I haven't been to a golden coral in years. Probably 8-10 years, easily. I believe my last trip was a mid day drop in and that experience was enough to keep me away. It was so long ago, it was at the old location on coursey Blvd. This visit was a late lunch 12:45pm arrival. All Of the food was fresh and hot. Not just the food we ate, but all of it. None of the rice looked dried out. All of the veggies were plump and crisp. The meats looked fresh and juicy. I had bourbon chicken, fried chicken , fried fish, baked beans, rice, yellow rice, sweet potato's/yams, broccoli and corn. Everything I ate was great. Food taste is other side of the family grandma kitchen quality. Not Meemaw cooking but Gram gram's. It's the food you like, but not the food you'll Love. And that's no insult. The food was good! This was our first time back here since the Fall(2018) before the PANDEMIC. We enjoyed the Fried Chicken & the Fried Shrimp the most. WELL DONE! I was amazed at how well the Veterans Day dinner was handled compared to other years at the Millerville location. Whatever changed, keep it up! The only Problem I saw, I don't think can be fixed. There was a line all the way across the parking lot waiting to get in, in the first rain we had all summer. The only solution I see to that is maybe do like another steak place in town and give out vouchers to come back another night or have a two night deal. I visited Golden Corral on Millerville Rd. In Baton Rouge for a late lunch with a coworker and his daughter. My coworker and I had not been to Golden Corral in many years and his 16 year old daughter had never been. My coworker and I really enjoyed the pot roast. He also liked the clam chowder. His daughter liked the quesadillas, fried chicken, and shrimp. The dessert options were numerous and delicious and the salad bar options were seemingly endless along with fresh fruit choices. I watched the employees wash and cut fresh fruit and vegetables. What place allows one to witness that? Some of the other entree and sides choices we all agreed were bland probably because of the wide variety of health and taste preferences. The consensus was Golden Corral was worth visiting again for the choice volume and for a nutritionally balanced meal for a reasonable price. Our waitress was attentive and amicable and the restaurant was clean. Additionally, if you download their app there are rewards and discounts which helps in the wallet. When I was growing up, Golden Corral was my family's favorite restaurant. Hipsters may find it appalling, but for $9.84, I just had an extremely satisfying breakfast. I know that Golden Corral is the butt of many jokes, but if you are looking for a great breakfast, look no further than the new Golden Corral on Millerville. It isn't busy, so the service is exceptional. The cost is unbelievably cheap. My $9.84 total included a non-pretentious cup of coffee- probably Folgers. The eggs were moist and fresh, the bacon was thick and crispy, and they had some really interesting sides. For example, they had some pan fried scalloped potatoes with onions that were on point. Want tacos at 7:30 a.m.? They got 'em. Fried pork chops? Check! Full dessert bar in the a.m.? Yep! Italian? Yep! Is this breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Yes! While all the hipsters are sleeping off their hangovers from overpriced drinks at Radiobar, you should make your way to the Golden Corral. This morning before I left, I looked around at the other folks that were dining, and they all looked happy... elated even. And full. And there ain't nothing wrong with that! read more

I'm done having dinners here. Once we sat down, the only thing appetizing were the rolls. They were nice, warm and buttery. The fried chicken was dry and over cooked. The person cooking the steaks looked like he just didn't want to be there. Our waitress literally did nothing but say hey, introduce herself and cleared the table after we left. I felt bad for her. She looked so tired and I overheard her talking to herself, saying how thankful she was the day was almost over. I've heard good things about the breakfasts. I will give that a try. I'm going to go three stars. It's a buffet. There's nothing fancy here. For the price you can go to an actual restaurant and order. We haven't been since before the built this one. It's as clean as they can keep it. I was bothered by all the folks who do t know the difference between all you can eat and all you can carry. This is a great place for the calorically uninhibited. I really did like the salad bar. I liked that there are a big bunch of options to eat, big bunch of deserts all you can drink too. Our server was by the table often enough. I visited this Golden Corral to celebrate Christmas with my large family! This location is conveniently located off of Millerville Road and is near other restaurants and shops like Target, Best Buy and Lowe's. The parking is ample and the restaurant itself is pretty large. Because my family is quite a large group, we took up the whole private room in the back. The staff was helpful in setting up tables how my grandmother wanted them and accommodating such a large group. Additionally, the staff consistently checked in to take away used plates and refill drinks. As for the food, overall it was good, not spectacular. It was a pretty busy night, so I had to make a few trips to the buffet to get all that I was looking for. However, there are plenty options, as is standard with a buffet, so you are sure to find some items to make a good meal! The only vegan option I saw was the tofu at the salad bar, but plenty of veggies all around. At one point, some of us ventured to grab some plates from the stack and they were still wet from being washed, the staff was helpful and dried the plates and got us some clean ones to get our meal. The restrooms were a hot mess, so I recommend not using the restroom until you get home. This was honestly one of the worst places i've ever eaten, and i have been all around the bad baton rouge restaurants. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we first walked in i smelled a bleach smell but it also smelled nasty as if the bleach smell was to cover the bad smell.