Mika, Kenny, Oscar and Lee were great cooks and hosts. Highly recommend for anyone, we had a great time!

Kinzan is such a solid omakase spot in the West Village! We went for the $89 set and everything was super fresh. Loved the flounder, scallop, black cod, uni, and especially the wagyu with foie gras -- melt in your mouth good. The vibe is clean and cozy, and the chef was super friendly. Definitely one of the better value omakase places in Manhattan. Will be back!

No fillers like miso soup, ice cream, or fruits. Just straight-up nigiri, sashimi, and handroll--Kinzan Omakase offers a choice of 13 courses for $69 or 16 courses for $89. You're getting good quality, properly portioned omakase experience without breaking the bank. What we had: - Flatfish Sashimi - Salmon with Yuzu - Yellowtail with Pesto - Bluefin Tuna with Truffle - Hokkaido Scallop with Sea Salt * - Seasonal Squid - Torched Black Cod with Alaska Black Mushroom * - Albacore Tuna with Crispy Chili Garlic - Hokkaido Uni - Madai with Yuzu Kusho - Toro with Caviar * - A5 Wagyu with Foie Gras * - Barbecued Eel with Popcorn * my favorites The torched black cod was a highlight, while the toro with caviar and A5 wagyu handroll were truly decadent. Some unique toppings like pesto, crunchy chili garlic and popcorn added an exciting twist. In terms of service, the chef and the waitress were friendly and attentive. They explained every course before serving. For example, we were told that the squid was a seasonal dish for only three months. They even offered sake for every table on the house when we visited. Portion-wise, it was enough for me while my bf thought 16 courses would be more filling for him. You can enjoy one more sashimi and two more nigiri if you go for the $89 set.

Let me start off by saying I'm as basic as they come when it comes to sushi. I would rather eat a whole plate of Maguro or O-Toro than try something new... but I was surprised to enjoy every piece I was served at Kinzan Omakase. I really do not like certain fish, but the chef managed to complement the tastes in such a way that I did not mind certain types I had never been interested in trying before. I honestly cannot think of something I was served that I would not eat again. I did see a reviewer who did not like the truffle added- I thought it was delicate and exceptional with the buttery tuna, but I love truffle. The restaurant itself has a very nice and relaxing vibe. The staff were all super friendly and conversational- not just knowledgeable and attentive.

So if I could I would give Kinzan a 3.5 stars. It's not a 3 stars and also I'm being generous with 4 stars. The sushi wasn't bad, it just was heavily masked by flavors like truffle oil. I really had a hard time enjoying the actual fish. Also, the service wasn't bad, it just really depends what you're looking for. I viewed it as a huge counter and they're literally trying to serve you as fast as possible. Very little explanation on what's being served. The staff are pleasant but it just it felt extremely rushed. From the list of omakase places I've been to I would rank this at the lower end.

Really enjoyed our experience here! Fish was super fresh and lots of unique combos. The sake was also delicious :)

Where else can you find a 13-course omakase for just $69?! Nice. Or go all out with the 16-course option for $89. Situated in West Village just steps away from the W 4th St stop, you'll find all your favorite nigiri and handrolls! My personal favorites - Hotate (scallop) - Unagi with rice crackers - Otoro with caviar All the pieces are a good portion and not overpacked with rice. They have some interesting toppings like pesto and candied yuzu, which I haven't seen at other omakase spots before. The service was quick and attentive and it's definitely a more casual vibe. Really enjoyed Kinzan Omakase. Simple, well-executed omakase in the West Village without any fuss. I did the 16-course menu for $89 and everything was fresh, clean, and easy to enjoy. Relaxed, low-key vibe and great value for the price. They also have a 13-course option for $69. Would definitely come back.

Kinzan Omakase is an omakase spot located in the heart of the West Village. They offer a 13 piece omakase for $69 and a 16 piece omakase (13 piece with 4 pieces sashimi and hand roll) for $89 per person. We ordered the 16 piece and the meal started off with 2 pieces of flounder sashimi and salmon sashimi. The omakase featured: - yellowtail - tuna with truffle - scallop - albacore tuna - ebi - uni - madai - A5 Japanese wagyu with foie gras - eel (Others I'm not sure about) At the end the hand roll featured salmon. Overall everything was really good! Very classic omakase spot on the more affordable end (for omakase) - would recommend!

Food (5/5): We got the $89 Omakase combo which has 13 pieces, hand roll, and 4 sashimi. My favorites were the wagyu with foie gras, el toro tuna with caviar, scallop nigiri, and salmon with ikura sashimi. Overall though all of the pieces were amazing and mega fresh! Service (5/5): Very friendly service whereby the host greeted us and had a nice convo with us. The chef looked more serious but was also polite and smiled with each piece. The pieces came out fast at a good pace and was enjoyable. They also gave us a sale on the house which was nice. Ambiance (5/5): beautiful and cozy interior decorated by many classic Japanese drinks and sakes. Has the vibe of a legit Omakase place.

Recently had dinner at Kinzan Omakase in the West Village and it was a standout experience. They offer a 13-course ($69) and a 16-course ($89) omakase -- we opted for the 16-course. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxed, and I never felt rushed; the pacing made it easy to savor each course. Service was attentive, with constant refills of water and sake, and the sake pairing is well worth it. The sushi was consistently excellent, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared, with the amberjack being my favorite for its rich texture and flavor.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable.
