in Rockaway Park. This is our first time coming here. We ordered inside and ate in the pretty patio area in the back. We ordered 2 chicken shawarma on pita with tomatoes, onions and spring mix with garlic sauce on one and white sauce on the other sandwich We also ordered a steak sharwarma on pita with tomatoes, onions and spring mix with white sauce with a side order of fries. The chicken pitas were very good and flavorful. I ordered the steak shawarma on pita and It was very good also. The owner and servers were very nice and helpful, they even allowed my son to bring in food from another restaurant. The owner said that all of the restaurants in that area were like family to each other........I really like and appreciate that familiarity in a group of restaurants.
