Greeted when I was walking to the counter by a very nice gentleman. I ordered the large Greek salad with gyro meat and got the dressing and tzatziki sauce on the side. In general, I know the salads are usually large and I don't eat it all so I went ahead and got it in a to-go container. Even being lunchtime the salad came out very fast. Not busy in the restaurant but several people came and picked up food. The meat and bread were warm and the salad was cold like it should be. Overall flavor was good. On a sidenote, I did eat some of my salad in the restaurant. They have a lot of booths, tables with chairs, and lots of natural light from all the windows. King Gyros in Mishiwaka, Indiana is a mile away from my boyfriend's house (yes, we are long distance) and is this area's version of "somewhat interesting" drunk food. Good food, cheap, and fast with a 60/40 focus on quantity vs. quality. For the hungover, binge eaters among us, King Gyros is heaven on Earth. Like me, most people were there getting carryout. And like similar places, the portions are huge and the menu is overwhelming. Inside, it is a bit messy, old, and similar to a fast food restaurant that hasn't been updated in 20 years. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I got the Gyro platter for a Friday lunch for less than $15 with tax and tip. They are very generous with their fries, but they needed some seasoning to make them more interesting. The gyro meat was decent, the veggies were fresh, and the employees were efficient, although not incredibly helpful. Overall, this local fave got me really full with pretty decent food. Good tasty food, good prices. Not in any way healthy, but on those days I want a 1/3 pound, very tasty patty melt and fries, they deliver, and it only costs $8 bucks. Staff is friendly, they appear to cook every order of fries only as they are ordered. I appreciate that. read more

King Gyros on Edison has been around forever, and has always been solid. I like the greek sampler and the souvlaki plate. The souvlaki plate includes fries, they are happy to substitute double greek rice- the souvlaki skewers are always blazing hot, carmelized meat goodness. This place serves a pretty good italian beef, and the gyros are good too. The gyros plates are huge...get an extra pita. Their greek salad is really really good..super fresh and the dressing os dynamite. Service is friendly and speedy to a fault. I like good Gyros and fries. I don't like this place. I walk in, and there is a very rank, rancid smell! I couldn't identify it, but it was BAD! They have 4 or 5 menus in all different directions (some hand scribbled), so it was difficult to decide what I wanted to order- the girl at the counter wanted my order 3 seconds after I walked in , I had to tell her "I need a chance to look at the menus". I got the Gyro sammich with fries and a Coke- I ASKED THAT MY FRIES BE MADE FRESHLY (as I do in ALL restaurants!) and the counter girl said "They are fresh, we just made them" (AS ALL RESTAURANTS ALWAYS CLAIM!) So they refused to make me fresh fries, and as expected THE FRIES THEY SERVED ME WERE HARD AND STALE!!! The gyro itself wasn't bad, but I expected more for the almost $10 it cost me! The restroom was it's own horror story! (See Photos!) The urinal had an "Out of Order" sign hanging on the flush handle, but people were obviously ignoring it! The urinal looked AND SMELLED like it had a months worth of pee in it that had never been flushed! The hand towels were the old re-useable cloth towel that just gos round and round in an infinity loop- so you are drying your freshly washed hands on the same cloth towel the last guy blew his nose on! I didn't even think these things were LEGAL anymore, there is no way they are sanitary!!! The rest of the restroom was dirty and neglected. I worked with a manager years ago who told me "The restroom tells customers how the store feels about them."- well, Gyros King must not give a damn about their customers!!! read more

My husband and I stopped in for a week day craving a good gyro. It's been ages since we've been here and it appears to be recently remodeled with new booth seating, carpeting, etc so definitely an improved atmosphere! You order at the counter and the menu boards are a but confusing - the specials are on a separate board so take the time to check them out. We both went for the gyros platter with tons of meat, one pita (with an extra pita, you could easily share one platter) and a small order of fries. In hindsight, I should have ordered the junior gyros special which was significantly cheaper. They are a little chintzy on the feta, but all in all, a decent gyro! read more

