It took forever to get a menu, it took forever to place an order, and nobody ever came to pickup our credit card so that we can pay and leave. Now onto the food - my summer roll had a lot of shrimp, but the wrapper was still hard! They did not properly soak the rice paper so half of it was visibly stiff. The pho and vermicelli was decent but the amount of food was half of other places. The prices are practically double as well! It was not worth it at all. I dined at Kim's Pho Kitchen + Bar on Thursday, November 11, 2021 (Veteran's Day) at 7 pm. I liked the dark, bold interior design of the restaurant. The dining area looked clean and well maintained. There was only one person working in the front and she told us to seat ourselves as she was preoccupied with handling to-go orders, bringing out food, closing other people's tabs all at the same time. After 15 minutes of waiting and not having been served yet, a man sat himself at the bar and the lady was about to tend to him before she caught us giving her an impatient look. When she came to our table, she had a slight attitude when she took our order, which I don't understand why considering she was about to serve someone who came in after us. I understand that she was busy, but a small apology could've easily gone along way. Fortunately the food came out pretty quickly! I enjoyed the summer rolls and the shrimp triangles. They were fresh and crispy and were a good start to the meal. The pork chop was a basic dish with just two pieces of pork chops, a fresh side salad, and rice. This is a type of dish I could make at home, so I expected it to be at the same level or even better. It tasted good, just not outstanding. The beef stew tasted just like pho soup. The bun Bo lacked seasoning and authenticity. I think it was too mellowed out to suit the American palate. Overall, Kim Pho is an average Americanized Vietnamese restaurant. If you like actual Viet food, you should not go to this place. Small portions, high prices and mediocre food at best. I'm not one to write reviews but was appalled by everything. The second I walked in, I knew it wasn't going to be enjoyable. The only Viet people in sight were the owners and we were hit with the stench of sewage. When I ordered, not once, but twice, did the waiter have to come back to let me know that they had run out of that dish. The service was not only slow, but we barely had any attendance for a barely half full Thursday night and my friend was basically finished with her food by the time my other friend and I got ours. A very worthy spot for a variety of Vietnamese dishes. If you're looking for delicious Vietnamese food with vibes, cocktails, and without the craziness of parking in Eden center, this is it. The waiter recommended the egg rolls (chả giò) and we were very impressed with the crunch of the egg rolls and the right filling and flavorings inside. My sister ordered BÁNH HỎI which is a fall special. There was so much on the plate she had to take it home. She loved the grilled pork and the flavors. Her boyfriend ordered the fall special pho (phở sườn bò) which includes an 18 hour beef broth and short rib. The broth was very savory and the noodles looked perfectly cooked. My parents and I ordered HỦ TIẾU MÌ which we recognized as a dish inspired by HỦ TIẾU NAM VANG (Vietnamese-Cambodian Pho). I ordered the dish with the broth separated and got to enjoy the sweet, savory broth on its own while having delicious noodles. For the table we enjoyed a sizzling crepe ( bánh xèo) which was perfectly cooked and crispy. We all devoured it quickly. Only thing that could've been better was service as we felt like we were getting a little bit of attitude any time we asked for plates for sharing or for adding anything to our order. While I'm just a visitor to the area, since we have family living around there now my hope is the service gets better as they return as regulars! This was just ok for me overall. What I really liked was the short rib pho which had a massive short rib that was well cooked but they skimped out on the noodles. I enjoyed the egg rolls and the banh hoi was good. The bo luc lac was just ok and disappointing because it didn't come with any sauce. First impression when we walked in was that it is very elegant yet authentic and traditional inside. There are live plants and definitely good vibes. You can tell the owner put a lot of thought into the space and design with the beautiful artwork and greenery. They have a nice bar with great cocktails. Loved my lychee mojito and my friend loved her cosmo. Also - do yourself a favor and get the taro boba. It was amazing the tapioca was made so moist and warm and easy to chew unlike some places. My favorites were the rolls sampler, vermicelli bowl with chicken, pork, and spring roll, and the shaky beef (filet mignon cubes) which sizzling on a skillet when it came to our table. As for desserts, we tried the chocolate lava cake, banana spring rolls with ice cream, and the mango sticky rice. I'm usually big into chocolate but if I had to choose a favorite the fried banana with ice cream dessert wins! They had plenty of parking and a beautifully decorated outdoor patio as well. We had the Tofu & Veggies Pho, Chicken Pho, & Beef Stew We ordered from Post-mates, the food arrived hot, was packaged well & in sustainable packaging. There was plentiful housin sauce and chili pepper sauce, and an abundance of bean sprouts. My father in law had never had Vietnamese for before, and I knew the Beef Stew would be a good pick- he destroyed the bowl, he loved it! The interior design is beautiful. I'll give it that. I love the amount