This is a tough one. I stayed here the other night and to me it was a 50/50 split of liking it and not liking it. The hotel itself was gorgeous. Right in the heart of Baltimore with easy access to everything. It was clean and old with amazing history. Nothing like a typical hotel stay at your Marriott or what not. The problem I had was that it was outdated in a bad way. Very basic things and old furniture. Not what you'd expect from such an expensive 4 star hotel. The ice room on the 8th floor where I stayed was absolutely disgusting! Trash on the ground and scummy looking floors as well as a dirty ice maker. The Halls were clean as well as the room. The bathroom was just ok. Slick marble floors which looked great but a fall hazard as it was an open shower so I good amount of water made its way out onto the main bathroom floor. Not what I want to step in as I'm getting out of the shower. The towels were not soft at all, the plus side is you get extra exfoliating as you dry off leaving you with a fresh new layer of skin! Lol! The bedding was also wierd. No fitted sheets...just flat sheets which came undone while sleeping which was not nice because I do not want to make contact with the mattress during the night. Didn't quite understand that. I also work in a hospital and the sheets and bedding (no joke) were on par with hospital sheets. Extremely disappointing. There is a fully stocked mini bar/fridge with plenty to choose from including water and snacks at hotel mini bar pricing (make sure you read the prices before you go to town on that stuff unless you want to break the bank). The staff was very nice and professional, the valet service was reasonably priced when you factor in general parking in the area and you don't have to worry about finding a spot. All in all, it was a nice experience because it wasn't like a typical hotel chain but they fell short in my opinion because it's too outdated. read more

Staying in the King suite with the large whirlwind bath. Entry was gorgeous and rooms were quite nice. I wanted to leave the review for people staying with the suite. The tub was massive which was a huge plus for two people. However, the water pressure from the jets wasn't very good. Liked it but had to change rooms after the first night as the AC did not work and they did not fix it during the day as requested. Did not take advantage of any of the amenities. Bear in mind this is an older hotel. But it's still pretty nice. My boyfriend and I spent the weekend in Baltimore and this place location is fantastic. We walked to the harbor which had some great tours and restaurants. There's also some light shopping close by. They B & O restaurant attached the the hotel has a great bar and their brunch was good too. We were able to secure free street parking right in front of the hotel so look before you pay for Valet or self. I would recommend but it's not super fancy. read more

I took my family for an overnight trip to see the Inner Harbor and aquarium and I was very pleased with the Hotel Monaco. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself was beautiful. It was remodeled just in 2008. It was kid friendly and we discovered it was also pet friendly and we befriended a dog during our stay. The package we bought also included 2 tickets to the aquarium and, much to the children's delight, a goldfish we got to take home. The walk to the Inner Harbor only took about 10 minutes which is fantastic because Baltimore traffic is horrendous. The only aspect that kept the hotel from a 5 star rating was the parking. There is no garage associated with the hotel aside from valet which was a steep $40 per night. Overall though a great experience. read more

Security was great. The staff was kind. However I'm giving 3 stars for these reasons: 1. The restaurant tried to overcharge us 1 drink each time we went in. Then the hotel tried to overcharge us a car fee when checking out when we didn't have a car. 2. The pillows are way too soft. 3. Two days we slept until 10:30 / 11 and our room never got serviced. I am confused as to what makes this hotel 4.5 stars? When there are literally no amenities. The mini bar actually has a Snickers bar for $6. The parking is $40 a night. The internet is $12.99 per night. The spa cost money. This is an antiquated hotel that is pay as you go with fabricated amenities. It's a beautiful rip-off in a bad part of town. Our first time in Baltimore and first stay at a Monaco. Absolutely loved this hotel! No complaints!! The entire hotel is beautiful. The room was very big with a big bathroom as well. High ceilings. Have to use your key to access elevators so it feels safe. Nicely appointed, modern decor. The staff was helpful and friendly. Lots of elevators so you didn't have to wait long. Good location within easy walking distance to the Inner Harbor and lots of shops and restaurants. Loved the C.O. Bigelow soap/shampoo etc--it smelled SO good! This hotel is very nice. Valet, and the front dest services are awesome. The only department that is lacking is the HOUSEKEEPING. They really need to start over and retrain that department. My soap container was empty for 2 days, they never swept/vacuum my floor, they left dirty dishes/ glasses in my room for days, I had to constantly ask for wash cloths, I can go on. However, I can't see myself returning back for nothing but a meal. Staying there again won't happen, which is a disappointment because the rest of the staff are AWESOME!! The valet team are phenomenal and guest service are also. But man, HOUSEKEEPING is trash! Housekeeping is the only reason this review won't receive 5 stars read more

