I ride my bike here sometimes since its so close by. So far the quality has been consistent and I really like their Al Pastor burrito. The tacos and tamales are good too. I use to go to the 3rd location all the time during the 2010-2016 era. The only con is that every time I come here no matter what time there's alway a line. i'm I'm not picky with my tacos and since I like their burrito more I gave this place four stars. My all time favorite Mexican restaurant for authentic Mexican food. Who wouldn't love King Taco!?! I discovered this place back in college, fast forward 20 years I am still a frequent diner at this place. I live in the OC and would make the drive here for their tacos. There's other locations but I like this one best. Located in a big plaza with other small businesses so plenty of parking space. Staff is friendly and they usually give me plenty of condiments but I do have to ask. My all time favorite is the carne asada tacos and the combo burrito with no rice extra red sauce and extra onions with horchata. It never disappoints. Tacos and burritos are always lathered with plenty of their flavors and it's always juicy enough that while I'm scarfing it down the juice will run out. I'll continue to come and if you're hesitant about the location come in the day time this area isn't as bad as it looks. Food is definitely worth the drive for me. Note due to covid, you have to wear your mask going inside to dine or take out. But I usually order our food to go anyways. Just FYI, if you're a customer you can use their restroom. We ordered 6 tacos and 2 tamales, but were only allowed 3 sauces. Given how small the containers are, it feels unnecessarily stingy. It used to be one sauce per item, which was reasonable, but now it's one per two tacos. OK, so we have a King Taco in El Monte on Peck Road that is closer to my home than this location here. However, my wife and I chose to venture to this location long ago due to the better service... that was then. Today, it seems as if (maybe) there is a change in management and service, and this change has made this trip today frustrating. For one of the reasons why this location was better was because, in the past, we could get extra salsa without any problem. Now, it seems that this location is limiting its salsa to just two per person... and this is frustrating. We had two couples sitting next to us, both of them were complaining about the frustrating service and salsa issue; that two salsas were not enough. My wife and I spend roughly $30 for both of us, yet they want to restrict salsa to just two each. The family next to us made the same complaint. The other family next to us also mentioned this as a problem too... they were not happy. If King Taco cannot price the food to accommodate extra salsa requests, then I have to argue that management is not doing its job well in pricing. At no time did the cashier mention 'extra' salsa would be a separate charge nor did she mention we be restricted to just two each... it would be a good idea to ask customers how many salsas they need per person at the register rather than leaving customers frustrated for wanting or asking for three but only getting two. Then my other complaint for today; the Al Pastor -- it was too chunky, and it had way too much fat and gristle on the meat. Other than that, King Taco is an OK place for tacos and burritos. However, the service level today was unfriendly. If this is because of new management, it is not working. There are just too many other places to go to with better service. All I saw today was a lot of unhappy customers... and if this is now the regular case for this location, it is a sign that something is wrong and needs to change. Oh, and now $2 for a refill on Horchata... Not lovin' it. If management wants to improve customer loyalty and make some changes to the service level, I may come back. As I mentioned, this use to be a regular place for my wife and I to go, but for now, I am really not that interested in coming back for a while. I am just one customer, but if others begin to feel the same way, it may snowball into a problem for King Taco. Everything was fine until they called my number and asked for how many salsas I wanted. I ordered 10 tacos and a burrito so I asked for 4 green 4 red. Instead of addressing me directly about the salsa limit, this woman starts telling the staff to only give me five salsas in Spanish, assuming I wouldn't understand. The staff seemed confused by her demand as if it was her first time enforcing this limit. I was also confused because I've never been given a limit at any other location so I asked "there's a salsa limit?" And the woman in blue gives me a nasty look and sarcastically says "yes there is." With a rude condescending tone. I won't be spending my money at this location anymore mainly due to rude customer service and the declining quality of the food. Still my top taco spot. Nothing beats a brick and mortar shop that has all you need. The food is fresh and as tasty as it can get. They get busy but the lines move fast. Don't let it scare you away. The wait time is worth it. Personally, I get tacos de lengua and Al pastor. But if you aren't sure, get one of each. They are so small, you can have them on 3 bites. The red sauce will haunt you the next day, just saying. Also great are the SOPES! make sure the bottom is freshly fried (never take this to go, it will get hard and tasteless). The food is delicious here and we come for late night snacks. We like to get the sopes, tamales, and horchata. Usually the tamales run out if you come past 10pm, so I would recommend coming earlier. My favorite is the cheese and jalapeno tamale; they have just the right amount of salt in it so it doesn't feel too salty or greasy. I would give it 5 stars for the food. I took off one star for the service because sometimes they seem impatient while we order, and they don't speak in English for customers who don't speak Spanish. There were a few times where we waited 30 minutes for our food. All numbers are called in Spanish. Other restaurants usually have an English translation to be more inclusive of their customers, but here I have to use Google Translate to know what number is being called. read more

I was so excited I finally get to visit King Taco. It's been months since start of COVID-19. When I got there I waited in line outside the door. The person in front on me entered the door. I waited for her to move up before I entered. I stood in the 6ft distance spot marked on the floor. It was near the entrance where I entered. About one minute later one of the employees approached me and started gesturing me to go outside and started talking to me in Spanish. I had no idea what she was saying. I asked the lady next to me what she said. Her translation was the lady in front of me was the last person and I needed to go outside. The employee again yelled across from the register to talk to me again. I told her I don't understand her. Everyone was looking and no one spoke up for me. Is it because I am Asian? I felt totally disrespected. I don't know if they were trying to humiliate me or what. I asked to speak with a manager and she was at lunch. They told me I had to wait 30 minutes when her lunch is over. Apparently that same worker was able to take my order in English with no issues. If there was a cut off time for service why didn't they lock the doors? There were a dozen people who entered after me and people continue to enter as I write this review. Came in the afternoon to have some chicken nachos. The order came out in about ten minutes. The chicken recipe has changed so much. It used to have more bell peppers and onion. And now its just mainly tomato and onion. The chips are still the same. The tables were clean, the line was slow as most locations. Plenty of parking around building.