of fresh plants and decor. Price wise, you are definitely paying for more than the amount you are getting. Their Viet Coffee was good but I didn't like how it was in a take out cup. Coffee was $7. In photos it was presented very well in a glass cup. We received a take out cup even though we were dining in. Customer service was not it. Never checked up on until the bill and there was no one around. Saw one worker and they were just eating and getting up from time to time to work. My bf and I both got rice dishes and each was $18. The meat was grilled nicely and it tasted good but the dish was just felt empty. Also the food here is like modernized versions of the traditional dishes. It wasn't different it was basically just missing items placed on a nice dish to make it look fancy. We also ordered a summer roll but they forgot about it but still charged us. They basically said why didn't you say anything in the beginning. They just changed our bill price. You would expect them to still service us since it was their mistake. I would not go here again. The pho is good - the broth is clearer and less fatty than your casual bowl, if that is your preference. I know different people like different tastes. Flavor wise, it is an excellent bowl of pho. It is pretty authentic and you can tell it's not from concentrate, unlike the ones you have at other vietnamese restaurants that have 50 different noodle soups on their menu... however my heart still belongs to bun bo hue at Phung Hoang restaurant at eden center. Kim's seems to place itself as a somewhat upscale Vietnamese restaurant. it comes through in the ambiance as well as the food. That being said, it doesn't taste like home-style Vietnamese cooking. I ordered the Pho Kim and was immediately impressed by the meat. True to the menu description, it is served with slices of filet mignon, and the meat is GOOD. I typically don't love beef and usually leave some untouched in my pho, but not this time. I devoured that filet. That being said, the broth itself was lacking flavor. We noted that it looked really clear, which is atypical of the pho we are used to. Maybe the broth is less fatty, I can't say for sure, but it certainly lacked a certain depth of flavor. We also got the spring rolls as an appetizer and while they were good they were... different. It felt like they were trying to be fancy spring rolls and in the process felt too "clean", similar to our experience with the pho. The depth of flavor wasn't there and it just wasn't what we were looking for in a spring roll. Of course, it's all a taste preference. I don't know what happened since I last visited...maybe a change in ownership or the restaurant tried to revamp their style? Did not like the changes very much. They once had a more extensive menu including unique drinks and a good number of Vietnamese dishes. Even though the Vietnamese dishes I tried before were okay...and not amazing, they were sufficient. It seems like they cut the menu down to half the options they had before, in addition they added more random dishes to the menu. While these options might be exciting to some, for a restaurant labeled "Pho Kitchen + Bar" you would literally expect mainly Vietnamese food. You would also expect a full bar with all the drinks that they had on the menu before. They had those awesome sake bombs, the "Dragonito" and "Kim's Classic" which were nowhere to be found now. Honestly... most of the food did seem more Americanized and less authentic. Unfortunately...I will not be coming back as I find their lack of consistency a huge turnoff. There's only a $1 difference between a small and a large bowl so I ordered the large. However, I regretted getting the large as soon as I saw the bowl come out. It's extremely big. I just ordered take-ou, and the pho and vermicelli dishes that we ordered were not great. Very salty, in fact. We tried to let them know, and the woman that we spoke to was extremely rude. She told us that her food is EXCELLENT and that we talk too much. She got very defensive very quickly, when should taken our comments with positivity and offer to make sure to do better next time. At first it may look like any other but once you walk inside the decor of the place - the Vietnamese paintings and decorations on the walls, the elegant cushion chairs, the varied tables and elegant bar area - you know you're in something different. The menu was very varied and had all the Vietnamese options you could hope for as well as some unique blends and varieties. Prices were all very normal and moderate. Had an amazing visit to Kim's. The inside is beautifully decorated and the restaurant is owned by a super friendly family. They had great service. The food was great overall. The summer rolls and peanut sauce were my favorite and probably my favorite summer rolls in the area. The banh mi was crispy on the outside and the meat was tender and veggies were fresh. Ate here many times. Good food, especially appetizers are delicious. But number of times, I ask NO cilantro...but forgets many times. Problem is, they take it back in and seem to bring back same original bowl. Because I still find pieces. Few days ago same thing happened. Guy noticed and took it back in. And few minutes later, different lady brings two bowl. What frustrated me was that my son and I both found pieces again. And noodles also were over cooked as it sits in hot soup for minutes, while they take out pieces of cilantro with who know what...spoon? Chopsticks? Or finger??? Have no idea but feels weird during this Covid time. I know it costs money, but if mistakes are made, need to make fresh new bowl.