Unacceptable. We booked a room online, arrived, and upon waiting 45 minutes, we were told that we did not have a room. We had to leave and go to another hotel. Absolutely appalling service. Very nice hotel. Staff is friendly and informative. Rooms are very boutique hotel chic in regards to décor. It is a pet friendly hotel with many guests having dogs. If you are allergic this is not the hotel for you. Due to construction outside, it is hard to see the hotel from street. Valet is way overpriced at 40$ a day which I thought was outrageous. It also takes 15-25 mins for ypue car so call down 15 mins before you are ready to leave. There are parking lots around or FREE street parking but hard to find. There are plenty of places walking distance for food. If you need a fridge in your room request they empty it. The fridge is full of mini bar Items. If you like plush soft towels you WILL NOT get those at this hotel. The towels are coarse and rough. The cleaning staff was very polite and accommodating. I didnt love that the hotel lobby was in the 2nd floor of the building and not on the first floor were you enter. However, the lobby is very nice and inviting for patrons. To get to every floor you have to use your room key in the elevator which can be very annoying. The hotel has a resturant that seems nice. They even have a free wine Happy hour from 5-6. very close matter of fact walking distance to the inner habor of MD and a lot of great well rated places to eat. The hotel and rooms were clean and neat. Some of the furniture and wall paper looks like it could refreshed and there are scratches and areas were the wall paper in the room.not longer sticks. We just stayed here over the weekend. I was really excited about this place because of the beautiful pictures on the website. When arriving the only way to park your car is through valet, which is $50 per day. That's a tad ridiculous but I knew about it ahead of time which I was fine with. Check in was easy and we were able to go straight to our room. My problem with this hotel is they have a rooftop bar called the Stratus. In the room they have a book talking about the bar (dress code etc.). It states that after 9pm the hotel guest are aloud to have no cover charge. Well that isn't the case. The bar still made us pay the cover charge and they said they are not connected to the hotel and will not honor what the note says in our room. For some reason, we still wanted to go up to see the view of the city and for a late night cocktail plus from word of mouth people said they really liked it. Save yourself! There is no view. Might as well be in a bar on ground level. After, we went to the lobby to talk with the front desk. They said they couldn't do anything. After much disagreement, they finally refunded us our cover charge. Honestly, I would never stay here again. Marriotts and Hilton's bend over backwards to make sure you are accommodated. The people working here have no costumer service skills. They want to nickel and dime you for everything. The best thing about this hotel is they have a free wine hour in the lobby. read more

