Purchased a game on sale at a great price way before they opened up online and paid for it to pick up in store. Tried to call several times once they opened to confirm they held it for me so I can come pick it up. Never got an email confirmation and nobody ever picked up the phone. At the end of the day, I got an email that they canceled my order because I never picked it up. The order was in progress status until they canceled it. I'm sure they ghosted me just so they could hook up a friend with my purchase. This GameStop is the worst. read more

Be prepared to be threatened and harassed at this location. All the one stars reviews for this GameStop are true. Any good employees at this location are gone, and Brandon (the manager?) caters to scalpers and allows them to cut in front of people to let then buy the whole shipment. The scalpers will literally come here with crowds of people to harass and threaten you, and they will still be allowed in the area. One of the harassers literally had a bat and began threatening other people in line and NOTHING was done about it. read more

I was harasses by people who were in line for the Pokemon drop on 6/13. I arrived at 10am to wait in line at the store. There were others who weren't in front of the store but said they were here earlier and had a paper queue already and tried to get other people to leave by saying there won't be any cards left after their group of 18+ people buys everything. I still waited in front of the store and told them I would listen if they had security come down and confirm with the store owner, but the group kept getting more aggressive. A group of males walked up to me to harass me and one brandished a bat to try and intimidate me to get to the end of the line. In the end, I was not able to obtain any pokemon cards at this location. One of the men even taunted me saying if I want cards I should buy the pack off of him. If there was a queue system, this Gamestop should make it apparent at their door sign or even limit just ONE item per customer as most other stores are doing in the area to combat scalpers. The scalpers in front of me ended up buying multiple of every item. I want to buy these cards because I enjoy pokemon, but scalpers and their groupies are intimidating hobbyists. I would recommend to avoid this store until the manager changes their policy or just change managers in general. read more

I wish I could give this location 0 stars. Days before release day most of us were told to line up day of & that the line would start 8am day of from staff at this location. They even told a lot us on the phone & in person it would be 1 per person to make things fair. It's crazy how they decided to give priority to people who would bully others & spew derogatory things towards others who were just quietly waiting for the release.. I can't believe the discrimination I witnessed towards a Hispanic mother by a group of people there as well! I've been to this GameStop on Beach Blvd many times and usually have a good experience -- the guys who work here are always helpful and polite. But this most recent visit was shocking. I walked in on a Saturday night and was greeted by a girl at the counter. At first, she said hi and asked what I was looking for, but the second I responded with Pokemon, her whole demeanor changed. Her eyes went cold, and she gave me the most dismissive "nope." My boyfriend politely followed up, asking if they knew anything about a shipment, and again -- same cold, hard "nope," no explanation, no effort to help, not even a simple "sorry, I'm not sure." Just a flat-out, rude tone like we were bothering her by even asking. She didn't offer any alternatives or follow-up. It was honestly so rude, we walked out feeling completely thrown off. It's disappointing because this location is usually great, but that interaction was unacceptable. If this had been our first visit, we'd never come back. read more

The customer service does not exist at this store, unfortunately. The one person, I believe his name is Brandon, who is likely the manager, just gives out a bad vibe and usually play favorites when it comes to Pokemon. From what I heard, there are rumors that he let his friends/employees cut the line or get majority of the Pokemon inventory even though it's "1 per customer." One of the employees even went as far as telling me he pulled a god pack from an ETB he got from the store. The girl Hannah gives a vibe as though she doesn't want to work there or gets annoyed when it comes to Pokemon. They entered my email wrong during a PSA submission, so I couldn't check the status on my cards. They told me I would have to contact PSA;but because it's a service provided by GameStop, it is through their system (which they can easily pull up). I even tried calling the store, they never picked up their phone, and Hannah and Brandon brushed off the topic as though they don't want to help anybody. If you're serious about a wide selection of games and grading, I recommend making the drive to the Costa Mesa location or the Irvine location off of Jamboree. read more

Come here to witness terrible management at work and an even worse shopping experience when buying Pokémon cards. Management has a history of working with scalpers to provide front row access in line to cut in front of other patient customers. Not only that, I have even witnessed them turn a blind eye to the very scalpers threatening other customers with *physical violence* if they do not move back in line. Allowing this behavior at their store and catering to them is absolutely abhorrent. read more

In response to many reviews today... I was one of the people in the front group and wanted to extend our perspective. When you've been camping for something for that long, (since Tuesday to be specific), of course frustration is going to arise when people start coming out of the woodwork the night before and even the morning of to try to take our spot. Our group was not looking for trouble - we let everyone know that the boxes were accounted for because the GameStop employees acknowledged our presence since Tuesday. Additionally, security management in that center does not allow camping overnight. In order to award us for our commitment and to keep our spot in line, management remembered us and helped us out. Those of you that were calling us "assholes" don't know any of the story that took place and the whole line was spreading misinformation and twisting our story. It's unfortunate that we had to even be harassed by multiple people when we were just trying to secure our spot in line. It's also unfortunate when multiple people in line decide that they want to film you/take pictures of you without consent (we have video proof of this). I know for a fact that if any of you were in our shoes, you would have been right there defending yourselves too. And at the end of the day, if you wanted the drop that bad, you would have been there in our spot. Thank you to the employees/management for keeping things fair and navigating the chaos. These guys stink. The last pre-order I placed there, I went to pick it up on release and they said there was an error with the order. They wouldn't let me pick up the game even though I had already paid for it in advance. Then they joke about people not being able to pick up preorders the next time I'm there (seriously wtf?!). I've had them tell me that my monthly pro reward wasn't redeemable at their location; I go to Westminster Mall Gamestop the same day and they say it's fine. When people say Gamestop has poor service, it's stores like these that really enforce that unfortunate sentiment. I know that it's a big company but the brain-rotted employees only do things to make the experience more frustrating for their own customers. I'm definitely planning to shop at Gamestop less after my experiences here, and I don't plan on returning to this store even if I am. Screw these guys. read more

Horrible customer service. The employees are assholes. Especially the kid that wears a whole suit and sunglasses to work(Weirdo), threw a hissy fit over a small skateboard strapped on my backpack and wanted me to put it outside, its a bad area and im not trying to get my belongings stolen. Having a board wasn't bothering anyone and little bro really raised his voice over it. I bought mortal kombat 1 on black Friday for xbox, sealed and everything and I wanted to trade it in for cash due to me losing the receipt at walmart.
