It was a flight of fancy that drove my coworker and I to dine at the infamous location known as "King Buffet". Blissfully unaware were we of the dismal reviews seen here on Yelp. We called the "restaurant" (if that word may be degraded down to that level) and inquired how much the dining experience was. The swift reply came: "$17.99". Delighted at such a reasonable price, we made the decision to feast. How wrong were we, O Lord, how wrong were we! The empty parking lot (3 cars in a rather large parking lot) and the blue tarpaulins covering strange, lumpy protuberances on the front porch should have been a warning (like the bright stripes on a venomous snake). Undaunted and having an appetite fit for a king, we passed by the sickly koifish and generally unkempt front porch and entered the establishment. The "lobby" was simply a gate to prevent the non-paying public from gazing upon the man-made horrors beyond. After being charged 22 United States Dollars and eight cents, we were allowed entry into the museum of rancidity. We were sat down at a sticky table right in front of another patron by the non-English-speaking server, and were forced to gaze at the condiments which had surely been sitting there since Chi'en Lung gained the crown. The first trip through the stations of suffering yielded various delicacies such as: yellow-fever food-colored fried rice with desiccated peas; gray, room-temperature tuna sushi; room-temperature cream "crab" rangoons; cold meat dumplings with the taste and texture of human excrement, among other frightful "foods". The next two trips yielded smaller and even more disgusting portions. The fried plantain was not even partially edible, and the Mongolian beef was icy cold, and had the taste of a chunk of flesh found in the gullet of a dying bear. The sushi was tried again, to our great regret. Our dismay at eating possibly week-old, stale, discolored fish was only topped by the "hot and sour soup". My compatriot almost met his end at the knurled hands of this abomination. The flavor profile could be described as battery acid carefully simmered with a long-expired rat. Dessert: the final adversary. A sea of off-brand Jello (I have never tasted Jello that was too dense, but King Buffet had another trick up its sleeve) met our eyes; bananas strangely baptized in an unholy red concoction; blue-colored "mint" whipped cream(?); soft-serve ice cream from a machine clearly not cleaned since the birth of the new millennium; and vanilla pudding that was actually spoiled. I am not quite sure how long that takes, but King Buffet was the perfect breeding ground for such a rare occurrence. The shining star of the dessert table was the octopus salad. I had to taste it for the sake of science (and possibly the coroner). It did not disappoint in terms of inedibility. It was if I was eating raw rubber dipped in pepper oil. Tasty. The atmosphere could warrant a separate post. A distinct, sickly cough could be heard in the kitchen(!), a hacking, phlegmatic cough that proverbially shivered our timbers. "Workers" were having long, loud conversations in Mandarin no more than two feet from my head. Leaning on our booth while doing so seemed to be a house specialty. The lack of customers was also notable. In the house of the King, he seemed to have no guests dining at his table. For most of our captivity, we were the sole serfs seeking succor from the Poop Deity (for that was in sooth the true identity of the King). The aftereffects of our experiences would be too vile to put on Yelp, but rest assured that what went in, came out. Needless to say, we were changed. Altered. Different than when we were. We were mere infants in the realm of the Defecation Emperor. We have now experienced the Reckoning that is King Buffet: the Whorehouse of Buffets, the fine dining experience of Hell itself. Be warned, thou who seeks to sate thy hunger in the embraces of King Buffet. He who embraces you is a liar, a daemon, an incubus of Sino-cuisine. read more

I went to the bathroom & could not get out of there fast enough, it had a horrible odor. Food was horrible. The rice on the sushi smelled funny, the egg drop soup had grey eggs in it, the garlic bread was hard as a rock, honey chicken was dry, wonton soup was so salty I couldn't eat it & there were fruit flies all over the soy sauce container by the sushi. My daughter said the banana pudding was the best thing there & she wasn't wrong. This was my first and last time eating here. Just gross! Save your money. read more

They are cheating on the weight and over charging intentionally on the food to go. Informed the worker (who was rude) and asked for an explanation of why he overcharged me. Worker could not give an explanation and was overly defensive about being caught and confronted. Then the quality of the food was not the best, I'd recommend another restaurant. read more

