Golden corral buffet & grill review | Baton Rouge, La

Golden Corral Buffet & Grill Review | Baton Rouge, La 3 out of 5 Stars If you're in the Baton Rouge area and looking for an early morning buffet option, Golden Corral Buffet & Grill definitely gets points for convenience -- doors open bright and early at 8 AM, which is rare for buffet spots. The location is easy to access, and the staff was friendly, which always sets a welcoming tone when you walk in. As for the food, it was just okay -- not bad, but definitely room for improvement. The price was about average for buffet dining, which makes it a decent stop if you're not trying to break the bank. However, there were some clear downsides. The food selection felt smaller compared to other Golden Corral locations, which was a bit disappointing if you're expecting that "endless options" vibe. Some dishes were overly salty, and one major red flag -- dirty plates. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cleanliness matters a lot, especially at a buffet, and this definitely took away from the overall experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, this Baton Rouge Golden Corral lands at 3 out of 5 stars. It's convenient and friendly, but it needs more attention to food variety, seasoning balance, and cleanliness to truly stand out. 13606 Millerville Greens Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70816 (225) 960-1135 Check us out Tik tok @we_stayed_there, online: www.westayedthere.com, YouTube @westayedthere

When I was growing up, Golden Corral was my family's favorite restaurant. Hipsters may find it appalling, but for $9.84, I just had an extremely satisfying breakfast. I know that Golden Corral is the butt of many jokes, but if you are looking for a great breakfast, look no further than the new Golden Corral on Millerville. It isn't busy, so the service is exceptional. The cost is unbelievably cheap. My $9.84 total included a non-pretentious cup of coffee- probably Folgers. The eggs were moist and fresh, the bacon was thick and crispy, and they had some really interesting sides. For example, they had some pan fried scalloped potatoes with onions that were on point. Want tacos at 7:30 a.m.? They got 'em. Fried pork chops? Check! Full dessert bar in the a.m.? Yep! Italian? Yep! Is this breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Yes! While all the hipsters are sleeping off their hangovers from overpriced drinks at Radiobar, you should make your way to the Golden Corral. This morning before I left, I looked around at the other folks that were dining, and they all looked happy... elated even. And full. And there ain't nothing wrong with that!

I went for the lunch buffet for $13.99 and feel like the BR location def has more options than the NOLA location (I haven't been to that spot in over a year though). There are some seafood options during lunch (salt and pepper crab, salmon, assortment of fish, and mussels) but if you want a wider variety, dinner is the way to go. I didn't try the sushi because the majority of them were always wiped out but the chefs in the back were doing their best to replenish whenever they could. Nothing to extraordinary with the sushi, I feel like you could get most of em at the grocery store. My favs at lunch were hands down the salmon and the baked mussels w cheese on top. The salmon was SEASONED SO WELL and I just kept going back for more. The mussels and cheese was def a hit too bc I could see the chefs restock every so often. There's unlimited boba (not included in the buffet) and I had the mango, which tasted watered down to me. The ice cream was amazing, got a mix of the taro and mango. The cakes were extremely dry and the mousse was the only thing saving it from totally crumbling in my mouth. For the most part, the food was piping hot, but there were a few options that were cold when I ate them, hence the 4 stars. The staff were incredibly sweet and would clean tables immediately after someone would leave.

The crawfish were flavorful, seasoned well, and priced right, which is honestly the perfect combination when you're sitting down ready to eat. They had that messy, not really spicy, addictive quality that keeps you reaching for "just one more" until the tray is empty. I also tried the buffalo wings. They weren't that great, if I'm being honest, but I was hungry so they got the job done. The crawfish are clearly the star of the show here anyway. The atmosphere felt relaxed and unpretentious, exactly the kind of place you want for seafood with friends, cold drinks, and a table full of shells piling up by the minute. If you're wondering whether I'll be back, I already have.

I have been here several times and it is one of my favorite restaurants in Baton Rouge for great flavorful food. The food was amazing and great. For an appetizer, I had a dozen of their chargrilled oysters. You can see the smoke and smell them cooking them on the way in. They have this amazing butter sauce packed with tons of flavor and it is served with their French bread to soak up that butter! Some other appetizers we got were their fried eggplant with marinara sauce and their buffalo wings which are so good. For my main entree, I got their blackened shrimp pasta which was seasoned well and came with garlic bread. My twin got their hamburger steak and it was delicious. Some drinks I got for the night were their old fashioned and their Long Island iced tea. The ambiance is nice and perfect for a family outing or to celebrate graduation in my case. This will always be a restaurant I will coming back to. The service was great and Chance was amazing the entire time accommodating our large party! Thanks so much.

First things, it had at least two. an accessible parking areas for my daughters power chair access. Awesome. And the waitstaff were so pleasant to deal with. First fish, shrimp tacos. I have to admit I was skeptical but CC nailed it. Three generous soft shelled tortillas with 4+ shrimp, multi colored bells, salad, etc. were delicious. I was even more skeptical of the sweetened/spicy syrup that came with them but whoa, perfect combo on the tacos. The side was yellow rice with black beans and pico. Decent. Second dish, Epplant Supreme. Breaded, baked eggplant with well spice shrimp over a bed of thin pasta. Piece of buttered bread and a small side salad. My daughter loved it. I tried one of the shrimp and it was really good. Overall 4/5, edging towards a 5. Well pleased with the dinner and the price.

The sandwiches were fresh and packed with flavor, the pot pies were rich, creamy, and pure comfort food, and the appetizers were the perfect start to the meal. The whipped Parmesan mashed potatoes deserve their own standing ovation. They were unbelievably creamy, cheesy, and easily some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. Expected a wait, 20 minutes, no problem! Another 15 to place our order, and another 25 to receive our food. We were there over an hour before we got any food. Ooffff... it's fine. We're laid back and can roll with the punches-they're busy and staff was friendly-it'll all be worth it when the food rocks our socks. Sadly...no. Both grilled cheeses (entrees) were room temp and the cheese was already hardening. It felt as if they had forgotten to deliver the food. Waitress was so kind and took the one off our check. It was appreciated. Boudin balls were great!! Bedford and remoulade sauces were okay. Parmesan potatoes were good!! Brussel sprouts and fries were fine-would have been better if served hot, I think. We did the pie flight and they were all good. Not mind blowing, but good. I always give out second chances-public service and food service is tough and sometimes you just have off days. Worth checking out if you live in town!! But if you're just passing through, maybe just get some pie to go.

Food was delicious and all delivered within minutes of one another (no one was stuck waiting for long). Burger was cooked to perfection and not TOO hot. I hate when food is so hot in temperature that you can't take a bite. The chocolate cake was good, but the whip cream tasted kinda fake/oily. The cake itself was medium density and had a slightly salted finish. It paired perfectly with the frosting which was very rich and extra sweet. A delightful pairing. For my drink, plus a double shot of whiskey, the burger and dessert, it came to just over $100. That feels expensive. Take that as you will. I wouldn't return mostly due to price.
