Really nice mom & pop type of restaurant. The host was really attentive and friendly. She answered all the questions I had about the different sushi's. It's dimly lit in there so it's a vibe. I was served a complimentary sake shot (which does not influence this review) and a glass a water even though I was there for take out, I appreciated that! The sushi sandwich was a 10/10, the flavors blew my mind. I would order the sushi sandwich 100x over. The BnM roll I wasn't necessarily a fan of because it wasn't as filling as I thought it would be. I wish there was way more crab meat in it. It was delicious nonetheless. Would 100% return again.

Ordered delivery from here so I cannot speak to what the inside is like, but the food came fast and the sushi was FRESH! The spicy Mayo was really spicy but overall I really liked this spot to order from. They have a lot of different options and it hit my sushi craving!

A Japanese joint with high ratings like Kiraza Sushi. Of course, I needed to check it out. The restaurant itself is very tiny with only three tables and a bar, but they offer pretty much everything from sushi to hibachi, from bubble tea to beer and sake. We started out with a few appetizers including Baby Octopuses, Yellowtail Jalapeño, Fried Oysters and Bubble Tea. Every dish was served in a plastic container which I find odd, but whatever. All appetizers were good. We then ordered two bottles of Kirin Ichiban. As for the main course, we ordered Sashimi Deluxe and three rolls of sushi; Eel Avocado, Salmon Skin and Spicy Crab Avocado. Sashimi was fresh, but I found sushi rolls a little sloppy. I even found some fish bones in one of them. Anyway, I was very happy with the service and how attentive our waitress was. I'd definitely come back to Kirazu for more sushi, beer and sake for sure.

Came for the food, but ended up staying for the fun! Apparently dining here means having your meal along a side of Karaoke singing! No extra charge for the mic. I looked up on Yelp for a local sushi joint that would still be open for dinner late on a Friday night in Hicksville, said they close at 10:30pm and had plenty of four star reviews. It was close to 9pm by the time I sat and ordered so I was relieved they were open and we never felt rushed while dining. Walked in, scored the last table for four! Was handed menus and then a neighboring table was passing us a mic! I heard the music and realized in a matter of seconds, that I just walked into a Karaoke dining restaurant. I had not read the reviews when I arrived but their Instagram tells us plenty. This place is very popular for their sushi rolls and their karaoke all day. In fact, staff encourages all by asking folks to pick songs. Everyone was into the scene; we were just really surprised as we didn't expect dinner and a show (provided by ourselves)! The menu has pan-Asian fare but the highlight is their sushi. The fish was fresh and plated interestingly on "take out" containers as dishware. Not sure why but I'm guessing more efficiency during Covid. Our waitress was super friendly as was the manager. This is like the "Cheers" version of a Japanese Sushi Bar. Everyone that was here this evening was on the restaurant's IG and they knew everyone's name! I was sitting with regulars and didn't know until I scanned the IG stories. Too funny. Every sushi combo we ordered was great: sake don, Chirashi and sushi and sashimi combo. We ordered a few appetizers - baby octopus was delicious. And my kids liked the potato croquettes. I was a fan of the spicy tuna tar tar but it could use some chips or seaweed to go with it. It was just one giant plate of this stuff so I would've liked to eat it with something. There's bubble tea, assorted drinks like Thai Iced Tea, and even Root Beer floats! The menu really was something to look at! Swing by for the food and get your drink on ... Fun evening out with the family. Of course when I got home, I texted all my friends about this place. Too funny.

Blown away at how delicious this spot is. the service is so attentive and the food was awesome. Portions are just the right size and they serve everything on disposable trays which was awesome. I loved it. The magi bubble tea blew me away, it's better than any bubble tea spot. I had to finish my meal with mochi ice cream, the owner surprised us with sake shots for free and i couldn't refuse!

