Wowza!!! Party of eight accommodated at 9:00 on a Sunday night without any problem. Seated near kitchen which was right where I wanted to be to watch the magic with the open view. All the pastas were freshly made and deliciouso! The star of the meal was that focaccia. It started out as just something for us to nibble but became clear that everyone in our group was looking for more so we ordered seconds. Also had a couple orders of meatballs for the table, tasty nuggets! Only one person in our party ordered something other than pasta (duck) and she wasn't particularly happy with it. I tried it, thought it was ok but I chalked it up as just not something to order at an Italian restaurant.

Brutto Americano provided an excellent lunch service for our large party. The staff was attentive, precise, and knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed the ambiance, especially seated near the kitchen. I tried the roasted oysters and focaccia to start, which did not disappoint. As an entree, I tried the radiatori with blue crab, basil, and jalapenos. The blue crab was plentiful and I was not disappointed. It was not very spicy, as I did expect more flavor from the jalapenos. This was a great lunch option downtown; however, I did wish the menu had more options.

Very cute place and great service. The food was mostly good though there was stuff I would probably change about most of it. The Gemelli was AMAZING flavor wise but the noodles were a little undercooked (not al dente) the steak tartar could have used a little more flavor. Loved the rigatoni but not for anyone who doesn't like a little spice. The Burrata was good. Cannoli was good. Would rate a 3.5/4

I had very high expectations based on other reviews, the pricing, and the size of the menu. I prefer Italian over all other cuisine, so I will also admit that I have above average standards for pasta and other Italian dishes. The service was okay. I was with a large group, I got the level of service I expected. One standout was a random staff member coming over to welcome us to the city, which was fantastic. We took one of his recommendations for our evening out and it was also fabulous. Other service included waiting a while to get drink refills, which was rather annoying when my drink was majority alcohol. I wasn't complaining about a heavy pour, but I asked for some additional soda to help with the strength, waited 10 minutes for it and got charged an additional $4. The restaurant was mostly empty other than a few diners that were finishing their meals, around 7:30pm. The food was good. However, it wasn't what the price tag should've delivered. My first gripe was that everything was either labeled spicy or included a protein. I don't hate spice, just don't want it to overpower. I asked the server what he recommended for someone with a lower spice tolerance. He asked me to tell him what I was considering, so I said the vodka pasta, and bolognese. He told me they could leave some of the spice out of the vodka pasta, but that it was in the sauce itself already. He suggested the bolognese. The bolognese while flavorful was one of the spiciest things I've ever eaten. Not labeled as spicy at all on the menu and suggested as a low spice level by staff. I tried a friend's vodka pasta and it was by far less spicy. The focaccia was grilled with butter, reminded me of a grilled cheese from a diner, Texas toast-like. Definitely not what I was expecting for $10...also a butter came with the 2 slices that were cut into 4 triangles, it was ALSO spicy and not labeled as such. Focaccia shouldn't be easily confused with Texas toast...I'd skip that. I'd skip it. It wasn't awful, but much better options are available in New Orleans.

An amazing restaurant riding the heart of the warehouse District in New Orleans. Great vibe and great atmosphere. We came for jazz fast and really enjoyed it.

I like Costera & LOVE Osteria Lupo so I had a feeling Brutto wouldn't let me down. I've always loved the space even before it was Brutto. It's so open and I like looking back into the kitchen area. The service was stellar. The drinks were good. Got the oysters as an app and that was my only low note because they seemed to be somewhere in between cooked and raw so the texture was quite off-putting. The flavor was there though. The steak was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and the chimichurri was delish. By far, my favorite part of the meal was the Gemelli pasta. It's got roasted duck, rosemary, and lemon. The duck was succulent and flavorful and moist. The rosemary and lemon were perfectly balanced. It was just delicious. I was thinking about it long after I left lol. Definitely want to come back and try brunch now.

So we decided to try this place coz the streets around our hotel were blocked off and getting to our restaurant of choice would take too long. Bianca was our server, and she did an excellent job, but she was the only waitress on site! Food was good, and we would probably return... but definitely could have used better attentiveness. It was not the server's fault though due to the lack of service staff. Happy hour pricing on drinks was a nice surprise!