I do not particularly like leaving less than stellar reviews, unless the experience was infuriating at best. However, this trip to my beloved Hotel Monaco was a mixed bag. The arrival was a bit unpleasant. We arrived with small, heavy bags, and all I asked was to have a cart to take them upstairs myself...but was told that the other guy would help upon his return from parking a car. I thought it was odd that they didn't have at least one additional cart by the door for arriving guests. So I proceeded to lug them up myself. There was another guest with a car load who looked as though she went upstairs and retrieved a cart herself. This was not the scenerio I expected, and it was more than inconvenient since the entrance lobby is on a different floor from the registration lobby. But whatever, no service means one additional tip I can keep in my pocket. It was not until I had gotten to our floor and around the corner from our room that a gentleman dropping off dog bowls offered to assist. Check-in was pretty standard and nice, so I started to feel better about things. However, one minor irritation is that we were given two $10 raid-the-minibar credits. However, upon checkout, we were informed that you could only use one per visit, even with multiple guests. So of course not knowing this little tidbit before and not seeing a disclaimer anywhere...not even in the fine print on the coupon, we took $20 worth of goodies. We paid the $10 upon checkout, but thought it was ridiculous 1) because who would know that stipulation without written or verbal notice and 2) why give 2 coupons!?! It's not like we frequent this hotel more than once a year. I will get back to the minibar situation later. Settled into room and had a pretty good night. They even dropped off a complimentary dessert and bottle of champagne for us to celebrate our special occassion, nice! Initial dissapointment averted! Used coupons for complimentary continental breakfast at restuarant the next morning. These guys were excellent with their customer service! One even refused to accept a tip for following me up with the beverages on a tray. Alright, redemption song for sure! Check-out is fine, up until told that we were only allotted the one $10 credit. Again, why give us two if we could not use them both...insert eyeroll. So when asked what items we took to enter line item on bill...I told them 2 Fred waters, Pop Chips and cheese crackers. All $5 a piece to total what we thought would be a $20 credit, which now we know that we are responsible for $10 of it. This brings our incidental bill to $51.20 (ridiculously overpriced subpar valet parking service for $40, $10 for a water and small snack and tax). Bad taste in my mouth has returned a bit. Grave annoyance alert...so in the meantime...we requested our car about 15 minutes prior to checking out. My wife went ahead with one of the bags and our two fur babies. When she attempted to exit the entrance lobby, the gentleman at the valet stand didn't even bother to open the door. He stood and watched while she struggled to juggle items with her hands full. But he immediatley jumped to assist other guests exiting. I sensed when I walked out that he was overly eager to assist me but noticed my wife boring holes in the side of his head with a deadly glare. I guess he realized that she was not pleased and attempted to stand by her door and open it and mine...to which she categorically refused. So a decent stay, now ruined by the initial and final customer service touch points. To add final insult to injury...I noticed an additional charge on my card this morning. I called to investigate and was told that it was for additional mini bar items...stuff that we do not even consume! Because let's face it... yogurt-covered anything is absolutely disgusting and why would we take one Corona, when we brought a 6-pack of Stella, multiple bottles of wine and brandy along with a ton of snacks from home!?! I even checked to see if we accidentally snagged the Corona when repacking the Stellas, but this was not the case. It was most insulting, because what possible reason would I need to lie about what was taken from the mini bar!?! I told you what we took during checkout. So not sure if they simply overlooked during their count or a staff member decided to partake...but he/she was not going to do so on our dime. The gentleman in accounting told me that they would credit it back and was very polite. However, we will not return again. A pity since it is a lovely hotel that allows pets, but it just left a bad taste. No point in courting frustration for a good or service you pay your hard earned money for. I love Kimpton, as I am an Inner Circle member, but after this experience I will not be staying at this hotel again. I primarily stay at the Surfcomber in Miami for work, but business has taken me to Baltimore this month. I stayed last month for a just a few hours (checked in at 11pm and out at 8am) so barely got to really experience the hotel. Onto today... checked in late thanks to a few delays with my flight - figured I would be comforted by getting to a trusty Kimpton property. Right? Wrong!!!! Staying for two nights this time and dreading it. It's only been about an hour and I'm ready to head to the nearest Hilton. Pulled up and no valet to be found. There