Great food!!! Call and order ahead since it is a small place and can get packed very fast!!!

Fry shack! This place is a good, southern style seafood restaurant. It's a tiny hole in the wall, with only a few tables to sit at- most people seem to get takeaway or drive-thru. It seems that they are always upcharging people for anything that they can come up with. I think I got charged for a glass of water. They charge for tartar sauce, they get you for cocktail sauce with your shrimp, they get you if you wanna grill your seafood instead of fry it. I saw multiple patrons getting tripped up when they saw that their dishes didn't come with the sauces, and they go stand in line while their food grows cold, to be told that the sauces are extra, and there's a $5 minimum on credit cards, so they either need to spend $5 to get some tartar sauce with their fish, or go without. The cashier was none-to-friendly towards anyone. The menu is rather confusing, they have fries with and without a lot of food, but it's not really clear which dishes come with fries, and why there's plates with fries, but without. It's confusing. Fortunately, my oyster poboy came with waffle fries- a huge portion. They don't get you your drinks until your food is delivered. Thirsty? Too bad, you'll get it when your number is called. Want a refill? I'm sure that's extra. The parking lot looks like it's been a minefield at one time. It's pockmarked with potholes the size of swimming pools. Overall, the food was pretty good. There were lots of oysters in there, and two slices of tomato. The fries tasted like seafood. The French roll was crispy and fresh. Thankfully, they offer unlimited ketchup and Tabasco Sauce. The decor here could really use some work. It's blank. They do have a personalized floor mat that's interesting- it's a fish at the Alamo. God Bless Texas! read more

Lobster was over cooked. Big disappointment considering this is a sea food place and the cooks don't know how to cook lobster. Not served with dipping butter; Had to ask for it. Service was disappointing. The "feast" add on came with a half corn cob... Wow very cheap! Server too busy to ask how it was (guess they already knew how horrible it was). It's hard for me to give this place any more than a four star review. The main reason is if you do not purchase the higher quality fish than you are putting yourself in a sub par situation. The drum, flounder, red are really great especially when you put them next to the waffle fries and great tartar sauce. This place does a really good job on those specialty fishes however if you decide to Order the "house fish" then you are in for a rude surprise. The frozen fish they choose to be their house fish selection is soggy runny and non-flavorful. I can't knock their seasoning but the "house fish" is a basic choice. I would love to see a higher quality fish on their regular menu. All in all this is a must try place for fried fish just make sure you chose the more expensive and full fillets of fish and you will enjoy your dinner. read more

As we walked up to King's Seafood, the place was packed! There was a line out the door and very little seating room. This did not stop the customers from lining up to get some of that deliciousness! Gives you a good feeling about the food when business is that busy. We ordered the flounder plate and it was incredible - a HUGE fillet of flounder served atop waffle fries. That flounder... well, just wow! Perfectly seasoned and lightly breaded, it was SO fresh and cooked perfectly. When you order fried fish, you don't expect the see a giant fillet of the freshest fish served up like that. Amazing! We also got the drum - another gorgeous fillet! It was a beautiful contrast to the flounder, which was light and flaky. The drum was much more dense and meaty. Both were mouth-wateringly perfect. We loved that the breading was light and adhered to the fish, but the thing that stood out the most was the freshness. A great meal and one we will be returning to have again and again! Blah. That's the flavor of their food especially the fish. A little salt in the batter or some type of spices would really amp up the flavor. If you like bland tasting fish, then this is the place for you. The onion rings also had no flavor. It seems this place is scared of spices. The only good thing is the cole slaw. That was good. The best fried oysters I have ever had you can find at this place. Wow! My husband order a combo with fish, shrimp, stuffed crab and fried oysters. I asked him to let me try some and I wish I would had ordered a dozen of them. I ordered the 6 fried shrimp with sweet potatoes fries, fried okra and hush puppies. We were in Corpus Christi for only 4 days and we went to King Seafood as soon as we arrived and before leaving town. I found this place on Yelp and was so happy I did! The place was easy to find, staff is a bit slow but the hot great food makes up for it. It looks like a dive but looks can be deceiving, in this case it was. I went with my mom, husband and daughter - all picky eaters. We used the Drive-Thru and drove to the T-heads to eat. I ordered the #2 Flounder & coleslaw with a side order of hush puppies. Flounder was huge, hot and VERY fresh. I was surprised it was fried because the was no grease at all. The hush puppies are really good with a bite of jalapeno. The tarter sauce is awesome too, I had to fight my husband off mine. We all shared the 32 oz Shrimp Cocktail (it has fresh avocados and cilantro) it was delicious! My husband is also from Italy he was missing FRESH fish for the past 4 years. He instantly fell in love with King Seafood. He had the #26 Fish & Shrimp. The second time we went he got the #2 Flounder & French Fries. My mom said "it would be worth a drive from San Antonio once a month just to eat there!" King Seafood definitely caught my attention due to the choices of menu items. It was also really close to where I was staying, so I decided to give it a try. Upon arriving it was soo packed so I figured it had to be good so I said to myself, hell why not. Waited almost 30 mins before getting to the window to pay for my food. After 50 mins my food was finally delivered to me. I order the shrimp poboy with fries and the cheese poppers. Everything tasted fresh and was delicious. I would have gave 5 stars but the wait deducted one star. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting and I will definitely be back. read more