Servers were friendly and quick. The sushi was just ok. We also order the takoyaki, don't recommend - it wasn't cooked enough and was quite liquidy. The restaurant was small and most people did takeout. We sat at the bar and had a great view of the tv and the server offered to give us the karaoke mic which was very sweet of her

This was such a cute Mom and Pop sushi spot that I stumbled across purely by accident. It's quaint, with two tables and a bar but is perfect for an intimate dinner or lunch. It was decked out in holiday decorations, which I loved!! The menu was pretty expansive with Hibachi and Mongolian dishes as well, and the prices were fair. I ordered three rolls (Shrimp Tempura, Chicken Tempure, Spicy Crab Meat Avocado) for $14.95, which wasn't too bad. I also ordered a Thai Iced Tea ($3.95), Takoyaki ($8.95), and Fried Squid ($8.95). The Thai Iced Tea was standard and I enjoyed it a lot. It was a 9/10. The Takoyaki was delicious and well made, and a solid 9/10 for me. The Fried Squid wasn't too bad, and had a good batter. I wish there were a bit more pieces. Overall, it was a 7/10. The rolls were delicious and fresh! I loved that they had such a variety of rolls, and plan to revisit to try some of the specialty rolls. Overall, 10/10! This is such a cute spot that I plan to revisit in the future. The staff was very nice and attentive, and the ambiance was very relaxing and chill. It's a great spot if you want a more intimate meal.

My husband and I decided to try this place out for our lunch date today. Since we were on a tight schedule, we decided to stay in the area. This is probably one of the few Japanese restaurants that opens at 11am on all of Long Island. It is in a secluded shopping complex about 3 minutes off the Wantagh Parkway on Stewart Ave in Hicksville with a lot so you won't have to worry about finding parking or paying for a meter. The only one negative is the limited dine-in seating because of the compact space (2 tables & 6 sushi bar seats). However, we've received top-tier customer service (being the only ones there) and all the food we had was fresh with amazing taste. We got a Thai iced tea, eel avocado rolls, eel sushi as well as some of their specialty rolls-spicy lizard roll, sunnyishan roll and sharon roll. All the sushi tasted fresh like it was off the boat and the protein vs rice ratio was perfect. My husband thought the Thai iced tea was really good and probably the top 3 in his book and that's saying alot because he is a Thai tea snob. Price maybe a little on the expensive side but it is worth the quality of food you will receive. We also got a complimentary mochi ice cream for dessert and the owner, Bobby made some intimate small talk before we left. We'll definitely be back again. If you're in the area and in the mood for some quality sushi, look no further than Kirazu!

So I'm in this shopping center often but this is my first time at Kirazu Sushi. There are about 3 dine in table plus a few seats at the sushi bar. I sat at the sushi bar with my husband. It was a busy night, lots of takeout orders and all tables filled. I really liked the vibe of the restaurant- fun music playing you want to sing along to. All other customers were returning customers, the owner greeted many by first name. Lovely waitress who was kind and the sushi chef was non stop making sushi for everyone. The staff running the restaurant said it was a busy night so the sushi might take a little longer. It wasn't an issue at all because it was so nice listening to the music they had playing on a stereo and we ordered and enjoying our night. Once the food was served, I thought my sushi was great. I'm a lover of a dragon roll and sushi sandwich and the sushi chef did a great job with the ratio of all ingredients and flavors. I was really pleased with my meal and so was my husband. Overall, it's a great spot for a casual sushi dinner for locals of the neighborhood to enjoy. I will be back!! Thanks for a great experience

I'm not a fan of sushi, but my sister is. We wanted to check this place out, and I AM SO GLAD we did! It is very tiny inside however, the hospitality beats anything I've ever received in this world. The girl, the waitress was very helpful, kind and generous. Food4/5: we ordered crab lagoon, Tom, Yum soup, four different sushi rolls and stir fry udon noodles. They were all very good, however, seemed a little salty. But still very good! Service 5/5: again, the waitress was so amazing! I admired her kindness. She offered us to do karaoke and a free shot of sake. Environment 3/5: it's a small place, but very cozy at the same time. I'll suggest either take out or a great place for you and a friend to catch up. I don't recommend this as a date spot.

