Fun and loud space with a relatively large cocktail and food menu. Vibe is almost like pub-like but nicer. The food is generally good; entree portion sizes are quite generous and everything tasted good though there wasn't anything that was super memorable for me. We ordered about 6 apps and 3 entrees for 4 people which was more than enough. There is no dessert offered. Kings Co Imperial features a slightly more modern take on Chinese food. The menu is pretty accessible and while I wouldn't call it the most authentic, it's still an admirable take on Chinese takeout classics. The place is pretty casual, and almost feels like a dark pub. Service was also casual and friendly. Prices are pretty reasonable and portions are decent, definitely meant to be shared, as any good Chinese place should be. The food I overall thought was solid. I'll be honest, I don't think anything here is exceptional, but they're above average takes on classic Chinese dishes. The soup dumplings were solid with flavorful broth and skin a little bit on this thicker side. The eggplant dish was cooked well and the eggplant wasn't overcooked. The kung pao chicken was a good take on the dish, lots of flavor from the sauce. Nothing here is overly greasy which is a plus. I'd say if you live nearby and are passing by, definitely worth a consideration. read more

What a strange late dinner... I stopped in at 9 PM on a Monday. Not too crowded, but busy enough.. I was sat quickly, The host gave me some water and a little dish of pickled vegetables with peppers. Simple but tasty, a nice note while deciding what I wanted. I ordered a glass of iced jasmine tea, dry fried long beans, and beef chow fun. Let me start with this... I hate plastic chopsticks, they are just an awful dining experience. With wood, the food grips to the fibers of the stick, it just slides off plastic... bad start for the price point. The iced tea was lovely, but for $6, I would expect a bigger glass than one you rinse your teeth with at the sink. The dried fruit piece you won't eat, is the majority of the cost there. A little crazy... I will say the food came out like lightning, it was so quick, I was startled. The long beans were the absolute highlight of the meal. Crispy, salty, bursting with fat from the charred pork and so easy to just devour. I will be craving that flavor again... However, I cannot say the same for the beef chow fun unfortunately. Such a dreadful dish... it was so strange texturally a bit of a nightmare. Seared flavorful tender beef pieces, on soggy wet noddles with chopped up Chinese broccoli and garlic pieces. It was awful on the mouth. The vegetables not nearly soft enough, the noodles falling apart, and the beef just lumped on top as if it wasn't even made in the same wok. It was like someone just slopped the items on boiled noodles and topped with sauce. Not my vibe and I love chow fun dearly! The flavors were there, but the technique was not well executed. The service was lovely and attentive, however the wooden seating in the front I was placed it, was not made for a larger framed individuals. I kept rocking as I ate, which made it challenging to comfortably dine. I did love the traditional Chun Gaung candy with the bill.. a very nice touch in my eyes. Ended up at Kings Co after a happy hour with some friends, and would say it absolutely exceeded expectations. Decor was dimly lit but not pretentious, and I liked the artwork hung throughout the space. Not the biggest restaurant but it felt appropriately sized with tables that could accommodate some larger groups as well as small. Service was attentive, friendly, and helpful. Getting to the food - portions were much larger than we expected, and everything was very flavorful with good amount of spice where appropriate. - The Sichuan cucumbers both had a kick while also being extremely refreshing. - Typhoon Calamari we ordered on a whim. Personally would say one of my favorites I've had in the city since they used panko for their breading (gave a crunchier texture and good flavor) while also having some heat from the chilis - Ants Climbing a Tree was a plentiful bowl of noodles with pork and mushroom. Delicious! - Mapo Tofu had a very flavorful sauce. It also contained pork which I was pleasantly surprised by, but you could get it vegan if you'd like We left super satisfied, and I'll be sure to recommend to friends in the area! I came here kind of late on a saturday night on a quest to find some dim sum in the neighborhood. The menu seemed promising, but we were sat in the middle of tables full of Gen Z girls ready to hit a night out on the town, and it was a touch loud and obnoxious. I won't adjust the rating for the rude crowd, but the food was exactly what we were looking for... Overview Scallion Pancake - crispy and perfect Dan Dan Mian - cant go wrong, very flavorful Pork Soup Dumplings - these were a touch off, I think something with the dough, it kept tearing before we could get it off the dish and all the soup poured out onto the plate Steamed Dumplings (Pork) - these were ok, but I think next time I'd try a pan fried dumpling over this General Tso's Chicken - so good and fresh Overall would love to come back again and try other things next time. read more

i usually don't review but our experience at Kings Co Imperial was extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. First, the food flavors were extremely gross, almost inedible.. Tuesday night a couple of our canto favorites were closed so we walked to Kings without reservations. Offered the bar seating which was empty. We got the spicy cucumbers, garlic chicken and general tso. These favorite here was the cucumbers. They were right level spicy, salty, sweet and still crunchy. I love to order this dish and make at home. pai Huang Gua is often served smashed but this version was tasty. The other 2 dishes were a bit disappointing. The garlic chicken was crispy but ultimately dry, and the sauce was watery, on the sweet side and missing that soy salty kick this fried dish needed. The familiar general tsos was half fried chicken nuggets and half broccoli and peppers. Appreciate the nutrition boost but wanted more chicken. We paid almost $80 for the above which left us wanting more and a bit underwhelmed. read more

