I promised my wife crab legs as a treat after the recent birth of our second son, and she was more than willing to take me up on the offer. Being somewhat immobile due to...well, having just given birth, that meant the crab needed to come to her. Awesome husband to the rescue! Discovering that our favorite crab-slinging food cart was in the process of relocation, we needed to look elsewhere, and decided to give Yummy Crab a shot. Picking up her full order of Dungeness legs, medium hot, Cajun style, and bring it back home, it thankfully arrived intact, un-spilled, and still piping hot! Gauging by the carnage left behind, I'd say she enjoyed it. In fact, she said Yummy Crab probably ranked as her second favorite crab restaurant, which is pretty high praise: we've have had some mediocre and underwhelming experience elsewhere, and were glad to buck the trend. Although it's a little out of the way, across the river from home, we're in the Vancouver Mall area often enough that the chance of stopping in, and dining in person, the next time the crab craving overtakes her, is pretty darn high.

I've been here twice for to-go orders, and as much as I'd like to rate this place more highly, it just doesn't warrant it. On the plus side, "Fish and chips" portion sizes are very generous for the price. That's the only plus. On the "not great" side: * Flavors are just not good. The crab cakes were as pedestrian as they come. The clam chowder was just weird...lacking in flavor, and what little flavor was there was just "off" * ALL fried items taste of fish, clearly indicating that they same fryer and fry oil is used for all fried items * Prices for seafood boil items are obscenely expensive * Quality control is bad. The packet of (factory-made) oyster crackers with the clam chowder was completely stale * Their "popcorn chicken" is weird...whatever it is, it looks like spongy foam rubber, and has a peculiar taste * Service is not very attentive. I've only gotten to-go orders (twice), and both times, I had to wait five to ten minutes for anybody to acknowledge my presence On my most recent (and what will be my last) visit, I was told that my to-go order would be ready in "about ten minutes". There was only one party of diners in the entire restaurant at the time. It took them right at 35 minutes to get my order to me. I really wish they'd told me it would be a 35-minute wait, so that I could have gone somewhere else instead.

Ordered 1/2lb. snow crab legs and rec'd JUNK! I couldn't believe when I opened my to-go order- the legs were small. No napkins/wet wipes/or utensils. 1 of the 4 (not 5) legs was partially missing. There was barely any meat!! I can't believe I spent $22.00 onthis. If I had thought first I would have pulled the actual meat from my legs and weighed. The person I dealt with was friendly upon my pickup. ( My only regret was not observing the food I just purchased).

Glad they opened one in Vancouver so we don't have to travel to Portland if we don't have the time to. Ample parking outside and we were seated quickly. I had the 1lb of snow crab legs, with all the seasonings mixed and medium spice. It was good. Crab steamed perfectly so no sticking to the shell. And the seasonings were good also. My dad had the crab legs and shrimp combo, and added class, garlic butter seasoning, no spice. Bill was a little over $100 for two people, with two fountain drinks and one appetizer.

Super fun place for a date with my husband! The staff is super friendly, helpful and attentive. The restaurant is clean and has fun, kitschy decor. They have booths and tables available inside the dining area. It's located in a strip mall next to Angel Donuts. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. The menu has many seafood options including crab, shrimp, oysters, clams, catfish, tilapia, and calamari. They offer boils and fried fish baskets with fries. The baskets come with both tartar and cocktail sauces. The boils come with bibs, gloves and wipes. We ordered a boil with half a pound of shrimp and half a pound of crawfish, and the combo fried fish basket with catfish and shrimp. All the fish tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. We chose the garlic butter old bay seasoning for our boil flavor. It was really good! The batter on the fried fish had a nice flavor and wasn't too heavy or greasy. We really enjoyed our first visit and are looking forward to our next! The pricing is very reasonable for fresh fish options. There is nothing like it in Vancouver that I know of. If you're looking for a fun experience and fresh seafood, I would highly recommend.

I apparently hit them on a bad day last time. My best friend loves their food so she convinced me to try again. I had the fried calamari appetizer and clam chowder. The calamari was a generous portion and cooked perfectly. Very tender. The clam chowder was fine. I think it's a matter of your personal preference. My friend raves about it. Definitely give it a try and decide where you are on the spectrum. My husband had the shrimp fried rice and liked it. A nice amount of shrimp on it. Virginia gave us good service. So I changed my mind. I will be back.

I was out late in the area with my kiddos and was looking for some quick eats when I stumbled upon this restaurant. I called them about fifteen minutes before closing. I wasn't expecting much, but they answered with cheer in their voice. When I arrived on a Monday night, it was near empty save for some customers waiting on to-go orders. The restaurant itself I thought was pretty cute, albeit empty as they were about to close and cleaning up. I can definitely see this place being livelier during busy days. When the food arrived, it was packaged really really well. I guess this is standard practice for seafood boils, but in my case I ordered fried foods so I tore open the containers as quickly as possible to preserve texture. They also supplied sauces and utensils which was nice of them! The catfish was seasoned perfectly and cooked really well. It was a little thinner than I'd like myself but my kids loved it, so it's probably a preference thing. I was surprised at how well they cooked their fries. Crispy on the outside and very fluffy on the inside. My kids were excited to come back and try it again, so next time I hope to try their seafood boils when I have time to sit down.

What a wonderful place to have lunch. A hidden little Jim, they shouldn't be hidden. The food was wonderful. The service was outstanding and the ambience. Well, it speaks for itself. I had the deep fried oysters and clam chowder, my wife had the shrimp with french fries and hush puppies, and we both walked out of their very satisfied. If I was gonna complain about anything, it's the fact you can't find a place :-) it should be a giant billboard out front :-) thank you and we highly recommend it.

