The environment seemed fine, and the gal doing my nails came off as friendly, but I don't think she was any good. Came to enjoy a mani/pedi with my mom and nieces, my mom and I haven't had a tech and it's been 30min! my nieces mani and pedi was over in 30min! I came here wanting a basic design and a basic manicure which they lead you to believe is only 20 dollars. This place deceives you by the fancy interior design. At the end my manicure costed around 60 dollars. Don't get me wrong, I have the money to pay for this. But this work and service wasn't even close to worth it. Gel was an additionally 15 Dollars but my nails literally came out streaky and I can see how uneven the the nail polish is. I then asked for French tips on ONLY four fingers but they charged me for all ten! When I didn't even get french tips on 10 fingers. Honestly my other designs costed an additional 20 when they were so tiny. And no Nail art at all. Don't get your hair cut here. She did an absolutely horrible job. I showed her exactly how I wanted my hair and she cut it completely opposite. She cut it how she wanted. Both times I've been there! Have been going to this salon for over 10 years now! My mom had gone to this salon ritually since we moved to Fairfield in 2006. I used to go with her often to get mani/pedi's. The women here are so nice. I mean it. They are so friendly, kind and hard working ladies. My mom always got her nails done by Vi, but all the other girls are so good too! My mom passed away a few years ago, but I know that she would have recommended this place to anyone. Went back here since her passing and they all still remembered me and welcomed me back with open arms. Haven't been here in a while as I have moved, but I hope everyone at Kim's Salon is doing well. I have been going to this Shop for several years now, and I only have nice things to say about them. It is a Family Owned business, and they work very hard to make their customers happy. My Nail Artist is Leon, and I wouldn't trade in his expertise, and Art , for all the money in the world! I brought my Granddaughter in twice to let her experience getting her first Mani-Pedi, and both times, we had such a wonderful Amma (Grandma in Icelandic) and Granddaughter Day! She wanted Rainbows on her fingers and toes, and Leon was definitely the right person to make her experience and expectations come to life. My Granddaughter moved to Iowa, and I was lucky enough to have her with me for her last days in California. I wanted them to be memorable, and special; and they were, thanks to Leon at Kim's Salon! Half-assed and overcharged by Kim herself. I DO NOT recommend. I got my short hair and extensions dyed purple. They charged me $450. First of all, I was way too nice in that I didn't ask them the price because I assumed it would be around $200 and they acted so nice so I trusted them but Kim really just took advantage and half assed my extensions saying she did a splotchy job because "they were too many" but "come back for touch ups." Mind you, I didn't even get a hair cut. Just basic overall dye. Just one purple color. Salon morality: if you know someone comes in without asking the price, you don't take advantage of it. You should let them know ahead of time if the price will be over $150. PERIOD. And btw I got my hair done by them early 2021. They quoted $180 and charged me $250. Kim's daughter and someone else did that and rushed me out. And that was bleaching and dying purple. So these people are totally going to jip you. Do. Not. Go. Period. Normally I go to the same salon to get my nails done but I got a gift certificate to this place for Christmas. I called ahead and set an appointment for Anna who was able to take me within the same day! Upon arrival I was surprised to see they also offer hair and massage services as well. It was a Monday and a day of two before New Years so it was quite empty. I was greeted right away and went over to the pedicure area. The place is really clean. I'm pretty picky when it comes to this (one of the reasons I go to the same place for my nails normally) but I was pleasantly surprised. I got the deluxe pedicure. They have 3 different tiers of this. The certificate was for the $65 one. Cool. This included a scrub, massage, rock massage (which was amaaaazing) and hot towels. Anna was extremely sweet. She asked a few times to make sure the pressure of the massage was okay and she took her time the whole service. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because my polish chipped the next day. A pretty large amount came off. I've never had that happen the next day after a pedicure so it was a bit disappointing but I'd be willing to come in again for sure! read more

They don't do good pedicures (from my experience) and they overcharge you. I came in with my boyfriend and he got a basic manicure.(18) I got a gel deluxe pedicure (50) plus acrylic on the big toes($15) so that's $68 they charged us extra for gel even though I picked the package that included gel they didn't want to refund us. I went in for a basic manicure and Lynn, the technician seemed to be on some sort of time crunch. She was rushing through everything and didn't even properly remove the old polish. This happened the day before Thanksgiving 2022. I walked into Kim's nails as I usually, I never make an appointment because it's usually someone available. At the receptionist desk is who I believe is the owners husband. He asks if I have an appt. And I tell him I don't, he also asked me what services I need and I tell him a fill on my nails. He asks if I can wait 5 minutes, someone is almost finished and can take care of me. I told him that's perfect. Before I could sit down to wait, Kim the owner just finished someone's nails so she tells me to have a seat at her chair. I sit down, we have small talk and she begins to use the drill to remove the polish off of my nails. In the midst of her removing the polish and shaping my nails before the fill there is a lady behind Kim who is getting her hair blow dried and is complaining about the cosmo that's doing her hair. Once the cosmo finished blow drying her hair the lady gets up with the towel still clipped around her neck and goes to the front to pay. She's complaining that she doesn't want the cosmo that's doing her hair to straighten it because she doesn't want any heat damage. She asks a young lady who was providing service to someone else to do get hair but she obviously cannot. Kim tells me one moment and