Our stay here was good. It's a nicely renovated motel close to town with friendly staff. For a lower price than a standard hotel room at the Hampton Inn, we had a spacious two room suite with two bathrooms! Continental breakfast is included. You fill out a slip with your selections the night before and drop it in the box by the breakfast room, then go there to pick it up the next morning. The motel is high on a hill with lovely views of the turning foliage. Be warned, if you are approaching the motel from the East, there is no sign facing that direction. We have stayed here 3 times in Feb and will keep coming back! We love the room with 2 king bedrooms. It has a great living space and we use the fire place every day. Close to town for breakfast and dinner (they do a light continental breakfast but we have never tried it) the rooms are dated, but everything is very clean. My boyfriend and I just came back from another anniversary trip to Manchester, Vermont and I think it's pretty clear how much we love this town (this was our third visit to the area). We've been at home since January so we were happy to learn that the hotel had availability for us for the last week of August. This was our second time visiting the hotel and it's as beautifully isolated (it's in the mountains) as we remembered. Our dog had the time of her life in those huge fields on the property. Our five days were as relaxing as humanly possible. Our room was upgraded to a suite (the Norman Rockwell suite, to be precise) that had a jacuzzi, fireplace, two TVs, and a back patio with seating: it was incredible. I love this place so much. The weather was incredibly autumn-inspired, so I wasn't even mad that I only made it to the outdoor pool once. In town, we ate many Baja tacos, some vegan burgers, and a few salads. We'd never gone to the restaurant Seasons on any of our past trips here, and it was great! Have to remember that if we go again. Of course we went to the bookstore in town since they always have the best postcards. So glad we were still able to travel this summer, even if it was only a short trip. It gave me a chance to actually miss New York, which is always a good feeling. read more

WE LOVED IT! We just stayed for one night but it was such a cozy little cottage I wanted to stay longer. It's nestled on a little hill and was so quiet and peaceful. The bed was very soft and comfortable, the sheets were fresh and crisp and the under blanket was soft and plush. I usually have trouble sleeping but I slept very well and soundly. The little deck led out to a spacious well maintained yard. We were able to go out and see all the stars, something you rarely see with such clarity in NYC. The staff was very nice and helpful with informing us about what to do in the area. They provided a gracious continental breakfast. I hope we come back soon for a longer stay! read more

For some reason we didn't see that your room opens to the outside, a bit like a motel. But that wasn't an issue just be aware. As I said the rooms were very nice. I have to say I might have paid extra for a room with a fireplace had I known there was no common space. The breakfast, on paper sounded like a standard breakfast, but was actually quite good. Warm muffins. Lots of yummy fruit. Oatmeal and yogurt. Bagels. Everything you need. The highlight of breakfast was Amanda, the server. First, we dudnt expect a server, so that was quite nice. My bf and I decided last minute to do a VT overnight knowing the weather was going to be perfect and we wanted to drive up Equinox mountain. Found this gem. I could be wrong but pretty sure any room you're in you'll have a beautiful view. Stayed in the Norman Rockwell room which was a great size (2 rooms), fireplace, king bed, jacuzzi and a huge private porch. The place exceeded my expectations from the kindness at the front desk, the cleanliness of our room and the unbelievable upkeep of the property. My only complaint would be the bed, If you toss and turn a lot of your partner tosses and turns a lot you'll get no sleep, it's quite noisy. Overall my favorite inn this far. Our family had a very fine stay at Manchester View. One of the aspects that set this apart from other places I have stayed was the meticulous care shown by our check-in agent, and staff in general. The room was very spacious and quite comfortable. The back deck was a great feature, and the outdoor pool was very refreshing. Parking spaces were conveniently at the rooms so loading in and out was easier than ever, particularly useful during pandemic. I did wish that the lighting on back deck could be controlled for stargazing purposes. Since they left it on a timer setting I didn't know if it could be adjusted. This was such a beautiful area. A short 6 minute drive away was downtown Manchester and some restaurants. Great value here, would gladly stay again. read more