Yes, finally, a seafood place in Vancouver amongst an over abundance of repetitive offerings. We hand an incredible experience, devouring every bit of our meal with satisfying grunt and groans of pure bliss. We had a pound each of snow crab and Dungeness crab, a half pound of mussels, and a half pound of shrimp. We opted for the Old Bay seasoning and a side of toast. This was absolutely one of the most enjoyable meals we've had in a long time. We will definitely be returning on a regular basis. Lastly, our server, Ayleen, was a real pleasure to chat with. She was super helpful, cheerful, and attentive. Atmosphere is comfy, and decorations remind us of the sea. We felt that overall, and given the quality of the food and service, Yummy Crab is a great value and fun experience.

Stopped in for lunch on the weekend. Lunch menu doesn't apply during the weekends. Friendly and attentive staff. We ordered the combo fried basket- catfish/tilapia/shrimp and an order of popcorn chicken. Generous portions. The shrimp were jumbo sized and fish were large peices. The fries were the right amount of crispy, very good! Popcorn chicken was soft and good too. Though we would consider they were more like mini chicken nuggets. We would come back to try other items!

Date night was absolutely delicious and such a good choice for what I was craving and it definitely hit the spot!

Our server was friendly and quick. She answered questions and described the specials. They have gluten free focaccia!!!! It was super yummy, but it was also served kinda cold. Worth it. We ordered the fresh catch, which was halibut with some potatoes and grilled asparagus. The accompanying sauces were delicious. The asparagus was good. The white potatoes though had been cooked previously and weren't reheated enough. They were described as new potatoes but were definitely large chunks of russets. They were hard to eat. So we didn't. We also had the Punta di Fesa which is a braised beef dish with mushrooms on polenta. The balsamic mushrooms and polenta were so flavorful and delicious. It was a good thing that my husband started with this dish (we traded halfway through and had plenty to eat!) because I would have eaten his share of the polenta too. The beef however was dry and not what I would have expected from a braised beef. When we were given a knife, we were told we probably wouldn't need it. We did. The service here was friendly and helpful. Our server was knowledgeable about gluten free needs and recommended a great bottle of wine that went well with our fish AND the beef (which is tricky...yummy Chianti AND half price!). It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night at 7. There were people that ended up waiting but not too long. There are shelves of Italian goods all around you. My husband said he felt like he was eating in a store. You kind of are, but it was still cozy. I plan to come back to try the gluten free pasta and maybe a lunch sandwich if they have solid gf options there. Also, the dessert menu looked great. We were just full.

I am absolutely loving exploring the area around my new home!…read more About two blocks away is Uptown Barrel Room, and I think I may have just found my new favorite neighborhood spot. It's close enough to walk to, which makes it even better. Honestly, every time I walk through the door, I almost want to start singing the Cheers theme song. This is now my third visit, and each time I've had a great experience. The crowd is incredibly friendly, and there's just something about this place that makes you feel welcome. On my first visit, I sat at the bar and met Randi, the bartender. She is absolutely amazing! She knows everyone by name and has that wonderful ability to make you feel like you've been coming there forever. I started with the calamari, and Randi set me up with some chipotle mayo for dipping. Excellent choice! I finished with the combination pizza. At first, I thought the crust was sourdough, but I was told it's actually a bagel crust. Regardless of what you call it, it was absolutely delicious! My second visit was about a week and a half later. I sat at the bar again, and Randi looked at me, smiled, and said, "Tony, right?" Now THAT is pretty amazing! Remembering my name after only one previous visit--and with a week and a half between visits--is exactly the kind of personal touch that makes a place special. Of course, I had to order the calamari again. This time I also tried the fried chicken. And if you're looking for a big portion, this is definitely worth checking out! For my third visit, I brought a couple of friends along. Candace took great care of us and did an amazing job as well. We started with the Italian meatball soup, and it was phenomenal. We also tried the fajita tacos, and they were absolutely delicious. While sitting at a regular table this time, I noticed some pretty impressive accolades on the wall. Uptown Barrel Room was named Best Wine Bar and Best Seafood in 2023, and Best Wine Bar again in 2024. It's always fun finding those little neighborhood gems, especially when you're new to an area. For me, Uptown Barrel Room has quickly become one of those places where you can walk in, see friendly faces, enjoy some great food, and feel like you belong. If you're in the area, go in and give it a try. You will not be sorry! And if you see me sitting at the bar, just come say hi. Apparently, Randi already knows my name. I have 2 friends that have been reluctant on this place from previous "not good" experiences, and they came with me and it made me sad!! Anyway, our server was so blah (Katelyn H), our water glasses had lipstick marks, I asked her for new ones, she seemed to have forgotten or something so I asked the bartender (which is so sweet!) then our server heard me and grabbed glasses and handed them to me. She didn't check if they were clean, and they weren't, friends were too thirsty to wait and wiped off the lip marks with their napkin. She didn't even bother to ask if the glasses were clean, and also never asked us if we needed anymore drinks (we ordered cocktails). When food arrived, I had to walk up to her to ask for small plates, as she just walked away after delivery. The calzones were burnt on the bottom, and the marinara was 100000% canned tomato paste and was cold. Work on that marinara. Ambiance was as it always is, super chill and welcoming. She was the only server but she could have led with that and made it a comfortable setting. (Towards the end I saw the bartender delivering plates and drinks).
