Southern Suya did an amazing job introducing me to West African cuisine. The cashier Yusuf, also did an amazing job guiding my friends and I through the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]At the time, we decided to dine in, and the interior looked nice with clean tables and chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was a little bit of a wait for the food to come out. I had decided to go with some Plantains, Beef Suya, with Jollof Rice, and Okra Stew that comes with the Pounded Yams (or Fufu I believe). First off, the Plantains are either a hit or miss, they aren't that sweet I had also gotten served one fresh and hot, and the second time was a bit cold. Beef Suya had so much flavor with its seasonings and pepper but it was a little tough to chew through. The Jollof Rice is just as good, it has the same flavoring profile being grilled and seasoned as the beef overall I felt it was a bit too much for my palette, I could've gone for coconut rice to be honest. The Okra Stew was good, it had a bit of a kick and heat to pair with the sort of bland Fufu the size of your palm. My friend got the 6-piece chicken wings with the Suya seasoning, the wings were seasoned perfectly, and tender, and crispy fries as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a pretty big restaurant and pretty empty on a weekend around 630pm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Maybe that was a sign. The lady at the front clearly didn't want to be there. There I had a friend that had questions about the menu and basically she answered with one word responses. "It's chicken. It's beef. There's rice." My friend was annoyed. I thought it was kind of funny. My other friend ordered a Coke Zero and she brought out a diet Coke. It's not the same. I don't really care but he does. She said they were out so he pointed to another friend and asked can he get that water flavor drink instead. The lady said no because that drink cost a little more. Ridiculous. The food was good. I liked the jollof rice and the plantains. I thought that goat and beef was too tough though. Would I come back here again? The food here has been pretty disappointing as of late. I've sat in the actual restaurant and recently ordered here and both times I just wasn't really wowed by what we received. The fried rice was very basic. I felt like there wasn't enough flavor or seasoning. It was cooked well, but it just wasn't very tasty. I will say the Suya was pretty good. I will give them that for sure but I also ordered coconut rice and I just thought it tasted good when I added stew on top, but by itself it was not great either. It also took a really long time for the food to be ready and arrive to us so overall again I enjoyed the suya but it's not the best African food I've ever had for sure. read more

I have 1 star for the vegetable stew/ or side vegetable stew,,basically a side of efo riro. That was delicious although small in portion & not a complete side. The price for portions isn't greate compared to other African restaurants. They are pretty far from the city, for me I live in Buckhead & their pretty close to memorial drive but their prices are city prices with smaller portions. That's not a deterrent for me, but everything I ordered was subpar, the jollof tasted old & not like jollof more like herbed rice, the side of goat asun sauce was very thyme driven & tasted nothing like asun sauce. The portions were small maybe if we ate there it would have been larger. It took awhile for the food to be prepared. The location had nice decor I noticed more people ordering to go orders. Southern Suya was okay. When walking in, there was a line which was cool it gave me more time to make my final decision on what to eat. The fish was cooked to perfection, flavor explosion. The egusi stew was good, I've received bigger portions at other restaurants and an accompanying bowl of water to eat the stew. I had to ask many times for napkins that I never received. As well as a Togo container for my food. I wish they gave you a plastic Togo container for stew instead of styrofoam. Styrofoam leaks stew. The restaurant is now located at Northlake. They are currently open for take out only. I I had the super swarmed. It's folded in a wrap and has lamb, chicken, beef hotdog with warm spices. Absolutely loved the food and environment. Even though I was unable to dine in and had to order curbside the employees were patient and helpful. This was my first time trying Nigerian food. I was determined to try the TikTok craze fufu and egusi stew. Once ordered it took about 20 minutes to prepare as it was freshly made to order. Ok the meat pie, freshly baked dough (amazing) meat and veggies inside I didn't care for a certain spice used, it kind of overpowered the dish. I ended up taking out the meat and just eating the dough which I give 5 stars and would order again by itself. The Jallof had great seasoning and pepper I'm not Nigerian but I loved it. The suya also had great season but the texture was not like Suya I've had in the past. Granted, I did come in late for a to-go order but the suya didn't have that freshly made crunch that I love. I actually know for a fact the food was reheated which I'm neither here nor there about but because of freshness and texture wasn't the best meal I've had. I did like the flavor and I liked the raw onions that accompanied the Suya but overall wasn't Ike's (sorry). Customer service was spot on though, food came out quick (freshly microwaved), plenty of parking and overall good vibe inside. Super good beef suya and jollof rice nice big serving size and taste amazing for less than $13. Suya was not to spicy. Service is quick with little wait time if you are ordering to go. The employees were very friendly. So far one of my favorite places to stop for jollof rice and suya whenever I am in the area. I always have left overs with the portion size. My friends and I came in and ordered suya and 4 meat pies. We were told the meat pies would take an hour. 1 hour passed, we checked in with them and they still not ready. We waited an extra hour again and by the time I worked up to the counter again, she had sold 10 meat pies to someone else and then said in a rude manner that they only had 3 meat pies and if I still wanted them. What turned me off wasn't that we were one meat pie short but rather that the owners mother in law wasn't even apologetic after waiting 2 hours.
