Good quality sushi and decent price! Had the 18pc sashimi deluxe, and it was very worth it. Great value meal!

Walked in on a Friday at 5:51 PM and there was no wait, though it quickly filled up (it's a small spot). I tried the spicy tuna crispy rice, sushi and sashimi combination, and spicy scallop roll. Fantastic quality and great prices! Would return for their lunch specials.

Crispy rice with tuna: Made very well! The rice was super crispy and there was a good amount of tuna on top. The tuna was flavored well and chopped finely. The Jalapeño on top added a nice kick. The Zuke tuna roll was a flavor bomb full of tuna flavors. I quite liked it as it's my favorite type of fish. More fish than rice is always appreciated.

Some of the best sushi in New York. Flavors are on point and the price point is not too bad. Hidden gem in the west village very small so can be somewhat tight but service is quick.

    Greenwich roll

Nice sushi spot in the west village! The food was fresh and tasty. The Greenwich roll was delicious. Wish I had more. The spicy salmon was not spicy but it was tasty. Yellowtail jalapeño was good but a bit tiny. I will say the sushi here is on the smaller size but it makes up for it with flavor. Ambiance is a small restaurant but business seems to be consistent. The service was very slow. Again food was great but we finished 2 rolls before our last roll came out that should have come out with the rest of our food.

    Mini omakase

For such a little place, I was surprised at how great the sushi was! Kudos to the sushi chef! The mini omakase was delicious, especially the tuna, scallop, hamachi, and kanpachi. The yellowtail jalapeño roll was great. The king salmon avocado roll wasn't my favorite, but I'd definitely come back.

Came here on a weeknight looking for some quick and causal sushi. This spot is small but very cute and cozy inside. There were lots of choices and the sushi came out fresh and delicious.

This place has solid sushi for the price. You'd easily spend twice as much for sushi of this quality at other places. I was able to walk in without a reservation on a Sunday evening. The restaurant has a cozy vibe and it only seats a handful of tables. The staff were super attentive and food came quickly. I ordered some sake, a cucumber salad, and a sushi deluxe dinner set. The sushi deluxe consisted of 10 pieces of nigiri and a spicy tuna roll and was only $26!! I wasn't the biggest fan of the cucumber salad (the dressing was a little too sweet for my taste) but I was pretty blown away by the sushi quality for the price. I appreciated that they gave a variety of fish types in the nigiri selection. The pieces are very big, but I felt quite full at the end of my meal. My only complaint is that I wish it was closer to my neighborhood so I could come here more often

WE LOVE SUSHI! Sadly I have to give a 1star review. It may have been an off day- Friday, 2pm, Feb 23, 2024. Try for yourself- maybe things will become better after I write this. This teeny tiny hole in the wall, enchanted us and charmed us to come in. It can seat about 10 people. We thought we were lucky to find such a place. There were two other couples inside, so we felt safe going in. One couple seemed like regulars... It seemed like they sat there all day, talking about business and drinking tea. It's a quirky seating situation - with benches pressed smack against the wall - bring your good posture! Haha! Stacked dishes and odds n ends occupy one table so that leaves few choices to pick from. The waitress was NY style - not rude, but also not friendly. She seemed too busy for us. Didn't like to be bothered with questions. The sad part is, a few hours later, we all went to Times Square for a show... and my daughter got sick and threw up everywhere from the sushi. It's all she had eaten all day. Our last meal the night before was at 6pm. It was positively the sushi. She threw up all over her new Ugg boots, her dress. She was on her hands and knees in her stockings, in Times Square throwing up! Poor girl. It was the most embarrassing moment ever for her. We were really lucky that a lot of people rushed to help her. She had to skip the show, (there goes mom's money... that would be me!) I put her in a cab with a plastic bag to try to make it home without throwing up. She threw up all night long in our hotel room. It was miserable.? We were supposed to fly out the next morning, but I was nervous that she wouldn't be able to. (There goes more money!!) After she got all the sushi out of her, she felt fine, just tired from having been up all night throwing up. We made it back home to Washington. It was a good reminder to pick your sushi place very very carefully. Maybe coming at an odd hour, 2 PM, going to a very small place, wasn't the best idea for us. I ate the Hamachi and was just fine. My girlfriend ate the California roll and tuna roll and was also just fine. My daughter ate the eel and the prawns tempura and got really sick. Maybe it was the oil??? I would never want to blame a restaurant, for something that I didn't believe was true. My daughter hadn't eaten anything else... not even breakfast, and got sick three hours after eating here. I didn't take more pictures... but this is my daughter and my friend.

