I'm leaving 2 stars because the beer was cold and our server was pleasant and attentive. The location is great. The room was clean, bright, and modern with tv's around the walls. It looked like the kind of place one could have had a great burger and great reuben sandwich. My wife's reuben was basically 2 slices of bread with almost no pastrami. For 10.99 one expects the meat to be bulging out. My burger was advertised as "ground filet mignon". The beef was rubbery, gristley, and tasteless. Neither of us finished our sandwiches. Kitchen 67 was amazing! It had a great menu for the adults with plenty of variety and a really good kids menu. The atmosphere was fresh and laid back. The staff were very friendly and the chef was very visible in the dining room checking on guests and food as well. I'm saying 3 stars due for the speedy service, but with the mediocre food and unusual decor combination, I'm on the fence about my visit. The good: 1. They take reservations. For my family birthday lunch with 9 people, a reservation is a blessing. No waiting for tables to get pushed together or parties to leave to get the tables. 2. Speedy, with-it service. Our server was polite and on the ball with orders, bringing our refills quickly and placing food in front of the correct person when serving. As a server in my past life, I know this can be a challenge to do with a larger party, and our server nailed it. 3. Portion size. They serve up a value here. Between the roles, the multiple sides, and large entrees, you will get your dollars worth. The mediocre: 1. Decor. I can get a burger and fries a lot of places around town, so decor and ambiance mean something to me. A place that is thoughtful, intelligent and creative with their design, is a place that I want to come back to, even when the food is only so-so. Kitchen 67 seems like they pinned a bunch of ideas they liked and then executed them all at once, but I'm not seeing that it's 100% cohesive. Like there are black and white arty-ish photos and iPads on the wall. There is bistro tables with cozy large, living room sized chairs and then computerized ceiling panels with racing lights on them. Upon entering, there was an illuminated liqueur tower that looked similar to something I made in college with Christmas lights and empties. The entire place isn't ugly but I found it confusing; it's not entirely old world bistro nor does is really have a techy modern vibe. 2. Food. My husband said his ribs tasted to be about 2 days old- not fresh, fall off the bone. My daughters complained that her hamburger was dry. My mother in law was pushing her side of whipped sweet potatoes on to everyone because she didn't like it. My brother in law wasn't wow'd with the potato bites he ordered as an appetizer, saying they were too crispy and over done. That said, I liked my citrus salad and my other brother in law seem to him his meal. My sister in law and niece were also happy, especially with the fries. The Confusing: The restaurant is connected to the next door Verizon wireless store? Why??? Do I get a drink here when my phone is being looked at? Do I buy a new phone after dinner? Unrelated, My mother in law who is a long-time Brann's customer was disappointed that Kitchen 67's food didn't taste the same as she's had for years at other Brann's restaurants. We tried telling her is was because it's an entirely different place, but she wasn't having it. Apparently, having the Brann's name connected to this place was a selling feature for her, and she left disappointed. So, if you bring your 70 year old mother in law here, who has fond memories of her by-gone Brann's days, just know you may have to prep her that isn't not exactly the same place she knew before. read more

Sunday afternoon around 1pm. Host seated us and immediately contaminated the silverware by placing the menu on top of it. The table had a good deal of crumbs which a nearby busboy was kind enough to clean up for us. The replacement silverware was filmy and stained. (Either overloaded dishwasher or not thoroughly rinsed.) We ordered the Traverse City salad and Going Green salad. Both of which had more than enough greens but a measly amount of chicken. We're talking one chicken finger worth, sliced. The host did bring us each more when we asked him. The salads were ample and very good, especially the cherry vinagrettte dressing. Rolls and the sweet butter were good also. Wish I could've purchased the wings individually for a smaller portion but that option isn't available except during happy hour. Bartenders always greet with a smile and are as prompt as possible with drink orders by far some of the best bartenders I have experienced the Meg and Katie are very experienced and can make u Anything u wish along with a smile (beat that service) . I have been here at busy and slow times and each visit has been a great experience. Food is amazing and a very good variety making it difficult to decide what to order. We have been here twice and have been impressed both times. The first time we came in we had the ribs. OH MY GOODNESSS!!! The ribs are to die for. And their Mambo Rum Runners are amazing as well. Highly recommended. The second time we both had steaks. Filet and Prime rib. Now the Prime Rib came out a little less than satisfactory but they have this feature on their tables, a button you can push for immediate service. And they are not kidding, they show right up. The problem was remedied immediately and all was great!! Their service is amazing, their staff is fun and friendly. You can't beat this place. We love it and intend to go back often. Fantastic service. Wait was 25 minutes, but only took 10. Visited many spots that go way beyond estimate. Atmosphere is great and not too loud. Clean! The Blue 67 Chopped Salad is fantastic. The steaks are a 4 out of 5. Cooked to order correctly and delicious. Great selection of drinks. Tonight was my second time dining at Kitchen 67 and the gentleman who appeared to be a manager remembered us from our last visit! He welcomed us back and took us to our table. Although our server was there for us throughout the night, he came back several times and made sure we were doing fine. The food was amazing as always but service is always top notch. We really wanted to like this place. I have no doubt Mr. Brann knows a thing or two about operating a restaurant. The atmosphere is nice and the decor is very inviting. There was a large Bloody Mary bar as we walked in that looked tempting as well. Our biggest problem is that the plates were so cheap that they looked like they belonged in a college cafeteria. The knives and forks weighed almost nothing. It made the nicer things feel cheap. They have done a nice job on presentation. The french fries come out in a metal topper like the nice restaurant in Chicago although they weren't quite as tasty. The Ribs were above average. The steaks was a rehash of the cheapest toughest piece of meat that could be purchased. If the quality of the food is increased and the table attire follows suit I believe this will be a great place. If not. I fear they are doomed. We have no intentions of returning unless we read that some improvements are made. There are just to many choices that are better. Best of luck Mr. Brann. read more