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When we walked to go find our seats we were greeted by our server, Darren. Darren immediately got us our drinks and was very sweet the entire time we were there, this review isn't about the service but the food and the place. I wish i would have taken pictures but the smell in there just smelled of dirty air and when we went to look at the food the variety was extremely small and did not look appetizing. I had a slice of steak, a slice of blackberry pie, a slice of strawberry shortcake, cherry jello, and some of the strawberry shortcake icee. The steak was tough as if it was not cooked right, fully pink/red on the inside but dark on the outside, it tasted great but i felt like a dog chewing on a bone or as if i was chewing on a piece of fat. The blackberry pie tasted like dirt, I'm not sure if thats how it was supposed to taste but it was not sweet at all and tasted like it bit out of a bush. The slice of strawberry shortcake i had was probably one of the only okay things i had while i was there, it was sweet and had a good strawberry flavor going but with the whip cream on top you could tell it was sitting there a while. I'm not a fan of cherry jello so i cant say much about it but the flavor was too strong for me. Lastly i had the strawberry icee before we left and i had a very strong taste of metal in it, i tried to see if maybe it was the utensil i was using but when i tasted it without the utensil it tasted just as bad. I'm extremely dissatisfied with this visit and even more upset that we paid $101 for an all you can eat buffet and we did not enjoy what we ate or get full at all. My family and I decided to dine with this restaurant for a inexpensive evening meal. We arrived about 5 our normal dinner time. The salad and fruit bar was clean and well stocked. The entree bar with the different meats and sides was either non existent, old or just dried out. There was new food being prepared but they were no attempts being made to put it out. They were either eating it themselves or packing it away. I fixed my son some macaroni and it was dry and crunchy. The spaghetti noodles were obviously old and dried out. We hung around for a while trying to find something he would eat. Settled on some shredded cheese and chopped ham. I decided to get a piece of fried chicken. They only had large pieces in the pan. There was a cook nearby and I asked if they were any small pieces. I was told they would fry some soon. Mind you I was looking at some sitting in the basket ( guess they were saving it for themselves). The server was very quiet and didn't come around much, but I think he did his best. I believe he was responsible for the entire side of the restaurant we were on.The rest of the experience was pretty much the same. We paid $13.99 each for the adult meals and $4.99 each for the kids meals. We dined today on a Thursday. The price was not worth the quality. read more

I normally wouldn't get all fired up over GC but this one wowed me. Maybe it's because I had driven all the way from Dallas and I was loopy and hungry. I dunno, but I walked in and was instantly impressed with the decor and the look of the buffet tables. The signage is neat and unlike the GC in my hood. I actually didn't notice a bad smell that most GC's are famous for. They have a bread station so you can get as many warm, hot, doughy rolls as you want without having to wait for a server to bring them to you. They even offer other bread options too if you want more than a roll. There were so many food options that my group couldn't even make a dent in all that was available. I especially liked the plate stands where you could get your own plates instead of waiting for a server to load up the table with more plates. We went for a late lunch and ended up witnessing the lunch/dinner cross over. Of course we were too full to stuff ourselves with the new dinner entrees that were brought out. Thought I was going to have a relaxing day with family turned out to be the most horrible experience I ever encountered. When I got to golden corral In BatonRouge it was very busy. He says ma'am do you have any available tables. Her response was on the other side of the restaurant. We didn't thin nothing of it so we headed to the other side of the restaurant to find no tables available on that side as well. So we went back to the side we previously was on hoping a table became available . Sure nuff when there it was a clean table in the young lady section her name was Daisy. We she noticed it was us back in her section at her table, her attitude turned sour. She asked what are your drinks. I said a kids lemonade, kids fruit punch, adult sweet tea, Dr Pepper and one water. She says a water for the kid and 1 fruit punch and I repeated no it's cuz. At this time she says give me your ticket meanwhile huffing and puffing and making all sorts of angry looking faces like we had done her something. She stormed off and lo and behold came back still with the wrong order. Now I'm speaking to my daughter and husband asking them did you just see what I saw and heard what I heard, they said yea seem like she did not want to serve us. She walks up and said you want another waiter, I said I do if you feel like you don't want to wait on us. She replies as she walking off Already getting somebody else anyways. While I am eating a noticed a empty table next to us , that had plates on it for a while everybody pass by this tables and the waiter Daisy neglected to clean them off. A african american elderly lady with her husband and 3 small children asked her about the table, she did to them the same thing she did to us. Pointed them into the direction of the other side of the restaurant. I saw them walk over there and did the same thing I had done came right back watching that dirty table in hopes someone would clean it off. She had to been standing there at least 15 minutes. Then a Caucasian women and man walks up ask Daisy about the table she flew to clean it off and told them sybau could sit there. Well the women said No let them have it ( the African American family). Daisy respond oh no they can go over to the other side. Now the lady and the kids stood there longer waiting for Daisy to get somebody else to clean them off a table in another section. I watch her do the same thing when a Latino family came in her section, she ran to clean off a table and seat them . I thought wow her problem with us was we were African American. I nit from BatonRouge not do I live there. I have lived there that's how I know about golden Correl. The experience I had was awful and do not understand how people could sti after all these years still have hatred and racism in there heart. I pray for Mrs Daisy and ask God to forgive her, like I already have , but this shows me racism still exists.. Golden Correl pay more Attention to your employees behaviors they are the ones that sat the tone for your business.. It was absolutely awful. Everything was over salted to the point of inedible. The taco meat tasted like they dumped an entire pound of cumin into the hamburger slop. I'm not sure it was beef. Came in here for the first time for a family gathering...let me just say that this will unfortunately be the last time. Our party was on the bigger side so of course we had to wait to be seated. Let me just say, there were no good waiting spaces, especially if you have anyone in your party who needs special assistance (i.e. Wheel chairs or walkers). After some insistence from our party, we were finally seated. The food is mediocre at best...there wasn't one thing that really stuck out to me. I guess that's what happens at a buffet that offers so many different things. The table was dirty, although it appeared that someone actually tried to wipe it down.