The homemade pasta was really delicious. I wish the crab raditore had a bit more crab in it.. it was pretty scarce. The anchovy butter was a no go for me. It looked like it should have way more flavor with its red color, but it was really just a salty butter. The hanger streak and chimi were delicious and cooked perfectly. Service was mid. The space is really beautiful but it's so large that there isn't much ambiance.

    Burrata con Panna. Amazing!

Brought to you by the team behind Costera & Osteria Lupe, Brutto Americano is situated inside the Barnett Hotel (formerly, The Ace). This new addition to the neighborhood is a place where classic Italian dishes meld with the bold, diverse flavors of New Orleans cuisine with an emphasis on house made pasta dishes and fresh gulf seafood. The name translates to Ugly American. However, there is nothing ugly about it. The art deco decor is lovely, and the staff are too! A darling Monique greeted me when I arrived. She had amazing energy, great style, and a wonderful personality. She escorted me to a table near the window and shortly after Israel came by to take my order. He was also very personable and sweet. I wasn't very hungry but wanted to try the food. He recommended the Burrata con Panna. I also ordered a cocktail - Velvet & Vine, which was comprised of blackberry, maraschino, lemon, & Prosecco. It was delicious & refreshing. The Burrata did not disappoint! The cheese was buttery soft, and inside was a creamy delight. It was on a bed of pesto made from pistachios, mint, & Serrano. OMG! That pesto was gasmic! I'm still dreaming about it. The toasted house made focaccia was also good. The combo of all three together was fantastic! Bravo Chef Brian Burns! My dining experience here was wonderful. I will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Don't really know how to feel about this spot! First off, the restaurant itself is beautiful. It is so spacious with gorgeous lighting and decor. But, the vibe was ruined by the choice of music. The top pop hits from the radio were playing, which to me was not classy at all. It felt like I was at a local chicken joint or something. Instrumental would've been a nice touch. We first started off with some drinks and the Amalfi Vice was probably my favorite thing of the night! It was delicious. We had the meatballs as a starter which were good, but I wasn't the most impressed. I originally wanted the Rigatoni as my entree, but our waiter informed us that it is very spicy. He said most people end up not liking the spice level. So I was grateful he mentioned that, and pivoted to the Pappardelle. I really enjoyed the Pappardelle! I would like to see some changes before I came back, but willing to give it another try!

The food came out super fast and was delicious. We asked probably too many questions to our waiter about the menu and he answered them all perfectly. He also explained the dishes we got so we knew what we were eating.

    Rigatoni

Overall it was a decent experience & I would try again. I had the mafalde prosciutto pasta, which was delicious, my friend had the rigatoni - it was well cooked & a beautiful dish, however it was SPICY. So spicy she couldn't finish her dish. The ambiance was amazing, truly 10/10! The service however was not great - our waiter wasn't particularly rude, but it was very evident he was ready for closing time to come & didn't seem to go out of his way to earn a pretty tip. If it weren't for the overly spicy rigatoni & poor attitude of the waiter I would say 5 stars. *also no gluten free pasta available which was a bummer for me as i try to eat gluten free

    The sazerac was amazing!

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. Overall, the experience was average and did not fully meet those expectations. The charcuterie and cheese board, priced at $68, was underwhelming in both portion size and value. It included only six thin slices of cured meat and a small selection of cheeses. Unfortunately, one of the cheeses had an unpleasant flavor that made it inedible for our table. The bread service was a highlight, offering a nice variety of breads and accompaniments. The ribeye was cooked well and enjoyable, but it did not stand out from what I've experienced at other upscale steakhouses. The five-cheese couscous was the biggest disappointment, as it lacked the rich, flavorful profile its description suggested. While the service and presentation were appreciated, the overall dining experience did not justify the high expectations or the price point.

The crawfish beignets are more like hush puppies though so keep that in mind! The regular beignets had a good flasky crust to them and were so pillowy. I would definitely come back to try their dinner menu!