I took my son on a recent Friday night. It was a bit early for the dinner rush so it wasn't all that busy; I guess my fellow Hollanders haven't discovered this place yet! Décor is an interesting modern look, if a bit dark. The ipads on the booth walls make for an interesting diversion. The menu is not too big yet there were many items that looked good. The have Fat Tire Ale in bottles, so it's worth going just for that. My burger was tasty, cooked perfectly, big enough without being absurd, and the fries were done well. My son had a chicken dish of some sort (my age causes me to forget exactly what it was) that he declared to be excellent. Service was well above average from the moment we walked inside. Our server was smart, friendly without being saccharine, timely and attentive. Prices are fair across the board. I will come again and will likely bring the whole family. read more

My Dad and I tried Kitchen 67 for the first time last night and had a great experience! The service was amazing and the food was really delicious. My Dad raved about the ribs and I had a great buffalo mac and cheese. It wasn't anything fancy, but was excellent comfort food on a cold night. I'm looking forward to trying a burger next time! I was impressed that the owner came to our table and spent plenty of time talking with us about the restaurant and its philosophy. It's really nice to support a local restaurant that has such a stake in the community. Sure beats the all the other chain restaurants on the East Beltline! I'll definitely be back! read more

Had lunch at kitchen 67. The atmosphere was good and the dining room was very modern. The dining area was clean and the staff was friendly and very accommodating. Food was spot on, great addition to Knapp's corner. They give you an i pad to play with while you wait with lots of pics of other diners which would be nice if some people didn't try and wreck a good thing. My suggestion would be to review and delete inappropriate pics. I wish I knew what is wrong with people who go out to eat and feel the need to flip off the next person trying to enjoy their experience. read more

After buying a groupon we went there after lunch time to miss the crowd. Wow this place was nasty dirty. Ordered the hangover burgers. The egg on the burger was so greasy and brown I almost didn't eat it. It had tomatoes on it so I thought, it had one just one and the size of a 50 cent piece. Tried this place on a Sunday around 11:30AM expecting a mad post-church rush. There were about 2 tables in use, so we mostly had the place to ourselves. First impressions: At the entrance is a long bar/seating area along the front windows. It looked like a moving sale - with chairs piled on chairs and rolls of carpets laying there, etc. with boxes & things. Felt like we were interrupting something. Staff was really nice. We were given menus and instructions on where to order. OK, no prob. I ordered, then tried to find my family in the labyrinth of booths. I liked the layout simply because it was different, and it made most booths feel more private than if they were all in a straight row. The sun was bright outside, and lights very dim inside, so it felt like there were no lights on at all.... not a warm and cozy feeling, but more like a warehouse that didn't pay the light-bill, with loud music echoing off hard walls. Kids had fun playing iPad games. Food: French onion soup was nice & powerful. Dark & strong, such that it did not need the huge dollop of cheese that most places use. Burger & fries were OK, nothing special. Caesar salad with chicken tasted like any other chain caesar I've had. Does anyone use garlic & anchovy paste these days? Or just the bucket of dressing off the Sysco truck? Unfortunately, the Chicken Chipotle sandwich's "grilled chicken breast" was actually the exact same chicken chunks used in the Caesar salad. There was nothing grilled in there - it tasted like chicken tenders sauteed in a pan with Lawry's seasoning salt. Add 1 soda, and a $2 up-charge for broccoli instead of fries, and the bill was $33 - and we cleared our own table. (Awkward) And expensive for Sysco food and mostly-self-service. An extra star added because the dining room & kitchen food-serving-counter area looked very clean. First time/last time. read more

