I got the ahi tuna bowl. It tasted very bland and there wasn't a whole lot of toppings on there. I believe a key component of good poke is the flavor of sauce used. My bowl didn't appear to have any sauces and overall it just tasted very dry. So so. Came here for lunch on a Saturday and while the place was busy there were many seats open. However, the hostess was about to seat us and then suddenly decided to take our name and phone and go on to say, there's a 10 mins wait. Okay, no problem. We came back and she sat us right by the hostess, essentially cleaned up their storage table for us to sit. I go on to ask for a better seat, she said this was the only one available. This place is really cute. The inside dim but the atmosphere is great. It shares an entrance to hook and reel and you can also order of their menu We had Sarah as our waitress. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and had excellent recommendations. We started with the ahi tuna nachos and they were packed with tuna, avocado and yummy chips. Every bite was so delicious! We also got 3 lobster tacos which is their spin on sushi tacos. They were packed with meat and sooo tasty! It was a little confusing locating this place last Sunday. GPS got us to the mall and then we realized the restaurant was located inside the mall. It's best to park in the parking lot by Panera Bread. There is a mall entrance from Panera and then Kinya (aka Hook and Reel seafood bar) is on the opposite side. We had a family gathering here with 20 other people. We each ordered whatever food and drinks we wanted. I chose the spicy chicken Ramen and sweet potato fries. My Ramen bowl was alright. I don't think it was the right dish for me. However, I loved the sweet potato fries. They were crunchy and delicious. They have a variety of dishes on the menu besides Ramen, such as: poke bowls, seafood boil, po'boys, sushi tacos, takoyaki, spicy chicken wings and more. I can't name them all. I felt like I was on the set of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie because they had a lot of pirate themed decor. The restaurant is spacious with lots tables. If I'm in the area again, I'll try the seafood boil. Other people in our party ordered that and it looked good. Overall the food selection is good. The service was good. I've seen this constantly whenever I would visit Broadway Mall and decided to try it out because I have a ramen fixation these days. Confusing that the space was a shared location with another restaurant as I specifically walked in and asked for the Ramen side but it was fine same kitchen. This is a unique set up but it works well I think. It's in the Broadway Commons Mall so there's plenty of parking. I believe the restaurant has different hours than the mall. So it's a Ramen restaurant that is attached to a seafood place. Each has its own side but the good thing is you can order from both menus no matter which side your sitting on. I went for the ramen so I sat on that side but I also ordered hush puppies from the other restaurant. The food was good and the service was good too. Stopped by this restaurant after an evening at the mall. Even though we were seated at the Hook and Reel side of the restaurant, we were allowed to order off of both menus. Tonight, we had the temaki, or as they called it, "sushi tacos". We ordered the Classic and the Premium combos. The sweet shrimp was paired with a shiso leaf, and was super refreshing. That was in a tie as my favorite, along with the Yuzu scallop temaki. Honorable mention would go to the Scorched eel temaki, with a very distinct smokiness. Delicious! I almost wish I could give this place four and a half stars, because there were some small misses. For one, some of the spicy temaki filling, such as the spicy tuna and spicy crab, were quite tongue tingling! For those who are used to a mild level of spice, like a kick, may want to avoid the spicier tacos. The spicy Lobster was really good, as the undertone was not chili, but wasabi. Another miss that I found was that there was plastic covering the seaweed. Now, normally this wouldn't be a problem if it was an onigiri, but I found that because the rice ball in the Temaki was so small, tugging on the plastic sleeve would end up pulling the rice out of the seaweed, or just displacing the whole setup all together. I'm sure this is not what the sushi chef intended, but just an observation. Our server, Ivan, was awesome. Always checking in with us, making sure that everything was okay. Came in for a second time.. this time our server was Sarah. We came in with 11 people, and we ordered an entree for each person and sides to share. My friend is always extra difficult so the fact that Sarah had the patience to retake her orders and add a million extra sides and appetizers for her was props alone. We love that this is 2 restaurants in one. The dads and my friends ordered seafood. The kids ordered ramen. And I ordered my temaki. We all got what we wanted. It was super lucky we came in early and got happy hour! Instead of 2 glasses of wine, they told us that it's the same price almost as a bottle at happy hour prices so we ordered the bottle... that became bottles we had a great time and the service for once was beyond exemplary. The shrimp tempura ramen was delicious i highly recommend except that the shrimp tempura that came on the side was late and cold and didn't taste exactly like shrimp. But the soup itself was good! The spicy pork ramen with minced pork was good as told by my boyfriend but he did have an upset stomach for 2 days. We decided to get the combo which wines with a soup and appetizer (totally worth it) and we got dumplings, Takoyaki, and garlic wings. I 100% recommended the wings. You can add additional toppings and if you want it "American" size. You can add MORE NOODLES ON THE SIDE! Compare to what's out there. The value and quality is on point. Perfect winter weather food ! However, when I went to the restroom, there was no soap available and the most disgusting thing is that ~ I saw a male waiter came out from the restroom without washing his hands, then he continued serving the customers!!! (The restroom is both for male and female, and the sink is in the public area instead of the private area, so I could see that waiter didn't wash his hands!!!) This is legit our go to spot for comfort food. We discovered it a couple years ago when we went to eat before catching a movie inside the mall. The staff is always amazing - we love Millie and Ian (I know I'm spelling it wrong), along with the other staff. We are regulars at this point and have brought so many friends to come try this gem. We always get ramen combo and some sort of boil. Their soy garlic wings are delicious! I wish they would bring back the "fake boil" for those that can't have or don't like seafood.