The locals know best! Don't let the building fool you! It's super clean, super fresh, and delicious!! We had fried shrimp & oysters, fries, slaw, & hush puppies. They know how to fry shrimp & oysters!! The hush puppies were perfect & the waffle fries made my husband happy...a large order filled up a styrofoam to go plate! The slaw was creamy & yummy. Wish there was a half star option for the ratings. King Seafood is a 3.5 star experience. I am not talking about the facility either. As long the the kitchen is clean and food is fresh, a simple location like this one can provide a five star experience. The flounder was fresh, had an excellent mix of seasoning! Great job here, 5 STARS! Shrimp was average, looked like it was purchased frozen and pre breaded, similar to the shrimp from any grocery store. Same with the roll, it was the heat & eat variety. They do nickel & dime the customers. No refills on most drinks, tea is allowed one refill. I do not like tartar sauce, and they wanted $ 0.35 each for shrimp sauce. Their tarter sauce is amazing! I found this place on Yelp while looking for some good, cheap seafood. The place was packed the entire time we were having lunch, even the drive thru was endless. There's a large selection of fried seafood you can choose from. Everything is fried and there are only a few things that are grilled. I ordered the 2 fish, 2 oysters, and 2 shrimp combo which came with waffle fries. Free refill on the iced tea only. Food came out hot and in about 10-15min even though it was packed. I left feeling very full, happy, and satisfied. You could tell that this is a place the locals frequent and I will definitely come eat here again next time I'm in corpus. read more

The last time I was in town we tried Snoopys and I was very disappointed-overrated fast food. This time we tired this place based upon the reviews. I had the shrimp and oysters & it was fabulous. Great place for some quick and delicious fried seafood in Corpus Christi. It's a little, local place with just a few tables and a to-go window. It's in a somewhat rundown, unattractive area, but the food is good and it's a pretty quick trip from Shoreline Drive. Everything on the menu except the drinks and the coleslaw and the rolls are fried. So, if you don't want fried fish or seafood (including on a poboy), then you'll want to head elsewhere. There were three of us there yesterday for dinner: my wife and I and our 18 mo. The high chair had working seatbelt clips (yay!). The toddler ate food that we brought with us. My wife and I had fried shrimp, fried fish, and sides of cole slaw and dinner roll. All were good. The shrimp were fantastic. The fish were very good. The cole slaw was good, with a fun little spicy kick that appeared at the end of a bite. The small roll was good. The price of it all was very reasonable. Was looking for a small local type joint to try some fresh seafood. Saw a lot of positive reviews & drive to King. I've never really cared about exterior presentation. I like "dive" type places because they are usually family owned & run. From the road, King Seafood fits the "dive" description to a T! I always prefer to support the local guy, as opposed to some chain. Anyway, I had fried shrimp, fries & coleslaw. The coleslaw was the best thing I ate from King. The shrimp & fries were clearly fried from frozen. Nothing special at all and definitely not worth the drive to King. You could get the same shrimp/fries anywhere in town at a big chain restaurant. I read reviews before I decide to go to restaurants. This being said , I'm am ready disappointed that the reviews were very misleading ! We went by and saw that the drive thru was backed up and thought that this place must be legit. Well we ordered our food, waited for them to bring it out. It didn't take long to have our order delivered to our car, I was impressed with the friendly customer service, so that is the only good thing about our experience. Our order ; 6 fish & 6 shrimp also we ordered an order of hush puppies. I'll start with the hush puppies , they looked like they were fried completely, but when you bite into them they are mushy and raw. The fish was 6 small portions and covered in panko. No flavor or seasoning at all not even pepper. The same can be said for the shrimp , they were butterflied but lacked taste. You could tell that the seafood was frozen not fresh. One reviewer stated that this was the best in Corpus Christi. I don't know where that reviewer has been , possibly under a rock their whole life. Lol. We could have simply gone to Long John Silvers for better food. I generally review food that's good or bad. Today's review happens to be the latter. read more