From my initial query through pick up, the experience with Nisha V. was fantastic. Super helpful and cordial and great to work with. The food was outstanding!!! All guests were super pleased and really enjoyed all the items. The variety of dishes recommended by Nisha provided a well-rounded menu. The staff was ready for my arrival and brought everything to my car. They provided abundant quantities of sauces and take out containers. Many guests left with leftovers packed in these containers. I would high recommend using Kings Co Imperial to cater your party. My party was for around 25 guests and the amount of food that I ordered was more than enough. I lived on the east coast for a while so I know what kind of Chinese food to search out for and this just didn't quite hit that familiar spot. We ordered quite a bit -- drinks included. Of everything the scallion pancake stood out to me the most. It was one of the best that I've had, and our waiter mentioned it was also one of the only vegan recipes in New York. That surprised me! We also ordered the General Tso's chicken, which I wanted to be more spicy. The Mapo Tofu was good, but not very hot when it got to us. I really enjoyed the pork soup dumplings -- another highlight of the meal. Rice was okay but not super flavorful. Ordered a few more things that I do not necessarily remember. The bok choy was not well washed so I felt like I was eating sand the whole time :\ I get that with Chinese style bok choy it's harder to wash but this was actually terrible. The mapo tofu was also pretty gross -- way too salty and just honestly didn't taste like mapo tofu at all. The firm tofu (it's usually made with soft tofu) also made it worse. The only saving grace was kind of the soup dumplings, which is why it has two stars instead of one. read more

This is a review of outdoor dining during the pandemic. Recently came here for dinner with a friend. They have a few tables set up for outdoor dining, partially shaded. Just a warning: the restaurant is right at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge so it can get quite loud from the traffic. Unfortunately, half of the menu was "sold out" when I visited. A few of the dishes I wanted to try were not available... but we nevertheless persevered. The wok seared long dumplings were huge. At first I thought they were too expensive at 4 for $12, but I underestimated how big and filling they were. The kung po chicken was pretty standard but did provide some good heat. As always, I wish there was more chicken in the dish. But the highlight by far were the cold sesame noodles. Fresh. Delicious. Addictive. Yes... they were a bit too salty but it's okay. I couldn't resist them anyway. Perfect in the heat of outdoor dining. This place is a solid 4 stars, and I'm curious to see what the vibe is like inside the restaurant. The bar tender was friendly and gave us food and drink recommendations. We ended up ordering the Hong Kong noodles and kung po chicken. As a Chinese person growing up eating home-cooked Chinese food, I thought King Co Imperial used too much soy sauce that imbued the food with excessive amounts of salt and a lot of the dishes were fried so it's not the healthiest meal which overall made the experience feel like unauthentic Americanized Chinese cuisine. However, I must say that the scallion pancakes, cold sesame noodles, and crispy Sichuan oyster mushrooms were all delicious. Caveat - we did NOT try all the meat dishes since our meal was primarily vegetarian. Solid service and great atmosphere with catchy tunes. I love drinking and I hate throwing away alcohol. I will usually gulp everything down, even if the drink isn't that great. I ordered the shanghai mule and my friends ordered a spritz. We ordered the mock eel which is essentially shiitake mushrooms thinly sliced and cooked in eel sauce. This is basically the best dish in the restaurant. We decided to venture out and try other new dishes including the mapo tofu, the snow pea shoots, and the twice cooked heritage pork. The mapo tofu taste okay but need more sauce. It was very dry for a mapo tofu. The snow pea shoots were good but not amazing. They didn't taste any more special than any place in Chinatown. I feel like it needed more garlic. Finally the twice cooked pork was a huge fail. The pork was dry and the dish was not impressive in flavoring at all. In terms of service, the staff is nice and attentive enough. But the was really a 20-30 minute lull between our first two dishes and last two. There was no communication or reason to why it took so long but we sat around with nothing to eat for a good period of time. Overall this place has the potential to be more but too many misses.