The wife and I were here last night for a very enjoyable dinner. I enjoyed a 6oz sirloin with broccoli and coleslaw. I told the waitress that the broccoli was expertly prepared not too soft not to hard. Delicious coleslaw and the steak was very good. Everything delivered hot, that was supposed to be, and in a timely fashion. The wife had a large salad with hot fresh yeast rolls that were good. Great waitstaff, Nice experience. Originally I had given this place a poor review due. I left for NC for year and upon my return I tried Kitchen 67 out again. What a change!! Brann's Kitchen 67 has a menu item for everyone. I would recommend the chicken wings! especially for happy hour they are a steal! The flatbreads are good just be sure to ask for additional sauce or they come out a tad dry. The menu has so many delicious options. My burger was delicious but took 45 minutes. I'm glad we weren't in a hurry. There weren't many tables but the kitchen was slow. I'm personally not a fan of needing to push a button at your table when you need the server to come. My water glass had a huge crack in it and I needed to ask for a new one. Solid restaurant with fresh ingredients and good flavors. Have eaten here many times and it's consistent. One favorite is the sizzle bowl, which doesn't sizzle but its contents have, in a wok. This time I got the baby back ribs, which literally fell away from the bone. I opted for the bourbon sauce, which is not as sweet as the regular BBQ sauce. Delicious! The veggie skewer was also delicious, particularly the portobello mushroom. I'm not a fan of the seasoned salt on the fries, but it's their standard way. They have dialed up bloody Marys, unique cocktails, and craft beer. It's not fancy food or drink, but it is reliably good. read more

Let me start off by saying that I have been here multiple times and never had a problem with the food. Last night was different, coming in there was issues already. The waitress bought me over to a booth that was supposed clean and sanitized already but upon sitting down there was stains and the table was sticky. She quick ran and got a spray bottle and just sprayed the table down and wiped it off that should have been a sign already. After putting in the appetizer order and drinks we waited about 25 mins for her to not come back and take our entrée order, so we had to asking a different waiter. He seemed to have attitude taking our order but I didn't say anything about. We waited about another 20 mins for food and when it came out it was consistently wrong, we got given the wrong food 3 times!! Which was ridiculous, but not only that my bird in hand sandwich was rock hard, like I tired to bite the sandwich 3 times and I end up cutting the top of my gums from it, I told the waitress and she sent it back, I than over heard the kitchen complaining about remaking it and I don't think they actually fried the chicken for the second sandwich but put it straight into the oven! When it came back it was fine but you could tell if tasted off. I ended up feeling so uncomfortable with the environment and the food that I paid and tipped and left! Proceeding that night I woke up sweating and throwing up multiple times so I knew that I had gotten food poisoning from them. I will never be back! I think This was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had, I highly recommend to not come here and join me in my experience. Definitely never coming back. read more

My girlfriend and I had lunch here a couple weeks ago. The experience was good, we both decided on burgers and fries. I had the SW burger which was done perfectly and was quite tasty. My girlfriend's swiss burger was even better. The service was friendly. It's a trendier restaurant with modern decor. Each table has an iPad docked on the wall next to it so diners can surf the internet while they wait. Bottom line was there was probably some bad communication. I wanted a big fat juicy steak cooked rare. The waitress warned me that they were low on steaks. I should have listened. Enjoyed a delicious dinner with my husband Saturday night! Short wait, the server was prompt in taking our drink orders. The meal timing was perfect - salads (loved the mason jar presentation!), rolls, then our steaks. Mine was slightly over-cooked (I asked for medium) and was covered with caramelized onions. Our blue cheese fries were great, as were my buffalo Mac and my husband's burger. We were disappointed in the French onion soup. The photo in the menu was very deceiving; the photo makes it appear as if there is a delicious crust and baked cheese on top of the soup when it comes out. Instead, we received a cup of soup with a few croutons and half a slice of Swiss cheese just laying on it. Our friend ordered a bowl of it and received a whole slice of Swiss cheese laying on top. We were disappointed and do not plan on ever ordering the French onion soup again. There was nothing special about it and the presentation looked like how a teenager would make it at home. The photo in the menu needs to be removed or revised to show what the French onion soup truly looks like. Overall though, we were happy with our order and enjoyed our other food.