Delish and fresh. The pieces are delicate and melt in your mouth. Won't break the bank!! Very reasonable

I went for lunch and got the three roll special with spicy salmon, spicy tuna and salmon mango. Rolls were fresh especially for only $15.95. Service was good and quick. It's a smaller place but when I went I was able to sit immediately. Good for dining alone or going with a friend.

a small shop but they do have some seating. was busy when I went so I don't know how quickly you could get seated , but I got take out. everything was ready fairly quick. their crispy rice was good and their other rolls were about average but no complaints here--good for when you have a sushi craving and in the area

    yes . We do

Someone posted that they got a free appetizer with their Yelp Check In at Umami Sushi. Do you just need to mention Yelp to get that? Also see a 10% discount with Yelp mention last November when they first opened, wondering if that still applies.

yes check in yelp will get free appetizer. But we don’t do 10% any more, only for opening. Thx

I felt like I had to speak a bit louder at times. Service was amazing, they were helpful the entire way. Raku is a bit hidden without much signage so we almost missed it but luckily our friend was already there. Simple udon, nothing fancy but they get to be consistent and comforting. I thought the appetizer we got was better than the udon, but the udon itself was good too! Wagyu Kushiage - deep fried wagyu beef? Amazing. Delicious. Succulent. The beef was juicy, tender, and extremely flavorful. Tons of juice and moisture flowed out when bitten, the meat had potential to melt in mouth if thin. Deep fry was light to give respect for the beef. Frozen grapes at the end for dessert! It's not much but definitely a cute gesture. Toriten - firstly, glad they offered the chicken on the side. It's fried chicken so would definitely get soggy in broth. Said chicken was so soft, tender, and juicy. Also a light, soft deep fry. Udon itself was calming and comforting, but not particularly special. Just very well made udon.

Even before the food arrives, the restaurant leaves a strong impression with its stunning Japanese-inspired interior. The space is beautifully designed, blending warmth and elegance in a way that feels both inviting and refined. From the soft lighting to the natural wood accents and thoughtfully arranged decor, everything about the atmosphere feels intentional. It captures the intimate charm of a traditional izakaya while still feeling modern and stylish, making it a wonderful setting for anything from a casual dinner to a more special night out. The food more than lived up to the beauty of the space. One of the first highlights was the salmon onigiri, a dish that proved how satisfying simplicity can be when it is done well. The rice was soft, fresh, and perfectly formed, holding together without feeling too compact, while the salmon added a savory richness that made each bite feel comforting and flavorful. It was balanced, delicate, and deeply satisfying in a way that made it memorable despite its simplicity. The seared salmon salad was another standout. The salmon itself was beautifully prepared, with a lightly seared exterior that gave it a subtle crispness, while the inside remained tender, buttery, and smooth. That contrast in texture made the dish especially enjoyable. Paired with the freshness of the salad, it felt light and refreshing, yet still substantial enough to feel like more than just a side dish. It was a dish that managed to feel both clean and indulgent at the same time. The grilled squid was particularly impressive and easily one of the most memorable items of the meal. Squid can often be difficult to get right, as it can become rubbery or overly chewy if even slightly overcooked, but that was absolutely not the case here. The texture was spectacular--tender, delicate, and pleasantly springy without any toughness. Each bite had a light smokiness from the grill that added depth, while the squid itself retained its natural sweetness. It was expertly prepared and showcased a level of precision that really stood out. For the main courses, both the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Black Pepper Ramen delivered distinct experiences, each with its own appeal. The Tonkatsu Ramen was deeply comforting and satisfying, with a broth that had a rich, velvety texture and a full-bodied depth that coated the palate beautifully. It felt smooth, hearty, and luxurious without being too heavy. The noodles had an ideal texture as well--firm enough to provide a satisfying bite, yet soft enough to soak up the broth and integrate perfectly into the dish. Altogether, it was a bowl that felt warming, balanced, and incredibly comforting. The Black Pepper Ramen, on the other hand, brought a bolder and more assertive flavor profile. The broth had a smooth, glossy texture, and the noodles again had a pleasing chew that gave the dish structure and substance. The black pepper added an unmistakable warmth and aromatic intensity that made the ramen stand out immediately. It was flavorful and memorable, though the pepper was slightly overwhelming at times. A bit less black pepper would have allowed the other flavors in the broth to come through more clearly and created a more balanced bowl. Even so, the ramen was still enjoyable, especially for those who appreciate strong, pepper-forward flavors. Overall, Izakaya Fuku is a restaurant that succeeds on every level. The stunning Japanese interior creates an atmosphere that feels both immersive and elegant, while the food reflects a real attention to detail in both flavor and texture. From the comforting salmon onigiri, to the fresh and beautifully prepared seared salmon salad, to the expertly grilled squid with its exceptional texture, and finally the rich and satisfying ramen dishes, every part of the meal felt carefully executed. It is a place that offers not just excellent food, but a complete dining experience, and it is well worth visiting for anyone looking for standout Japanese cuisine in New York.
