Brought my Honda in for an "Emissions Check" light - had already gotten the code. King's had to "keep my car all day" - which they seems to be their standard operating procedure!? Came to pickup my car and was told after "spending 3 hours they found nothing wrong. But if it happens again, we won't charge you." They did NOT replace any parts, but still charged me for labor at $237. One month later - same light, same code. When I called to ask what the part replacement would cost, I was told, "It would be parts & labor." So I would be CHARGED TWICE for the same problem - which they never fixed in the first place. read more

I was very impressed with the way they handled the inspection process for a car I brought in from local dealer. They understood my apprehension about the vehicle, and instead of immediately going through with the inspection and charging for that, they were able to quickly flag a couple of things that they were concerned about and brought them to my attention so I could decide if I wanted them to proceed with the full inspection. I was born in Fort Collins and have lived here ever since. I have tried multiple repair shops for mine and my wife's vehicles over the years. I have been using Kings Auto since 2018. Since then, I stopped trying other shops. Our vehicles have never run better. They have a maintenance program that has kept my trucks from breaking down and they always let me know whether something needs attention now or whether it can wait. I appreciate the honesty and feel that they have my best interests in mind rather than pushing me to spend more. My first time here, I brought them a very old truck that was kind of on its last leg. I asked them to get it running again because it was sentimental to me. They provided me with a lot of details about what needed to be fixed. It was a combination of pictures, videos, and explanations. I liked the fact that I was able to understand what was needed and why. I gave them approval to move forward on the work. It took some time, longer than they originally said, but when I drove it for the first time after picking it up, it was worth it. The truck ran smoother than ever before. I did have to bring it back for a leak that they fixed but they warrantied it and put me in loaner. I liked the fact they took responsibility and made it right. After that, I brought them my family's other trucks and it's been a good experience. I don't have to worry about knowing what is due or when since they keep a record of past and future scheduled work. They make it easy to stay on top of the maintenance schedules. My wife also takes her 4runner in by herself and they treat her very well. She has had poor experiences in the past with other garages treating her poorly but tells me she feels comfortable and respected when at Kings. read more

I have to admit that I have an irrational aversion to getting work done on my car. It's not that I don't appreciate having a car that is running well -- I most certainly do. It's just that I have come to expect that the experience of getting work done is going to be at best annoying (e.g. having the techs at the corner lube shop robotically going through their checklist of things they are supposed to up-sell) but more likely infuriating (getting reamed by the local dealer in a situation when I felt like I had no choice but to go to them, though in retrospect I would have been better off having my car towed from their service lot ...) Anyway, I had been planning to take a pretty extensive road trip over the holidays, and after hearing about some pretty scary mishaps a friend had with her car on a few shorter trips up to the mountains, it occurred to me that I might want to make sure my car was in good working order before embarking on my 1200-mile journey. I found King's via Yelp (by the way, Craig H., thanks for your negative review -- Naveed's response gave me a good feeling that these guys understand customer service & made them stand out among the other mom & pop shops with good reviews on Yelp). The trip check itself took about half an hour, which they were able to schedule pretty quickly. They uncovered some issues, not surprising since I had neglected some scheduled maintenance. There were a few things that I really appreciated about working with this shop. First and foremost, the service manager, Adam, was willing to explain the work and answer my questions in terms I could understand. Like most women, I don't have much expertise in the workings of cars ... but I am educated and logical, so explaining the whats. and whys made me feel better equipped to make decisions and not so "at the mercy" of the shop. Also, automatically breaking down his recommendations by priority and cost again made it easier to make decisions about what work to have done. Finally, when it came to actually doing the work, I felt like they made decisions as they were going that were in my best interest, not just doing everything I had agreed to because it fit into my stated budget. The one negative was that the work took longer than I had been expected, but the most important thing is that I had total confidence that my car was going to be fine for my trip. read more

I discovered Kings when I first moved to Fort Collins three years ago, and I have trusted them with my Hondas ever since. I rely on them to give me honest, uninflated estimates for whatever problems my car is experiencing. They keep me updated on their progress, all costs, and anything else that comes up. I'm also super impressed with how they are managing in the current pandemic. When I picked up my car from them last month, I watched as they removed a protective covering from my seat and steering wheel, then wiped down all touchpoints in the car before turning the keys over to me. I've never been pushed off by this company until now. I regret my years of loyal patronage to this business and regret sending ANY of my acquaintances to this garage. The team at King's was amazing. They were fast, responsive, transparent with pricing, and provided a student discount. My car was well overdue for service and I was pretty nervous about taking it in, as I'm a female who has absolutely no car knowledge and I didn't have a good experience the last place I took it. When I dropped it off Sam explained everything they were going to do and why, communicated with me while it was there to get permission to fix the issues that were found and give me an updated cost, and took the time to explain everything again and answer all my dumb questions when I picked it up, despite it being closing time. I got my oil changed for much cheaper than I paid elsewhere, and got my transmission fluid replaced in less time than expected. They don't try to upsell you or rip you off. They provide you with a detailed report of your car including the things that look good, things they recommend you have serviced, and the things that are required. They even explain to you why each repair is important. I appreciated this so much, as I could take the report and my estimate and decide what to have done with no pressure at all. They even provided me with Lyft rides when they needed my car for a few hours, which was very generous. 10/10 would recommend! read more

