Kim's is a hometown favorite. Knowing that the locations are only in Houston is what makes it unique. Although it's a chain, its still a mom/pop store. I love love love their popcorn chicken. The spice level just varies on who's shaking the shaker because it seems like some days I can handle SPICY and others I can't even do MEDIUM on my popcorn chicken. As an asian american, I've been know about tapioca but since this location opened in Katy, it's been introduced to other ethnic groups. I would say I've tried almost all their drinks from simple Honey Green Teas to the most complicated smoothies but my go-to will always be Green Thai Tea with an ice-cream scoop and tapioca (if in the mood). Of course we know drinks can vary according to who's making the drink but that's something that's always been consistent for me. Smoothies/Slurpees/Some teas have been too sweet or too sour or just not right. Green Thai Tea has yet to fail me. I know they moved their location to the right to get a drive-thru window which was an extremely smart idea. Along doing so, their interior has expanded enormously. Super cute inside. Check it out. I normally come to this place for my almond milk tea. Came today to order my specific milk tea and drink was not made with almond milk. When calling to describe my incorrect drink received -I'm placed on hold to only be told my drink wasn't sweetened because I requested more tea. Makes no sense. The bigger issue is that my drink was not made with almond milk -AND how do I know ??!! Because I'm lactose intolerant and I'm now experiencing all the effects. This is unacceptable. I'm then offered a free drink next time. When really who is going to address that my health is impacted based on a mistake. Price increases and better service has me now going to Kravin Desserts and Tapioca. First sinker is even free at Kravin. I will not be going back to Kim's. read more

This place is one of the few ok boba places in Katy. Even though it's not as well known as Kung Fu tea, the quality is on par. However, it's definitely less crowded and doesn't have the cool young people vibe to it. Just a tip, their popcorn chicken is on point but the bánh mì is horrible. read more

You must take this review seriously. Very seriously. If only because I am writing it as the passenger in the train that is the KimTrain. My wife found Kim's when we first moved to Katy 3 years ago, and although we have explored all that Bellaire has to offer (and that area is AWESOME), it's nice to have an excellent option about 2 miles from the house, too. And it's not a lesser option. In fact, for your daily tea stop (especially bubble tea), Kim's is awesome. Too many "awesomes"...Kim's is unique- it is always efficient, tasty, well-made, quality stuff. You can't beat that. Let me take a step back and tell you something else: Kim (the force of nature behind the name) is awesome. She's regularly in the store keeping tabs on things, and making sure everyone is well-cared for. Calvin is in there as well- and the two of them are like customer service dynamos, and the employees at the Katy store are exemplary. Love them all- love them so much, because my wife's order has evolved over time, and because they know her, and her crazy requests, I don't actually have to remember what she wants, they just know. If that's not the Tea House equivalent of Cheers, I don't know what is. After visiting basically every bahn mi option in Chinatown, I gave Kim's a chance, and while bahn mi is "basically" the same, her variant is excellent. Yeah, we could debate the merits of various bahn mi for hours. Hers is good. Especially the Kim's Special BBQ. Can't say enough about this location, too- my favorite of them all. 2 ** service 4**** drinks I am a frequent and loyal customer of Kim Teahouse but my past visits has been nothing but disappointments. I make the mobile order from Yelp and they have either gave me an incorrect drink or charge me for a drink that they never made. I even place my order on weekday when it's not during busy hours and they seem to still mess up my order. I can't express how much my love for Tapioca/Boba Tea goes. Seriously. Kim's Teahouse is great. I've tried their other locations as well. THUMBS UP! I can understand a lot of users talk about cost, generally the boba tea drinks are pretty much expensive anywhere, including the shops that are trying to break into the tea shops. It's average. The drinks, I have tried which I love are: Strawberry Mango with a scoop of ice cream (blended) with Tapioca Strawberry Banana with tapioca Taro Root Smoothie with Tapioca Lychee slurpy with lychee jelly Lychee slurpy with mixed jelly Taro Root milk tea with tapioca Mango Smoothie I have tried the green tea, avocado, Fruit Tea, & Honey Black Tea. I've tried most of the sinkers. Except for egg pudding, Agar, and Herbal jelly. Every time we order drinks they are the same consistency. Never change of formula no matter who is working. I have tried the Kim's Special BBQ Sandwhich, is basically a Banh Mi. {price is understandable since it's outside of Bellaire area} Atmosphere is wonderful, love the study vibe, and retro look. This is my #1 hangout place I'd usually visit mostly after school. Not because the place is really good, but what makes it special is the seriously delicious boba they serve there. My father and I usually get boba there like, whenever we'd try something different with other items or go there because we're in the mood, it means that place is just really into us that I think it's like a landmark for boba to me. I really support the customer service they provide there at Kim's because they always know what's up and what I know what to get, and I appreciate that from Kim's employees and workers. The staff is so nice, the girl that I think was making the drinks was being really helpful in my decision and my drink came out SO good. She didn't add a million pounds of ice which was nice because my beverage was cold enough and didn't finish in two sips. I really like this place and 10/10 recommend. I'm glad there's one of these in Katy! The popcorn chicken is the best snack - I love the spiciness, flavor and crunchiness. I also love banh mi sandwiches and this place doesn't disappoint. As far as the drinks, I'm on the fence. The almond milk tea is strong on the almond flavor, and my sister thought the strawberry green tea was too sweet. The tapioca is good though; soft, chewy, and slightly sweet as it should be. I also like that they have basil seed drink. I'll probably return to try some of their other flavors. read more

