I took my Mini Cooper in for an oil change. From the get go this place was pushing for an upsell. It wasn't leaking oil before I took it here. After their service it appeared the oil pan plug was leaking oil. Took it back. They said it was the plug gasket. Also said the oil pan gasket was leaking. Now it has a constant drip from the plug. Won't be back and whoever reads this beware. These guys are just after your money!! read more

had not personally used Scott's for any of my cars. But I recommended Scott's to my son for his Honda Pilot. They were very thorough with the inspection and recommendations over the years. The repair work they did on his car was excellent. Fast forward to this August and now I have my daughter's car (Toyota Highlander) in Fort Collins and we have just completed an inspection of the car. A shout out to the service writers. Marty saw us initially Wed. at 8:00 and we realized with my appointment at a glass shop, that the inspection couldn't be completed in a timely manner. He then proceeded to work us in the next day. Brendan was the service writer that took us in for our Thurs. appointment and after inspection, explained everything that was recommended based on the mileage of the car. Being just enough of a gearhead to get me in trouble but know what is needed and what is not, I was very impressed with the quality and thoroughness of the inspection. I never felt pressured to buy any parts, products, or services. I cannot speak highly enough of the service I received. Brendan and Marty were very friendly, engaging, and professional. While I was satisfied with the work that was done, I was very unhappy with the pricing of my repair. Having had extensive evaluation and repair by Scott's two months prior, I specifically requested replacement of my starter and a battery check only. I did not need or ask for a repeat of a "to do" list that I already had. Yet, I was charged $292.47 for "evaluation". An additional cost of $110.64 was charged for "shop supplies", which is an outrageous "tax" added to an already inflated bill. In fact, a base cost of $1000 for a starter is also very high. As mentioned, the quality of the work was acceptable, but "bring a large wallet"! read more

I can't say enough great things about Scott's Fort Collins Auto! My boss took his car in for some repairs, and was pleasantly surprised that Scott himself took care of him from start to finish. He was not only incredibly patient but also transparent throughout the entire process. One thing that really stood out was how he went above and beyond by working directly with the insurance company to get a portion of the bill covered--something we didn't expect at all. My venerable old truck had a few electrical hiccups recently (completely shut off while doing 35 down a 4 lane road) so I looked on my Costco Auto program to find out my discount auto repair shop would be and it turned out to be Scott's. So I gave them a chance and I'm glad I did! The communication is quite good - they kept me appraised of when my truck would get looked at and even bumped it up in the rotation a little so I could get to work on time. They do have a shuttle service if you need a lift home (Thanks Sharon!). The pricing is OK, given that EVERYTHING is so expensive right now. I took my Ford Edge to Scotts Auto for an inspection to drive my vehicle across the country. The inspection was thorough but incorrect. When i picked up my SUV the hood was not closed all the way and the hood flew open on 287 going 50 miles an hour. No serious damage was done to my car because of my reaction time. I was hysterically crying and had to play frogger on 287 to slam my hood closed. I reported this incident to Scotts Auto and i spoke with the Regional Manager and she was so sweet and helpful but Scotts Auto is not a place to get work done on your vehicle. I took my SUV to a different place and they stated half the things on my inspection don't need to be replaced and they actually recommended a different fix on my car for $300 instead of $3,000 like Scotts Auto quoted me. read more

Great service, these guys helped me put a set of 33s on. As well as drill out a bump stop bolt I snapped in half, helped me get the other side out as well dropped my lower control arms and all for 2 hours of labor. I've been a Scott's customer for about seven or eight years and have spent a significant amount of money there, but the service has been declining to the point where I'll take my car elsewhere. In the past, they have done some excellent work, however, they also seem to miss important issues. For example, this last time it was a start up and idling issue that they said was only due to a bad battery. I'm quite sure the battery was bad, but after almost $400 paid towards the problem and no diagnosis offered by Scott's, the issue continued. Even I could hear the rough idle with my untrained ear. So I took the car to another mechanic, who diagnosed the problem in 30 minutes and had it fixed that afternoon. Now, days later, the car is running fantastic. Not only that, but it was an issue with oil regulation that would have caused significant damage had the problem remained undiagnosed. There are also a lot of little issues that always arise after service. Basically, there's always *something*. I've had garage door openers and screwdrivers left in the car on more than one occasion. Twice, I've had to return to the shop because they've forgotten to screw back on the protective covers on the bottom of the car. Consistently forgetting to replace the oil change sticker on the windshield. It's become a running joke in our family--what did they forget this time? All these are small details, but it makes me concerned about what they are forgetting that I can't see. Repairs also take an extremely long time. Since I have another vehicle, this is not a huge deal for me personally, but it's always longer than they say it will be. I laugh a little when I get the call at 5 pm telling me that it won't be ready that day. It's pretty standard, and I'm sure a huge hassle for someone who doesn't have a second vehicle. Expense. They seem to be on the slightly expensive side, but not so expensive that I wouldn't pay it if they provided better service. But over the last few visits, the diagnostic fees seem to be getting higher and higher. I just leave there feeling slightly taken advantage of. The good side? They seem mostly honest, although very eager to suggest repairs. The front desk is responsive and professional. They provide pictures in their reports and are readily available to discuss and explain what they find. I have used Scott's Auto for many years, the previous owners were really honest and did great work. We will be taking all of our cars elsewhere from now on. My daughter brought her older truck in for a major brake job, they charged her $1700.00 for the parts and labor. When she got it back she said they definitely didn't feel good and not worth the amount she paid. When she brought it back they told her that the work they did ended up breaking some of the older parts that were not repaired because they didn't look bad at the time. Then they wanted to charge her another $580.00 for the other labor and parts. Seriously!!? How much can you really charge for brakes? If their work broke other things why aren't they liable? Then they tell her they don't feel comfortable letting her drive an unsafe vehicle! Really?! When you created the problem??? PLEASE look at the 5 star reviewers location, they don't even live in the state, they must be their friends and family. Go anywhere but here! read more

