If you need to spoil yourself or someone special, look no further. The $85 for the 3 course menu is well worth it. We left feeling satiated, happy and definitely want to return. We shared bites of each other's food so really got to appreciate the alchemy of the food. The staff were wonderful, the ambiance was modern and well taken care of. For the starter we shared the oysters, Dungeness crab cake (#2), and the gravlax of steelhead (#1). For entrees tried the grilled rack of lamb chops, day boat scallops, and filet of rainbow brook trout. The scallops were our fave and the trout placing second. read more

I'll start by saying my husband and I had a very nice meal, the food was all cooked well and flavors were nice. However we came away slightly disappointed considering this should be a nice occasion restaurant and didn't think it was worth the $300 price tag (we split a bottle of wine with the $85 per person menu). Here's why: - Everything we had we said was good, but weren't blown away by at all. It was all very standard and uninspiring. The environment feels somewhat sterile - I had the tenderloin of beef for my main. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked (it was served at a standard medium rare and very tender, I was just surprised they didn't ask). Felt like they just wanted it to be convenient for them, almost like a catered dinner. - I was not offered a steak knife with my steak. After taking my first bite cutting the filet with a butter knife, I asked the server for a steak knife. He then said they don't have any and asked if it was tough, and then said it has never been a problem... while I could cut through it with the butter knife without completely hacking at it, a nice filet like that should be cut through cleanly especially at a fine dining restaurant. - We came here for our 5th wedding anniversary. This was noted when we made the reservation and no one said happy anniversary or asked what we were celebrating, etc. This added to the sterile feeling and didn't make it feel special. - The amuse-bouche was a watermelon feta salad. It was pleasant, but something I'd make at home for a backyard bbq. It did not set the tone for a special fine dining dinner. It's unfortunate we don't have fine dining in Vancouver, but I think there are much better places to go to for a nice dinner (especially the restaurant next door) and recommend going into Portland if you're looking for anything else. read more

My wife's scallops a little less so, but still delicious. Because it was a prescribed three-course meal, I'll be back to see how the menu options change. My only real actionable suggestion is to consider replacing the chairs on the other side of the cushioned 'bench'. They are hard and uncomfortable over the course of a 1+ hour meal. read more

Kismet Restaurant absolutely saved our Valentine's Day--and then proceeded to exceed every expectation we had. After another restaurant overbooked and left us scrambling, Kismet graciously accommodated a late reservation and turned what could have been a disappointment into an unforgettable evening. From the moment we walked in, the entire staff set a warm, vibrant tone that carried through the whole night. The space itself is beautiful--modern fine dining with an inviting warmth that feels elevated yet comfortable, never stuffy. Every plate, from appetizers through dessert, was expertly prepared and thoughtfully plated. Portions were just right, ingredients were clearly high quality, and the execution was spot on across the board. The U10 scallops were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The tenderloin steak was tender, rich, and cooked with precision. The crab cake was incredible--easily one of the best we've had--and dessert was truly outstanding, the kind you talk about long after the table is cleared. To cap off the night, we asked the bartender if they could make an off-menu Nirvana bourbon cocktail. Not only did they say yes--they delivered the best version we've ever had, perfectly balanced and expertly crafted. Service was exceptional throughout. Our waiter, Kevin, was polished, professional, and genuinely attentive. Lacy, the manager, was warm and welcoming, clearly running a tight ship with care and pride. The bartender was fantastic, and the rest of the staff made the entire experience feel seamless and special. Kismet didn't just rescue our Valentine's Day--they made it memorable. Was looking for somewhere new for dinner in Vancouver and realized a new 3 course dining spot had popped up so we had to go! This is a very cozy bright spot with great food and great service. I went with my husband so we were able to try a bunch of things, including: oysters, gravlax, beef tenderloin, pan fried duck breast, lemon creme brulee, and their apple galette. Everything was amazing but the gravlax, tenderloin, and galette were definitely the highlights! They have a good beer and wine menu but note that they do have a bar! While I get what vibe they are trying to do with this place, I wouldn't recommend or return here. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, I am a foodie and happy to support restaurants but I would say the price tag does not warrant what you get. The servers were nice but seemed very stressed out and were confusing orders, I don't think it's their fault they just need additional staff. They were out of several items on the menu so my boyfriend and I ended up splitting a few of the dishes because we didn't like some of them and the dishes are small. At the end of the meal he looked at the check and said he couldn't believe i spent that much on this meal and it's the first and last time and unfortunately I agree, it's not worth the price. The lights are very bright and I get the communal feel but most people there seemed to be on dates or with their family and you're seated so close together it's just awkward and and people seemed uncomfortable. read more

