    Beef Jollof

I came here on opening day last weekend and my experience was not so good. They provided a full menu but you could only order specific things for the grand opening-- it would make more sense to give out a grand opening menu with limited options instead of having our server come back and forth to tell us that "we aren't selling that today". I also was displeased at the fact that we were given great value bottles of water as our drinks, at least pour the water in a glass for us and add ice to the glass. The restaurant cooked our food to order, which was fine. We were quoted a wait of 20-30 minutes for our food but instead we waited a whole hour to wait for the food and we were 1 of 2 parties in the restaurant. We drove all the way to Norcross to try it so we were hangry with the wait but we figured it would be worth it. I order Beef Jollof and my mom order Chicken Jollof. When getting our food, my food tasted decent, the spices were on point, but my beef was kind of tough. I prefer my beef tender, but due to the wait I didn't want to wait to redo it. My mom was extremely disappointed with her food. Her chicken was still pink and she didn't bother to eat the rice or plantains. Im still confused how it took an hour to cook the food and her chicken came out undone. I would expect more out of a restaurants grand opening. Nevertheless, the restaurant has potential due to the nice servers and the decorations but I don't think I would go back to see their improvements.

The pounded yam was smooth and not too thick. I had fun scooping up the Egusi in the Fufu with my hands. Both together was an enjoyable flavor and texture combo. The Beef Suya was good as well, a nice meat appetizer. The beef was cooked well done which some people may not like, but I enjoyed it since I grew up eating my steak that way. It paired very well with the spice blend and raw onions. I also had the Ghanaian Jollof Rice and that was not my most favorite dish due to the flavor. Not my cup of tea, but the rice was cooked well. I also liked the side plantains. The interior is nicely ornate and comfy. The service here was also super great and my assigned server was very personable. I genuinely enjoyed my conversation with her and she did well giving me recommendations and directions as a first timer for this type of food. Overall, I had a great experience here and would come back again!

The okra soup was super thick, barely any soup / sauce. it had a bunch of sharp pieces of crew shell with no crab meat to be found. I usually feed it to my baby but it had so many sharp pieces. the egusi was SUPER dark and oily. it looked like dirty car oil and it was SALTY ! the chicken suya was great as always but they changed the dipping sauce that comes with it which is the main reason i even get the chicken. the sauce is disgusting. this was the absolute worst experience i've had here . it was a waste of my $125 and i will not be returning . i spend thousands yearly on this food and this experience has been a major turn off . i drive 35 minutes fron buckhead atleast 2x a month to enjoy this food and i am totally turned off from this latest experience . i would normally recommend but the change in the food was soooo drastic ! i'm scared!

It was my first time having shito. The Jollof wasn't my favorite, unfortunately, but it finally settled the debate for me once and for all - I'm team Nigerian when it comes to Jollof. Although the Efo Riro was nicely flavored, the mix of collard greens did not compliment this dish as I thought it would. I prefer it with spinach and from my Nigerian food connect (Mina's Jollof in LA). Hers can't be beaten! Black Eye Peas were unique, and the plantains were cooked nicely. Now for the ambiance: We were one of two tables during the day, so having the place for ourselves felt nice. It also looked tidy. Our waitress was a sweetheart. I forgot her name, but she was attentive. Would I return? Perhaps when revisiting ATL. Overall: The experience was enjoyable!

You know nothing about serving customers in the restaurant industry. Every real restauranteur knows the at 1 minute to close you are full service. Lost a customer for life! Very dark and not many traditional tables and chairs. I came around lunch time and there were quite a few ladies in beautiful traditional dress (it was Christmas Eve). I had called ahead and ordered takeout and when I walked in I was promptly acknowledged. Food arrived in the quoted time (25 minutes). Nigerian cuisine is not one I'm incredibly familiar with, but I have tried many of the standard dishes. Today I went with White Rice and Red Stew, which comes with plantains. It was delicious. Piping hot and incredibly fresh. The spice level was perfect. Just spicy enough but in no way overpowering. The plantains added a sweet element which played beautifully against the spice of the stew. The only place they lost points was the price on the website is not the price I was charged. $19 on the website and I was charged $25 but maybe they just haven't updated to reflect current prices. Regardless, I really enjoyed my food and can't wait to go back and try some other dishes. Edit: Take note, it doesn't say "The Island Grill" on the sign. It says "The African Grill."

They came with steak fries, which i'm usually not the biggest fan of, but they were fried crispy so I didn't mind them. The jollof rice also tasted good on it's own - not the best Naija jollof I've had (not spicy), but solid for a restaurant/bar. Our server was really sweet as well. Even though they're open for dinner hours, it's definitely mainly a bar/lounge based on the size and setup. I will warn - if hookah is not your thing, this isn't the place for you. Since it's pretty small in there, there's nowhere to really get away from the smoke or people who are smoking. I'd go back for dinner, but would make sure I'm out before ~11pm, which is when it seems to pick up in traffic and smoke.

I can't speak to how the service is on a busy night but I haven't had any problems on the days that I've gone. Some menu items are served on select days which is a bummer but other than that, me and my friends have always been satisfied with the food. I've had their shrimp tacos, asun (peppered goat) and jollof which are delicious. My friend has also ordered their kpomo and had no complaints. I've been to a few African restaurants and this is by far my favorite. The food here is so flavorful compared to others OTP. My only con is that the music is very loud even when there's hardly anyone in the restaurant. I wished they'd turn the music down but I guess that is the culture here in Atlanta. Definitely give this a place a try, you won't regret it!

Piri-piri chicken, garlic bread, and zero self-control. Nando's is already one of our go-to spots, so it didn't take much convincing. The vibe hits that perfect sweet spot between casual and "we're pretending this is a planned night out." And the food? Consistently elite. My husband went with his usual: the 2 1/4 legs, hot. A bold man with a questionable spice tolerance, but I respect the commitment. I ordered the chicken thigh skewers, medium, because I like to feel something without seeing my life flash before my eyes. Now let's talk about the real star of the show: the garlic bread. I don't know what they put in it, but I would trust it with my financial decisions. It's that good. He also got the fries (which, okay... a little skimpy this time, Nando's, we noticed ), and I switched things up with the corn on the cob, which absolutely held its own. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we needed even though we didn't know we needed it. We met up with my sister and her kids, who ordered after us, but honestly the best part of the night was just hanging out, talking, and letting the table slowly turn into a graveyard of sauce-covered plates and crumbs. Final verdict: Came for matcha. Left with full stomachs, zero regrets, and a renewed emotional attachment to garlic bread. Would accidentally end up here again 10/10.