was some homeless guy hanging out across the street yelling, so I was nervous to get out. Parked the car and got my own suitcase and work bag out of the car and started walking inside...oh finally, the valet shows up. Great. Head up to get checked in and the girl at the front desk is just kind of blah. Nice enough though. I get my keys. ..no raid the mini bar coupon. No welcome Inner Circle member. Nothing. The Surfcomber gives you a glass of champagne on arrival!!! I ask for the room service details since I'd been at the airport all day. No room service (it was 11pm). Figured there'd at least be an overnight menu? Nope! I asked for delivery options and got ONE menu which upon checking yelp, had literally one and a half stars and had already been reviewed by a Monaco guest who said it was HORRENDOUS. So glad this was the menu given to me. OK brushing it off, I decide that I'll have a nice big room with my amenity waiting, so I can eat that! Head upstairs and I was not upgraded even though it's guaranteed. There's a leak over my window and the wallpaper is peeling off. And no amenity. Not even a bottle of water. I am so used to Kimpton being spectacular that I am beyond disappointed at this experience. Going to bed hungry and pissed. At least I know tomorrow to eat before getting here. Before booking our room through a 3rd party site, my girlfriend and I decided it would be best to call the hotel directly to make sure we were booking the room we were looking for. We specifically picked this hotel because of the personal jacuzzi tub in the suite. The hotel employee explained the King Deluxe Suite included a king size bed, stand up shower, and an in-room jacuzzi. We excitedly booked our vacation for Feb 15-17. We were not only celebrating Valentine's day but also our anniversary. I had heard such wonderful reviews we decided this would be the best place to stay for our first trip to Baltimore! When we arrived around 9:30 pm, the bell hop ( Darian, i believe was his name) was the perfect greeting to our short lived stay in this hotel. He was tentative and personable, and incredibly professional and is the only good part of this hotel. We parked valet and were escorted to the check-in desk. We were so excited to be there. The gentlemen checking us in asked how our trip was and we told him it was a long 2 hours and we were looking for recommendations on great restaurants for dinner! It was shortly after we found out our room, in fact, was NOT the room we wanted to book and we were given incredibly false information from the hotel employee we spoke with. We apparently had booked a room with a bed, and shower. No jacuzzi. We explained to the gentlemen checking us in that this was not the room we were told we were booking but they "unfortunately" couldn't do anything because the hotel was full for the weekend. In shock, we went up to the room anyway. After discussing the situation, we immediately decided this wasn't acceptable and politely went back down to the desk. After talking to three customer service representatives, including the manager, they told us there was nothing they could do and even if there were any open rooms like the one we were looking for, we were going to be charged more. We asked for our money back, immediately went back up to the room to grab our belongings, and leave. After the Hotel Monaco left such a sour taste in our mouth, we stopped at a gas station with every intention of turning around and going home. However, it was too late to be driving so I looked up other hotels in the area to crash for the night and planned on leaving first thing in the morning. It was then we found Baltimore's hidden gem, Quincy, the front desk employee for Brookshire Suites. He was INCREDIBLE. He gave us the king suite and the greatest service i've EVER experienced. He turned our trip into such a positive experience, unlike the Hotel Monaco. Our hotel was exactly 1 block from the Inner Harbor, it was a bigger room, an incredibly comfortable bed, 2 flat screen tv's, and service that was second to none. Quincy suggested so many places and was so positive and accommodating that we decided to stay the entire weekend. The rooms weren't as extravagant as the Hotel Monaco but i'd have paid as much as i was charged there for the service we received at Brookshire Suites. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and included a hot buffet, a waffle iron, fresh coffee, and fresh bagels. I think the service at Hotel Monaco alone makes their prices absurd. Even while standing at the check-in counter, I over heard a guest asking for their In-room Menu that he had called down for an hour before. OBviously, we weren't the only guests with poor service. I had planned to propose to my girlfriend during our stay at this hotel, in the king suite, in the jacuzzi. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I understand mistakes happen but this hotel did NOTHING to accommodate the situation they put us in. I believe you pay mainly for two things when you stay in a hotel. The first being a clean room and the second and main thing being customer service. This place is two thumbs down. If you're looking for a great place to stay in Baltimore inner harbor, call Brookshire Suites and ask for Quincy!!!! Don't waste your time on this hotel. read more

