It would wake the dead! Also was led to believe that it was made here at Appliance Park in my home town of Louisville Kentucky, but after I got it upon further inbestigation found out that it was built at Appliance Park in Mexico! Not happy. Up till now have been putting up with the noisy alert timer, but is now a problem as it wakes the new grandbaby! Since PRC bought out GE, I am mever going to by a GE product again.

It feels very mom-and-pop. The people working are always very friendly and knowledgeable -- and fast. And, surprisingly affordable, even cheaper than big box hardware in some cases. I've lived in the neighborhood for oh gosh, 22 years. Eek. And they have been a godsend for Crescent Hill homeowners like me. It's not just the convenience, it's the ability to provide services that old homes need. For example, my house was built in 1928. I still have, and use an old school deadbolt on my front door.. with its original key. They are the only place in town (that I've found) who can cut replicas of this particular key style.. and guess what they charge? $1.99 a key! That's it. Pretty sure the HD is around $4-5 a key. Example 2: I haven't replaced all the windows in my house yet. A few years ago I needed to repair some of the screens and a few cracked window panels. The old school kind, 4 aluminum sides and a sheet of glass. Guess who was the only place that still repairs those?.. you betcha. Example 3: I had a ceiling fan in need of an odd-sided light bulb. Guess where I found one? Small local businesses like Oscar's truly make this neighborhood special. Next time you need a tool or things for a home repair, especially weird, older-home things, don't sleep on Oscar's.

FirstBuild is owned by GE, but opens the space up to the public in the evenings and Saturday mornings. They post their upcoming classes on Facebook and on their website and signing up online is easy. Make sure to note the time and date of your class. I didn't receive any text or email reminders after the purchase confirmation. I've attended the Power Tools 101 and the Woodworking 101 classes. Prices for both were incredibly reasonable. Instructors for both were awesome. You can tell they care about the mission of helping people create and build things while using the equipment safely. Along with the power tools you can use in the co-working makerspace, there's a 3-D printer and laser cutter available. If you want to use the woodworking equipment outside of class time, you'll need to take their certification class. Everyone I met was super welcoming. Very Louisville Tool Library vibes. Highly recommend. FirstBuild is next to UofL's Belknap campus. They have designated parking spaces. I had zero issues finding spots near the door.

It is a very nice well stocked store with competitive prices. They are conveniently located out on the new Commerce Parkway. They have a full range of services from Hardware, Lumber, Paint and a Design Center. They even have a Design Team that can help you plan you projects. I had been looking for wooden stakes for my recently planted tomato plants. This was the only place near la Grange I could find that had them in stock. The staff, especially Brian, is very friendly and will go out of their way to help you. I look forward to being a regular customer here.

I never felt intimidated (unfortunately that's still a reality in some places) and would have no problem going back for my next project (and there is ALWAYS a next project...). PS - the person behind the counter (owner?) was explaining to me that they get a really great deal on paint, a white label brand of the expensive stuff at a steady ~20% off.
