I'd like to start this review off with making sure everyone is aware that this is not a restaurant this is a business at a home and it's meant for pick up and advance ordering only. They might do delivery. I'm not sure but it's definitely has to be done in advance. The sushi rolls and sushi pieces some of them were your normal type of Sushi, but most of them had some little savor surprise with each bite. One of them had an orange/Citrus. Another one had weird things on top that might've been saffron, but it was actually shredded, dry red pepper. I called the day of and he was ready for me by 5:45 pm He texted me directions and told me to text him 15 minutes before I got there, which I didn't realize until I looked back at the directions for the exact address, but he was very accommodating. He gave me the code to get into the gate and met me outside. Typically, he said his wife would meet me at the gate, but she was out doing a delivery. As someone who's lived here the majority of their adult life and comes from a seafood family, the fish used is by far better than what you get in most restaurants in the area (in my humble and experienced opinion). If you didn't feel the love from the flowers or garnishes, you certainly feel it when you realize your sushi sits on a big ol' leaf and your ginger is in a paper boat. Presentation and eating with your eyes is a major part of this journey. I will admit the rolls weren't my favorite (a little too salty for my personal taste) but they still tasted fresh and certainly well made. Interesting concept and immaculate sushi! I got The Killer delivered to Boca and it was a top notch platter with some unique options I hadn't tried before. Expert attention and skill to the sushi as well (no funky cuts or loose rolls even good sushi restaurants will give you). What a gem, The reviews and pictures looked so good. As a sushi fanatic, I had to give this place a try. The chef was super sweet and accommodating when I placed my order the day of. The order was packed with care, the decorations made the experience eating at home that much nicer. For $44, you get 6 rolls and 4 pieces of sushi. Macia San has an attention to detail that is just unrivaled. We've eaten lots of sushi in our lives, and this is one of our favorite. We love Tokyo but our trip to go back this year was canceled since the Japanese govt still hasn't reopened borders after the pandemic. This was such a beautiful way for us to enjoy a tiny bit of Tokyo at home. We started from the lighter side of the fiesta board (bottom) and worked our way upward to the deeper flavors. Each roll he creates is a story of flavor, and the layers of lemongrass, ginger, truffle, toasted sesame, miso, wafu, ikura, citrus...they are all chapters in that story. When you eat large quantity of sushi, it is important to feel that each roll has a unique flavor profile and each texture is different so that you are having a unique experience with each bite. Macia San delivers that experience beautifully. Each bite is a symphony of flavor and texture and you truly feel as though you are taking a journey. The ingredients are fresh, there is a lot of variety, and the entire experience of eating is elevated and enjoyable. Sushi Fella (and Macia San) is a delight! We ordered from SF a few times when he was based in Queens, always the Fiesta set for 3-4 people. (It's the perfect amount of sushi/sashimi/nigiri for our family of 4!) The platters are gorgeously presented, and I love letting the chef choose everything that goes into it (note that you can make requests if there's something, for example, you don't want included). It's a great deal for the quality (and amount) of the fish you get and the impressive presentation. Now that Sushi Fella is in Lake Worth, all the foodies in Jackson Heights miss him terribly. But we will 100% be ordering from SF again when we visit our Florida family next month, and we look forward to introducing them to this special sushi business. Excellent sushi that I didn't realize was in my own neighborhood. Chef Macia's preparations are delightful displays themselves and worth a few minutes of visual inspection before you take your first bite. I kind of just marveled at the seasonal fall flowers lying next to the different seaweeds surrounding the colorful rolls and sushi.
