We were referred to this office by our pediatrician, and I'll admit I was a little nervous since I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't sure how they conducted eye exams on kids under two, and I wasn't sure how my son would react. All the staff members we encountered were kind and clearly communicated the process & next steps. My son has a minor astigmatism in both eyes, so they ended up needing to dilate them first. You can tell their team is well versed in working with children and they had a friendly, calming presence. My son actually did so well and was relaxed the entire time. Didn't even shed a tear. He received the eyedrops with ease and then we had to wait about 20 minutes for his eyes to dilate before seeing the doctor. The test consists of a series of lights and he was actually pretty mesmerized. Ultimately, we left with good news that he won't be needing glasses right away, and we'll come back again in 6 months to see if there's been any improvement. The cost (even with insurance) was the major bummer. They can't tell you how much it's going to be upfront because it depends on what tests they end up needing to do. So $300 later, this was an expensive preventative measure.

To start, the wait times after you check in are awful. I should not have to wait more than 10 minutes after my scheduled time to be seen by a person. We've had to wait at least 20 minutes each time. Secondly, the waiting area is crowded and kind of dirty and run down. The seats have rips and cracks that will tear up the back of your legs if you dare to wear shorts to your appointment. The seats are arranged in corners so you will be knee to knee with another person if there are a lot of people in the room. The carpet looked like it needed a vacuum. There were white pieces of paper all over the floor. My daughter had to enter a few different rooms for her evaluation and 2 of the 4 spaces looked like storage closets. One had tables and a painting shoved in a corner. Another had a desk and a printer just lying on the carpet. It was just all very icky, messy, and dirty. New waiting area furniture and perhaps curtains to hide the equipment strewn about the office would help.

I was there two weeks ago…read more I commented to the technician that they didn't seem to have the same cleanliness measures that they use to have, She said that they wipe down the equipment. The next day I got a huge stye in my eye that still hasn't completely cleared two weeks later. But that's not the topping on the cake. My husband--who isn't very good about making appointments with Dr's until there is a need--got something in his eye that is causing him a lot of pain. He called and they turned him away, saying he hasn't been there in two years. I'm super tired about Dr's not caring about patients, but rather their own bottom line. So this office is another office that just plain doesn't care. Oh... but there is more. My mother had her cateracts done by Dr Aziz at least 10 years ago and still has trouble with her eyes, then my father's had his cateracts done by Dr Aziz and sees worse now than he did before the surgeries. I do not recommend this office or Doctor and I am super disappointed with the whole situation.

This was the greatest possible experience I could ever have. Both eyes came out 20-20, across all distances from 16" to infinity, with zero astigmatism. They started out about -3.5D nearsighted and up to 1.5D astigmatism. Absolutely awesome experience. I am a PITA about surgery. I research and question everything. Its sometimes hard for doctors to put up with me and my questions. Dr. Shumski not only did great work, but was gracious about my questions and called me 3 times to answer questions. I also got several email answers. I received full documentation about the surgery and all questions/concerns were answered. His staff and associates were also wonderful. From the receptionist to techs to ophthalmologist who reviewed my post-surgery progress. I cannot be more happy about the entire experience.

First of all the lady knows her profession inside and out, but she treats you with kindness and respect. Everything I want in a friend. We have gone to Dr Poulos off an on as my husband's cataracts got worse and he recently had surgery to replace his eye lens. Dr Poulos consulted with us. She took the time to present the facts, help us decide and explain what would happen. Her staff is also efficient and caring. They work together like a team and the educate and prepare you for your procedure. They present you with a little kit and a folder with the exact instructions easily mapped out. Overall the kindness and caring I see in Dr Poulos is also reflected in her staff. They use the latest equipment to measure and gather the information for the procedure. They give you instructions written and verbal and call you before the appointment to make sure you understand exactly what to do. Our contact for surgery scheduling made it convenient and she was very nice as she worked to get both eyes completed before the holidays. The drops that you must buy for cataract surgery can be costly. Dr Poulos works with a pharmacy that delivers but more importantly they offer a really good discount. A co-worker went to a different doctor and paid $100 for each of 3 small bottles and my average for similar 3 bottles was $65 each. A significant savings and one I would not have known about except Dr Poulous negotiates to provide their patients an easy way to get the medication at a significant savings. The staff is really good about keeping the appointments on schedule with little to no waiting so they get you in and out. We saw another doctor before selecting Dr Poulos. They had us waiting for so long (in the waiting room and in the exam room) and when we did see the doctor we got a hard sell to upgrade out of pocket. I am so glad I checked with my friend on who she had used for her cataract procedure and was happy to get the referral to Dr. Margaret Poulos.

Mixed review: Optometrist is personable and professional,…read moreand the eye exam part I have few issues with, other than I'm annoyed that a retina scan (not covered by insurance) is now mandatory - seems like a cash grab to pay for an expensive machine, and I'd prefer the option to do the retina scan every few years. Because of this it's a 4/5. Frame boutique: I actually chose this practice specifically because they sell Silhouette frames, but they are extremely expensive, and somehow even a worse deal if you just need replacement lenses? I was told "our coatings are SO much better than you can get elsewhere". Ok I said, but less than 2 years after my lenses were replaced in August 2024, all the anti reflective coating was wearing off all around the rims of both lenses?! There is a 2 year warranty, but from the original date of purchase (not date of replacement, apparently). I think I'll be buying my glasses from Costco from now on for 1/4 the cost. My coatings have never worn off from anything I bought there (or that I bought 10 years ago in Miami for that matter). I do not have faith in the the lab WPEA uses.

When Dr. Straughn came in she was very thorough in explaining my options and even gave me some things to think about in the future for sunglasses. When I sat after my exam with Frank to pick out my glasses he was very helpful in helping me make a selection that was not only comfortable but also afforable and looked good on my face. Emily was also great! I booked my appointment completely online and the entire process from start to finish was positive and couldn't have been any easier. There was ample parking behind the building, and the waiting room is separate from the show room which made the process of selecting frames stress free.