I recently had my wedding reception at the Hotel Monaco and I have nothing but praise for the facility, the event managers and the staff. Before I get into the many details, and there are many, I just want to quickly say: Get married there! OK, now the details (when I was researching hotels I couldn't find a lot of info so I want to make sure my review is comprehensive): We wanted a casual, but elegant reception for about 70 people - this hotel is perfect for such an event but can also comfortably host larger events as well. We went with the "Bliss" menu/package which gave us 6 passed appetizers during the cocktail hour and they were all fabulous. The food is catered by the B&O Brasserie restaurant downstairs so it's delicious and cool. The seated dinner options are all fabulous, seriously, we didn't know what to order for ourselves because they were all so good. The house wines are surprisingly drinkable and we were able to customize our beer selection to feature local brews. A word of caution: when you go for your tasting you will be served full sized entrees (they don't mess around with samples) so come hungry! The cake is provided through their partner/vendor Sugarbakers. When we first tried the samples we weren't overly impressed - I think the cake samples were a bit stale. But the cake - the day of - was awesome! We had a three-tiered cake with different flavors: carrot cake, dulce de leche and chocolate with ganache filling. Awesome! Even a few days after the event the cake was still moist and delicious. I think best of all, the staff at the Hotel Monaco is professional, attentive, helpful and understanding. Every single person we came in contact with provided us with a high level of service and we can't thank them enough for helping us pull off a very successful, stress-free event! Oh, and the price is totally reasonable and probably less than most places while providing better services. I love Hotel Monaco! The entire hotel had this "expensive feel" to it, yet it was only about $119 + tax (a little less than $140 with tax) for a deluxe king bed room AND valet parking. I reserved their Park n' Play package which included valet parking (better than paying $36/night alone on valet parking + tip!). The check-in process was very easy and quick. The room itself was beautiful, the bathroom even more gorgeous (with a marble shower). If you sign up for their loyalty program (it's free), you get complimentary internet every time you stay there (although their internet sucks...) and a free $10 raid towards the minibar (all the items are already in a fridge in your room and you just take whatever you'd like and mark it off - even if you don't mark it off, obviously something will be missing so they'll notice). Every time I needed my car, I just buzzed the valet and was downstairs in 15 minutes and the car would be ready. The valet parking people were extremely kind as well. I'm deducting one star because 1) housekeeping comes at 10am (TOO early for a Sunday morning! Please consider coming at 11am at the earliest) and 2) I left an article of clothing at the hotel and called a few days later when I noticed it was missing. I called the hotel and noticed the phone wasn't ringing anymore and someone was chit chatting in the background for little under a minute. I didn't want to be rude and gave them some time (even though the first thing you should do when you pick up the phone is greet the person, but whatever) until I said "HELLO?!!?!" and I heard the front desk person say to whoever she was talking to "Ugh hold on. My wife and I recently spent a weekend at this hotel. Hotel Monaco is in a good location - no more than a 5-10 walk to Inner Harbor and pretty easy to find. We opted for the valet parking - a little steep at $36/day but definitely convenient and they were very quick about getting us our car. The lobby isn't on the main level, so you have to take the elevator up to it. Check-in was relatively quick and painless. Here's a tip - if you're going to stay here, definitely go online and sign up to be an "InTouch" member. It's free to sign up and it gets you free WiFi and you get a $10 credit for the minibar in your room during that stay. The room was actually very big and spacious. I was pleasantly surprised by this considering we were in a city. Bathroom was nice and spacious, as well. The king size bed was definitely comfortable and they had some nice flat panel TV's in the room. I was a little disappointed with housekeeping during our stay. When we checked into our room, there were only about 3 towels in the room and then housekeeping didn't come until about 5pm the next day to clean the room, etc. I feel like that is way too late to show up but who knows? I did use the fitness center while I was here and the fitness center was being renovated so they moved some of the equipment into one of the smaller conference rooms. I do appreciate the fact that they had something available to use. The hotel is attached to the B&O restaurant which I thought was very good. Definitely a good, convenient place to grab a meal at while you stay here. Overall, we definitely had an enjoyable stay. I thought the rooms were big and comfortable and everything was clean. Stayed here at Monaco Baltimore 2 weekend ago for a wedding. There was no safe in the room, so I left some things in the dresser to lighten my backpack. Left a few magazines, iPad and a book and forgot the items on my way out. I called the hotel the next day asked for Housekeeping. They said that they did have my things, but that there was no iPad left in the drawer. I insisted that there was an iPad in the drawer, and was told that the staff member who cleaned the room returned everything that was left in the drawer. She was kind enough to offer to send my items for free. Nice gesture, considering someone made off with a nice iPad. Don't trust the Housekeeping staff. You've been warned. read more