We loved our accomodations with our wood burning fireplace and views to die for of the fall leaves (colors lingered another weekend over their peak). Our deck gave us full view of the grounds and the prestine grounds of Manchester View. My only wish is that they offered free hot breakfast since it was a bit pricey, but going out for breakfast was a treat in the local area. Booked a Mountain View room for a very short stay overnight as I was up in area for a business meeting. Checked in without too much of an issue although the complimentary breakfast would require me to fill out a form, deliver it to a specific room and go pick it up in morning. Weird, but ok, I declined breakfast anyway. Got to room, dated but the view was great. Only 2 cars in whole lot. As I was traveling with a nurse due to being recently release from hospital and couldn't drive & needed some assistance, we brought sandwiches in from GILS (in Rutland huge 5 stars) and just sat down to eat at the small table. Then came a phone call from the front desk informing me that there were complaints coming from another room and they would need to move us. At first I thought it was a joke, but receptionist was dead serious and continued to insist that we must be removed from that room. I said no, there was a mistake and she should doublecheck. She declined, offered to move us to an upgraded room, and I said no, I'd like to talk to her superior. She said "you can't". She continued to insist we move and I said we would just leave and take a refund. She said "no refunds". Long story short we left and now disputing charge with credit card company. My job requires me to travel (pre covid) weekly all over the country/world... this was the worst experience ever. Ended up at Equinox which was spectacular. Long story short, skip this place. Rooms are mediocre at best, outdated and dark, breakfast is a joke, Management is unprofessional. Much better accommodations closer to Manchester Center or Dorset. read more

This place is a motor lodge and is really not intended to be anything upscale. Taken in that context this place is above average. The rooms were small but had everything needed to be comfy. The beds were fine and the bathrooms were clean. The grounds are super nice and that's what separates the Manchester View from comparable motel type places. There's a huge lawn where you can lay out and catch some sun or throw a frisbee around. Also there's a heated pool that was actually warm and very clean. The views from the pool are superb. You're able to look down the mountain valley and catch a great view of the Green Mountains. If you're looking for posh then this isn't the place from you. If you're looking for an adequate night stay at a clean, comfortable motel then this will suit you just fine. Quick note: they charge $3.00 for the continental breakfast but it's just not worth it. There's a Dunkies in town where you can get all of the coffee and bagels you need. read more

1/5 This motel/hotel/lodge whatever they call it has the potential to be amazing but my experience was not. I upgraded to the Ethan Allen room which is a large studio apartment with a fridge, coffee machine, etc. I was very happy there until something started biting me the first night I was there. I let it go because it is the mountains and I had the windows open but the next evening it continued and I had welts and puncture marks which are the hallmarks of bed bugs. I started checking the bed and found a colony of small black eggs just waiting to hatch. So I called the desk and they changed my room but then didn't take me seriously about the bugs at all. I never heard from the manager who I was told by reception said they never had them before and I can just imagine what the next person who stays in this room will find. Also, if there are bed bugs then all of the promises about deep cleaning for Covid-19 go straight out the window. So at this point, I would not stay there again. read more

We've stayed here quite a few times over the years. We've tried the specialty rooms before,but this time stayed in a standard queen room. I am unsure if the bed was actually a queen(it seemed smaller). The bed's mattress was extremely uncomfortable. It may be time to replace the mattress in room 102. Having said that the stay was OK. The complimentary breakfast was good even though due to Covid we couldn't have in the breakfast room. The rooms are always clean, the views as always are beautiful which are two of the reasons we stay here. read more

