Located close to Barnes, we walked here for brunch on a Tuesday morning having never been here before. Located in the central west end neighborhood. A very nice outdoor seating area. Indoors was nice as well. We were seated right away. Everything you'd want on a breakfast/brunch menu, including fun boozy options. Staff was extremely friendly and efficient. I don't really have anything negative to point out about this experience. If I had to be nit picky I wish they had draft beer - they only have can/bottle options. A delightful brunch. My family, off duty service dog, and I were delighted to enjoy a beautiful patio brunch. The wait was over 30mins as the seating is limited for the patio, but worth the wait to enjoy sunshine and a mimosa flight! The flight was enough for 1 person or share with another. We tried the kids custom breakfast with a giant pancake, sausage patty, and fresh fruit. There was only 1 kid option but the customization was great for us. My partner got protein oatmeal (contains PB) and the southern comfort. The oatmeal can come hot or cold and was a great portion if thats all you wish to eat. The SC was underwhelming because the waffle was thick as well as the gravy. I got the chicken and waffles and can agree the waffles are thick and have a slight sweetness. The chicken tenders were dry for me but if they marinate the chicken then it could be a great improvement as the batter is seasoned. The venue is obviously noisy as the patio is on the corner of euclid so you hear and see it all on one of the busiest intersections of the CWE. Met a friend here for lunch. I loved how bright and open it was. It is a fairly big place too so plenty of space between tables. Our server was super nice. I ordered the smash burger with cheese and was a bit disappointed in it. Just tasted Ho hum. It had lettuce and tomato on it but maybe pickles would have been a good addition. But I was really there for the company so it matter. I did get a cold brew coffee as well but without ice!! unfortunately server filled the cup so full there was no room to add water or barely room for cream. That meant it was super strong. A very short walk from the Chase Park Royal Sonesta Hotel, we thought we would save a little money for breakfast. While less expensive than the hotel breakfast, it also wasn't as good. Service suffered from a lack of good communication between the two hosts and our server, our server was good though. Pancakes were good and a good deal. Coffee was good but the latte drinks came in those awkward oversized coffee cups that require a two hand heft and they cool off too fast. The oatmeal was tepid and unpleasantly al dente. Yes I now know that's what they mean by overnight oatmeal but I didn't know that until we ordered it. Sometimes you can tell a trend is going to be short lived. Either pay more for better breakfast at the hotel, or drive through the enormous Forest Park to Courtesy Diner for a much better deal. read more

Definitely like an elevated diner feel and their menu definitely has something for everyone. I ordered through their site and my pickup time was about an hour after I ordered. It was ready right on time and still hot when I got it back to my room. I got the BLTA sandwich that comes with fries. I really loved their fries. They were the type that has a crunchy batter on them which I love. They stayed crispy, especially for being takeout. The sandwich had lots of great elements, but it was way too dry for me. It had garlic aioli on it, but there was really barely any on there. I loved the addition of the avocado and how they do fried green tomatoes instead of regular tomatoes. But it desperately needed something to cut all the breading. I even asked for an extra side of garlic aioli to dip my fries in and they didn't give me that much. The restaurant just has those feel-good breakfast vibes that set the tone for a great outing. They were obviously pretty busy on a Sunday morning, but there were a few spots open on the counter in the window, so we were able to sit right away. The "Damn Delicious" was truly damn delicious. One day I went for the chicken and waffles which were very solid, and another the meat focused hash. Portion sizes are fantastic, everything is cooked perfectly, and there's a good number of options to choose from. The staff is super friendly, quick to offer suggestions and get anything you need. The place is mildly chess themed to fit in well into this historic chess focused part of town. Nothing too intense on the theming, but it's there, and make sure you stop by the museum next door. My daughter liked her chrese quesadilla and our waitress was nice enough to sub out her fries for hash browns. My son was happy to select items he most wanted from the kids breakfast list. I had the Damn Delicious... and it WAS! My brother in law had the Johnny Cash and raved about it. Decor is chess related as the chess museum is next door. Visited Kingside on a Sunday morning for brunch. We were able to find pretty easy street parking. The patio was in full swing, even with the