Quaint mom and pop sushi shop in a secluded strip mall. Don't let the 2 tables and few bar stools fool you because their food is super fresh and relatively low priced.

$1.75 unsweetened iced tea $10.95 special roll $2.50 miso soup The miso soup was very tasty, although a smaller sized bowl - cup size I suppose. But, .... doesn't the special roll look kinda small too? Like tiny pieces ? Pops into your mouth easily, so this place is great for that date when you don't want a giant piece you can't even chew properly without looking crazy LOL The ice cream mochi? Green tea with that chocolate drizzle makes a nice touch. I would have liked more choices on the menu for special rolls, perhaps naruto roll ... idk none of them really jumped out at me so I went with spicy tuna. Overall, great service, wasn't rushed and was served promptly with a smile.

The food is probably one of the worst Asian fusion places I've had and I honestly feel like all of the money goes into presentation instead of actual quality. I've been here a few times and for some reason, have been around people that ordered takeout from here a few times so I've given them a chance more times than I should have and they have never delivered. The drinks are okay, definitely another one of those "presentation heavy" style drinks for some simple cocktails but I wont fault them for that. The real problem here is the food. I've ordered a few of their noodle dishes and it's honestly impressive how they manage to avoid having any flavor in their dishes. Like, I dont even know how you can get shrimp to taste like nothing but they've definitely done it here! The chicken I've had in their dishes is without a doubt frozen and if its not flavorless, its definitely rubbery and about as appetizing as eating a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Aside from the fact that their portion sizes are way too small for the prices they are charging. If you want Indian food, there are plenty of better options on the same street and same thing if you want Asian food. If you want to impress someone for about 5 minutes, take them to the actual restaurant, stare at some fish, get 1 drink and then high tail it out of there cause even the fish deserve better food than what they serve here.

We ordered the noodles regular so they should have had some sauce but there was none. The chicken dishes were both really good. The chicken wasn't overly fried or breaded. It tasted fresh and had a good bite to it. I like the spicy garlic chicken a bit more because of the spice. The haka chicken was more of a sweet and salty flavor. Both were tasty. ***INDO-CHINESE FLAVOR BOMB IN YOUR MOUTH*** ***SUPER…read moreFRIENDLY FAMILY-RUN RESTAURANT*** INDO-CHINESE? In the early 1800's a large number of Chinese citizens, immigrated to Calcutta, a city in the northern part of India, close to China. After becoming established, many of these immigrants started opening restaurants to support themselves. And then, because of a lack of certain ingredients, and to tailor the food to the palates of the Indian citizens, these Chinese chefs altered their recipes. And these new recipes, incorporated certain Indian spices, and a heavier use of spices and sauces - which made these new style dishes especially appealing - and created what is known today as Indo-Chinese, or Indian-style Chinese food. MASTER CHEF MIKE TENG Mike Teng, son of Hakka Chinese parents, was born and raised in India. He started cooking at 14, and eventually became a head chef preparing Indo-Chinese food in Mumbai. Then in 1984, he emigrated to the US and worked in the restaurant industry, until he became executive chef at the famous Jade Eatery & Lounge in Forrest Hills Queens. And it was here that he became notorious for his unique cuisine, and went on to receive numerous accolades. A DIFFERENT APPROACH After seven years of grueling work at Jade, Mike decided to take a break from the restaurant industry for a while. Then in 2019 he opened Teng's Restaurant, and set up operations in a way that would minimize work. As such, the restaurant would only open for dinner, between 4-11 PM, and there would be minimal table service. So let me explain how this works: You sit down at a table, and a friendly family member takes you order and helps with recommendations if necessary. And then you grab paper plates & cups, and plastic utensils from a shelf by the front counter. There's also a refrigerator here with drinks to choose from. And then the food is served to you at the table in take-out style containers. THE KEY TO ORDERING HERE There are a relatively large number of items on the menu, but most of the dishes can be broken down into a few different styles, such as Hakka Chili, Manchurian, Salt And Pepper, Orange, Szechuan, Basil, Kung Pao, and Ginger & Scallion. And the key to ordering here is to avoid choosing multiple dishes in the same style, as the meal & flavors can become one-note in nature. But if your vigilant, and pick some of the best items from each style, you will be rewarded with an Indo-Chinese flavor bomb in your mouth. FIRST TIME? GIVE THESE A SHOT So a few recommendations to try on a first visit, if you're able to enjoy spicy foods would be: - Hakka Chili Style Chicken or Beef - Salt and Pepper Style Fish Filets or Chicken - Orange Chicken or Kung Pao Chicken - Manchurian Style Fish or Chicken - General Tso's Chicken or Tofu - Ginger and Scallion Chicken - Szechuan Wontons or Momos - Orange Glazed Wings or Hakka Chili Wings - Basil Fried Rice - Hakka Noodles And here's a few vegetable recommendations: - Manchurian style Cauliflower or Salt and Pepper Cauliflower - Szechuan Potato or Potato with Black Bean Sauce - Spicy Stir Fried String Beans. - Mapo Tofu - Manchow Soup with or without meat YOU'RE PROBABLY GONNA LOVE THIS PLACE After many visits here with dozens of different people, I've noticed first-timers always react the same way when trying one of chef Teng's best dishes. Their eyes open wide, and the head starts slowly shaking side-to-side, and then I hear grunts of mmm! or wow! I mean really, it never fails to be a wonderful surprise for everyone. But don't get me wrong, not everything on the menu is a home run. For example, some of the Asian fusion dishes such as Pad Thai or Mango Chicken are just weird. So even though there are some things to overlook here, such as no lunch service, or the cafeteria style vibe, If you choose some of the chef's best dishes, for sure that flavor bomb is going to hit you right in the mouth, and you'll definitely be coming back here for more. I always do.