So I dragged my feet going to a auto shop for a proper assesment. kings was reccomended to me by a colleague. Nevertheless, dissapointnent was delivered on a drum brake with unserviceable brake pads. Not Only was my quote not a 55 point courtesy check, it was salty. They must have assumed I was a blonde with no recognition of the difference between left and right. Two simple identical parts left and right, yet priced differently..... and yes research was done and the set is evenly priced. This is the best auto-repair shop I've been to. They are honest and pragmatic about repairs, and their service advisers are affable and transparent. I take my cars here for oil changes and repairs regularly--their service is consistent. Furthermore, I was test-driving a car which I wanted to have looked at before buying. I stopped in on my test drive, knowing that it would be a long shot for them to have time to give it a pre-purchase inspection since they typically book out a few days for appointments. Driving to Fort Collins our check engine light came on. Called King's who advised that we should go to someplace to get the codes pulled so we would know what was going on. Called back and told them-they fit us in first thing in the morning-we were on a tight schedule to check into an Airbnb and didn't have any other transportation. They were extremely helpful trying many different things to fix the problem and get us to our appointment on time which they did. They even gave us some gas treatment to use and wanted us to let them know how it worked. Stopped by on our way out of town today and they gave us another can of gas treatment-no charge. They were helpful and wanting to solve the problem. Didn't try to get us to do unnecessary work. So far all is running great! Suggested things we might do to the car when we got home. Right after my 18 year old son moved to Fort Collins his older Ford truck broke down, I did some research and ended up calling Kings Auto. I spoke with Adam, let him know the situation with the truck as well as the situation of me living out of state and needing to be the point of contact. Adam was great! They went through the truck, came back to me with a laundry list of things that needed to be done. They were honest about must replace items, should replace and items we could put a band-aid on for financial reasons. We came up with a game plan and got the truck back on the road for a very affordable amount. We just had another, unrelated, issue with the truck...had it towed to Kings again and once again top notch service. These guys are fantastic. I stumbled upon them one wintery Saturday afternoon after running my car into a curb and completely messing up the tie rod and strut on the passenger side of my car. At 4:30. On a Saturday. These guys were the only ones with an ad in the phone book in my car that were open and could not only help me but also rent me a cheap rental car to use to get to work the next day while my car was worked on. They were so helpful and friendly with this semi-emergency repair (with which they gave me a discount, which was awesome) that we've made them our regular mechanic. We drive a Ford Focus and a new Elantra that we just started bringing here. They are able to fit me in last minute if needed, give me a ride home or to work while my car is being worked on, and they explain and show me what repairs need to be done (I appreciate being able to see the worn/broken part). I even needed advice over the phone on how to change a flat (I know, I should have known how to do this...now I do) when I popped a tire on my way to work. I HIGHLY recommend King's. I've had nothing but quality, honest, and friendly service. They are family owned and do a great job. read more

We've started taking both of our cars to Kings after how happy i was after the first visit. My girlfriends care needed a lot of repairs that most other garages didn't even bother to check on. Wile the repairs where expensive it was quite a lot of work, and i think almost every time I've been there they hooked us up with a discount or some sort of benefit. It's awesome. We've been here i think about 4-6 times now between our two cars and every single time i'm happy with the service and the performance of this shop. Auto repair shops are not exactly known for being honest in general. However, in such an industry, King's is the ultimate example of one which does everything the right way in that regard. Over the past year and a half or so, my car has been in there numerous times. It's higher-mileage and therefore out-of-warranty, so a small shop is almost certainly cheaper than bringing it into a dealership. The work performed has varied from simple oil changes to an alternator replacement (from which I picked the car up this very morning, in fact), and through it all, the staff has been very polite, very professional, very friendly, and very helpful. In fact, contrary to many shops out there, they even suggested NOT performing certain work because they felt it wouldn't be totally necessary. As a result, this is the first and only place I will recommend to my colleagues when it comes to car maintenance. Not only do they do a great job, but they're extremely trustworthy - a rare thing to say when it comes to auto shops. As long as I'm in northern Colorado, they will be receiving my business. read more

I recently bought a used car, and was looking for a reliable, honest auto center in town at which to get it serviced. I found King's on yelp, and it is every bit as good as the other reviews suggest. I assumed I'd need to have my belts replaced-- King's went in and took a look and told me they'd all been replaced recently, thereby saving me at least a few hundred dollars. I was pleasantly surprised that they'd be so up-front and honest with me. The few times I've taken in my car, the staff is always friendly, but never pushy. They're trustworthy, and knowledgeable, and I won't take my car to any other place in town. read more

