Went here for Thanksgiving dinner, so I can't say much about their regular menu. However, the dinner tasted like a touch of home. It was prepared with very traditional fixings and flavors. The turkey was moist and flavorful, the potatoes were creamy, and the fresh cranberry sauce was delightful. I also had the Gulf shrimp cocktail, and the shrimp was perfectly prepared. Not overdone at all. My only complaint was their macaroni and cheese. It was made with three cheeses, so I was excited for the complexity of flavors. However, instead of preparing it as a big dish that is gooey and creamy, it was prepared more like a pasta dish, with an al dente pasta mixed in with a cheese sauce, topped with a crunchy bread topping and put in the oven briefly. It was my least favorite dish of the evening. The service was quick and attentive, and the ambiance was warm and energetic. They have plenty of seating for large groups.
I'm a little annoyed at myself as I write this review because I got a parking ticket while here! :/ Anyways, this place is cute! They have a lovely, sophisticated, modern decor. We ordered the biscuit and gravy, and I added an egg. The biscuit was a bit dense. It's certainly not your grandma's melt-in-your-mouth biscuits. They were buttered or glazed with something on top, and overall, they were decent biscuits. The dish also comes with crispy potatoes. The potatoes were lovely, they are cubed, fried potatoes and were cooked to the perfect crisp level. The gravy was thick and creamy, and it carried a lot of flavor. They chicken sausage is chopped up in tiny pieces, so I suggest adding another protein to the meal. The price is pretty average for a hotel bar/restaurant, and I think it was worth the price. Also, some lady popped up out of nowhere and made small talk with us about our order and how good the biscuit and gravy is. I'm assuming she's the manager or something. She was very friendly, but didn't introduce herself, so we were taken aback at first!

A friend of mine knows Chef Sam, so we were already in good hands, but the experience truly exceeded every expectation. I ordered the duck, and listen.. I've been back at least once a week ever since just to have it again. It's that serious. I also love lounging at the bar from time to time. Diamond is an absolute gem and takes great care of me every visit. This stunning restaurant sits inside the Hotel Fontenot right on Tchoupitoulas. A solid 10/10 recommend.
4/5 Food 3.5/5 Ambiance I love this place! I ate breakfast here almost every day during my stay. Great food, especially all of the pastries. My favorite was the quiche Lorraine served with a side salad for breakfast. The homemade crust is noticeably flaky and wonderful. The accompanying salad is perfectly dressed. The crawfish beignets are not to be missed. They are light as a feather,crunchy with a delectable soft and cheesy center.
King is in one of our favorite hotels in New Orleans, so it has become an automatic go-to for us because it is convenient and we have generally gotten breakfast with our room as either part of our room rate or as an IHG Diamond member. If we went on food alone, it would make sense that this was our go-to. If we went on most other things (e.g., timeliness, organization, consistency of service), it would not make sense. Let me explain. I've never had bad food here. Ever. And I've probably tried 75% of the brunch menu at this point. The food is generally solid, and even though there are a few things that are better than others (e.g., burger over the big breakfast, frittata over croque monsieur, crawfish beignets over oysters), you won't go wrong with the food. It's excellent. The biggest issue - and it's a consistent one - is the general management and efficiency of the restaurant. Our last visit took 2.25 hours in total with a moderately "crowded" place. A tale out order placed while we were at our table took more than an hour. There seems to be actual clarity about how things flow and what's going on, and that hasn't gotten much better (or at all) over time. Fix those things - and consistently so - and this would be a solid 4/4.5, maybe 5 stars.