The prices are very reasonable for the food you get, everything came out quickly and tasty. The menu was so big, my friends and I will need to go back to try some of the other dishes. I loved how we ordered on an IPAD-it was great to see all the dishes we were ordering before we got the food. This was my first time that I went to a restaurant where all the ordering was done on an IPAD, I loved this way of looking at the menu and ordering! I do not eat red meat and there were plenty of chicken and vegetarian options to choose. I cannot wait to return to try more of the sushi as well as the soup dumplings again-so tasty! This is a GREAT place to go to before seeing a show at the Westbury Music Fair (it is only about 5-10 minutes away and the service is very quick-they almost rush you out)!

The hibachi table we sat at was impossibly close to the wall on the left as you walk in. In order to get into a seat you had to remove a chair to get into and seat yourself sideways onto the seat and then the next person would have to do the same. There were at best two servers for the room of six hibachi tables. Drink orders came after 20 minutes and then the children's drinks were forgotten. What was delivered was good, though. Hot sake and a sakatini paired with a beer. We felt bad because there was only one hibachi chef working and he had a full house. He did well and tried to provide good service even though he had to work non- stop. A good but not great show while we were being served. Not taking anything away from him because he really was swamped. Food was good and delivered either hot or cold and nothing to complain or rave about. One of the most "on par" meals I've had in a while. Prices were standard Long Island prices if not a few dollars per item elevated in comparison to other hibachi restaurants. Overall, fair for a decent meal.

This is a solid spot for Asian fusion/Chinese takeout in Hicksville!…read more Ordered a few times from here whenever I feel like binging on some americanized chinese food. They have a pretty solid selection. The food is consistently fresh and tasty, with generous portions that leave you satisfied without breaking your wallet. The standouts for me: The wonton soup is excellent. The broth is rich and flavorful, packed with plump wontons. Fried pork dumplings have a nice crispy exterior and juicy filling. Japanese-style teriyaki chicken is tender, well-sauced, and not overly sweet. Beef with mushroom. I usually sub with pork fried rice and get real greasy with it Taiwanese crispy golden chicken is super crispy and actually has a good amount of meat and not just all breading I usually enjoy eating here. It is a reliable neighborhood spot for delicious Asian comfort food Above average and definitely worth checking out!
