I just recently moved back to northeast Ohio and have fond memories of this place, so I was sad to see some of the recent reviews. However, my family and I went last night and such a great meal. Two of us had the egg drop soup and it was as good as I remembered, and we all had soup dumplings and crab Rangoon, which was crispy and flavorful. For our entrees, we had the Szechuan eggplant, General Tso's chicken and shrimp in lobster sauce, but we were pretty full from the apps so we took quite a bit to go and enjoyed it later today, . The food was hot, fresh and exceeded our expectations. Our server, Alicia, was so nice and very attentive to our table. I'm looking forward to our next meal out at King Wah. read more

Someone said: the best Chinese place on the west side of Cleveland. So, I needed to check this restaurant. The place was clean and neat. The front lady was welcoming and gave us table in minutes. The menu was impressive: contained a lot of choices for any taste. I took sooo (unfortunately didn't take a pic of it) and eggplant with the rice. Honestly, I didn't expect that food would taste that good. The portion of my entree was massive and I was sure that I would have left overs... I didn't have bc I ate all! My husband and I have been dining at king wah's for 20 years. We enjoyed another great meal last night. Oh, my god, delicious. We had pot stickers. Skewered beef, Thai basil chicken that let's you know the basil is the star and Gen tso which is my husband's favorite. Waitress was happy to see us and it was great to see her. We dined on the patio last summer with the grandson. It was great because he could move around and not bother anyone. read more

Ordered from King Wah due to China Renaissance being closed on Monday. Complete Order Breakdown; (2) Sesame Chickens, Gen Tso Chicken, Crab Rangoon, (2) Vegetable Egg Rolls. Both orders of Chicken had lack of great flavor. My wife didn't like the Rangoon and the Egg Rolls or the chicken as well. Unfortunately the food is mediocre compared to China Renaissance in my humble opinion. Which is a shame due to relative closeness to this business from home. read more

Got their carry out the night before last. Disappointing. Very surprising because I've eaten at the restaurant recently and the food was good on that occasion. Carry out Shrimp with lobster sauce was twice as salty as usual. Chunks of pork instead of ground pork, no black bean, and not enough egg in the lobster sauce. I ordered "crispy duck" but got soggy, curried duck instead. The scallops with garlic tasted old, not fresh, and the pork lo mein had noodles stuck together that lacked flavor. We got King Wah takeout tonight. I feel there are limited acceptable Chinese takeout options in the Cleveland area, so King Wah is my go-to. My Order: - Kung Pao Chicken: This is heavy on peanuts. It says in the menu it is "spicy", but don't worry - it's not really spicy. I like that the chicken pieces are bigger. The mushrooms surprised me. Came with steamed rice which tasted like... steamed rice. Perfect. - Wanton Soup: Best wanton noodles in town. Hands down. - Egg Roll: Crispy on the outside, salty and delicious on the inside. Goes great with wanton soup. - Crab Rangoon: This is my favorite appetizer. Sometimes the outside isn't as crispy as I'd like, but 9 out of 10 times absolutely perfect. This was our first time here, but it won't be our last. Wonton soup is the way wonton soup used to be--with strips of pork, green onion, and wontons. Excellent! I love Kung Po Chicken and Ho Fun noodles. Well, they put them together here, and it's really, really good. No other Chinese restaurant I have ever been to has this on their menu. Lots of noodles, lots of chicken and a good deal of spice. Just yummy. My companion had the Pad Thai, and that was also great. Many other items on the menu I can't wait to try. Definitely one of if not the best Chinese food in Cleveland! Really really good. The chicken is quality white meat not the weird grey mystery meat you sometimes get at Chinese places. The rice is NOT the weird fluorescent yellow as we have all experienced. It is good and has egg but no veggies and I wish it did. The eggs rolls are fantastic and they make their own sauces!! First place I have ever seen that makes their own duck sauce and hot mustard, no packets here! Portion sizes are generous, my boyfriend and I often split a meal when we get takeout. We stopped the other day because chinese food sounded like a winner. We ended up being the losers. We shared a bowl of egg drop soup. It was just ok, if not a bit artificially yellow and $4.75! We then shared a crab rangoon. It was poorly presented, tough and tasted a bit off. Then we shared a General Tso's chicken. The chicken was tough, the sauce tasted almost burnt and smothered everything. The fried rice was a waste too. We did not finish or ask for a to go box. They did not seem to care. I came here on Saturday afternoon 2-22-20 around 3:00. The restaurant was very accommodating for children. They had people in a dragon costume and drum players. The menu said no splitting checks, but the waitress let us. I had the vegetable fried rice spicy. For $9.99 it was great value for the money. The crab Rangoon app. Was also very good. We went to eat at king wah on a Saturday afternoon. The service was terrible the food was terrible . Our crab ragoon tasted so fishy, The sweet-and-sour sauce was sour and the chicken tasted like it had been cooked with shrimp. The chicken and broccoli dish had no sauce was very dry I. The only things that we enjoyed were the soup shrimp chips and tea. I would never go there again or again. Also also the manager was very rude . She basically called the customer a liar. read more