Spent our date night eating at this new restaurant in Vancouver and it was wonderful! Our server was a lot of fun and did an amazing job. The food was amazing, my espresso martini was superb, and the deserts were excellent. Were I to be nit picky, I would say the duck could have been crispier. While it tasted great, the parts that had that crisp were just next level, so if that could have been more uniformed it would elevated it. The bread and butter could have had a little something more. Perhaps even a salty butter, or flavored in some way. It was just not exciting. Keep in mind, those are just nit picky critiques! I will definitely be order the duck again so I was in no way disappointed. And I would absolutely recommend the apple dessert with the caramel! Thank me later. We thought about trying Kismet for way too long, and we've spent our "fine dining" budget at a few places over recent months that sometimes didn't feel worth it. This is worth it. Everything is made so incredibly well it's hard to describe, other than to say each dish was delicate, unique, and deeply flavorful on its own. I found myself saying "I've never had [food] so [delicate, delicious, perfect]" for every dish, and it didn't feel like exaggeration. Weirdly, we were the only table at that time on a Wednesday night, but there's some gnarly construction on the street right now (they have their own parking), and Prix Fixe might seem too extravagant these days, but it was very easy to get in and very easy to rationalize the cost (on par with our other finer dining in the area) once we started eating. It's a great, tall space, modern with subtle color/decoration, and gentle lighting. The host/manager was on hand, and guided us through some of the current menu. We completely loved our selections for each course (and sharing them with each other), and gladly would have ordered any of the other dishes after having tried even the few we could. Before anything the chef sent out a plate with two small, Grilled Gruyere Panini bites (5/5). We started with a bottle of Cabernet, the Crab Cake (5/5), and the Ravioli (4.8/5 as it was a little too al dente but with unbelievably good filling and sauce that went well with their thin-sliced, toasted, table bread). For our mains we went the red meats route, Beef Tenderloin (5+/5) and Lamb Chops (5/5). Last, for dessert we had the Myer Lemon Crème Brûlée (5+/5) and the Gelato (5/5 but have a feeling if I went with strawberry for a Neapolitan instead of espresso it would have gone higher). I think we'll save up our dining budget for another visit, sometime in the next month or two, since I'm not terribly interested in trying anything else until I can try more of Kismet's. I have only been to a handful of Prix Fixe experiences, but it's hard to imagine a better experience than this. The meal we shared with friends was delicious. it is a fixed three course menu. I have a scallops and my husband had the pork tenderloin, but the star of the show was my friends steak. The apple tart for dessert what was the best of the choices I think, but each item was still really good. my only complaint is that I feel like our $170 dinner for 2, before drinks and tip should've been around $130 max ($65pp). The portions are very small. other than it being overpriced for what you were getting, it was a very good meal. read more

The wife and I went here for NYE and loved it! The only critique I have is on the ambiance. The lighting was too bright for the setting - if you guys have a dimmer I strongly suggest you play around a bit. They also were having issues with the music setup, so the songs would just cut out randomly. Our server was personable and had suggestions at the ready between food and wine. We also could hear him updating the kitchen with our reactions, which is always great. Aside from the little tweaks needed, every course was excellent and their wine list is plentiful and reasonably priced for the level of cuisine they offer. It was a Thursday evening about a month ago. We were in Portland and we were hungry. I did a search for best food near me. KISMET was near the top, good reviews and in Vancouver! I called to see if we could get in. They said no problem. We showed up and quickly understood why they had space efor us. Construction out front limited access. However, parking in the rear was convenient. We were the only ones in the pla es and started having second thoughts. When we realized Kismet was a course menu, we almost left but the server assured us the food was amazing. I ordered the lamb chops, my wife had the filet. Both were exceptional! The sides were perfect as well. Great seasoning. Perfect medium rare on both meats. Then dessert came, I had the cherries cobbler I believe and my wife had the creme brulee, again incredible! Such a pleasant surprise to find such great culinary skill in Vancouver Wa. We will certainly be back. read more

Tried this new restaurant in Vancouver downtown. They just had a soft opening last week and I heard about it. They have a fixed price three course menu with plenty of options. The meal comes with a bread service and an amuse-bouche (an appetizer to your appetizer) to start your meal. The amuse-bouche was a single bite Gruyère panini that was very good. I had the crab cakes as an appetizer and my companion had the mushroom risotto. Crab cakes were amazing. The risotto was very rich, we both preferred the crab cakes. For the dinner we both ordered the Tenderloin of beef. It was served on a bed of creamed potatoes and spinach. The beef was very tender and delicious but the funny thing is that I'm actually going to say the spinach was the star of the plate! Three course meal so I ordered the lemon crème brûlée and my companion the gelato. Both were excellent. The strawberry gelato was our favorite (you get a serving of 3 flavors of gelato from 5 choices). The service was fantastic and the restaurant is new and shiny. Very cozy yet upscale. We tried Kismet last night and wanted to share our experience. We were greeted and seated quickly. We both liked the vibe. It's intimate, thoughtful, and focused on what matters: exceptional food and a cohesive dining experience. The space leans minimalist but warm, letting the food take center stage rather than competing with it. Lacy the manager was warm and welcoming. She helped select our wine and dinner selections. The food was exceptional, the smoked pork was tender and juicy. The scallops were some of the best I ever had, and I like the pairing with the fennel and blood orange pairing. This place has a nice vibe, courses prepared by an actual chef, and bottled wine with prices not really different than what you find in stores instead of wines with the usual 300% or 400% markup.
