Food was so amazing and a good omakase choice if you want something a bit cheaper but still want an experience. Service was awesome and always love watching the chefs prepare the sushi in front of you. Great vibes all around, would love to try their big salmon nigiri's to go!

We were celebrating a birthday, did the Omakase, and made reservations before hand. Place was super cute and clean and the ambiance was amazing, it felt very personal with such a small group. Our chef was super attentive, he even noticed that I like to split my sushi in half so he started to cut my piece in half for me before serving it. He was super sweet. Tip: You even get a free sushi cake cake for your birthday to make sure you let them know on the reservation!

When my friend messaged me after work about going to an omakase place, I immediately started preparing myself for my wallet to cry. As I was ordering ramen to sustain myself for my inevitable future, she messaged me not to worry because this was a reasonably priced place. I thought she was joking because reasonably priced omakase has to either be an oxymoron or not high quality fish. Walking in the setting was like a traditional omakase. An intimate u shaped table where the sushi chef will place the food fresh off the board, but it still felt very cozy. Every dish put before me was uniquely flavored. However, the fresh, carefully prepared meat was a consistent factor. The service was warm and you can tell how much thought they put into both the dishes and your experience. If you want a great quality omakase for anything from a casual dinner to a date night without breaking the bank then this is the place to go.

i got the salmon sushi set, which comes with 8 HUGE pieces of salmon nigiri. i'm blown away by how buttery soft the salmon pieces were, how well seasoned the sushi rice was, and (most importantly) how this whole set only costs $30. this was my first time ordering takeout from sanyuu west, but definitely not my last! note: you do have to order this ahead of time by texting the number listed on their website. i was able to place an order the night before & scheduled it for pick-up right when they opened at 5pm. very smooth process & you pay when you pick it up!

They have indoor dining or takeout options. I opted to order takeout. I ordered the omakase sets and the salmon nigiri and both were great! You can find their takeout menu on their website and text the number listed to order. I ended up placing the order the night before for pickup the following evening and they were very accommodating. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. The omakase sets were $69 each and the salmon nigiri is $30. We liked the omakase sets but honestly the star of the show for us was the giant salmon nigiri which is unbeatable for the price. You get 8 huge nigiri with generous large pieces of salmon on each! I would come back over and over again for this. Pickup was easy and quick and the item was ready for me as promised. They also made sure to pack us adequate utensils and everything you need to enjoy the omakase at home including soy sauce. Definitely try this spot out if you're a sushi lover or love salmon!

100 more of these please!!!!!!!! 8 salmon nigiri's (GIANT) were $30. SUCH A STEAL! It's takeout only Would definitely come back to try their omakase bc the quality of the salmon was great

Came back after a few years and it still did not disappoint. The food was amazing. Every piece that was served was quality. The omakase experience was 15 courses. We didn't feel rushed and the service wasn't slow. You can also order from their take-out menu like the 9 piece salmon nigiri. Their Big Mac was amazing and felt like magic in my mouth. Overall a 10/10 experience and would come back to try their other specialty pieces.

Love Sanyuu! They recently raised the price to $87 pp but the quality is worth it. It's surprising but I start getting full around course 5 (out of 15). They only have a few small seatings per day with each about an hour. It's fine to get there a few minutes late and they'll just pace faster -- two chefs in the middle that can kind of serve the parties separately. Im gluten free which they accommodate, even providing GF soy sauce. Generally you can request to substitute certain fishes and they seem to have go-to backups. It's a very quiet and intimate setting so you can still have a convo without facing each other. Once went for a small celebration and at the end they gave us complimentary caviar hand rolls! Truly such kind people and tasty fish.

Went to the city for a little getaway weekend and so glad we came here for dinner! Shoutout to Nina the sushi queen on TikTok for this rec! Every piece was fresh, the rice was fantastic, and there was really a lot of attention to detail here. Everything was amazing! It was my first true omakase experience and I will never forget it. Amazing 10/10!