gets up from doing my nails to speak with the lady who's ready to walk out due to not being happy with the services provided. Next thing I know, Kim sits her in an empty cosmo chair, pulls out a blow dryer and flat iron, and starts doing the lady's hair. So I'm sitting there feeling upset because why would you stop doing my nails to jump up and fix this white lashes hair. It felt a bit racist and regardless of race was definitely unprofessional. I'm sitting here with my nails already drilled off nail polish and shaped down before any acrylic is applied so my nails look crazy. I waited 10 minutes and she is full on doing this ladies hair which is bafflingly insulting. I tell the husband at the front to have someone take my nails off at this point. I wait another 5 minutes for another nail tech to finish and she has me sit in her seat to take them off. Her name was Anne, she asked me if I want her to finish my nails or take them off. I told her unless I'm getting a discount for the unprofessionalism and inconvenience I want them removed and I will go somewhere else. She says she has to ask her manager, who of course is Kim the owner who was doing my nails. Kim ends up walking up to me with a rude attitude and asks me what did I say like Anne did already tell her so I repeat that everything once again. She didn't want to give me a discount even though the move she pulled was very disrespectful and I believe is a bit racist as well. So she proceeds to tell me it's $15 to take my nails off. I advise her I had nails and I could've waited to get a fill but you jumped up in the middle of my service and decide to do someone's hair. She tells me that the lady is her daughters friends mom. Again, regardless of who the lady was. If you were already doing my nails and had nothing to do with the woman's hair appointment... getting up to assist her and have me wait was not okay at all. I've gone here for 2 years now and I usually go to get a pedicure and not my nails but I will never give them another dollar. I honestly believe Kim thought it was okay to be unprofessional and disrespectful because I am young and black. Looking at their reviews on Yelp, I see why they only have 3 stars. The services have always been overpriced for mediocre work but I go for the convenience since it's down the street from my house. If I could give them negative stars I would. Never again! read more

My wife had an appointment here for a mani and a pedicure so I decided to tag along. I figured I might as well get a manicure too since my nails were so dirty and my cuticles had gotten thick and dry to a point where it was annoying and an eye sore. To start off I had my nails lined with some softening solution then dipped in a bowl of soapy warm water. A few minutes later my manicurists started to snip away at my cuti's like there's no tomorrow. She was tough yet gentle on her execution. After several rounds, she did a hand-to-arm massage which was so soothingly awesome! My nails were then filed, smoothly sanded down and polished clean. Besides nails this place offered a full hair salon complete with spa treatment. The better half told me this was the only place nearby she'd choose to get her nails done. I have been here before and wanted to treat myself since it's my birthday week, so I decided to go here. I had the basic pedicure and manicure, if you want to even call it that. Levi was helping me. He did a horrible job. He rushed through everything and skipped over stuff. As he was putting lotion on my legs I mentioned my nail was crooked and pointed, because he didn't file them at all. He basically just put the lotion on and then wiped it off. Then filed my toe nails. The manicure was a joke too. He didn't have me soak my hands in water, only pushed the cuticle back on my left finger nails, just put the lotion on my hands and arms and wiped the lotion off with a paper towel, and only used one coat of polish. Felt like I spent more time waiting for the polish to dry then the entire pedicure and manicure. Then I accidentally smudged my nail. He made a sigh sound that was very rude and asked what I touched. My family has been going to Kim's Salon for over ten years, and we love them! It's a great local spot for hair, nails and other personal care. And having lived in New York and other places, I can tell you Kim's is a great spot in the suburbs to get consistent and great hair care for an affordable price. Nancy is amazing with cut and color, and can create whatever customized look you're going for-- and she's seen me through ten years of drastic color changes, color fixes, and literally every hair cut besides a pixie, I think. I'm there every two months for color and cut, and also for nails-- which have a huge range of colors offered and services. I'm a big fan, and coming from city living where there's endless options--it's hard to find that in the suburbs, but you can totally find it at Kim's and their work is wonderful. My dad gets his hair cut there and is happy with how quick and competitively priced it is. My mom also saw both Kim and Nancy for hair cut and color for over ten years, right up until she passed away this year. It was the only place she would trust with her hair, and also her nails-- which she was incredibly particular about. My parents got manicures and pedicures, my father for health reasons and my mom just for personal care. They both were pleased with how thorough the work was and especially my dad-- his feet haven't looked that good in years! I gave Kim's a try after asking a FB group for suggestions for nail salons. I called in for a pedicure availability and they got me right in. However, the young lady took a total of 5 mins only trimming (crooked), filing, and pushing back the cuticles. Which means she wasn't thorough. When she proceeded to scrubbing the bottom of my foot, I asked her to please get my heels real well, she said yes, but filed both feet in a matter of 2mins. The massage was longer than the whole process of prepping and cleaning the nails. And the polish job was decent. Def won't be coming back for a lousy job for a $33 pedicure. Did a walk in last Friday for a pedicure. The young girl at the desk was very nice and friendly. They seated me right away. The lady working on me was friendly but the pedicure service wasn't great. She maybe spent 15-20 mins on me. She barely scrubbed my feet or massaged my legs. $30 for. Regular pedicure is a bit expensive in my opinion. She didn't do anything special.
