(Shopped 04/29/24 MO @ 4:30pm): Lesson learned... I didn't come in for natural food or vitamins; I…read morecame and took advantage of their parking! I ended up at Lassens Natural Foods & Vitamins' Mid-Wilshire location as a parking hack for an event I was attending across the street at All Season Brewing. I made a couple of passes on the local streets with no luck, so I entered into their inviting large parking structure that they apparently shared with other businesses, and went inside to scope out the joint, and out of some guilt, made any kind of purchase as a sort of payment for parking. Would this odd experience leave any sort of lasting impression on me!? PURCHASE Larabar - Various Flavors ($1.29 x5): Among the five flavors I purchased (e.g. Cashew Cookie, Banana Bread, Pecan Pie, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Cocoa Coconut Chew), my favorite was the pecan pie and how it truly represented this Thanksgiving dessert but in a handy packable bar form. I actually enjoyed all of them and this brand as a whole. If you knew me, I always had some kind of granola or nutrition bar on me as a quick snack option or substitute while I was on the go. Each bar filled me up like those Snickers commercials and normally held me over until my next full meal! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=9IpWA5iKRMcDT1xMuGCIkg SERVICE I casually roamed throughout the store as I went down each aisle as if I were casing the joint without anyone asking whether or not I needed any help (which was fine). I finally found something that wouldn't cost me too much and knew I liked it, so I scored. The young man at the checkout counter was chill, rang my items up, and when I asked him about parking validation, he easily handled that for me - thank you! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance) I believed they shared a parking structure with other businesses in this complex and validated your parking if you shopped with them. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of parking along the main drags of La Brea Ave. and 8th St., respectively, and all surrounding side streets, if you were lucky enough to find an open spot. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE This was a smallish grocery store with every inch seemingly maximized. The aisles were a bit snug, while they appeared to have a decent deli and prepared section. There was only one checkout area, so this truly felt like a local neighborhood version of their much larger stores such as the one I've shopped at before in Echo Park. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large surrounding windows while many electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I couldn't recall any TVs nor any background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL For the ultimate reason that brought me to Mid-Wilshire's Lassens Natural Foods & Vitamins location, I gave it two thumbs up! And, for the items I settled on purchasing, another kudos. However, this place wasn't exactly for me nor was this particular location. For all of the health food nuts, I'm sure this was perfect for them; however, the closest I got to this would be Trader Joe's and maybe an extremely rare trip to a Whole Foods. The product mix again appeared to be limited due to the size of this store, the prices were a tad high based upon my standards, and the service was straightforward which I was fine with. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $8.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

I had stopped by on Thursday evening, but by the time I got there, most of the ice cream was already sold out. I figured there would be a much better selection if I went early in the morning, so even though it was the weekend, I headed there almost as soon as I woke up. As I expected, there were plenty of ice cream flavors available early in the morning, which made me really happy. I ended up buying three flavors: Van Leeuwen Dubai Style Chocolate Cone, Van Leeuwen Sicilian Pistachio, and McConnell's × See's Candies Vanilla California Brittle. I tried all three, and every single one was absolutely delicious. I also picked up some organic mustard and white balsamic vinegar. When I checked out, a young male employee helped me. I asked him if the 50% discount on the ice cream was for Amazon Prime members, and he confirmed that it was. Then I asked him how to show that I was an Amazon Prime member, and he kindly explained the process. He even put all of my groceries into the shopping bag I had brought with me. He was very friendly and helpful, which made my shopping experience even better. When I was picking out the ice cream, an employee who was stocking items nearby kindly held the freezer door open for me. I really appreciated that as well. He suddenly held the door, so I looked up in surprise. He said he was just trying to help, so I thanked him I also love that Whole Foods Market is within walking distance of my home. It's so convenient, and they always have a great selection of high-quality products. Just a heads-up: The 50% off ice cream promotion for Amazon Prime members runs through July 7th. If you're not an Amazon Prime member, you can still get 44% off instead.

I believe there is a $5 minimum purchase but it is not really enforced. I've also gotten a berry chantilly matcha with oat milk at the coffee bar here, and it was delicious and only $5.25!! What a steal for matcha in this economy. Recently, I I came here just for the matcha again but the coffee bar was closed sadly :/ leading me to dock off one star. If you're coming in just for the amazing and affordable drinks, would recommend calling the store to confirm if their coffee bar is open!

Now I am finding out for myself that it is just as any other market where in this economy, it benefits for me to research online for sales and weekly ads. One of things I realized is that I was sleeping on their coffee bar! This Whole Foods is surrounded by many restaurants, trending eateries and coffee shops that it is easy to overlook what Whole Foods can offer. The staff working at the coffee and juice bar are amazing! My current favorite is the berry chantilly iced latte. The honey latte and the brown sugar cookie latte are both very good but the berry chantilly is my current favorite. It is strong, not-too-sweet and well made for $5 and that is for a large. You can also have alternative milk like almond or oat at no extra charge! The deli and bakery are also great but I have been getting their pizza slices for an inexpensive lunch. Where nearby pizza spots are selling their slices for $7-$8 a slice (which I get why it is priced that way), Whole Foods has them at the self serve area for one slice at $4.50 or 2 for $8. I work near the area and though I love that I am in foodie heaven, sometimes I just need something a bit more simple and reasonably priced. Whole Foods pizza can be artisanal just as any other pizzerias. This week, they had elote pizza and it reminds me of the viral elote pizza that was invented by Rose City Pizza. It is pretty good and definitely closer to me than Covina.