Hands down the best experience I have had at an Auto Shop! My service advisor Calar was wonderful and so helpful. I received a detailed report with photos of my vehicle, with recommendations but Calar and the rest of the team were not pushy or trying to upsell me (which is always been my experience with Auto Shops). Kris was my contact person and she was incredibly nice, but that's the only good thing I can say about Scott's. Here are the facts: Scott's charged $160 for their diagnostic; none of which goes towards repairs. They thought I needed a new Transmission Control Module (TCM) and quoted me $1,600. I took my car elsewhere, to a transmission specialist, whose diagnostic was $50 which was applied to my repairs. They agreed I needed a new TCM, but only charged $850. To state the obvious: Scott's wanted to charge DOUBLE what it cost elsewhere. Not to mention their outrageous diagnostic fee. read more

I had a two service appointments with Scott's Auto this year (2024). One cost around $1800 and the other around $1500. A couple of weeks after the most recent appointment my check engine light came on. I had it checked at Scott's and was told that it had something to do with emissions and while it affected the environment it did not affect the performance of the car. Since it would cost $1500 to repair and I had already had two asymptomatic repairs in a short amount of time I decided to get a second opinion. I was told a hose was not connected and the environmental system was fine. After the hose was reconnected the check engine light went off. I saved myself $1500. Maybe it was just one of those things, but I won't be going back to Scott's Automotive. Single women need to be careful wherever they get their cars repaired. They were very polite and nice though. Very disappointing. It took from 8 am to 5:30 to diagnose and get a simple oil change. They wanted to charge me almost 6k with things that were not necessary. This feels like robbing people. Customer service was really fake. Except for the shuttle kid I support his dreams of becoming a mechanic. read more

Scott's Auto is one of the most friendly an helpful auto shops I've ever been to. I called in the morning of and spoke to a man named David who was kind and more than willing to help me with my car troubles. I had accidentally run over something on the freeway that had fallen out of a truck a couple cars in front of me the day prior. My car was making strange noises and was visibly damaged underneath. I brought my car in no more than an hour and they inspected the underside of my car to determine that the issue was that my car's skid guard was destroyed. They helped me find the parts and everything that I needed in order to get it fixed! I am thrilled with my experience at Scott's Auto and would happily recommend them to anyone looking for a friendly & fairly priced auto shop in the Fort Collins area. Another outstanding service on the Toyota Rav 4. Its really neat to have full access to the inspection report with photos. Inspection reports keep our autos in top shape. And that's important to me. I can't tell you the number of times I've had to get out of bed in the dead of night to give a friend a ride because their car broke down or won't start. And we always get the call because our cars always work. You have to maintain your vehicles. Breaking down sucks and the joy of road trips can't be overstated. Love these guys!! I am a recent college grad and took my car in for the first time in way too long, and they found quite a few things wrong with it. I was anxious to assume I needed it all fixed, so I sent it to a few mechanic family members and friends, including my old mechanics from out of state, and they all told me I found an honest auto body shop and that they were not trying to get anything more out of me than I absolutely needed. The two times I've been to Scott's they have been extremely accommodating and great in communicating anything wrong with my car and explaining my options in great detail. The amenities within the waiting area are great and they are always willing to give you a ride or pick you up if need be while your car is being worked on. They provide a detailed inspection report on your car so you know exactly what is going on and what is needed. The work is always done in a timely manner and they are great about staying in contact and giving you updates on the completion of the work. After my two experiences so far with Scott's, I do not plan on taking my car anywhere else in Fort Collins for oil changes and maintenance. read more

I had to have some major engine repairs done on my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. We are fairly new to Fort Collins so we hadn't yet established a repair place in town. Scott's Fort Collins Auto was able to get my Jeep in right away to diagnose the problem (ticking sound when engine running). Turns out I needed lifters and rockers replaced in engine as there were many worn/needing replacement. The customer service here is outstanding. They always explained throughly what steps needed to be taken, estimated pricing, and time frame for repairs throughput my experience. I was relieved they had a loaner vehicle for me to use (no charge) as I was starting a new job before my vehicle was finished being repaired. They even got me an Uber to get me home when I initially dropped my vehicle off (got loaner car next day when it was available). 5 stars they did a fantastic job and my engine sounds amazing now that the repairs are finished. When my headlight was out after the inspection I called to inquire about it and within 15 minutes I was out the door with it fixed. So there was an ongoing charging system service light on my '18 F350 6.7L. They had my truck for two days charged me ~$200 for diagnostics after I told them down to the two wire colors yellow and "purple" which one had the short in it. Had a delayed response getting back to me about the $4k wiring harness they wanted to do. Opted for the option that they were going to do an "overlay" mind you they charged me $400. Instead of actually overlaying the existing trace their "most experience diesel tech" literally laid what looks like a 14AWG black wire connecting to yellow wire ends literally laying across the intake and top of the motor. The was zero wire loom used and also failed to leave any type of service loop should it need repaired again. I have to say normally the is a few chances but i would never uses Scott's in Fort Collins again. If i could give them less than a one star I would!!! read more

Scotts automotive tried to completely take advantage of me. Was in town from out of state and had an accident hitting a curb. only the passenger side of suspension needed repair and I was quoted over $8000 !! to fix 1 wheel! Could not believe them. Towed it to the dealership from there shop and then was quoted only $2000 and still felt as if I was high priced so I did the work myself and only 1 control arm and ball joint needed replacing. This shop has become a favorite of mine , the staff is awesome to work with and had squeezed me in when I hit town. I drive for a living which makes my truck a very high priority.