Each visit I take to Hotel Monaco is great. It's a quick reliable retreat from the everyday stresses of life. At check in they always have delicious (and free) dinner/snack options in case you miss room service...and room service is absolutely delightful. I recently stayed in this this hotel for two nights, it is beautiful with rich history. However the service was terrible. My boyfriend and I checked in and were given keys to our suite. Upon arriving in the room, we quickly discovered that this was not the room I paid for. He placed us in a standard room, when we booked a spa premier room, in which was significantly more. I chose this room because of its beautiful Fuji tub, so was disappointed. Went back to the desk, to be served by the same fellow who assisted us earlier. He was not sympathetic, did not apologize. Just took the keys from me and handed me two comp "continental breakfasts... Without saying anything. (The hotel offers $1 continental breakfasts ) He said "let me see if we have one available" I thought, "if you have one?" This is what I was booked for, now I assume that he placed us in the wrong room on purpose, hoping we wouldn't notice. A few minutes later he located one, called who I assume was house keeping , to ask if the room was ready. It was, or so we thought. Upon arriving in the new room... Which was beautiful but not clean. The tub I was so looking forward too still had water in it, the water had hair in it, as well as hair was around the tub itself. We went back down, as we planned on attending the free wine and appetizer hour, in which there were no appetizers and no where to sit. The man serving the wine watched me walk around looking for one, and did not greet me or offer me a glass. While doing this my boyfriend spoke to front desk, same fellow again. He said he would send someone up, again wasn't very sympathetic. We headed back up to the room as we missed out on the wine hour. Waited for someone to arrive to fix the tub, about 20 minutes later a young man arrived with a towel and spray bottle in hand... Mumbled something and just walked in the bathroom, fumbled around there for a bit. Walked back out and went for the door, without saying anything. My boyfriend had to ask "everything good to go"? He said "yeah" and walked out... Not exactly professional by any stretch. To make matters worse because of this we were late for our dinner reservation at a restaurant. A few other things that should be mentioned. The elevators were also very touchy, they wouldn't register the floor when the button was pushed sometimes and other guests were having issues with that as well. Some high points... *The building itself is worth the stay! Beautiful and historic. Gorgeous original staircases, detailed ceilings, gold accents. Lobby is warm and inviting, with lovely decor and fireplace. Building is also leed certified and pet friendly :) *Valet service was good, the attendants were friendly and accommodating. Timing wasn't the best. *The night/early am shift front desk person upon our check out was pleasant and helpful. Overall, not a great first experience at this hotel, I had high expectations due to its star rating and Kimpton's reputation, but came up short. My wife and I did a impromptu Anniversary weekend and stayed at the Kimpton. The valet and service staff were all polite and helpful. Room was nice and clean. Hotel exterior and front lobby are impressive. Only real complaint the key cards are used to access the floors and they didnt always work the first, second, or third time. read more