First let's start with their tapioca drinks. The tapioca is good, sweet and slightly chewy. They give you a good amount and not skimp out. They have a variety of flavors to choose from and are all very tasty. I've tried teas, coffee and just juices and have not been disappointed. They have a few food choices and I have to admit I've tastes almost the entire menu. The bbq Banh mi is a must. The flavor combination is awesome. Also their popcorn chicken have some addicting mix to it that I can't describe. The fried squid balls are good on its own if ordered spicy. The atmosphere is uniquely laid back with a couch area and tabletop games such as Jenga. Coincidentally, teens and college kids love this place, which means it can get a bit loud for some. I LOVE Kim's Teahouse. It's my favorite tapioca place. I always call ahead and order an iced vanilla cappuccino without tapioca. Service is always pleasant and fast. However, the last two times I've ordered, they've given me my drink WITH tapioca!!! And there's this new girl who doesn't understand English. Always love the sandwiches at Kim's. Love that they have multiple locations. Wanted to get a quick bite before a movie, so we came here. Drinks and food came out fast. Got the Special combo pork sandwich and a tapioca cream tea. They don't skimp on the meat! Which I'm sure anyone would like! Pâté was great; it's flavor is usually faint in most sandwiches I've had but this was flavorful. Could use a little more veggies. I always get a regular Cream Tea at any boba place I go to. This one tasted different than everyone else's, it was a bit florally. Service is good, nice and friendly, especially by young girls who are probably in hs or college, so that's a plus! read more

the service and the basil and 5 spice chicken was amazing. OUTSIDE of that, i left a backpack there that i desperately needed by 5am the next morning! i called all the locations in less than 5 min before closing and they ALL answered and were extremely helpful. i finally called this mason location literally 1minute to close and the young lady answered the phone with friendliness and cheer. she made special accommodations for me to be able to pick up my backpack AFTER closing. you can't pay for service like that! she could have said no and would have had every right to. but her and the staff helped me out SO much and went out of their way to help me. they have a 5spice and basil chicken dish at LA crawfish closer to me in memorial (i live in the heights) but because of this exceptional level of service (way above average) i will travel to kims teahouse for theirs (which i like a lot it tastes amazing) and tip accordingly. My 2nd shot at this review hope this can change some views of my old review! So ever since then I have been a bit adventurous in trying different drinks every time. I have been disappointed a few times ever since the last time I've visited. Fiancee and I come here quite regularly 2-3 times a week. This place is truly the closes to china town quality, maybe a step down. I would say I'm a huge tapioca drink fanatic as equal to people that are addicted to starbucks. Yes this place is good don't let my 3 star deter anyone from coming here. So here are the list of drinks we had and the quality and complaints if any. Cream tea w/ grass jelly and tapioca- The sound of this drink sounds a bit bland for a fact, the taste of it was bland as I mentioned previously nothing to exciting about it and to top it off, When I got home found out that I paid for the tapioca and my cup was filled with grass jelly only. super LAME!!! Vanilla ICED latte- This is my fiancee Favorite. I have taken a few sips and I see why she's slowly transitioning over from Starbucks to Kim's Tea House.. Flavor is on point !! Mango club soda- Sounds Delicious , but not so great. WAY too sweet. and for the price this is a total rip off. club soda and syrup should not cost more than other drinks!! Honey Green tea-- Personally I like my Tea's less water down, may not seem like it is while making, but filling the cup with half ice does it. Strawberry Passion Fruit slushy w/tapioca- The BOMB !!!! Added all the coffee, flavoring syrup and whatever they use and mixed it all in the THIN plastic cup . so the Problem with this is pouring hot water in a thin plastic cup. I use to work in food, This is not acceptable to have this practice. I saw mixing cups/materials in arms reach. Not sure if it was laziness or just the whatever attitude! This was during a slow hour, no one else was in line except for ......MYSELF!! if it was busy that is somewhat understandable. Two words: way too expensive.. I was going to write "too expensive," but I feel like I need to add the "way." Currently, they take up the tapioca market in Katy, which is maybe why the prices are way too high compared to Bellaire. However... the quality is so good and delicious. It's a good treat. I would have given it a 4 for the quality of the tapioca drinks in Katy, but I won't be returning due to $$$. Update: I updated the stars for the quality of the drinks and service. Kim's Tea House is one of my favorite places to get boba, and it's probably the only place to get good tea in Katy! I always get the jasmine green tea with boba, and it has never disappointed me!