More like a 3.5. Was staying at the hotel Kimpton and had breakfast here one morning. Husband got the eggs your way platter and I got the avo toast. We also got a side of grits and fruit. Total was a whopping $61-very pricy. Portions were really small for the prices and service was okish and very slow compared to the rest of the hotel. There were only 3 tables full at breakfast so no reason for the slow service. My avo toast was just a slice of whole wheat bread (seemed store bought) with a very thin layer of smashed avocado and 2 spiral of cucumber. Looked fancy but not worth the $17 price tag. Husband's egg platter was better but still small.
This sweet spot is located inside a hotel with another amazing restaurant and a beautiful coffee shop. Each place I interacted with while trying to locate King Brasserie inside was delightfully helpful and informative. The customer service from the barista Moon was phenomenal I had a strawberry macha which was perfect and delectable. I felt special and seen throughout our happy hour experience.Would definitely return. I recommend.
What a nice spot! Went for dinner before a concert for the first time. The food was pretty good. The ambiance is nice and the service was on point! I had the steak tartare to start and it was pretty good but something in it was off putting to me. The barbecue shrimp were super delicious...the sauce was amazing. My husband had the burger and I had the bouillabaisse. Both were pretty tasty. I'll be back because they had some other items I wanted to try and I want to check out their happy hour. Check em out it's worth it!!!!
Came straight for the airport for the crawfish beignets. Also ordered the gumbo to make a dinner of it. Crawfish beignets are very tasty but the filling had too much sauce to crawfish for me especially since the sauce was similar if not the same as the dipping sauce. Loved the gumbo though would have been nice in a bigger portion size. Great service and was surprised area street parking was free on a week night according to the payment app I was forced to download when I entered the zone.
This was a big surprise for me. Had never heard of it but it was on the Coolinary site. It's a little tricky to find. It's the restaurant affiliated with the Hotel Fontenot. Arrived at 12:30 for the brunch and we were literally the only guests which made me nervous. Not a good sign. However I was dead wrong. It's an attractive space. Started off with crawfish beignets which were served very hot. A cheesy mess inside. Fantastic. Arugula salad with fried anchovies, Parm and breadcrumbs. We all had Oyster BLTs which were dynamite. Very hot freshly fried oysters, bacon, lettuce and tomato and green goddess dressing. Very generous portion of perfectly cooked fries. Yum. Chef complimented us a trio of sorbet--, vanilla, fresh peach and chocolate. Just the perfect amount. It closes after lunch and reopens at 5. We parked in lot across the street.
I was staying at the Hotel Fontenot with F&B credit to use, so I had the pleasure of trying both brunch and dinner menus at King Brasserie. I had a weird choice of breakfast, because I wanted to try the crawfish beignets to see if I should order them again for dinner. I got that, a cold brew (smooth, good, I love ice nuggets), a fried egg, and fruits. The beignets were way too salty. I understand it's normally supposed to accompany a sweet cocktail, but there was no way I could reorder these. The salt drowned out all of the spices, the cheese, and the crawfish flavors. I did really love the egg, though. Perfectly over-medium and fresh tasting. The fruits were really well prepared also. I grabbed a croissant to go, which was buttery and hefty as a midday snack. For dinner, I did have to get my food to go as I was going to prepare for an evening Zoom meeting. I got the sea urchin carbonara and the Louisiana barbecue shrimp. The sea urchin carbonara was a little more al dente than I would have loved, and a little mild for having bottarga and sea urchin in it. I thought maybe the mildness was a choice to prevent the dish from becoming too fishy or briny, though. I loved the shrimp more. It was borderline overcooked, but came in a delicious Cajun creamy sauce I could drown in. The little bit of rosemary biscuit did work as a sauce picker-upper, but I honestly started putting the sauce on my pasta. I could have drank that sauce. It goes well with the sweet shrimp but I have a feeling it goes well with most things. Amazingly my favorite experience at King Brasserie was this pecan praline beignets. I got to try a couple of other beignets while in NOLA but this was the best one. And it wasn't even piping hot by the time I got to it, but it did not matter. The nuttiness from the pecan and the regally sweet praline was surrounded by puffy but not doughy layers of the beignet. The caramel sauce for dipping was indulgent but not overly sweet. I do wish I got to try other items at King Brasserie, but this was a good sampling of key Louisiana flavors elevated. read more
The hotel restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is a safe, reliable option, but the food is pricy and not that good, compared to the other 2 establishments in the hotel (Gospel Coffee and Boozy Treats, Peacock Room). We went here solely because we had the $100 food and beverage credits + 20% discount from the destination fee paid at the hotel. For dinner, we happened to be seated during happy hour 5-7pm so we got the beignet board, crispy LA oysters, pork terrine, and lobster bouillabaisse. For cocktails we tried Barq Side of the Moon from regular menu and The King from HH menu. The beignet board is a joke - they are tiny beignets definitely not representative of what a New Orleans beignet is; there is barely any filling. The crispy LA oysters were decent but a lot of batter. Pork terrine is okay - a bit strong on the pork flavor. Lobster bouillabaisse could be more flavorful but the seafood is fresh. The cocktails were good but I liked the execution at Peacock room better. The plus is that they gave us an extra King cocktail as they made an extra, so we were well fed with drinks. For breakfast, we tried the eggs benedict and shrimp and grits. That is already the $45 allotment from hotel credits so it is pricy. You can get way more food and specialty lattes for 2 and still not go over $45 at Gospel Coffee. The eggs benedict were good but the potatoes were underseasoned but large in quantity. Shrimp and grits were really delicious, though it is on the richer side so do not be fooled by the portion size. Shrimp is really fresh. Service is good but can be a bit inattentive at times, which is surprising since there were not many tables occupied. Overall, would go here only if you want to try something different but I would prefer the other 2 hotel restaurants (Gospel Coffee for breakfast, Peacock Room for light bites) otherwise. read more

