My boyfriend and I went for happy hour (~5:30 PM) on a Friday night and we were seated immediately. The waiting area is quite spacious, and the overall vibe was modern. We ordered a bunch of items off the happy hour menu: sushi taco, edamame, cucumber salad, plum wine, spicy crunchy kani roll, salmon avocado roll, yellowtail roll, eel and cucumber roll, and shrimp tempura roll. We also got a miso soup. Overall, the food was quite delicious for its value. There were three sushi tacos with different types of fish. The small bowl of edamame (for $1!) was great for snacking. The cucumbers in the cucumber salad were crunchy and drizzled with dressing that resembled sesame and peanut dressing. Each of the rolls came with four pieces which is a fair amount for $6 in New York. My favorite was the yellowtail roll and my boyfriend's was the salmon and avocado roll. The miso soup was warm and delicious on a cold winter day. I think the restaurant falls short on service. I was not very impressed by the happy hour menu that had soy sauce previously spilt on it previously. It was dried by the time I got the menu, but I think that it would be better if they had recycled it. Our soy sauce jar only had a couple drops left and there were no servers in sight to ask for more (or when they were around, they were focused on their task and couldn't see us trying to get their attention). I would say that Mikado does an amazing happy hour with great value. Perhaps in the future, I'd revisit this restaurant to try out their lunch and dinner menu. read more