I came in with my kids and usually the food is good, but I'm upset with this visit. We came in an hour or so before close and I can understand most of the food no longer being hot, but before we were finished eating one of the ladies servicing us dropped fortune cookies on the table and said thank you. I felt like they were rushing us out. They also started mopping around us before close time, which made the whole room smell like dirty mop water, and my toddler daughter slipped on our way out. If you want to leave at a certain time, you should close earlier and give yourself time to clean up AFTER the guests leave. Also, my 2 year old son was speaking a little loud, but the area they put us in was mostly empty and it echoed. One of the ladies that took our plates kept looking around the corner to stare at my son for his volume. I did not have a good experience this go round & will not be back. read more

Horrible. Would have rated 0/5 if I could. I have NEVER written a yelp review because I've never felt the need to. But this is sad. I have never had a bad buffet experience, this was a first. Food was surprisingly cold. Stone cold. The only warm things were the dumplings, and that's because they were in warm water! I am a sushi fanatic, I absolutely love everything to do with sushi. The sushi here was soggy, old, stale, and rancid. The avocado was brown and the seaweed was brown as well. I included pictures of that. I usually love orange chicken, the orange chicken here was soggy, the skin falling off and very spongy. The service was okay, they took the plates when we were done. The thing I did not like about the service was whenever I was trying to find the best way to eat my COLD crab, one of the lady workers came up to me and started touching all over my crab! I do believe that she was trying to help me, but why would anyone walk up to someone and touch their food un-consensually??? And on top of her touching my crab, once I got it open, it was mushy on the inside and smelt unbearable! I have eaten crab a million times before, this crab was rancid. I also included pictures of the crab. And the ambiance was fine, nice music. I'm trying to try to make myself feel better about spending, actually WASTING $45. When I got my first plate, I realized why they made me pay before we started eating. Cold, disgusting food. And they included a 10% gratuity for themselves on the bill. These people have the nerve to have three excellent "reviews" which are obviously fake on their website!! And you can't even add a review!! The food is the worst Chinese food I have ever experienced in my life. Most of it is reheated or spoiled and some of the dishes smelled bad which I steered clear from. I called and asked to speak to a manager and one was not available. But the person said (anyway) I should've called the same day to get my money back or before I left that day I dined. Even the most avid of buffet lovers might end up finding disappointment in King Buffet, which is one of the more well known Chinese buffets in BR. I know a steady stream of locals have been coming here for the last few years, but something tells me that a lot has changed as of late. I'm not saying things have gotten worse, but I can certainly say they could be a lot better. Some folks will debate that presentation doesn't matter for buffets, but I would beg to differ. People will only take stuff of which they can visually appreciate, with hopes that looks will match the taste. With that notion, the food here looks pretty abysmal. Seafood is quite abundant, but very little of it seems appealing. The sushi is almost laughable from a presentation standpoint, but clearly poor in quality. Much of the hot food is the same: standard variety but visually unappetizing. The wait staff could probably use a pep talk, but I think service becomes less of an issue when most people are really serving themselves. Most buffets would pride themselves on being a good deal, but when it comes to King Buffet I'm really not so sure. No one should have to pay a lot for subpar food, even in abundance. On a positive note, this place has lots of parking. There is almost always seating, even on the weekends. They also do a good bit of catering as well, which I've found to be the most redeeming quality of all. The latter is the only reason I haven't put them in 1 star range. read more

If you're reading these yelp reviews and worried about coming to this place, I'm here to tell you that they're all a little extra ... we came here after leaving blue bayou and the food is pretty good. There was a lot of people here but still fast and decent service. Some of the food was less warm that others sure but it wasn't ice cold like the reviews made it out to be. There was steam coming off the food whenever we got here. If you're craving Chinese and want to go to a buffet and this is near by, I recommend. I ordered delivery through uber eats and i was actually pleasantly surprised. The food overall was enjoyable. I ordered egg rolls, general tso's chicken, lo mein, beef with broccoli and fried rice. The general tso's and the egg rolls were quite hard and not too tasty. Everything else tasted pretty good. They get 3 stars since 2/5 dishes were sub-par. I always pass in front this place and was curious to come in. When you go in side you see a lot of mess up of boxes of stuffs near the tables, it looks like you are eating in the storage or the storage are where you eat.. Nothing organized, really a mess. My suggestion is close this area with a dry wall or change the place of it.