Came here after a long flight and trek to our hotel. It was a bit challenging to find so we circled around for a bit, before realizing it is in a hotel. Not sure about parking because it was right next to the hotel we were staying at. Loved that it was exactly the vibe we were looking, casual cute with a loud exciting ambiance. It was very crowded but I was happy they were able to seat us right away at the bar. I started off with the French onion soup with was delicious! Then we shared the burger and oh boy did it hit the spot. Only downside was the service was a bit off. People seemed very distracted and irritated to be taking orders. However it was Mardi Gras week and valentines day so hoping that is a one off. Overall 4/5 stars. read more

We had an awesome experience. We sat outside. They had a great kids menu for my 4 year old - burger and fries. I had the carbonara (and added blue crab) and it was excellent. My dad had the gulf fish and it was incredible. My friend had the short rib which was super rich but delicious. All plates were licked clean. Drinks were stiff. It was conveniently 1 blocks from our convention center hotel inside a different hotel but it did not feel like a hotel restaurant. Would come again. read more
I stayed in the Kimpton Hotel where King Brasserie is located so I had breakfast here daily and a Hurricane. I will start with the drink. The hurricanes were so good. Nothing like syrupy sweet drinks that you find at other places. It was so well balanced. Now to the food everything I ate was delicious, even the oatmeal, the oatmeal! read more
We went for happy hour on a Tuesday. The restaurant was pretty empty most of the time we were there, so the service was prompt. My dining partner wasn't impressed by the menu, but she pieced together a meal with appetizers and a side. The host told us that King Brasserie is one of the few places that offer full size portions for Coolinary, so I tried that. I started with the gazpacho--which was refreshing in this heat. A pinch more of salt would have elevated the dish. My second course was the duck with fava beans and andouille sausage. I didn't quite understand the concept of the dish or why it had two proteins, but it wasn't bad. The dessert, peach basil panna cotta, had a heavy basil flavor, but I don't mind that because I like basil. My dining partner didn't like it. We also had oysters; they were better without the sauce pairings. The hot sauce wasn't hot at all. My friend enjoyed her grilled octopus, but said that it was a bit on the chewy side. She ordered the Brussels sprouts, and we both found them to be unbearably sweet. We also had a couple of drinks. Those were cute. read more
King Brasserie is like the French Riviera and New Orleans got tipsy, made a bouillabaisse baby, and fed it steak frites. The vibe is so charming you'll feel underdressed even in your best outfit. And the sweet potato crème brûlée? It's so different but so good! read more

Very laid back environment with really great food and service. Also probably one of the best burgers I've ever had! We ordered the whole fish and the croquettes too, so good. The fish had bones so it was definitely some work but it was simply cooked and had a lot of flavor. Centrally located so easy to get to and worth the visit read more