I called reservations on this hotel and asked for a room on Valentine's Day with an in-room Jetted Tub. I was promised one and requested to book the room... After booking the room a few days later I received a 20% off coupon in my e-mail. I called back and asked if I could use it.. While speaking with that representative I decided to surf their website photos to catch a glimpse of the awesome tub I would hav in my room. When I didn't see an example of one on the website, I asked the rep if she could confirm that my booked room had one. She stated that the type of room I was booked under did not have that available... Long story short. I ended up speaking with 5 different agents and managers before one of them (almost blatantly) called me a liar and said that would have never happened. She also informed me that the calls were recorded (as if that would have made a difference in my "story") I lost my reservations and had to reschedule my trip to a completely different state. I will now will be staying elsewhere for Valentine's Day. Never again will I book with any Kimpton Hotels location with service like this On the positive side... Some of the agents were quite nice and onsite staff were quite nice while telling me that there was nothing that they could do for me about their mistake. read more

Splurged (on my terms) on a room for the boy's bday/welcome home from Fort Benning. They exceeded my expectations by a mile! We were upgraded to a Mediterranean Suite.... I AM OFFICIALLY OBSESSED!! I graduated from a university hospitality management program... one that preached and praised Marriott.... well no offense to them but Kimpton's Hotel Monaco is the Ray Lewis of Baltimore hotels!! Service was great... everyone was not only friendly but personable!!! So nice to get customer service that doesn't feel robotic! Anyway back to this suite... Five huge windows, nice sized living area with a flatscreen and pocket doors if needed, huge comfy king bed and desk room with another flatscreen and ipod dock... the bathroom makes this suite worth it 100%. Amazing jacuzzi tub and spacious open shower. Toilet area has a door to for it to be closed off, a nice touch. Bring your slippers! That marble floor is COLD when you get out of bed. :P We had planned on going out to dinner but we were so awed by the suite that we ordered room service... for dinner, late night snack, and breakfast lol. I will say that the dinner menu was not as impressive as I hoped... he went with the chicken...the pesto mash had somewhat of a baby food consistency and did not taste anything like pesto, but it went well with the chicken, which was moist and flavorful. I had the turkey and avocado something or the other sandwich, it was hefty and both it and the fries were good. THE SEASONAL CHOCOLATE SURPRISE.... OMG best thing we had there. I won't say what it was in case you want to be surprised, but we were there on 2/26 so ask if it's the same. Warning, it has nuts. And it is absolutely worth the ten bucks. As for breakfast...the "leggo my eggo" had potential, but it's 4 mini-waffle pieces that amount to maybe half the size of a standard belgian waffle and they were soft by the time they were delivered so I wouldn't recommend them for room service. Eggs benedict and hot chocolate were both delish! We missed the cookies and cocktail hours (BUMMER!) but I will absolutely go back to this hotel so next time I'll remember to get there earlier! Join their Intouch program for $10 toward the minibar and free wifi if you need it. Whether you're coming from afar or just need a staycation, I highly recommend this hotel! read more

In a word: STUNNING. I've stayed in a few boutique hotels in my time, but the Hotel Monaco is possibly the most eye-popping. High ceilings, a double marble staircase that recalls Hogwarts, a grand lobby...I could go on, but suffice it to say, the Hotel Monaco is aesthetically superior to most hotels of its caliber. My man-friend and I stayed at the hotel for a wedding; my man-friend was a groomsman, so our time at the hotel itself was brief and somewhat harried due to numerous wedding obligations. I found the staff to be extremely accommodating as far as handling our outlandish amount of luggage, giving us a late check-out, cleaning the room when we needed it cleaned (not when the housekeeping staff needed it cleaned), and generally treating their guests with courtesy. I managed to set aside some time to work out in the gym, which is somewhat randomly located on the third floor of the building. It was clean and had a decent number of machines if you're into cardio. If you're a big-time body-builder, you're out of luck, but at least there are little individual TV's on each machine. Now, for the room itself. We stayed in a King Deluxe room, and it was much larger than I expected. And, like the rest of the hotel, it was beautiful. The ceilings were soaring, with plenty of tall windows (which, in our case, unfortunately provided us with extensive views of ugly brick walls). The bed linens were comfortable and luxurious. There was a lovely chaise and ottoman in one corner of the room, adding character and personality. And the bathroom! Where to begin? As the Queen of Claustrophobia and Hygiene-related OCD, hotel bathrooms usually induce panic attacks that rather tarnish my stay. But this bathroom was spacious, with high ceilings that completely alleviated my natural claustrophobia, adequate counter space, gorgeous tiles on the floor and walls, and a SPECTACULAR shower with wonderful water pressure. I could have slept in the bathroom itself, it was so comfortable. Indeed, my man-friend nearly did sleep in the bathtub, but that's another story for another time. My only complaints about the room are as follows: 1. The lighting. Perhaps we simply failed to locate it, but there didn't seem to be one light switch that provided sufficient lighting. Instead, we had to stumble around a semi-dark room, turning on each individual lamp (which each had its own confusing mechanism). Again, since we were staying at the hotel for a wedding, we had many important dressing and make-up needs that required good lighting, so this was a bit annoying. Plus, the night-stand light was blindingly bright. Not pleasant (or flattering). 2. The TV remote didn't work. Boo. 3. The line was always busy for the front desk and room service if I called from the phone next to the bed, but I was able to get through on the phone next to the TV. This was weird and a little inconvenient, since there are times when you just want to reach over to the phone next to your head and call for room service, instead of staggering around in the dark to get to another phone. Plus, the phone that actually got through to places was barely audible. 4. Not enough hangers in the closet. We brought some of our own to hang his suits, but I had a thousand dresses that needed to be hung as well. Eventually had to double-up. 5. The concierge pointed us to the hotel driver, who took us around in his Escalade. We thought this was cool until we discovered (after the fact) that this driver charges an automatic $10 minimum. Uhhhh...can you say rip-off? I'm never shy about bringing minor things like #2, 3, and 4 to the attention of the staff, but, since they weren't massive issues and I didn't have a minute to spare, what with running all over the place for the wedding, I just shut up and put up. There are also allegedly a few freebies, like wine and cookies, that I suppose I just missed out on due to bad timing. I did get some free coffee in the lobby after my workout, which is always an A+ in my book. Overall, I had a wonderful stay here. It seems to be pretty centrally located in Baltimore, and I thought we got a very reasonable rate (compared to similarly luxurious hotels in other cities) at $150/night. I believe that, without the wedding discount, the same room goes for $180/night, which sounds like a steal to me. Would definitely stay here again, if the opportunity presented itself. read more