We just stayed in the lovely village of Manchester, VT (Really, it can't even be considered a town; it's just tiny!) for a night in mid-September. Traveled to Manchester for just a quick trip, so this review is based on a first time, one night stay. Our needs were absolutely met by the Manchester View, but I wasn't completely satisfied. Diva? Maybe. *wink wink* Here's my lowdown: Pros: ~ Pretty comfy Queen-sized beds ~ Really spacious, clean rooms ~ Very close proximity to great shopping and dining ~ Absolutely gorgeous views from our balcony (breathtaking, really) ~ Flat screen TVs (Shouldn't all hotels have them?), DVDs, high-speed wireless Internet access ~ Cribs available (Actually, Pack-n-Plays, but it's all good); definitely family friendly, but seems like it would be good for a couples' weekend, too. ~ Refrigerator in room. Definitely came in handy for storing opened formula! Cons (more like annoyances, I suppose): ~ Overpriced. We paid almost $150 for a single night, during a non-holiday/non leaf-peeper/non-anything season (& midweek!). We had the most basic, absolutely no frills (compared to the descriptions of hot tubs, fireplaces, etc in other rooms) accommodations. I actually negotiated the price down (over $20). We were comfortable, but we felt a bit slighted about the lack of... well, anything, for the price. ~ Breakfast not included... Are you KIDDING me??? Firstly, there is no option for a "hot" breakfast whatsoever. The "light" breakfast (bagels, muffins, cereal) is $3/pp. Here's my thing... I love breakfast. And when I'm staying in beautiful Vermont, at a supposed "fine lodging... AAA 3 Diamond rated... Manchester, VT's best AAA accommodation" (from Manchester View's website), I want a freakin delicious, homemade country breakfast. It's not about the three bucks; I just don't think I've ever stayed anywhere that didn't include coffee and "continental breakfast" at minimum. And I wanted me some waffles. ~ OK, this one's probably a bit petty, but by the time we got to the hotel/motel, it was late, and I noticed in the bathroom there were two bath towels. Two. For two adults, a teenager, and a baby. The front desk was closed, so we were pretty much towel-deprived. For a reservation of 4 people (alright, 3 1/2) ;o), I would love at least 4 towels. Now I understand that maybe my hotel standards are a little (or a lot; I'm embarrassingly, admittedly high maintenance) more obnoxious than the average person. If you are looking for basic, clean, *overpriced* motel-like accommodations, stay here. There are many lodging options in the area, though, so my suggestion is to do a little research before you go. *A-OK 3-star rating seems to fit perfectly.* read more

Basic, basic, basic. After staying in a quaint Massachusetts hotel for less, this was a huge disappointment. The woman at the reception desk was snooty (less than welcoming). The bed occupies the majority of the room and the room is totally black at night, making a trip to the bathroom a real challenge. The fan in the bathroom is extremely loud. At a midweek room charge of $130, value would not be the adjective attached to Manchester View. read more

I think reviews are important when a place or business is far different than it is advertised as. I was at The Manchester View for a weekend in late June of 2014. The ads and sign out front of it declare, "Fine Lodging Since 1977." I can't imagine who would think this is fine lodging, especially with the other marvelous inns and B&Bs in that area. This is a motel with an awesome view of the mountains. It was clean enough but only a 3 out of 5. Mildew is on the bathroom walls and rusted walls around the radiators isn't "fine lodging" in my book. The decor of the place is basically flash-frozen in the 1970's, actually 1970's country-kitsch. The pool was VERY nice but very small. That, and view, are the only reasons to stay here. The truly aggravating thing about this place, excluding the extortionary $198 an evening price tag, is the $3 they charge you for breakfast. It is coffee and a muffin. That is it! Friends stayed at sumptuous local B&Bs in Manchester and had awesome, full breakfast buffets for NO ADDITIONAL FEE on their rooms that were comparatively priced, but not us. We drank our $6-worth of coffee and chewed on a small muffin and were RIPPED-OFF for that one, I'll tell you. No "fine lodging" in the rooms or in the breakfast room, for sure. Your $500-PLUS bill for two nights won't make you feel as if you had a "fine lodging" either. There is NO STAFF AT ALL on the location after 11 p.m., and our drunken neighbors being locked out of their room at 3 a.m., kicking and screaming at their door, waking everyone around them up with no staff on site to assist ALSO didn't reflect "fine lodging." This place is grossly over-priced, needs a wake-up call on that 1970's decor, and should SERIOUSLY rethink nickel-and-diming overcharged guests for a crap breakfast. There are MANY other much nicer, comparatively priced inns and B&Bs in Manchester. Do yourself a favor and skip this Mountain View and go have a good, complimentary breakfast somewhere else. My husband and I stayed here this past weekend in one of their cheapest and smallest rooms. The room and bathroom were very clean. It's true the room is small, but for $90/night I won't complain. We weren't crazy about the deck since it's not private for the smaller rooms. Housekeeping is done early in the day, which is nice to always come back from breakfast and have the room cleaned. We didn't do the $3 breakfast because we wanted to fill up on more than just carbs. If you're looking for a reasonably priced and clean place, this is perfect! read more

Such a wonderful place. We returned for our 5 year wedding anniversary. The people were so friendly on the phone. They were able to find the same room we stayed 6 years earlier when my husband proposed. When we arrived they had left champagne and chocolates in the room for us. What a nice surprise!