When you try to be polite & even give thanks for amazing customer service and hoping to be heard, the only thing you get back first is the owner immediately calling you a liar. We bought 5 gyros and everyone who ate them has been experiencing stomach aches other symptoms that are a bit to graphic to share on here. I called and was immediately told no it's not that as if the owner is a doctor and knew it wasn't that. At first the owner denied and said it couldn't be food poisoning and shortly after she changed her narrative to "I don't think" the owner went from "I know it's not" to "I don't think" and continued to talk me down as if I was insignificant. I called to kindly make them aware so hopefully no one else gets sick but instead I came across a defensive owner. Another solid King Gyros location. I still think the best one was back on McKinley next to the McDonalds but it is gone and has changed hands a few times since I was a kid going there. Gyros, rib tips, burgers are all good and good sized. Prices are decent too, especially given the large portions. read more

We stopped here for the first time this afternoon and weren't disappointed. It was mid-afternoon so they weren't very busy. We had hungry kids visiting at home so I ordered 6 hot dogs, a 1/2 pound hamburger for my better half, a 1/2 pound cheeseburger for my sister-in-law and I ordered the Italian beef sandwich. The total came in under $25 and I was in and out in around ten minutes. Got everything home and everyone was very happy with their food. My wife is kind of picky but really liked the hamburger and my SIL liked her cheeseburger. The Italian beef sandwich was good enough that I wished I had ordered two. It was hot and spicy, good flavor with plenty of meat. My SIL's jaw dropped when I told her how much it all cost and asked to see the menu I brought home. One of the little ones couldn't finish his hot dog so my wife did and she really liked it. It reminded her of a Hebrew National dog and again, she's picky. Regarding the physical location, the dining area was clean and well kept. The staff were all friendly and polite. So, that was my experience. My girlfriend and I ordered take out from here for dinner. We were both craving gyros. We ordered the Greek sampler and it did not disappoint. There was more than enough food for the both of us, enough for two gyros along with a chicken souvlaki and generous portions of rice and fries, for less than $10. After I don't know how many years of meaning to stop in at a KG, I finally did after a movie at the super-close-by Movies 14. I am very glad I did. The portions and prices are excellent. Like Cheddars, they don't do much, if any, advertising and the savings to us are obvious. I had a burger better than anything at McDonalds or Wendys, with fries and soft drink, for more than $1 less than any of their combo meals. It is said that if law enforcement folks frequent a place, it is pretty good. Well, I saw someone from each major agency around here in the dining area in the time I ate. My friends also ordered grilled chicken (raved about it) and had orders of too generous amount of rib tips, which were very good. Again, better prices than I have seen anywhere. Swung in to grab a gyro. Place is not fancy but the food is decent. Tuesday is rib tip day and they looked outstanding. I really wanted a Gyro so that is what I had. I have been going here since I was in high school. Obviously it is not a fancy place but their Gyros are always tasty. If you are not a fan of Gyros they also have really good burgers that are very simple and juicy. The atmosphere is nothing special but the food is great for some take out. read more

Been burned at a few King Gyro locations over the years. I will say this one has been the most consistent. I'm usually there for a gyri platter (extra bread please) or the mini tip for lunch. Nothing fancy or extravagant, but fills a unique spot in the lunch rotation. read more

I ordered 2 burgers, a side of fries with bbq sauce, And their cheesecake bites. I recieved :ONE burger, they totally ignored my request for extra bbq And my cheescake bites were with held altogether! Needless to say, i was Extremely Dissatisfied . I've visited here often. I've had poor service in the past but never mentioned a word, and still returned. I visit last night for my families normal carryout. I drive home only to find they had forgotten the feta, onions & tomato in one of the gyro plates we had ordered. I called back and was told I can come back to pick up the onions, and tomatoes. I think not another round trip of 45 min so I can reheat the entire meal! I expressed my dissatisfaction, and was told I could speak with manager today but not to be disappointed tomorrow because the manager instructed them to tell me that I was welcome to bring back the entire meal today if I wanted anything in return or a refund. I told them that their policy sucks and a member of my family would have to go without dinner at all and that is complete crap! I told them that I would love to have an opportunity to tell the owner. The owner called me today and pretty much said the same thing, that is their policy and sorry but onions, tomato, and feta don't make that meal!!! By the end of the conversation I stated I would be sure to share my experience and their crappy policy on social media so everyone knows they don't stand behind their food. I supposed the near $40 I spend there each time I visit (at least once every 2 weeks) doesn't matter and that replacing a $10 meal the one and only time I've every made a complaint was too much. There are plenty of dining options in South Bend/Mishawaka area and finding Gyros elsewhere will not be too hard to do. read more
