I've had multiple interactions with the men and women at the front desk and they often come across as rude and uninterested in helping. When I call for follow-ups, I'm frequently placed on hold and then transferred, only to have to repeat my information multiple times. It turns a simple request into a frustrating process just to receive a basic service. Even in person, there's a noticeable lack of professionalism when you walk in. It's disappointing because it shouldn't feel this difficult to pay for and receive care. Times are hard, and people deserve to be treated with basic courtesy when they're spending their money. Plus all of the staff are friendly and helpful. I recently had a problem with my right eye which scared me. I woke up with sticking and tears streaming from my eye and I had problems seeing clearly from that eye. I thought it would soon go away but it didn't, it actually got worse. The following day I went into Thompson Eye Care but Dr Gerald wasn't there so I saw Dr Kathryn. She was super helpful and gentle with my eye. She ran thorough exams and explained everything she was doing. By the time she was through my eye felt a bit better and she called in prescription which I picked up that night and I was told to return the next day. The following day my eye felt better but still had the same symptoms this time I saw Dr Gerald who greeted me and told me Dr Kathryn apprised him of my problem. He ran a couple tests and took photos and he explained what he was seeing. He asked me some questions which made me realize that I had wiped my eye with a tissue and it scratched my eye. This caused the discomfort and an infection. This is the reason I have been coming to this place for my eye care. This father/daughter team is super able to make me feel taken care of. Over the years I have had my eye problems handled effectively, they are both patient and helpful. I actually know a couple of neighbors who also come here and they both love their services.

I called the office, the gal who answered the phone was very nice and able to squeeze me in as an emergency. When I arrived at the office, I walked in and although a little dated looking, I was so grateul they were able to see me. I was quickly escorted to a patient room and within minutes, a super friendly and smiling Dr. Hsieh walked in and greeted me warmly. But when I went to the appointment I signed in and was to told to take a seat and wait to be called. I sat there about an hour only to listen to the office staff talk about their personal business. We moved from Prince Georges County and wanted to see Dr. Hsieh because he gave my daughter her first prescription, so I made an appointment and drove two hours to get to the office on time. Only to be told by the office staff that we needed an referral. When I asked why I was not told this at the time I made the appointment. The office staff said that, " Its not our job to tell you that you need a referral". I was taken by surprise and we walk right out of the office. We will never refer anyone to this office. I set up my appointment well ahead of time, did everything I needed to do online to expedite the check in process. Thinking it was going to be a fast appointment. However, when I showed up, I still had to fill out several pages of paperwork and provide my insurance cards. Once I filled out my forms, I went back to the desk and was told that I didn't give them my correct insurance card. Funny, because the card I gave you said Visual right on it. Once that was over, I was then told that they didn't take my insurance. I'm calling bull on this. I did my research before hand. Searched for a doctor nearby on my insurance website, this place showed up. They then tell me that I could go up the street to another location and they would take my insurance (that was a bold faced lie, I went to another location and was told the same thing). Plus, I scheduled this appointment for a Saturday so I didn't need to take time off work to attend. I was told that I could pay out of pocket and then submit a claim. But why would I do that. You are making me do you work, because I wasn't here for just an exam, but to get new glasses. Sounds an awful lot like a scam. No thank you.
