My third, no I think 4th time that I have been to Kimura. I keep coming back. I also keep saying that I am only going to eat half the portion but that doesn't happen. The show is fun the 1st, 2nd and 3rd time. But not so much on the 4th BUT the food is great. Tonight I had the hibachi shrimp with shrimp. Yum, yum. Last time I had the vegetable hibachi and that came with tofu, yes tofu. I like tofu. Wait staff is nice, friendly and accommodating. Restaurant is decorated beautifully. We were looking for a place open for a late lunch for some sushi and Kimura was the spot. They have happy hour and food specials even on Sundays which is awesome. My cousin and I both had the sashimi sushi platter. It came with wakame salad, miso soup or salad, a pork and shrimp shumai (which is a steamed dumpling just in case lol people do ask) California roll, 3 pieces of sashimi and 3 pieces of sushi. Basically a ton of good food for 14 dollars. Not too shabby if you ask me. We sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chef was very friendly. Ohhh ya about the happy hour it's two for one on house wine, house sake and certain beers.....I had the sake, so 2 large hot sakes for 9 bucks, again not too shabby. We had the cook top dining which makes it amusing place to bring out of towners. It's all pretty standard food, good but not great. Instead of the steak we should have gotten the filet, the steak was extremely tough. The scallops had sand in them, not good. Chicken a d salmon were good. One of the first smells upon entering this hibachi grill was the amazing smell of BLEACH! (Concerns me very much when I can smell that over hibachi!!) The food is great for dining in. The one star is for this reason....DON'T order it to go. We placed an order to go that consisted of double rice, no veggies and the two meats. When we got home and opened the container, the amount of food in there was enough to be the size of a kid's meal. Definitely did not contain the double rice order, and there was barely any meat. I ordered the combination steak and chicken with a few sides and it was awful. The steak was chewy so bad piece of steak to sell your customers and the chicken was chewy. I've had my birthday here for the past 2 years and always go to it when taking out family! The owner is so sweet and helpful, if you get a funny chef it makes the entire night 1000 times better! Food is delicious and fills you up quick since they bring out the soup/salad then slowly add on to your plate, I get double white sauce. I paid the full bill, tipped my waitress, and we sat for a bit more so I could finish my beer. Shortly after, the waitress had the audacity to ASK me for a BIGGER TIP. I understand tips make up most of a servers paycheck, but under no circumstance should I ever be asked to give her a larger tip. I tipped, like I should, and that was completely unnacceptable of her to ask me that. I work in the restaurant business myself, and when a server doesn't get tipped at all, they DONT GET TO SAY A WORD. This is the 3rd time I've eaten here but the 3rd time was definitely not the charm. The chef who's name is "Honda" was very rude, no personality, no people skills and just overall no personality. What usually is a great experience for my wife and (4) boys was terrible to say the least. And for weeks my (4) boys had been begging my wife and I to take them back to Kimura and to finally do this and eat out as a family for the 1st time in public in (18) months just to receive such poor service is extremely frustrating and very disappointing. Server ran out after us into the parking lot to our car to ask why we didn't tip. Here was the reason why. The food was mediocre. The ambiance was loud just like you expect at a typical teppan place, but dirty as hell. Everything felt sticky. As the hostess walked us over to our seats, my seat happened to have a dirty napkin and half full cup of water he quickly picked it up. Tldr: Overall it was a fun experience. I wouldn't go back just for the food but for a huge group event where we can take our time and enjoy the entertainment of the cooking and food tossing experience. General: Went here on a Friday night with 20 people for a birthday party. Made reservations ahead of time. If you want to sit at a hibachi table you should definitely make a reservation. Because our party was so large they sat us at 2 facing tables. It is a bit pricey ($25 for shrimp hibachi) but you pay for the entertainment. Our chef was very funny and entertaining letting one of us try to toss up and egg and catch it (didn't work out so well), putting on elaborate flame shows, and tossing pieces of shrimp into our mouths. I was also impressed at how efficient the service was, especially with tending to such a large party. Food: The shrimp hibachi that I got was good. The soup that they bring out was a bit salty so I just ate the mushroom pieces and left the rest alone. The salad is simple lettuce with s pretty great ginger salad dressing. I would recommend paying the $1-2 upcharge to get the fried rice. They prepare it in front of you and it tastes way better than the sticky white rice. They sautéed veggies in front of you and then prepare all the different protein options for the table. I liked the shrimp I got and enjoyed it with the white sauce they put out (not sure exactly what it was but it tasted good). The food wasn't elaborate or fancy but they gave you a good amount and it was tasty. They also have a pretty good non-hibachi selection- sushi, avocado salad, fried rice- but I don't feel like it is worth going here and not ordering the hibachi. Drinks: I got wine which was nothing to write home about but it was good. Some people at our table got this rainbow drink and all really enjoyed it. The sake comes in a big container so I would suggest getting it to share. The reason for 4 stars is that although it is a fun experience is that the food is pricey for how simple it is (protein, rice, and veggies). read more

We went here for Valentine's Day because all the big chains are usually packed and have long waits on Valentine's Day. We were craving hibachi and were fully satisfied when we left. The guy making our food was so funny and interactive, making us all laugh as we wait for our food. I had the chicken option and my boyfriend got shrimp and steak. Both were mouth watering good. The restaurant is spacious and clean and the staff is friendly as well. I did not get a chance to look at the rest of the menu extensively but it looked like they have a variety of options. My awesome mother in law brought my husband and I here. We live in the area and have been wanting come here for a very long time. We have done hibachi before in Chicago and it's always been a good experience with good food. This place is the best hibachi I've ever had! Kimura Steakhouse-false advertising. I went to Kimura steakhouse the other night after ordering 2 fillet and scallop dinners. I had a buy one get one free coupon that specifically said it must be ordered from the dinner menu. I got there and presented my coupon and there was a lot of to do about it. The manager came to me and said we cannot possibly authorize this coupon we won't make any money. I said what are you talking about and he said it's just for the three items pictured. I said if it's only for the three pictured items then why does it say items must be from dinner menu only? He said we cannot do it and took my credit card and charged me $80. I live 2 miles from Kimura when I got home after waiting an additional 20 minutes for my food it was not only cold but incomplete. It was supposed to have scallops, fillet, rice, soup and salad. there was no salad but instead they put mixed vegetables in the container. There were literally 3 halved scallops and some cut up steak that was full of gristle. I called my bank to dispute the charge and tell them that it was supposed to be a buy one get one and they could not do anything. So just beware. read more

BE VERY CAREFUL AT THIS PLACE! Make sure to double check you bill. There's a sign when you enter the building that states "Parties of 4 or more will have gratuity added to the bill. With that being understood, having only a party of 2 I noticed that the gratuity was added to my bill, I then questioned as to why it was added, to have the waitress to tell me she assumed I was with the other people (because we were all African-American) when she actually brought 3 separate receipts to the Hibachi. I then requested to to speak with a manager to only be insulted. When I questioned the manager as to why was there a gratuity added to my bill he responded in a VERY RUDE and manner an tone of agitation asking "are you really gonna question a gratuity?" "If you can't afford to eat out, then don't eat out!" I simply responded that me being able to afford to eat out wasn't the issue. It's the principle and lack of integrity. He then said "Just pay your bill and get out!" This was a horrible experience for me and I will NEVER eat from or recommend this place to ANYONE. read more