We have been eating there for a long time and we went last Sunday and they raised prices, eliminated the complete meal meaning you must order soup($4.00)and eeg roll separately. None of the normal waitress were working and the service was terrible. As for the food, None of it was on par, I was shocked by the lack of chicken in my dish lots of green beans but little chicken and shrimp, egg roll was small and greasy and soup was fine. My last couple visits, the food was bland, shrimp was under cooked, and with all the commotion in the background when ordering, it's no wonder there was a mistake in my order. For the amount of volume this place does, the bar tender should tend bar and someone else should be taking phone orders. Instead of offering a credit or offering to refund the part of the order that was incorrect, the restaurant required us to bring back the incorrect item to obtain the refund. In the large-size black plastic container, I see a beautiful and bright assortment of green pepper and red pepper chunks, nice-sized wedges of large mushrooms, some water chestnut slices, and big plump peanuts, all swimming in an redolently inviting dark brown sauce. m-m-m. Wait a minute...something's missing. Green Pepper . . . . check Red Pepper . . . . . . check Mushrooms . . . . . . check Water Chestnuts. . check Peanuts . . . . . . . . . check Ah-hah...THERE you are.. With a serving spoon, found the very few pieces of chicken. (Embarrassed at the poor impression they were making in this namesake dish, they were all hiding underneath.) The Focal Points. The Stars of this dish. The Main Ingredients. What this is NAMED after---or so I'd always thought. Shocking how little chicken was present---much less than the equivalent of a very small breast. Not nearly enough for even two toddler appetites. This was as close to a vegetarian dish as I've ever had without specifically ordering vegetarian. Vegetables were fresh and flavorful...sauce quite delicious with just the right amount of heat...but more like KUNG PAO GREEN PEPPER with a chicken garnish. Called King Wah. Now you have to understand what I'm like. I very rarely complain, and if I do, it's legitimate and not over something trivial, I'm calm, friendly, and never raise my voice. I've made mistakes in my own kitchen, and understand how things can happen. I explained the issue, said how good it was otherwise, and must surely have been an oversight. The man said no problem---the next time I was in, I'd get a half order at no charge. At that, a woman suddenly commandeers the phone, wanting to know what the problem was. I started all over again...was interrupted a "few" times. We went back and forth. The woman INSISTED that there was "a lot of chicken" in it and that she packed it herself (repeated this at least three times.) I asked her what the normal amount would be. She had no answer---said she isn't the chef, but wanted to show him so he didn't make the mistake with other orders. One time she said she saw all the chicken on the top, then another that it all was on the bottom. (It was all on the bottom.) An absolutely ridiculous conversation. I told her this dish---of many Chinese chicken dishes I've ever had---had the least amount of chicken I'd ever seen. "Just bring it back." That stubborn type who just refuses to believe, concede, apologize, no matter what or no matter who's on the other end. Okay...this is a stretch...but if this woman was alerted that she has a call from the White House itself, and our Commander in Chief...go with me on this...in the same mellow manner---as I tried my best to maintain---he brings the very meager quantity to her attention, and she quickly says, "MR. PRESIDENT, there was a LOT of chicken in it! A LOT of chicken! I packed it MYSELF, Mr. President!" Just one of those people who dig in their heels and never back off, no matter how senseless. She told me to bring it back for a refund. I said I wasn't going back out tonight. Then bring it back tomorrow. I said that I probably couldn't. Or the day after, she said, to show the chef (?)---to put it in the refrigerator until then. Back and forth. I'm getting a headache just writing this, and rather than giving one to you, let me put us both out of our misery by saying my Take-Out will soon be Take-Back. As a footnote, the very tasty Pad Thai had a generous amount of chicken and shrimp. I'd rate both dishes as easy 4 stars for flavor, freshness, and ingredients, despite the missing chicken pieces. Came here for a birthday dinner a busy Sunday night. Was greeted and seated promptly. Service was slow because the restaurant was busy. The manager came out and apologized for the slowness which I appreciated. I ordered the walnuts shrimp with a side of spring roll. Both were adequate and good. I wished the shrimp was a little crispier. My friends had the vegetable fried rice which they raved about. All in all it was good.