My reason for 2 stars is because of the shower. The worst ever! I'm short. The shower head high. The spray soft and wide with low pressure. I honestly could not get enough water on me to rinse my hair. I had to fill up the ice bucket in the sink , take it in to the shower to have enough water to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. Also, no shower liner and, the sink counter could be a little lower. Overall, I would not stay here again simply because of the bath accommodations. read more

Not the most enjoyable experience. The elegant look they are going for is definitely worn out now in need of new furniture. The desk looked dirty and damaged with dents and chips in it. Room service is a joke, we called down for towels and had to call 3 times before they got delivered not to mention hours later ... when I've already showered and figured it out by that time. TVs are locked to hotel setting that require purchase of movies and you can't hook up game systems or laptops via HDMI. Front desk young lady had an attitude from check in to check out as if she knew me from somewhere (she doesn't). Then they also finesse you booking third parties where you think you paid for your days stay and possibly the taxes it's only for your first night stay leaving you to pay the remaining days, taxes, and whatever other fees they associate with the reservation. Definitely get you with the foot in the door method considering by the time you checking in it's too late to ask for a refund. Tbh if your looking for a nice hotel in Baltimore without all the underhanded tactics look into Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore; parking is cheaper as well. read more

This is a nice hotel with good, personalized service. Rooms are sizable, bedding comfy, and bathroom amenities are nice. I was staying for a conference and service seemed okay. Banquet food service, at least what they served me, was frankly subpar. But you don't go to hotels to eat. This is a good enough place to sleep. read more

I really, really, really LOVE this hotel. I got married here Nov 30th, 2012 and my experience was absolutely amazing. Randie and Keith were awesome to work with and very flexible. The staff that worked my wedding night, Lynette & Dominic were priceless, their service to our guests phenomenal. My tasting was out of this world. I think one of the best perks is that you can customize your own menu to whatever you want it to be. Chef Brad is a TOP CHEF and I am not exaggerating, so make SURE he is the one working your wedding and not someone else. This hotel went above and beyond and I will definitely be back for our first anniv party! read more

It was ok, but fell short of expectations. The linens were worn, the bed was uncomfortable, the shades were broken, and the towels were low end. BUT the ceilings were high, the locations was convenient, and staying at a chain with which I was not familiar could have been worse. I won't be back, but I wouldn't say "stay away." read more

Beautiful rooms, great staff from the guys at the door to the guys who bring more Keurig coffee on request to the front desk to the bar staff. And - goldfish for your room upon request???? Yes please! My room had a beautiful jet-tub with windows, big room, quiet and awesome. As I recall, there wasn't great room service and the bar, while nice, closed at 10 which is super early. The local options down the street weren't great. Highly recommend this place all the same!! read more

fantastic! anyone who puts out milk & cookies at 4pm is automatically a winner in my mind. my room was fabulous, my bed was comfy, service was outstanding, the concierge was adept & helpful, and everything was eye candy. the decor really is great. this is a fantastic stay at a perfect price. and a very nice woman in housekeeping promptly fed-ex'ed me an item i accidentally left in my room. read more
