    My beautiful turkey
    Deirdre G.

I ordered TG dinner from this small local restaurant. I had never eaten there but the reviews were favorable and the menu was appealing. Many of the reviews mentioned a longer than average waiting period for the food, which I experienced. It was completely understandable because take home TG dinner is a big effort. Particularly the meticulous way this was formatted So, for my selections : I got a half a smoked/ roasted turkey, bleu cheese Mac, stuffing and sweet potato pecan pie. The smell driving home was divine. So divine that I abandoned all traditions and sat down to TG dinner the minute I got home.(it was Wednesday). This food was some of the finest I have ever eaten. The turkey actually made my eyes roll back in my head. I wish I had two stomachs. I actually feel sorry for those of you who aren't having Gooseberries this holiday. Thank you Gooseberries !!!! You gave me Goosebumps!

I just had the greatest experience at Gooseberries! I called last week to ask them about reservation for brunch, I have a fairly large group (20 people). They actually don't take reservations but opened an exception for us, not only put the reservation in but they closed for us from 11 to 12:30. We got there today and they were waiting for us, very friendly and nice! Everyone was happy and pleased with the food and service. Thank you so much Gooseberries staff! You made our day! Food was awesome! I love the deep fried tofu.

Yum! I've been meaning to check out this funky spot for years and I'm so glad I finally made it! The vibe is quirky, relaxed/ friendly, and playful. The menu has vegan/ vegetarian stuff and also meat/ dairy options. I got the vegan nachos and beet Reuben which both delicious! The nachos were my favorite and I'm already craving them again. You don't even miss the cheese. My friend got the biscuits and gravy with bacon and eggs and he said it was amazing. While we were waiting for our food the owner brought us over free popcorn! We'll definitely be back, this place was amazing!

WOW. Yelp pointed us in this direction for brunch, and it did not disappoint. We walked in and immediately got the scoop from Miles--pay up front, put in your omelet order when you arrive (see photos for a list of 5000 filing choices), and "Oh by the way, how do you feel about pancakes?" I was initially thrown off because the non-made to order stuff was set out in crockpot type dishes, but my wariness didn't last long. It turned out to be cafeteria style, down to the little paper serving dishes. Things I ate: -Freshly made tortilla chips with beer cheese: yum -The three house pancakes for the day (carrot cake, strawberry, and spinach/garlic): all delicious, went back for more of the carrot cake -Bottomless bacon: the thick cut kind, just the way I like it -Homemade donuts: chewy and covered in powdered sugar -Fresh blood orange/pineapple juice -World's best breakfast potatoes: seem to have been both fried and baked, amazingly seasoned, definitely had seconds of these babies -Omelet with bacon, cheddar, sauteed onion, and popcorn: well made, huge portion, hard for me to eat it all but I certainly tried! In addition to all of that, there were tons of things that I didn't have room to try: three different and beautiful salads, biscuits and a few kinds of gravy, sausage, pulled pork that looked legitimately smoked, fancy cookies, waffles, several tofu choices, bacon-wrapped chicken legs, and more. We came in from out of town and weren't familiar with the area at all. I'm not sure the restaurant matched the surrounding neighborhood, but we didn't care and street parking was easy and free. What really sealed the deal for me on this dining experience is that it was only $13 per person (very reasonable for brunch, even non-buffet style) but the quality of the food was absolutely outstanding, and it was clear that every single dish was freshly made. The only complaint I might have is that this brunch is only offered on Saturdays...if I were a local, I would need it way more than that!

This place is so awesome. The food was excellent and the service by the owner matched some to the last minute. If you are tired of the everyday restaurant make your journey to this place. You can play board games while the owners make your food with love. They even give you fresh popcorn to keep you smacking until It's time to eat. Please Save some time to look at the wall art as well. I don't know how you could leave here unhappy.

Daily specials with handpies that are to die for! I tried the butterscotch apple, pad Thai, and red eye gravy covered biscuit. I'm amazed at the talent and creativity in the food! It's addicting, delicious, and so well priced I find myself heading down Chippewa to try what's new. Perhaps walking there will make me feel less guilty at my indulgence. Must try, and to again to test out all of what's new.