My wife and I noticed a clanging noise develop while we were on our way from Nebraska to Estes Park. We stayed in Fort Collins for the night and started calling around the following morning. We contacted a few places but they acted like they needed more than 24 hours notice to get us in. All that we wanted was to know from a certified mechanic that we weren't going to break down on our way into the mountains. We contacted King's and spoke with Naveed who put us on hold for a moment while he was checking availability and he came back and said he could fit us in within the hour. We arrived on time and handed over our keys and then walked down to Qdoba which was just down the road within walking distance while we were waiting. When we came back we waited a good 10 minutes and we were informed that the skid plate on our car had come loose because it was warped and was most likely causing the noise. They also mentioned they found a few bolts involving the suspension that weren't tightened to the proper torque requirements so they tightened those up too. Just to make sure we were satisfied, the mechanic took us around the block and we found a few pot holes to hit to make sure the noise had disappeared for good. We were very happy with how thorough they were in making sure we were pleased with the repair and their prices were reasonable. I can't say enough about how much we appreciate their ability to get us in on a whim and make sure we were taken care of. Thank you!!! read more

I took my civic in last summer to get my AC fixed as it had not retained any of the 3 cans of refrigerant I added. I was told they could not find a leak (even though I was confident there was one) and filled me back up with 2 lbs + a uv dye "in case" it was leaking. That lasted me 2 days. I took it back in again only to be told both connections on the refrigerant tube had been leaking and the hose had many holes. They ordered a new one, installed, and filled me back up, all of which I paid for. That lasted me the last 6 or so weeks of last summer. Upon starting to use my AC again this summer, I have found that once again my car has no refrigerant or AC capability. If you are wanting complete and sustainable service that does not require you to continuously pay out of pocket for the same issue over and over again, don't take your car here. read more

I'm extremely skeptical of car repair shops. At 62, I've had my share of horror stories. IMHO, the only way to find a good one is by referral, and that's how I found Kings. At this writing, been using them for 8 months. I've had a wheel bearing replaced on my '08 4runner (which sees its share of hard use), and general service. So far, the service and work have been excellent. Adam and Co. are very knowledgeable, and often bend over backwards to accommodate me. I can get a ride home after dropping off the car (though I don't live too far away). Highly recommended. Why not 5 stars? Nobody's perfect, and I'm a VERY hard grader. BTW, my referral was a female with a 4runner with almost 300K miles. She reports they've never taken advantage of her; always treated her fairly. read more

Adam, Naveed and every associate with whom I've interacted has been professional, followed up on their word and patiently explained work completed, as well as possible concerns for the future (I am driving a 2000 Ford;). At no time have I felt pressured or mainipulated. During my time in the shop, I witnessed their diligence with other customers (by phone or in person) in the same respectful manner. I highly recommend King's Auto for pre-purchase inspections (a must when buying a vehicle through private party) as well as repair and maintenance. For those of you sensitive to auto repair environments, the shop is clean, has a waiting area with magazines and a coffee machine. Recently, upon looking for service again, I looked at the Kia service department, but opted to look at King's Service. They took the BEST care of me. Having a great mechanic as a father makes me EXTRA picky about where I take my car. Of course, if my father lived here I would just ask him to service and repair my car, but he lives on the East Coast, so... I went to Yelp to help me find the best mechanic in FoCo. King's is very friendly, not overpriced, great at explaining service needed, and don't push unnecessary service.As a woman, we tend to get condescending explanations from mechanics, but these guys have never been that way. I rarely feel the need to review a place as soon as I visit it, but I wanted to say that King's Auto Center has my business and my money when it comes to my car. After reading the less than stellar reviews of "the other guys" (i.e. most of the franchised oil change centers in Fort Collins); some of which can only be described as horror stories, I was wondering where in town I could take my car for an oil change at a decent price without having to worry about some major headache coming up. I found King's on both Google and here on Yelp; and the overwhelmingly positive reviews (especially in comparison to other places) made me feel a bit comfortable with taking my vehicle there. I called and was given an appointment on the same day. They had me in and out in around 40 minutes for an oil change; inspected everything and let me know the overall condition of my car. Naveed was very friendly, explained to me when I would need certain servicing issues they had noticed; and didn't try at all to sell me any services I hadn't asked for (something many reviews mention for "those other guys"). I felt they went the distance when it came to customer care and honesty. These guys understand that a business can make a lot more money by having happy and loyal customers as opposed to turning a person off after the first visit. While they aren't the cheapest place I found in town for an oil change (though certainly not the most expensive either, and are fairly priced), based on my research, they appear to be one of if not the best, and will be the place I go to for future maintainance and work. Kings auto is my go-to! During the pandemic I had to get work done on my car and did a contactless drop off. They called and shared what work will be done, how much it would cost, and asked if I wanted to proceed or not. I appreciate that and they were more than happy to answer questions I had, sharing details so I had a very good understanding before giving the green light. Their new intake system for cars is very advanced/tech savvy too - I got a text message and email with photos of what work my car needed by level of severity (green - good, yellow - service soon, red - take care of ASAP); this gave me a great visual to what they recommended and I was able to reply to the text immediately to authorize / see if they had capacity to tack on additional services. I picked up my car knowing exactly what was done and never felt cheated in any way. Generally I feel like they are a bit more pricey than other mechanics but they've also been super reliable and do great work. read more
