We came for the food, stayed for the show. It was delish! We had a larger party [7 people] and 3 have allergies. They made sure to accommodate, including cooking the allergen meals before the rest of the food. Great hibachi price, $20-30 for almost 3 course meal. This was my 'going away party' and they brought out an ice cream sundae at the end! I would definitely come back here again if I was not leaving town. *allergen friendly *easy to make reservations *$15-$35 per person *kind people

I've been coming to Okawa for years and it's always such a fun place for a special occasion. I love the hibachi here! You can't beat dinner and a show. Since I was the birthday girl this last time, I had my special saki in the mouth which is always fun. The best part is the flaming onion! The food is generously portions and delicious. I had the vegetable hibachi and it was amazing. My only suggestion would be to add a tofu option for more plant based options!

The seaweed salad tasted fresh and delicious, with generous portions making the prices fair. The fried tofu, however, had a strong fry flavor, suggesting the oil might have been overused. Seated at the bar near the kitchen, I noticed the smell of fried appetizers conquered...Having worked in greasy diners, sometimes adds flavor. The Salmon Negroni was petite, but the price was reasonable. The salmon was buttery and firm, which I prefer over a larger piece of yuck.

So much trouble that my men got hangry... naturally they called mom for assistance. Yelp led me to RBC, so I called to see if they could accommodate a last minute reservation. JoJo answered the phone and we laughed about how motherhood is never-ending (in a good way) and she managed to slot them into an immediate table. By the time they arrived, she had bread on the table and made them feel like VIPs (thank you lady!) Garrett came over as they were perusing the wine list and helped with selection (thank you sir!) & chatted with them for a good while. All three of them said it was the best meal they had on the trip, and my hubby told me this morning that he thinks it was the best restaurant he's ever been to & the most perfectly cooked steak! High praise indeed. They also shared (and loved) the escargot, salad with blue cheese, popovers, squid ink linguini, and the mixed grill. A lovely family-style experience. I was jealous from afar! Hubby has promised to take me back the next time we're in Bend (DMB?) and I am inordinately excited! Thanks again guys, you really turned their night around.

Exceptional! We brought a friend for his birthday because he wanted a great steak. They ordered the porterhouse because it would feed the 3 steak eaters and had the cuts they wanted. Unfortunately, despite the med rare order, the filet was well. The other side was med rare and tough, but for $90, you kind of expect perfection. What was perfect? Brioche popups, radicchio salad (I could eat this daily for the rest of my life), salmon (mouth is watering thinking about it), corn ribs (pretty good but I won't get them again). We shared the lava cake--perfection--and the butterscotch pudding cake. Cocktails and wine were sublime. I hate to withdraw a star, but a $90 steak should be perfection. We'll be back for sure! We love RBC!

The open kitchen is especially very cool to watch if you don't have anyone else to hang out with. The reason for the review rating, is just the quality of the food. The day before I went to RBC, and not only was it less money than this, it was much much better. This is absolutely not what I expected from a place that looks like this and cost this much. My steak was OK, but as I said, I got the same one at RBC and it blew this out of the water. Picking your knife is a cute little exercise, but after all that I would've expected my knife to at least be sharp enough to cut the steak the way I wanted it. But that's a silly thing to even get stuck on. What really bugged me was the brussels sprouts first off were just swimming in grease and sauce, they were intense, and I only had a couple spoonfuls. The other thing that really pushed this over the edge was the brisket Bao. That seemed like a cool idea, but the brisket itself was extremely basic and just in a formed square. The sauce tasted like just peanut and nothing else, and the bao itself was extremely dry. The bread service was probably my favorite part, that thing was really tasty and so was the butter. I can't remember what they said the butter specifically was, but it tasted like just butter, it wasn't special. This place just doesn't have the value for the cost for me at all with the other nice steakhouses around.

We were greeted by the host and seated quickly. We started our meal with a delicious non-alcoholic drink and the Chef's Board: a charcuterie with an assortment of cured meats, rustic bread, and various spreads. That came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, our main courses came out much, much later and lukewarm. Luckily, the food was good enough that it made up for the temperature. I had the NY strip steak. The steak and the Boursin mashed potatoes alone were very good. The pickled onions and chimichurri complemented the meat very well. The meal was supposed to include brussel sprouts but came with a grilled broccoli cauliflower assortment instead. My wife had the Scallop Risotto which was also a great recommendation from the server. In reality, The Hook & Plow deserved 3 1/2 stars but that's not an option on Yelp. Verdict: Zydeco is an outstanding restaurant in virtually every way. No negatives to report. The place is popular - arriving just before opening on a weekday, there was a line to get in. Reservations are definitely a good idea here. Our early arrival in line allowed us to choose a good table in the back, where it wouldn't be too hectic. That too was a good idea as the place gets loud with conversation when it fills up. Music wasn't loud, just the people. The menu isn't huge but there are quite a few, varied choices. Given the meal was a bit of a splurge for us, I essentially ignored the prices, which are not trivial by any means. Fine dining entails spending money. Zydeco has a ton of reviews and as the menu apparently doesn't change, I'll just say everything we ordered was great. Cocktails too. The Bramble Down is exquisite. Service was top tier as well. Timely, attentive, professional without being stiff. The capstone to our experience involved the bill. We actually had a gift card from 2017 - nine years ago. While it certainly didn't cover the whole bill, or even half, it was a nice way to defray costs. Unfortunately, when the server ran the gift card, it showed no balance. Not sure why but perhaps over the years, the card had been erased by stray EMF. Despite that and given we provided the card receipt, the restaurant honored the card for the full amount anyway. Well done. Highly recommended.
