We've been here before and didn't have such a great experience, but that was years ago. Decided to give this place another since we are downtown so often. We asked to be seated up front near the entrance where the seating faces outside and the bay door was open, which made for a really nice atmosphere. The female staff member told us we could sit there, which we appreciated, but it took quite a while before anyone came over to bring menus. That said, the food definitely made up for some of the service hiccups. The steaks were absolutely delicious, and the drinks were refreshing and well-made. The staff was friendly when we did interact with them, but the service itself could use some improvement. We had to ask for utensils, request water refills multiple times, and at one point were told more water was coming but it never arrived until we asked again. Overall, great food and a nice setting, and would love to check out their weekend brunch, but the service could be more attentive and organized.

The food on the happy hour is great. And the service is good too. I like the atmosphere in here. Franziskaner beer is amazing and taste like banana.

There are some wonderful servers here. Most all are very attentive and willing to make recommendations on food and/or drinks. It's a nice vibe with friendly patrons.

I had a great visit to Uptown Barrel Room. The interior is cute wine bar meets neighborhood hang. They have quite an extensive beverage selection, and not just the wine! I had a delightful bottle of Cab Sav by Memories Born, which is apparently 'made by the owner. For food I tried the caprese appetizer and the vegetarian calzone. Both were delicious and would order them again! Our server was very friendly, attentive, and personable. An all around positive experience.

Server was really nice! My partner was content with his tacos, however lobster/crab Mac didn't taste too fresh. 18 bucks so not too disappointed, however the drinks weren't good and were kinda pricey. Tasted watered down and lacked flavor. Overall ok

Food was so delicious and Rochelle was an amazing server. The Kir Royales were exceptional. - The Real Supper Club of Vancouver USA

Wow! Taste, size of serving, service=Five Stars!! Dang, this place is worth going to. I saw the owner checking in with patrons in such a nice way. You've gotta check this out. We will be back!

TL;DR: Was a decent lunch spot we came across hoping for brunch. It wasn't busy at 11AM on a Thursday. Patio was open and server was great about coming out to check in. Food was okay. Mistakenly thought they were servicing brunch, but it's only on weekends. Came to eat at 11AM on a Thursday. We were the first customers of the day. We ate on the patio. All the tables on the patio had benches for seats that could not be adjusted (this note is for those who need flexible table configurations eating outside). Restrooms are up some stairs so may be inaccessible for some. Unsure if there are accessible bathrooms, but I didn't ask! There were high top tables and high stools along the bars windows. Again, maybe not wheel chair friendly but this was a quick observation while trying to find the restroom. I would call ahead if you need this accommodation to verify! Was a bit chilly outside so I ordered Earl Grey tea. Was offered cream and sugar on the side. Came with a variety of sugar options and three caps of half & half. Started with the Roasted Brussel Sprouts. Was sweeter than I was expecting. Thought I got a hint of sherry vinaigrette. I didn't enjoy the glaze, but the brussels were cooked well. Ordered the Blackened Salmon Caesar Salad. Salmon was perfectly cooked! Tender and not dry! Caesar salad part was adequate. Croutons were comically small. Haha. Special was the Philly Dip. A Philly Cheesesteak with au jus and fries in the side. Fries were hot and crispy! Sandwich was saucey - it was a little messy to eat. I don't love Phillys, but my partner who does thought it was good. Was looking forward to brunch, but Barrel Room was an okay lunch spot. Nothing to write home about but was decent. Our server was friendly and attentive.

Service was excellent, food was excellent. There was nothing to complain about. I thought their Brussels Sprouts were really good and their outdoor seating is nice.

Nice bar/restaurant with a few tables outside for dining. Place has a neighborhood vibe. They have an extensive wine list and wine tasting on 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month for $25. Food was good and the presentation of everything I saw was very nice!!

Cold beer outside at 9:30pm Friday night!!!

We're talking "Fred Meyer cheese counter" quality. Nothing bad, but just not great. The assortment of "dried fruit" was a small cup of dried cranberries. Meh. The real issue I have regarding our visit was the automatic 20% gratuity. I really hate this required tipping movement within the restaurant industry. I do wish they would just raise the prices and leave the tipping to me and my server to hash out. Sometimes the service isn't worth 20% of my bill. Really. Normally, there is a notice in Open Table or on the venue's website to alert of a required tipping policy. I saw neither prior to our arrival. In fact, I didn't notice any warning on the menu either but it was dark in the lounge and I may have missed the small print. I typically avoid restaurants requiring a service fee or mandatory 20% tip. This time they got me but I doubt we'll be back.

The Grant House is the oldest residence on Officers Row, originally built in the mid-1800s as part of the Fort Vancouver military community. You can feel that history the moment you walk in! The tall windows, the creaking wood floors, the way the rooms still hold that old-world dignity. The house was originally built with logs but then replaced. But from the looks of it some was preserved from the inside, which you can get a sneak peek when walking out of the bathroom and back into the dining space. For drinks, I had their cider, my fiancé chose a zero-proof drink, and both were delicious. My cider was bright, fruity and crisp, and his drink tasted thoughtfully layered, not sugary or flat. For dinner, we ordered the Garlic Caesar Salad, Butternut squash tagliatelle and the Seared pork chop, and they all felt like autumn served on a plate. The pasta was velvety and comforting, and the pork chop had that perfect balance of sear and tenderness, a dish that makes you pause mid-conversation just to appreciate it. But what truly made the night unforgettable was Pam. She was an absolute delight, warm, present, and a talented host beyond measure. She played soft, romantic jazz piano through the evening, and at one point, my fiancé and I ended up sharing a slow, quiet dance right there in the dining room. The Grant House setting adds to the charm historic, softly lit, and easy to settle into. Pam made us feel completely taken care of from start to finish. So excited to come back for the holiday dinner.

The scallops are cute little guys and very tasty. All the skewers were delicious. I think next time I would skip the beef cheek poutine. The beef cheek was the best part and the other ingredients were just so so. Dessert? We got the chocolate pot de creme and chocolate lava cake. If you're just getting one, I'd recommend the chocolate lava cake. There are a lot of fun elements on the plate, great for sharing!

The employee slammed one of their sandwich boards on the ground and said, "can I help you?" In a less than friendly tone. I let her know I was waiting on a few friends but would love to sit outside. (Mind you, we are talking a GIANT group of four maybe five) She rudely told me I "really should have a reservation." I apologized and told her we would go elsewhere. "No, it's fine, just make a reservation next time." I found her fellow employees just as rude. She seated me and told me to ask if we needed another chair because she "would be irritated if we moved one in the way." I purchased two bottles and waited for my girlfriends. We enjoyed one another's company and then left. If you appreciate a classy winery with professional employees, maybe go elsewhere.

They do serve lunch items along with pastries and coffee, and when I walked in there were a few locals standing around watching TV which gave it a casual neighborhood vibe. I ordered a large cold brew and a pecan bar from the pastry case. The cold brew was actually really good -- strong, smooth, and definitely woke me up. The pecan bar, though, wasn't my favorite. It tasted a little aged/stale and unfortunately didn't really hit the mark for me (especially when you grow up spoiled by homemade pecan bars ). Service was okay but not particularly warm or welcoming. More of a "take your order and keep it moving" type of atmosphere. Nothing rude, just not overly friendly either.