4.5 stars for one of the most scrumptious, trendiest brunch buffets I've had in town to date! Went on a rainy Saturday shortly after they opened. It gets packed quickly, so show up early if you want one of the few tables they have, or be ready (and comfortable) to share a table with strangers. I was amazed at the selection of items they had in the buffet - there really was something for everybody. Biscuits and three types of gravy, homemade pita chips and dips, bacon, sausage (get the sausage. GET IT), vegan donuts, carrot pancakes, and more. You even get your choice of an omelette with your buffet, which is both a blessing, and sadly, the one downfall of this amazing spot. My omelette had a slider smashed into it. You heard right (from a certain pale colored medieval sounding place). It even came with a packet of mustard horseradish sauce. You'll never want any other omelette again after trying this - I promise, it was that good. My only regret is that the omelette easily took over an hour to get, with how busy the restaurant was. I felt bad as I kept watching people pile in with no seats available as the rest of us waited. To be fair, when they brought the omelette out, we were told they were a man down that day. To conclude: I can't wait to go back to Gooseberries, and I wish these guys the best - my hope is that they're able to expand their space/kitchen relatively soon!

This is a very nice, friendly, and DELICIOUS EATERY!!! Interestingly, the owner's 1st date was making hot sauce together! This is a cute old school vintage restaurant, with great customer service! I ordered the steak-n- cake, the carrot cake pancakes were my absolute favorite. Great for dates, family or meet and greet for friends... they have games to play and tasty popcorn to eat, while you wait for your food. Gooseberries offer amazing options for vegan customers as well. On top of that at at night the menu changes and it's BYOB! Stop by ASAP... you can thank me later!!!

The reviews led us here, and we were not disappointed. So happy we decided to check this place out. The staff is friendly, the decor is really neat, and the food was incredible. I love their logo! The prices alone should win the hearts of many. I got a delicious fried egg sandwich on homemade jalapeño cheddar bread and the daily handpie special (Mac & cheese!) for $5. Five dollars. The dining area is kitschy and clean -- lots to look at. We dined on a Tuesday morning and I cannot wait to go back for the Saturday brunch buffet. Support this great local spot -- it will not leave you wanting.

To be a last minute find a place... that was close by, easy to get into and DELICIOUS! This place checked all the boxes. We went in around noon. We bought parking close to The Arch but it didn't start until 2 PM so we were trying to time it just right. We were here just over 1 hour. It allowed us plenty of time to eat and drive time to Arch parking. It wasn't on purpose but we both ended up with chorizo. I had a chorizo bowl with sunny eggs. I did want some fruit so I ended up with a side of fruit and 2 biscuits. The biscuits are droolworthy; Not enough places make biscuits like that. My wife ordered the chorizo omelet. She loved it but had plenty to take for leftovers. They have a small parking lot but we parked on the nearby side street and didn't have an issue. I thought we'd have to wait for a table but we didn't have any wait. Maybe this is a hidden gem of St Louis. It certainly is to us because it was so tasty. This place deserves all the business. 269 percent worth checking out! What are you waiting for?