threat of severe storms. The servers worked quickly to put umbrellas up to take care of those outside. We were sat on the bar side quickly. We didn't have a reservation, but other people that walked in we're waiting about 20 or 30 minutes for a table. You can reserve a table online. We had the $7 cinnamon roll to start, which was a generous portion of a warm cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing. It was just fine, chewy, but also thought a crunch on the outside. Their menu is pretty expensive. We decided on the bacon burrito, and the baker. Both came with hashbrowns (or fruit for $1 more). The burritos were good size and plenty enough to fill for a brunch appetite. I would give the food four out of five stars, the service was very good and very attentive. Found this quaint little diner Kingside Diner while visiting St Louis. Lucky for me I beat the Sunday morning rush. I really went here to try the Kingside Slinger since it is a dish specific to Stl but was told it was huge. I went with the 'Meet Me In St Louie' skillet ~ bacon, sausage, ham, green peppers, red peppers, onion, cheddar cheese served over hash browns and two eggs your way....very good and filling. They offer a variety of specialty lattes; I tried the Caramel Pecan Roll ~ cinnamon, butter pecan, caramel, double espresso, steamed half and half ...loved it! Visiting my daughter for her birthday and she chose Kingside for brunch. The ambiance is really nice. It has a chess theme and feels very classy. Service is very good. Cute neighborhood with many nice shops. We walked to Lululemon afterwards. I ordered eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. The eggs had more of a gourmet feel than I was expecting, with sour cream on top (see my pics). Hash browns were tasty and I got one (1) pancake, which was funny to me, but a nice complement to my meal. Overall, I would recommend. I had the meet me in St. Louis skillet, which was perfectly prepared with just the right amount of meat, hashbrowns, and eggs. Tried a new brunch spot this past week and was pleasantly surprised with my experience at Kingside Diner. It's chess-themed because of its location -- it's next to the Guinness world record giant chess piece! The inside is a bit retro. They had the Olympics playing during breakfast. I came in around 8 am and was promptly seated. They have fancy, gourmet flavored lattes and my server recommended the Snickers latte. It tasted like a regular caramel latte, nothing special, but a bit expensive. I wanted something light so I ordered their bagel and lox -- capers, smoked salmon, tomatoes, cream cheese, and red onions came on the side. You can't really mess up a bagel and lox IMO! It was delightful and I felt pleasantly full after my meal. Overall: I probably would come back again with a group if they wanted to go, but I wouldn't go on my own again. This was my first visit since Kingside Diner moved across the street. Very nice. I especially like the larger patio and I like that it is dog friendly. My fur-baby wasn't with me, but I got to give attention to the ones around me. I stopped by with a friend who I was taking to a doctors appointment. His doctors office called him and pushed his appointment back two hours due to an emergency. So we had time to kill. Since I hadn't had breakfast, I told him I'd treat us to Kingside. I started my morning with coffee and mimosa, he stayed with water since he was going to the doc. He also made his entree simple, by ordering a single biscuit with gravy. He gave it a thumbs up and he use to be a chef, so that is a big positive. My entree was, Make Your Move. It was two eggs, I had mine over hard with the yolk broken, Hash Browns and my choice of meat. I'm no fool, I choose bacon and instead of plain toast, I went with an English Muffin. It was a hearty diner breakfast. Only thing that could have made this breakfast better, would have been having my dog with me. If I had to point out a negative, it would be parking. It was a pain, but I did land a Prince parking space after circling only once. read more

Awesome diner for breakfast & brunch. They are also open for dinner 4-10 Thursday through Saturday. Some breakfast items are on the dinner menu as well. There is also a full bar. Unfortunately I didn't get many pics as I was there after dark on a cold icy evening. Perfect timing and location to enjoy a musical performance at World Chess Club after dinner. Inside is super clean and features some chess decor. There is a cozy lounge area set up with chess boards. Plenty of outdoor seating when weather permits. Our group of five was promptly seated with menus; and server brought water for everyone immediately. Cynthia gave excellent attentive service throughout our meal. Portions were generous, almost enough for two meals. Everything is served on real dishes with linen napkins. We all declined carry out since we had plans immediately afterwards. Cynthia knew we were on a time crunch and expedited payment so we wouldn't be late. I'll definitely go again and look forward to enjoying the patio.