First time and I tried the brunch on Sunday! Great experience, great staff & service, and the food / French/nola cuisine was delicious. Brunch menu had a great variety of options to choose from. Enjoyed the Croque Madam on croissant which I thoroughly enjoyed as well as the Quiche Lorraine was delicious with the fresh green salad on the side and of course mimosas. Also had the crawfish beignets which were so yummy. Since it was my first time I also wanted to try the happy hour menu - ordered the cheese plate 2 cheeses with the accoutrements and the decadent chocolate & caramel dessert. Happy hour cocktails - made to perfection...ordered the King & Queen!!! So yummy. Would definitely go back again to try the dinner menu. Love the location in the Hotel Fontenot and the fresh vibe of the restaurant. Chef came out a few times to present a few dishes which was a nice touch. Can't wait to go back abs try a few more options. read more

Fit for a King or Queen! I would definitely recommend this place for Happy Hour (great craft cocktails), great small bite options, and amazing pastries/desserts. 5 stars! However, I was underwhelmed by my entree (Gulf Fish). Additional deats before you go... Love Love the "King" inspired photos. It's insta worthy. Happy Hour: Daily from 5-7 pm Valet Parking: $15 Service: Our server had great energy and I appreciated the pastry chef attention to detail. She delivered our desserts and even recommended something else for us to try! read more

I came here doing krewe du vieux because it is on the route! Dinner and a parade, can't beat that! It was Mardi Gras so of course we ordered all 3 of the seasonal cocktails. Shockingly the "twelfth night" was my favorite and it was Jameson based! I usually don't prefer brown liquor but it was delicious! We ordered an assortment of things! For appetizers we had the crawfish beignets and tuna tartare. The beignets were good but I feel like they didn't really taste like beignets. Not sure how to describe it but still tasty! The tuna tartare was good and fresh! The burger was so juicy and delicious! I wanted the apple pie dessert they had that night but they were out so we tried the ice cream trio, the mini king cake and the pumpkin mousse. Everything was good!! Definitely will be back!! read more

We came here on a busy holiday (Christmas) for dinner and were wowed by the food, cocktails, and service. | Food | - 5 stars: bread service with whipped butter, extra virgin olive oil, and caviar tapenade. The bread was so fresh, as was the olive oil. The herb butter was like magic (and I don't usually rave about butter). - 5 stars: the arugula and anchovy salad. The lemon-caper dressing elevated this simple salad into a mouth-watering palate starter. - 3 stars: the gnocchi was overdone but had good flavor. | Cocktails | - 5 stars: S.S. Georgie. Their take on an Old Fashioned, with bourbon, creme de cacao, cinnamon and black walnut bitters. This was luxurious sipping cocktail. - 5 stars: Blackjack in Monte Carlo. If you are a gin lover this is the cocktail for you! With gin, fernet, amaro, pink peppercorn and star anise bitters. The description on their menu perfectly describes it as "herbaceous, botanical and balanced". | Service | The friendly and efficient service by Dymond, on a super busy evening, made this a 5-star overall experience. Drinks: Le Diable, sazerac, and holy roller IPA Food: arugula & Anchovy salad, oysters, caviar & crème fraiche, Service: Jade ask for her by name if you can. The diable is spicy and delicious. Fruity and priced at $19 The caviar & crème fraiche is mostly crème fraiche you can add extra caviar but the chips taste burnt. $55 for 1oz of caviar Arugula salad was amazing. Crispy and the fried anchovies were a perfect addition. Definitely order again. The oysters were good but basic. If you live oysters you'll like them. Tried a baked oyster and it was delicious. Overall this bar has a great cocktail menu but the food is hit or miss. read more

Despite the low reviews which I'm gonna guess are outdated, my husband and I loved it here. For dinner, we ordered the chef recommendation which was a three course dinner. It was so yummy we were practically licking the plate. My husband had the steak and I had scallops. Sooo yummy! The anchovy arugula salad must have! The dessert we had was crème brûlée and cheesecake and it was also gone. The next day, we had breakfast and the crawfish beignets were to die for because of the crab fat aioli. The oyster BLT was also unforgettable. Thank you to our server, Maria, who kept us cared for with her service, warm smile and conversations. Highly recommend this place in NOLA! read more