Not only were we not granted an exception on the checks as consolation for not being able to order french fries, there was no indication that this had even occurred to our server. This is precisely the level of temerity we need to inculcate in young women in our society, and I'd encourage her to apply for a job at the women's-only sports bar a few doors down if and when it ever opens. It'd be tragic if she wasn't there if and when I return, but I'd appreciate the fact that she has a greater mission. Hopefully, the deep fryer is working. It being out of commission naturally limited the number of things on the menu we could order. We were only told that we couldn't order anything that required a deep fryer, not given a modified menu or anything. I started going through each item and imagining how it might be prepared, but I couldn't muster the psychological bandwidth to continue. Hit my Cash App if you appreciate the amount of unpaid emotional labor I was compelled to contribute. It occurred to me that I might just get a burger and a side salad, but then I saw that they carry a club sandwich. I love a good club sandwich, and I figured it might make for a light, refreshing alternative, given the weather. There's an option to get a cup of soup for $1.50 extra as a side with your sandwich (no, they didn't offer to eat the charge), and I figured that might go well with my sandwich. I was kicking myself when they brought out someone else's order with the side salad. It looked really good. The Frisco Burger, or whatever they're calling it, looked good too. Meanwhile, the BBQ Beef & Cheddar Soup--the soup du jour (that's French), according to Flo--looked gross, like something your dog might cough up. But damn it was good! It was more beef than anything else. A large bowl of it might actually be too much food. (I'd still eat it, natch.) The overall flavor profile was along the lines of a good french onion soup. It was a reminder that I need to be ordering soup in restaurants more often. I wish the club sandwich was cut into little triangles and fanned out on the plate in some elaborate configuration, like at a place where rich old ladies have lunch, but I guess that wouldn't have been in keeping with the theme. Instead, it was served on the world's thickest Texas toast, with the world's dullest steak knife protruding from its center. This sounds like hyperbole, but I may have honestly been served the equivalent of half a loaf of bread. It was much more bread than I required, but at least it was fresh and delicious, as were all the other ingredients. Turkey used for sandwiches is almost never remarkable, but this was surprisingly great, as good as anything you'd get served as an entree unto itself. Nothing about this place suggests that it would have such good food, but it just goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover. The decor, the overall vibe and the lack of hospitality might not be for everyone, but don't let that deter you.

My wife was drawing with my 11 year old daughter (and writing "secret messages") as their food was being prepped and prepared. When my food finally came out, I immediately took a bite. The brisket was very juicy and tender. And the eggs were delicious on the side. I tried this place several years ago. Was still the same good taste that I remember when I took my wife to this place. I was very excited to try them but left knowing I would not return. I waited 40 minutes on a weekday morning for a bar seat for one, standing because all the waiting area seats were taken. The hostess/waitress was very nice when she got to me, but you could tell that the amount of customers was simply too much to handle. Now, this was okay - I should have made a reservation, and it's not the staff's fault they were overwhelmed. However, the service once I sat down was patchy, delayed and distracted. I had to remind different servers of my presence, multiple times. I was willing to overlook this if the food had been fantastic, but unfortunately, their most popular item, the combo breakfast sandwich, was so incredibly heavy. The first bite was crispy, oily and fatty deliciousness, but by the third bite it was simply too rich. The sweet overtone of the honey was lovely but did not cut through the grease. By the time I finished half, I understood why several diners had left the other half uneaten. My personal preference is for a fresh, umami yet balanced sandwich that does not make me feel queasy after finishing it. This was not the sandwich for me. There was a long delay after I finished eating for them to bring me the check. My whole meal took around 2.5 hours. I had arrived starving and, I like to think, with an open mind. These are my honest, unfiltered observations. It is wonderful that so many people want to try their food and that their new space is bigger. Their decor, glassware and menu were cute and tasteful. I also love that they grew from a farmers market food stall and that they source their ingredients locally. With their level of popularity, I think they should focus on preserving the quality of their service and food.

Once we glanced over the cocktail menu, we knew what we wanted. We're both Espresso Martini fans, we each got one. Seeing an espresso machine behind the bar, I glad to see they use "real" espresso in their martini. I got real excited when he grabbed my favorite vodka, Tito's as the base. Watching his masterful skills as he prepared our cocktails was pure entertainment. We were both impressed with the presentation of our martinis. They are served in vintage styled glasses. It was the best Espresso Martini I have had since, Harvey's in midtown closed. The martinis were so good, we thought we'd have a light nosh. We both like pistachios so we ordered a, Pistachio Brown Butter Tea Cake and shared it. The bartender also recommended it. His description was spot on. With an excellent martini and a pistachio tea cake, I may have told the bartender that I loved him. We finished our drinks and I settled up our tab in celebration of my BFF's B-Day. Walking out, both of us said, we're definitely coming back.
