King Buffet keeps trying! For about the same price as a combo meal at McDs, you can fill up with a wide variety Chinese food at lunch or dinner. Lots of tasty veggies, noodles and chicken choices. Also some dim sum and sushi for good measure. Hot and sour or egg drop soup and an entire line of fresh cut fruit and desert choices. As with most buffets, in order to keep the food hot, it also sits a while a suffers a little. If you're a Chinese gourmet, pass by, otherwise it's good enough for Most of us. read more

This place COULD be good, but they need to focus on the details. Specifically, I ordered Salt & Pepper shrimp, and it arrived with the shrimp not deveined. This is lazy and a lack of detail. The sesame chicken was advertised as crispy, but arrived soggy and chewy. The sweet and sour chicken and pork fried rice were meh, but not enough to pull a 3 star review. I've eaten here about twice monthly since moving back to Bend September, 2023. Totally satisfied, look forward to unlimited future visits. FYI I'm a retired guy who loves traveling around the US generally and West of the Rockies in particular. Love Chinese buffets, have eaten at 100+ all prices and qualities. So I have a small clue about what to expect. Bend's King Buffet is an excellent example of a less fancy, less expensive restaurant. They serve a couple dozen typical items, no surprises. Lunch menu (until 2:00pm?) is a little more limited; dinner is a few dollars more and has more seafood. In my 70+ meals here I've never had a bad or cold dish, never had hair in my food, never seen rats or insects, never been poorly treated, never gotten sick, never have any of the problems insecure idiots and bigots often rant about when discussing Chinese buffets, trying to prove how cool they are. Maybe I'm just normal. No, its not quite as an expensive, high-quality, made to order Chinese restaurant. No it's not a 200 item Vegas buffet - no sweet and sour lobster, no sugar-dusted hummingbird wings. Many working people and families eat here and apparently enjoy it. I love good truckstop food and I - with the best intentions - compare King Buffet to a good quality truckstop restaurant. Lots of good, tasty, simple but good-quality food at a very reasonable price. Very sad. I have to feel sorry for the people that own and work at this restaurant. We went there for dinner at 5pm or so and there was only one other customer there. The price ($15-16) was okay but the food selection was awful. Every thing was dried out, overcooked, and very unappetizing. We left without ordering. read more

I should have read the reviews first but we were starving and ordered at the King Buffet which came up first when we searched for Chinese food. Chicken was like rubber I had mild food poisoning symptoms and overall even though we ordered take out I think they just took it from the buffet which had been sitting forever. The kids were so excited about a buffet it was hard to just up and walk away but they ate som French fries and orange chicken then paid for it later... The people.... wellllll we will just say I kept a more close of an eye on my kids then normal. Staff was ok but I really don't see how you can be a bad service provider at a buffet. We were at Bend downtown looking for restaurants after July 4th weekend. There was absolutely nothing available. We were a party of 12 with 5 kids. The kids were getting hungry and restless and we really weren't sure what to do. I decided to look for Chinese place. We all decided to take a chance and try this place out. As most of us were vegetarians, we didn't do buffet and just ordered aka carte. The server who helped us was so nice and helpful. She suggested on portion size and stopped us from over ordering. She suggested ordering more if it wasn't adequate. All of us loved the food and kids wanted to go back to that place on other days when we suggested eating out. I was in bend today for some personal errands, and I'd never really been past Detroit, so not only was I in an unknown city, I was also hungry and decided to stop here with my family. It was getting late and this is the place we decided to stop at. We LOVE Chinese buffets, so we figured why not. Upon entering the establishment, I was disappointed at their display of food, it looked unappetizing and dull in color as well, (yuck!), not only that but there was nobody else in the place at all! That and the initial rating from the map should of have stopped me but I was positive and wanted to give it a try. But boy was I wrong for that one. Drinks where practically water, the food was absolutely disgusting, the chow mein was chewy, the teriyaki chicken had parts of the skin on and while usually I don't mind, it was rubbery. The salmon was so dry, good lord! I only ended up having that one plate, and leaving. Never will I be returning to this restaurant. I am now home, and on my toilet feeling like a sick dog. I was looking for Chinese food to celebrate my late grandma's birthday as it was something we frequently ate together. I didn't have the buffet but placed an order online for shrimp egg foo young, shrimp egg rolls, hot and sour soup and a veggie/rice dish. It was easy to order online, and my order was done in about 10 minutes. The woman at the cash register was friendly, asking if I needed chopsticks and giving me lots of extra sauce packets. Everything was still quite hot by the time I got home. Sauces for dishes were packaged separately so nothing got soggy. Portions are large and everything was good. For around $10 it's a great place to stop by on a road trip. Good variety and it has been different time. But what they do have tastes good. Especially for the price. There are options that are not Asian like cup cakes. I would agree with other reviews about cleanliness. I will eat a sandwich at home next time. You can also do take out box from the buffet if you don't want to order a lunch or dinner combo from menu. I cautiously met my cousin here for lunch yesterday. After the reviews I was u,sure of recommending we meet here but he loves Chinese food and a bargain. Good choice! The atmosphere is nice, friendly people, lots of customers but not loud or over crowded. Our favorites that we back for seconds on...the salmon, salt and pepper shrimp, lo mein, sushi, spicy chicken and shrimp, and desserts. While waiting for an oil change, we decided to try this place next door. What do you expect when you pay $8.99 for a buffet consisting of 50 to 60 dishes? Yikes! Well, I got some noodles a spring roll, a vegetable stir fry a dumpling and a stuffed shrimp. I was able to eat the spring roll and the noodles thanks to soy sauce. Nothing had any flavor at all and everything was cold. This place would be smart to have about 10 delicious dishes instead of 60 disgusting dishes. This buffet is a remote Chinese Buffet. The food quality and variety was questionable, but the price was right. Good: Orange Chicken. I've never seen a Chinese restaurant mess this one up. Fried rice. There's no way to mess this up. Cheese Mussels, but very cheesy. The chicken kabob thing was good Fried Green beans. Mmm, I love fried green beans. Lychee was good, I love canned Lychee. The ice cream was surprisingly good. Tubs of ice cream of a few flavors is offered. Only problem was logistically scooping the ice cream, because the tubs moved. Washing the spoon was also a pain.. The Bad: I feared for my life with the sushi. The chow mein was chewy and starchier than I expected. These are the ones that stood out. I was impressed for a buffet. Lots to choose from. Very friendly staff, helpful, and courteous. The decor is about 30 years outdated but nice. They obviously cater to the white American as you are handed a fork and knife, and when asked for chopsticks I got wooden ones. Again good buffet but whitewashed for the area it's in. read more

Went here last night. Maybe it was not the freshest time for food to be out. Food was not fresh. It tasted so gross. I am sorry. I have been here at other times and it was ok. I just was not impressed. I took a few bites and was ready to leave. Not worth the 15.00 per person price. The selection was so slim. Nice people and hard working ladies.