I liked this place considering it's somewhat of a value omakase spot. For $87/15 pieces, it's pretty good. I think that it's among the top under $100 omakase in the city right now based on the quality of the fish and how many pieces you get. I thought their otoro and sea bream were quite good. I'd go back again!

Cozy omakase place were you sit at the bar, the experience was pretty fast pace but for the price of what you get it was pretty worth it : $78 for 15 pieces. The chefs were super nice and explained each piece well, and kinda chatted with us as well but their main focus was definitely pushing out the pieces. The service was super attentive as we had pretty quick refills on water/tea and were asked about any allergens, etc. Selection wise had a good amount of variety, and some pieces had some wow to it like adding chili crispy to a tuna nigiri! Each piece tasted pretty fresh and by the end of the course we were pretty satisfied and full. Notable faves: Otoro The Mac( toro, Wagyu, foie gras, uni ) Scallop Salmon w/ foie gras

Sanyuu West delivered one of the best omakase experiences I've had in NYC. We were running a little late, and the chef graciously accommodated us, setting the tone for a welcoming evening. Every course was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh, with delicate textures and vibrant flavors that highlighted the quality of each ingredient. From the rich toro to the perfectly seasoned rice, each bite felt thoughtfully crafted. Another honorable mention was the salmon foie gras. It was such a killer combo. So much flavor! The attention to detail throughout the meal was exceptional. I can't wait to come back--it was an unforgettable dining experience and among the best omakase meals I've had in NYC.

Came here because we wanted to try their huge salmon nigiri and we weren't disappointed! It was about $35 for the whole set. We accidentally came in during their lunch break believe it right before opening (5pm) but they still let us order for takeout! Very kind staff! As for the food, the rice was very yummy and the salmon was huge and supple. It was simple but very good and this set was enough for my bf and I to feel pretty satisfied.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

The cucumber salad was also very good and flavorful. karaage was just okay and can be skipped. The corn dessert was really cool and the ube tiramisu really had the yam flavor. The katsu was very, very moist on the inside, with a crispy batter that was so light it was almost flavorless. I honestly couldn't really tell the difference between the tenderloin and pork loin. Overall the dish had a very light flavor and I added quite a bit of sauce and wasabi. Some of the less memorable dishes were the eggplant agebitashi and truffle rice. The eggplant agebitashi tasted like a cross between an eggplant parm and a bolognese. The truffle rice had a very strong truffle flavor that ended up overpowering everything else in the dish. I thought the slices of raw button mushrooms were a little strange. I really enjoyed the sabazushi. The pieces of mackerel were thick and carried a lot of that characteristic mackerel oily flavor, but the oiliness was cut by enough vinegar to balance everything out. The niku udon was also a surprise hit. The noodles were wide, flat, super slurpy, and the broth carried a deep umami flavor. Overall, I had a pretty solid experience here.

We were seated at the bar to get the full experience of the omaskase as that's what we were going to order that night. It was fairly busy that night and fairly small inside. The tables sit behind the sushi bar and are fairly close to it. We did the Sushiro Omakase which comes with a few appetizers to start with, some nigiri, a few handrolls, and dessert to finish it off. They also have a drink (alcohol and non-alcohol selection) to choose from. The fish quality for the most part was very good. My favorites were the chu toro, wagyu, and uni. The cod was pretty exceptional as well. As each piece came out the chef explained which each nigiri or handroll was made out of it or the type of fish. At times it was pretty hard to hear him since the chef was more soft spoken. There is another waiter that checks in on you and offers refills. We were pretty lucky that the chef gave us another handroll on the house. You can also order a la carte one your are done with the Omakase. Overall a great handroll and omakase. You can sit down and really take your time to enjoy the fish or be in and out. It's not an establishment that forces either. We never felt that rushed to leave once we were done. There are also some asian candies you can grab on the way out as well!
